NO MORE HEROES Discussion - FS/FT Pure White Giant Glastonbury LE Pink Cartridge

I beat the 1st boss and am ranked 10. Does the game get more violent then this? I really like the controls and the game I wish it was not rated M so my son can play, eventhough he plays call of duty 4 on the PS3 and uncharted. Do u think this game gets much more violent?

Blood spray, decapitation, severed limbs, etc should be about the bulk of it.

Currently rank 4, I could probably easily beat this game by the end of the day, but I'm going to give my arm a rest as it's been a little sore.

I just noticed that if you hit B rapidly during the loading screen the loading icon flies up the screen and changes colors.

The only way it gets more violent is the way that some of the later ranked fighters die. #6 comes to mind since
she eats a grenade

Yeah, #6 was crazy. It's weird how
Travis just stalled there before being able to react

I just found out you can kick trash bins for cash & T-Shirts. I musta passed up a ton of stuff.

Anyways I'm goin' around collecting dragon balls.

best way to pick up balls is to upgrade your katana with the sensor. all balls and coins in the ground come up as yellow dots on the map.

I found Rank 4 to be a pain in the butt. Especially since
he OHKO'd me with this box attack the first time through >_

just started playing it today. its good for the most part. i really find the camera a bit annoying at times but the gameplay is pretty good so it makes up for it. will be playing it more later.

Yeah, I got the "Dragon Radar" Now all I need is a magical cloud and Bulma.

Even Headhunter had better bike-riding through a city. I simply cannot see how you all can like that aspect unless you just like how boring it is.

I think if you fail a mission, you gotta go back and get the job again.

Yeah, the whole open world thing really sucks IMO. I would've much preferred a simple list of places to go. While that probably would've been panned by today's standards for being too simple or linear or whatever, I'd prefer that to a half-assed sandbox world.

No, you make it linear, toss the dopey minigames aside.

But No More Heroes becomes Soul Calibur Legends with an "edgey" coat of paint if you do that.

wouldn't that be like sonic and the secret rings, where everything was non linear. Well, assuming that this had a story to tell, wouldn't it be much easier to fit it in a "world", as it would make more sense that you accept a job at the jobcenter, rather than going directly to some list, and picking minigames.

But then again, your right, a simple list is better than a simple city.
8 is pissing me the fook off, she did 2 one hit combos in a row and it didnt even allow me to hit her inbetween....arrrgggh
the trick is to lock onto her and stay rite in front of her the entire time.

when she attacks, you can do your evasive move and the game turns into slow motion for a fraction of a second, giving you a big opportunity to strike at her.

the boss after her is a joke in terms of difficulty, he's the last dood I beat!! I'm onto the next one now.

the best t shirts I got are #88 and #97! freakin watermelon man eating a watermelon!!

I've also found ALL the dragon balls!! and I've beaten two of the 'dont get hit' missions

what? there's dragon balls in this game?

I don't see what was so hard about the Rank 8 Mission. I took her down retty easily.

I'm 3:30 hours in and I'm taking a break. When I start back up I'm doing more odd jobs to get more stuff in the game.

I'm currently rank # 4 and I'm still loving this game, HOWEVER, I do have one minute criticism. The core combat does get a bit samey after awhile and it has nothing to do with it being underdeveloped, it's more like they developed it, but then didn't take full potential of its' uses. For example, the tutorial explains the difference between high and low swings and grabs, but 9 hours into it I still never really notice the difference and often forget to even pay attention to it. Even the grab moves seem underutilized as I pretty much only use them when an enemy is already stunned, so I can perform a finishing wrestling move on them. I never use charge attacks either. I pretty much just mash the A button and throw in a wrestling move now an again for good measure, but it doesn't seem as reflex-based and strategic as the tutorial would imply. But maybe the game is just too easy. I'll replay it on hard mode once I'm done and maybe then I'll learn the value of using all the moves in my arsenal, but so far a lot of them seem superfluous. Has anyone else noticed this, and if so, does it get better?

Hmmm... This is totally not my kind of game but I might check it out if the good reviews keep coming.

Just beat her and took a break. Tomorrow will involve earning cash to open up #7.

So I guess I should be walking around the world instead of driving if I want to collect coins/balls/shirts and the like?

I'm not at all a fan of brawlers or similar types, but I am enjoying the hell out of this one. But hey, you have hundreds in Blockbuster credit, at least rent it!

Pfft - use my credit to rent!? I have 2 sets of Hollywood video monthly game rental coupons (from buying my Elite and Zelda DS) not to mention a near unlimited supply of free Blockbuster rentals from Coke Rewards. The nice thing about the latter, of course, is that I can keep the game a week or so. I'll have to see if either place has it though - I could see both of them not stocking this game. But yeah, if they do, I may just give this a rent at first to see how I like it.

Oh, and the cat - greatest supporting character ever. Always keep an eye on the cat while in the motel. If you see a stuffed fish cat toy caught on the ceiling fan spinning around, you can guess what might happen next.

I think free roaming should stay. However they should've had some kinda point, click and go-to feature (kinda like Skate.) I like finding shirts, balls & cash but traveling to diffrent missions can get boring.

I'm at Rank#5 and I can see myself beating it in a few days. That's both a good & bad thing.
do u think that will help with the driving
It helped Snake take out Sniper Wolf so I don't see how it could hurt...

I realize that I will be in a small, small minority here, but I actually enjoyed the lawn mowing minigame. Possibly because I mowed many lawns in my time and never made that much money, but it was also a nice break. I mean, if you're a bloodthirsty killer, what can you do to relax other than pet your cat? Lawn mowing is where it's at.

I liked when i mowed a lawn completely, sadly i felt a sense of accomplishment
walkings not a bitch people, just upgrade to the ability to run with the "B" button. after I got that I don't even use the bike anymore.
I still use the bike. It's easy to control (once you get used to it) and with boost, it's really quick getting to missions on the other side of the map.

yeah the bike is hella useful.. i just wish you didnt have to watch the mini cutscene everytime.. kind of a pain

But much funner than fire emblem

*waits for crotch*
So is this sorta like Shenmue with the assorted activities between beatdowns?
Yes.

Except it's not boring.
