lol and to think there's a yard sale going on right next door, and I can't be bothered to walk over and see what is there.

i have a lady who is supposed to call me about something like that with an NES about 75+ games...im just waiting and hoping i get as lucky as you
UPDATE 2 - today score

100_0076.jpg.w300h200.jpg

Started off in a hurry to get to THE LADY'S house. I saw a sign as I pulled around the corner and could not resist stopping even though I was in a hurry. There on the table to my wonderment was a single SNES game - Zombies Ate My Neighbors (cart only) - I offered up 50 cents without hesitation she stuck out her hand and did'nt say a word. I thanked her and hustled off to my car. I began to think maybe this is a sign of better things to come.

I got to THE LADY's house and there were quite a few people outside. She recognized me and said, "you're the guy for the games - right?" I said yes and she invited me into her house because "it was too much to drag outside" I started going through a nicely stored box of NES games all packed in nice Nintendo Storage boxes. The first few boxes I opened I saw Ninja Gaiden, Mega Man 2, Adventure Island, Adventures of LOLO with instruction books. I immediately asked how much for the games and she replied $1.50 each. I think to myself - mmmmm let's go for the whole shibang. How much for everything? I asked. She seemed a little bewildered and said let me call my husband - she did and handed me the phone. I talked to the guy and he said $100 for everything. I immediately said listen I got $75 cash for everything. He said OK. I thanked her and handed the phone back to his wife and hauled my stuff to the car. Before I left the lady said there was more stuff that her husband needed to go through. I offered her my number and said call me when you're ready to sell more.

I went through everything and I'll post a list later. There's quite a few games I never heard of and hopefully there's those 1 or 2 rare games that will help me to recoup my $75. I would appreciate it if any CAG spots anything of significant value

All in all I scored

153 NES games most with instructions and nintendo sleeves
11 storage bins with lids
NES wireless remotes in box with papers
NES advantage
2 NES guns
Atari 2600 rollerball controller
Holy shit! That is awesome! Great job snot!

PS: Do you (or anyone) else have an extra NES power adapter you'd be willing to sell cheap?

There's some decent games there... most of them are very common.

The Dizzy games and the other games with the switches were made by Camerica... here's a website detailing them.

http://www.answers.com/topic/camerica

I think those games might be rare, but not sure if they fetch a high value.

The only rare and expensive games I've seen, from putting together an nes collection, are the games that were released late into the system's life - Contra Force, Mighty Final Fight, Flintstones 2 (I've seen this one go for over 100 dollars complete), Fire n Ice goes for a good amount I believe, not to mention Dragon Warrior 2 - 4.

Another website for Camerica with rarity listings, probably from Mike Etler's list (I think that's what his name was.)

http://tnca.myrmid.com/camerica.htm

It's too bad you didn't get Flintstones 2... look at the value on it -

115 for cart only, over 300 for complete!!

amazing deal man. my only find this weekend was a IBM Netvista computer, P4, 128 mb video card windows XP home, 512 mb ram, 80 gb hd. The girl paid 1500 for it, had it a year and she said it wouldnt turn on. So i looked at the back and she had it set on the wrong voltage. she had it marked for 25 but i got it for 15 bucks :)

First off, you have no idea how jealous I am of the great finds you seem to get every week!!!!!!! Hats off to you, brother.

Today, I went through a few neighborhoods that I thought would have great sales, but it turned out that I was only able to find about 10 in my 4 hours of searching.
I picked up a pretty nice book about the history of the American Presidency for a dollar.
The only video game related thing that I saw (which I bought) was a game guide for Ocarina of Time in pretty good shape. I got that for $.50.
Better luck for me next week.

Evilmax and I visited 32 yardsales today. 2 of the 3 purchases were from unadvertised sales.

I had my first purchase stolen from under my nose. One lady had a Harry Potter Lego set on a table, and a woman was standing right in front of it with two other items. I couldn't tell if she was planning to buy it or not, so I waited for her to move so I could pick it up. She didn't move, and finally she asked the lady how much the Lego was. My mind screamed "No!" and I watched as she purchased it along with some other Harry Potter merchandise (which I was uninterested in). Not a big deal, but knowing that you just missed something you wanted to buy certainly is a letdown.

We're already looking forward to next week!

I just read the whole thread, you guys are crazy awesome. I just got back from an old lady thrift store-

2 German Beer-drinking Songs records
1 Logitech Mouseman Wheel (non-optical)
1 Sim City SNES

Total: $3

Nothing amazing, but then again I only hit 4 today, not 60!

i need to find games at my yard sales!!!! and yes, the best ones are the un-adversties ones :) although i am still happy about my p4 computer for 15 bucks

Holy Crap! - I just tested about 50 games I got today and all but 1 started up first time. These games were well taken care of. Having to clean these bad boys up would have taken up much time. Upon inspection of all games the connectors are all bright and shiney. fucking sweet!

That was one sweet score - everything functioning on your PC?

Or, you could have explained the problem to her letting her know that it still had value or at least given her the $25.

i didnt relize that was the problem till i got home. i was just going to use it for parts or maybe buy a new power supply. If i had seen it there i prob would have pointed it out. But hell im not going to argue

went to a huge multi family yard sale inside, thank god it is hotter then hell here after 8am, bought 2 genises, and 27 games for 25 dollars. i know not a great deal but one of the games was SHIning FORCE, the other great game was shinning force 2, so i was happy as hell. also got 3 n64 games for 3 dollars

Just had a major cleaning fest, and I can't heap enough praise onto Mr. Clean's Magic Erasers. I had to clean a NES that was covered with filth, grime, and stickers, and it took less than 2 minutes to have it looking like a new console. They work on everything (they even take off sticker goo), and they make cleaning a real breeze. If you're buying old dirty systems or cartridges on a regular basis, you owe it to yourself to pick up a pack of these.

Mr. Clean, you get an A+.

Thanks for the heads up - I'm gonna get some of these and have my own cleanfest. I,ve got quite a few systems and games in need of a good cleaning. Got an after cleaning pic of that NES - is that the one you got last weekend? It was kinda nasty looking

Yeah, it's the one from last weekend, and it was much worse than the pics made it look. My camera sucks for detail, but I gave the after shots a try anyway. Trust me when I say that the NES is dirtier than it looks in the before, and cleaner (visually as mint as can be) in the afters.

Before:

After:

I would say the entire process took 6 minutes. 1 minute to pick off the stickers (leaving goo behind). 2 minutes to give it a rub down with the magic eraser (including getting most of the gunk in the vents) and drying with a paper towel, and then 3 minutes getting the gunk out of the corners of the vents with a toothpick (that's always the hardest/worst part).

I went light on the red paint on the Nintendo logos and stuff, as I didn't want it to smudge or come off. But I did go over it lightly, and there was no visible red on the eraser, so take that for what it's worth. I'd still be careful there.

Edit: No residue or anything either.

The Connectors.

I'm pretty sure the standard practice is to use dip Q-tips into isoprophyl alcohol, and to run them back and forth over the connectors. I'm not sure if you're supposed to dilute it or not though...

Nice! Looks like this product is a must for me. The after pic of the top looks mighty clean.

A little off topic but to those of you following this thread.

After todays pickup of Zombies Ate my Neighbors for .50 I'm even more confident I'm gonna find Secret of Mana on the cheap.... I can almost feel it. This is the one game that I've been contemplating throwing down good money for. But I'll refrain for now.

Went to do my first day of yard saleing today. Out of all the places I went only one ended up having any video games. I got a ps2 w/ 11 game for $100. NBA 2k3
NBA Street 2
Need for Speed Hot Pursuit 2
Need for Speed Underground
Tony Hawk Underground
Rayman Arena
XGRA
ATV Offroad Fury 2
The Suffering
Kinetica
NBA Live 2004

You're off to a pretty good start. I would have played it a little different, and low balled her to like $70 with the premise that most of those games are older, or asked her how much for everything and then try to haggle down from her response. $100 is not bad for that especially if you don't have a PS2 already. It's almost always in your best interest to shoot low cause most people selling this stuff are aiming high with their initial prices. A lot of people will try to play you but it's up to you to know when they are. You're the one in control cause you got the cash. You'll eventually get a feel for it. review evilmax's tips and try to keep that stuff in mind on your next outing. It's good to see more CAG's recognizing the bang you get for your buck at yard sails

If someone here can find a Sega Saturn for cheap, let me know. I've been looking for one of these for awhile. I have found nothing. The garage sales in my area yield very few game finds.

On your recommendation I purchased a 4-pack today and I'll be damned if it is'nt everything you said it would be and then some. This is an absolutely amazing product

To the guy who needed a Dreamcast I have one that maybe you could trade for. And TPS congrats on the SFTurbo find, thats worth like $35 by itself!

allright cml. i might not be able to trade for about 2 more weeks. let me know what you saw/how much regaurdless.

My garage sales are always for useless crap such as house deco, baby clothes etc; all I ever wanted was cheap stereo/vintage stereo stuff :(

Haven't found anything gaming related worth talking about in a while. But this past Saturday I picked up ~20 Hallmark ornaments from the Star Wars and Star Trek line (all mint in box) for about $50. Most of them are actually pretty neat, quite a few have lights or even some sort of voice/sound. Some of those suckers were $30+ new. (I can't imagine spending that much on an ornament myself...)

Also got 4 suits for $5 each. But I think I'll end up having to spend $40-50 per suit to have them fit to my frame. They nearly fit, but definitely need a little work before I'd wear them in public. I'm pretty tall and if I see another tall dude running a sale I always check to see if they are selling any decent clothes.

I needed a spare DVD player and I got one of them for $5 at another sale. Seems to work fine, I just hope it doesn't poop out on me after a short while.

I went out early this morning. I didn't find much at the first two. When I went to the third sale on my list, it wasn't open yet, so I decided to drive aroud a little bit. Right around the corner, I found another sale. Here is what I found.

I paid $20 for all of that, except for the the Dune game. I got that at another sale. The people having that sale had gotten all of the stuff out of storage, so most of it was in boxes. I paid for all of that and as I was leaving, I decided to take a look at some boxes at the side.

I paid $3 total for those three guides. :D Now I just wish I coud find the systems. I've been trying to find a working NES, SNES, and a Sega Saturn.

Very nice finds on those guides. $20 for the lot including a cart only FF2 isn't shabby, but $3 for those guides is a freaking Manhattan.

If you had seen the guides before paying the $20, you probably could have got them thrown in for free
went to one yesterday and found nada.

im telling you i have bad luck, lol.
Just keep trying. Most of the time finding deals is about being observant, patient, and doing some planning. Those finds of mine were by luck. None of the other sales I went to today had anything that good.

I checked and the saturn game has a 4 rareity value at digital press. That's probably the rarest thing in my collection.
