Target preorder has been stuck at "preparing to ship" for a few days now.
yea, it's dumb.. I pre-ordered mine at Target 12 minutes after it went live and says same for me as well.. Preparing to ship.. Scheduled to arrive Wed. June 11th so idk.. I should've just went the trade in boost last week/Gamestop route and I could've had it right now but oh well right

Same here. I think I got it in around 30 minutes after it went live. I just hope that it won’t be delayed because it’s meant for someone else. I don’t want said person to be disappointed.

I got my GameStop one last night. My Target preorder still says “preparing to ship” though. I would cancel it but my friend asked if she could get it.

it ws such a hassle to get the preorder but GameStop was the easiest to work with. I ended up using a Retro GameStop across town tht got a ton. My closest store that survived the closings didn’t get many consoles at all.

Target will start selling Switch 2's online again tomorrow, my guess is once those are sold they will start to ship all of them. We shouldnt expect to see ours anytime soon.
It’s probably an overreaction to not end up in Nintendo jail (not be able to take preorders on 1st party stuff) like Amazon.
I think that they can pay UPS extra to not deliver until a certain date. But they probably didn’t want to pay the extra/take the chance.

Just got my Walmart one delivered, I told my son he could have the first one that came (he paid me his $500 yesterday that he’s been saving for two years) so I haven’t opened the box to see what they put in it. I’ll wait for the Best Buy one, I have to work today anyways. He will be excited when he wakes up.

Edit... Okay Walmart is for sure the GOAT on the Switch 2 deliveries, having it to us before 7:30am with a thing of pringles and an orange cream coke. Meanwhile my Best Buy one is in California still and says arriving tomorrow.

So far so good on 2 of the 4 preorders (giving the extras to my family as gifts):

1. Best-buy midnight pre-order pickup went smoothly with 2 separate lines (one for those with a preorder and one for those without)
2. Walmart preorder arrived at 6:49am today, while I was asleep, in a blue bag accompanied by a Coke bottle and Pringles chips

3. Target preorder #1 will arrive 6/7 (originally said 6/11)
4. Target preorder #2 is set to arrive 6/11 as of now

I know that everyone here was just being safe by getting a pre-order and waiting in line but I told you multiple times that this thing would be easy to find. I have a bunch of targets near me and according to the app, all of them have the Mario Kart bundle in stock. A lot of posters on Reddit are just walking into the store and buying it.

I'll post it again, it's too overpriced for the main audience that Nintendo sold switch to. Time will tell if I'm wrong but all those parents are not going to see the value in spending $450 minimum before any games or taxes when it looks almost identical to the system their kids are already playing on. Nintendo did not innovate at all with this thing. They just made it a better switch and charged more for it.

Christ give it a rest already. If they were hard to find, you wouldn’t be like “oh I was wrong.”

The thing is, it could become scarce in the near future once initial shipment is depleted. Then what?

And don't forget that nintendo has been making these things for months and piling them up. Amazon not selling them in this country also leaves a lot more for everyone else. Just because you can spot them in the wild on launch day doesn't mean they aren't selling as well as other consoles at launch.

I would absolutely state I was wrong. I made a thread on the IGN Nintendo boards about what I was right and wrong about with my switch 2 predictions. Maybe I am completely wrong about switch 2 not being popular. Maybe it will be extremely hard to find in a week or two or maybe and it is sold out for 2 years or whatever like switch. I just highly doubt it. I'll definitely admit I'm wrong if that's the case.

you have a hate boner for the switch 2. Just because there's ready stock doesn't mean it's not a success. If there was no stock, you'd say something like "Nintendo creating artificial demand via limiting supply."

We won't know the success of this until months or years. But yet you want to do a victory lap with 'it's too overpriced. I told you so!'

Now you're just making it into something that's not. I simply stated it would be easy to buy on day one. Yes, I maintain it will not be as successful as switch and that it's overpriced. You are right, we won't know about that for at least 6 months or a year. I think Nintendo said they planned to sell something like 15 million by the end of the year. I think that's absolutely ridiculous but hey let's revisit this post in December.

Fiscal year, which ends March 31, 2026.

Aesop wrote a story about Freeze Time and the Switch 2 - https://read.gov/aesop/005.html

Props to Walmart for delivering my Switch 2 just before 7:00am and throwing in some pringles and a coke. And props to Nintendo too, this was just about the easiest launch experience I've had for any console. The only drawback so far is the games are taking a while to download, but I imagine their servers are getting hammered.

All the Targets in my area are sold out of them as are the Best Buys. May be in your neck of the woods, but Switch 2 is nowhere to be had here.

Debatable as no reviews were available for launch. There have been rumblings about the HDR quality being a massive downgrade while docked but TBH I haven't even cared to look; just random musings on Reddit feed. Disturbing to me that day one a lot of specifics were unknown yet people will still buy it.

Par for the course, here in America.

for those picking it up - what if any games did you order? I literally only got the mario kart that comes with the bundle and didnt pick anything else up.

Noone in line with me picked up any games either lol, in that sense its been pretty underwhelming.

Well, to be fair, Nintendo has a pretty trusted reputation with consoles and console launches. It's not as if Nintendo has committed RRODs or anything even remotely similar.

May be everyone in line with you were scalpers.

Anyways, mine looks to be coming next week. Bummed but I skipped the Switch 1 so am looking forward to it.

Regardless, for the price it shouldn't be sight unseen.
Is it though? I guess I don't see $500 now for a handheld gaming device as crazy anymore. We live in a hyper inflation world (unfortunately filled with idiots who are doing more bad things to cause even higher prices and make inflated costs all but permanent).

$500 for the Switch 2 is going to look like a bargain come fall/winter... and I wish I wasn't joking about that.

Just Mario Kart for me, but IMO this thing was long overdue. I quit playing TOTK because I didn't feel like it ran well on the Switch and assumed I would be able to play it once a switch successor console came out, so for me, it's going to be cleaning up the backlog on a system that can finally run these games from the last 2-3 years that didn't seem to run great on the Switch.

It sounds like supply of Switch 2 is running out in Japan, I wouldn't be shocked if the US stock dries up after this initial huge wave of consoles. It seems like they had stockpiled them but we will see if they come back quickly or not after this first wave.

I got cyberpunk and rune factory to support the non key card games. I had a bunch of gamestop credit to burn though, if I was paying cash probably would have been just Mario kart as well.

So you bought a SW2 to play Sw1 games?

Pretty much what I'm doing. I sold my nsw1 hardware 6.5 months ago when demand was high. Having a title like Xenoblade Chronicles 3 actually run at an acceptable level is more important to me than a first party launch game. I'm sad to hear docked hdr is poor but all the technology should be present for patch improvements.

I still haven't decided if I should pick up the standard or bundle. How are people liking MK:W?

Target has only a handful of units without MKW bundled in my Target.com radius (west of Boston) for in store pickup. I don't doubt those will sell out by tonight, too.

I'm glad I wasn't picky about framerates with either BotW or TotK. I can't even imagine having waited to experience those games. The frame rates didn't bother me, but as a kid I also understood that the square in Atari's adventure was a hero and that the squiggly was a dragon so...yeah.

The extra pre-order from Target has shipped and is now set to arrive this coming Wednesday. It was originally scheduled to arrive on Tuesday. At least now I can give the person it’s for an update.

Nintendo wouldn’t have shipped pre made signs for when they’re sold out in stores if they didn’t expect stock to dry up.
They know what they’re doing.

Over lunch I picked up my pre-ordered copy of Cyberpunk at Gamestop and decided to get some stuff at the Target in the same mall. No Switch 2s to be seen there.

I stopped at Walmart because my kid needed some anti bug bite cream and I walked over to electronics. My store hadn’t cleared out the Switch 1 section and I didn’t see any Switch 2’s around…no idea where they’d put them anyways.
