No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise coming to PS3 and 360.

One thing you should all be aware of - at least in Japan, the PS3 version of the game is censored. No Tarantino-esque violence overload for you.
Havent play the original but how important is motion control to the original game?
Very.

And the thing is, I don't know how the game is going to fare without them. It wouldn't be too hard to translate them to traditional controls, but the Wii controls did make the game more fun to play. Since there haven't been many (any?) good Star Wars games this generation, this is the closest thing there is to the lightsaber action game people dreamed about when the Wii was announced.

If you take the motion controls out (and let's face it, people - if it's coming out early next year, it probably won't support the "spring 2010" Wand and there's no way in hell it will support Natal), then you're left with a stylish third person brawler that's the definition of nice appeal. I also have a feeling that its shortcomings - an overworld that was dull and repetitive enemy types are the two big ones - are going to be magnified on systems where there's more competition in the hardcore market.

I have a feeling that this game is going to disappoint a lot of people, because the game's going to lose a lot of its charm without the motion controls. I also have a feeling that it's going to bomb - it's coming out at full price in Japan, and I just don't see enough demand to release it for $50 here.

Hopefully, the transfer to the 360 will allow the developers to make use of the open world environment of the game. Despite the open scenery, options were extremely limited, limiting the appeal of the game. Also, glitches in the original Wii version should be fixed. The game needs more than a graphic improvement to make it on the 360.

The original Japanese Wii version was censored too. If it comes out in the US, the PS3 version will almost certainly have the same bloody fun as the other versions. Granted, even if it were censored, it wouldn't bother me.
I'll likely pick since I'm a huge fan of the original and have the wii sequel preordered.

I agree about the open world, that part was kind of painful at times.

Those screens look great.

I hope so... it doesn't make sense to sensor one version but not the other (unless Sony requested their version be sensor...). I also hope they put the same amount of effort into both versions instead of building it around the 360, then porting it over to the PS3 (I'm looking at you SEGA).
Buy a Wii? Some of you people's hatred for the console is lame/hilarious.
I can't.... buy a Wii, I really don't like that system. I might try it out... once it drops to 99, but that's as far as I can go with that system. 99 dollars.

I'd guess Ignition would bring it over.
I have a feeling that this game is going to disappoint a lot of people, because the game's going to lose a lot of its charm without the motion controls.
Thank god!

Hopefully it doesn't look TOO shitty on an HD tv.

After the dissapointment that was Smash Bros Brawl, i refused to buy anymore wii games ever again. Why i still have the system is because i'm too damn lazy to put it for sale on ebay. But despite this fact, there were a couple games I really wanted to play.

No More Heroes
Murumasa
Tatsunoko vs Capcom

Now there are only 2 games on the wii I want. Hopefully those others come to XBLA or something.
I agree with that last statement. I can play Murumasa on Wii. That doesn't bother me,but Tatsunoko VS Capcom really should be ps3/360. Also glad to see No More Heroes is coming to ps3/360. I'm not a fan of the game personally, but I'm glad everyone gets a chance to play it. No matter what there system of choice is.

Are 360 games usually region free? I might have to import this instead of waiting for someone to release it in the US.
Ubisoft dropped it for publishing? There are probably other publishers out to grab it.
Between the Petz and Imagine games, Ubisoft puts out a lot of crap. It's crap that sells well, though. If Ubisoft doesn't want it, it's because they think that, even without the cost of development, the game still won't make a profit. And if Ubisoft doesn't think it's going to sell, then I'm not sure how many other publishers would be interested.

No More Heroes began as a niche title. Now, it's a two year old niche title with a new and possibly (probably?) inferior control scheme. It's a good game, but this wouldn't be the first time we've seen a good game fail spectacularly. This wouldn't be the first time it's happened to Ubisoft, either.

A niche title that did well for itself. More than I'm sure Ubi expected at the time.
There's no way this game won't make it here.

I'm all for removing unnecessary motion controls ("waggle") from Wii games (NSMB, anyone?), but the motion controls in No More Heroes definitely enhanced the gameplay.

I agree, I enjoyed the motion controls and how they were implemented in NMH.

That being said, I'll gladly double-dip and buy the 360 port if we ever get it here.

"Well for itself" is relative - sales were okay but not exactly stellar, and it's telling that Ubisoft thought it was necessary to bundle it with Red Steel to clear out remaining stock.

Exactly.

I couldn't get into the original version on the Wii. If it were a straight up action game then it would have been great but the fact that the developers had to add a barren overworld and worthless side diversions ruined it for me.
Motion controls are gone. Is anyone surprised?

Notice the emphasis on "relative" in the post. It may be Suda's best selling game, but Ubisoft? Those numbers pale in comparison to what some of the Petz and Imagine games for the DS pull in, and those titles would almost definitely have a significantly lower budget.
Not as much as they used to perhaps:

Seems to me Ubisoft is looking to change direction.

Not even Sixaxis support? Cant shake the controller to re-charge sword? Wrestle moves? Shake left or right for final attack? Oh well. The game looks great and makes up for lack of motion controls. Just bring it here sometime soon next year.

They should hold this game and release it along side Natal and the Sony motion controllers. Orrrrr... they just patch in the motion controls later on...

I'm pretty interested in this, as I loved NMH when I played it through on a friend's Wii.

Should I just import it for PS3? any chance of English text/VA being available? Do you guys think it will make it to America? Do you think the pre-order bonus will be worth anything? (And does Play-Asia usually ship those? NCSX mentions they will be, so if I do pre-order I'd be more inclined to do it there)
sorry for the billions of questions.

Comes out in a few weeks. A trailer was released back in December I think which showcased Japanese voice work (for those who know who I'm talking about, Roronoa Zoro was Travis), however we've since gotten new videos and the game uses the original voice track from the Wii version. So I guess it was simply done for the trailer to appeal to the masses more.

Unfortunately the PS3 version is indeed the black-dust censored version.

So... what's the word on the PS3/360 version making it over to NA? They're coming out in Japan soon, right?

Ubisoft won't publish it over here, and since they have the publishing rights for No More Heroes, it doesn't look good.

You could always just import the PS3 version if you wanted to play it that badly.

I'm really tempted to even tho it's censored. The censored version isn't so bad if you look at it as a parody of old video games, which it is.

I have a Wii so I can play it on that but I really didn't care for the motion controls in the first and would definitely prefer a PS3 pad. Of course, I'm not sure how far the censoring goes so I might go for the 360 version.

More or less anything you kill, both canon fodder and bosses, turn into black dust instead of bisections, decapitations, etc... of course no blood splatter either. There is one death tho that is completely ridiculous in the censored version:
Holly Summers, instead of her head blowing up leaving a headless corpse behind... the head stays in tact but instead is completely dyed black from the explosion. Ever see Looney Toons? Same exact thing. Except, you know, she actually IS dead and it becomes face palm worthy due to Travis' drama following it.

Secondly, you don't cut Shinobu's hand off in the censored version, instead they make it seem you broke her wrist.
Other than that, it's in tact. All the cussing and fanservice is there.

Wait, so it's not that guy from Samurai Champloo doing the voices? I'll definitely snag a copy then. I hate that dude's voice.
So, are both versions being censored? Censorship is a big turnoff for me.
no just ps3

In other words, lame. Yes, censor the game for the console that's actually easy to import with.

I plan on getting a Wii just to play the original 2 games, however I do hope this one won't require you to use any motion controlls.

The sequel on Wii uses the Classic Controller, too.

I'm going to wait for the import version to drop in price. I don't the wii version. It would be nice to find a list of trophies/achievements for it.

It would be more value if they added move/natal controls even it's later on. I enjoyed the wii controls and was at least hoping move control could be added. oh well such is life.

Does the 360 do this?, but i was reading that ps 3 with bayonetta(jap version) the game would make the trophies convert into English thus having readable names for them. This would help in buying the import version. ;)

No More Heroes was the main reason I wanted a Wii, well, that and One Piece: Unlimited Adventure, but sadly I can't find that cheap anywhere. I bought a Wii late last year and NMH1 and NMH2 are the only games I own for it and so far only ones I've even played on the Wii. The Wii is basically not a video game system to me but instead "Something which allows me to play the No More Heroes series."

That's not to say I won't play other games eventually, but I just don't care to right now, especially considering most of the good ones (Like Super Mario Galaxy) are still quite expensive.

Basically, I spent $150 on a Wii to play these two games and I don't regret it, and I don't tend to make large purchases like that, so I can't encourage you enough to "DO IT".

I'm unsure, but it is sort of a moot point. The 360 release won't work on an American console.
