Yeah,$50 wouldnt even cover the shipping. IF he sold it,it would easily go for hundreds if not thousands
Thousands!?
Thousands!?
scorch ive personally seen a couple hit near a thousand...so i guess it might be possible.

There's been only 1 garage sale deal that I found -actually my GF found it. It was the Xbox Live kit (w/ Crimson Skies, Headset, and 12 mo card) sealed that retails for $70 for only $5.
She seen it and held it up wondering if I'd be interested in it. I walked over to her and looked at the box- it was a little beat up & opened. So, I took everything out and saw it was still unopened on the inside. I then looked at the price and he had a $5 sticker on the outside. I got so excited, that I immediately went up and paid for it & a few other things. When we got home I used the 12 Xbox live card and thought to myself, "you should have asked if he had any other Xbox stuff he wanted to sell". Five Bucks is worth it alone for Crimson Skies! Garage sale finds rock!

Your smokin crack. I have never seen ANY Kiosk unit go for 'thousands'. Heck, there was a fella here trying to sell an XBOX one and he only got $200-$300 IIRC. Dreamcast may rock, and may be kinda 'old' but its not going to be worth thousands. Tops $400. Lowest, $250.

Also, I have the top part to that Dreamcast unit. Where the TV goes, the system, and the controllers. One day I plan on either finding the bottom half, or rigging up my own stand.

Yep.. I think that XBox Retail kiosk went for about $225 or $250.. there's no way it'd hit $500.

The only retail kiosk i'd ever expect to hit $500-$1000 (and you won't find it on ebay) is the ones at some EB's.. the only reason it'd go for so much is because it has a NICE flatscreen TV in there.

Ugh. Wow, I'm having no luck. The past week, I hit up about 10 garage/yard sales. Only one of them had games, if remeber correctly. Wanna know what it was? A Nintendo 64, priced at $25. Three games were there -- they were absolute crap. NHL 99, and a couple other useless games, each with a $5 price tag. Oh, there were also controllers marked at $10 a piece.

I did score a pair of mesh Nike shorts for $1, though! =P

Let me re-iterate: I am absolutely flabbergasted at how cheap you get some of these things. A dollar for a GameBoy is just mind-boggling to me.

Agreed. Everything down here is either insanely priced, or nonexistant. I've gotten up a few times real early to go hunting and i've never ended up with anything video game related.. and i've hunted in three different cities in the Nashville area as well. The only gaming related thing i've seen is Madden '99 for $5. On PS1.

found a madcatz lynx wireless xbox controller at my local goodwill for $5,nothing big but it sure works well. They also had a Live starter kit with mechassault with it but they wanted $30 so i passed

between the headset and mech you can get i think 12 credit....so an 18 dollar year of live for someone IS nice

At my local Swap:

finds626.jpg

NES:

Werewolf the Last Warrior
Skate or Die 2
Pac Man (tengen)
Castlevania
River City Ransom

SNES:

Kirby Dream Course

Genesis:

Super Street Fighter 2
Fatal Fury

All of the above for $2 each

Soul Calibur 2 - $7

Xbox Live Headset kit - $11 Wink

Panasonic 3do FZ-1 system and of course I found a game inside Madden Football - $8 Gah!

Atari Lynx with Electrocop inside - $8 Gah!

The Lynx and 3do I got from the same person, talked him down from 10 each. Both systems work! Big Smile

The Xbox live kit was 20, but the person had a couple of NES games I wanted, so I did a 3 for $15, saving me 9 bucks.

An excellent day for the swap meet.

i think i got a good deal at flea market today, which is a real pick up after yesterdays waste of time

road rash for saturn
doom for saturn
duke em for saturn

3 dollars a peice

i got a disk for the dreamcast for .25
it was called bleem, and allows you to play gran turismo 2 on your dreamcast
if i am not mistaken this is a real collectors deal since they were sued and forced to stop selling it, or i could be wrong, if somebody knows please tell me

also got micro machines for sega for 8 bucks, i know is pricey but i have looked for that game for 2 months so i said what the hell, cant get em all cheap
That bleem disk is nothing special, but makes the game look really nice
WHAT ABOUT THE FACT YOU CAN PLAY A PS1 GAME ON THE DREAMCAST DONT THAT MAKE IT MORE VALUBLE THEN .25
Ok,its worth more then .25,but its not a collectible by any means
Hell, EB was selling a ton of them back in the day for 10 cents. They also had Bleem disks for Tekken 3 and Metal Gear Solid.
WHAT ABOUT THE FACT YOU CAN PLAY A PS1 GAME ON THE DREAMCAST DONT THAT MAKE IT MORE VALUBLE THEN .25
Wow, newbie alert.

Anyways, no, its not 'rare'. Its cool, but not worth more then a buck or two.

evilmax I hate you. That is all.

(nice score on the DC kiosk, I've been looking to get one of those for $200 or under)

I remember when I had the MGS bleem disk . The game looked sweet but the controls were funky, and the picture was to dark

Those GT2 Bleem discs sold at EB for .10.. i think.. then they were free to anyone who wanted 'em.. no one even took 'em so they had to junk them.. so no, not worth much.

I have Bleem for PC.. lets me play any PS1 game on my computer.. pretty nice, too bad that it is not compatible with WinXP..

I have the top of the unit possibly for sale. Includes the controller 'holders' as well.

Found a Harvest Moon for the GBC at a flea market this weekend for $5.00 - not too shabby. Also a few weekends ago I picked up a game gear with a rechargeable battery pack and a couple of kiddy games at a yard sale for $5.00 (road runner, lion king, can't really remember if there was anything else maybe some disney game). There's a booth at a flea market near me that has all kinds of old school game stuff but they don't sell it cheap and don't have anything that spectacular. Is space invaders for the Game Gear any good?

OP updated with Yard Sale tips (thanks snotknocker).

To those who haven't gone yet: Make plans to get out there this weekend! The only hard part is getting up early, and if you have a hard time going to bed before midnight then go to CVS and pick yourself up some Simply Sleep (non-prescription, made by Tylenol, relatively cheap, completely safe/non-addictive and knocks you out).

Get out there!

Bump for tomorrow...
Scored a box of 25 NES games today at a goodwill for $30...Bit pricey but Mega Man 2 and 3 were included (which I already have, so their goin on ebay).
Evilmax, do you have a hard time waking up after taking those simply sleeps?
Nothing too bad, just the usual morning fuzzies. I usually take it at ~9pm, fall asleep at ~10pm, and wake up at ~7am. That's a good 9 hours of sleep, and I think they're designed to wear off after 8 hours. As long as you didn't take them too late, a few sips of Coke or coffee will snap you right up.

There were literally zero "yardsales of interest" for us advertised, so we're going sans-list today. We were supposed to get slammed with thunderstorms today, but that fell through. I'm not expecting much today, but then again I never do.

Good luck today, we're out!

I only found 3 sales that had any decent game-related stuff, but did get some good deals, especially on the Virtual Boy:

$5 for
Virtual Boy System(complete w/ box, everything in great shape)
Mario Tennis
Red Alarm

$2 for 2 GB games:
Bubble Bobble Part 2
TMNT: Fall of the Foot Clan

$1 for
Original GB system + Tecmo Super Bowl

No games today but I did get YAMAHA PSR-220 keyboard for $5, the lady wanted $10. I asked if it worked she said as far as she knows it does. Then I noticed there was no power supply so I said "do you have the plug" she says "no" I say "I'll take a chance on this thing working and if it does'nt I won't bring it back, will you take $5" She says "ok, keep in mind the plug will probably cost you $10 or $15 at radio shack" I bid her a fare ado go home take the plug from one of my multiple NES systems, plug it into my keyboard and now I'm doing my best Ray Manzarek impersonation
100_0064.jpg.w300h200.jpg

1 SNES console deck
2 controllers (1 with Start/Select gouged out)
1 RF hookup (cable severed)
1 Mortal Kombat (SNES, cart only)
Paid: $2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We drove around 6 different towns and only found 6 yard sales. The lack of advertised sales should've offered a hint, but we didn't know that it would be THAT desolate (we kind of forgot/underestimated the 4th of July weekend).

The SNES was at this farmhouse located at the end of a dirt road. This old man with an old smoker's voice had some dirty stuff on his truck. I saw a NES with controllers and no hookups, but passed on it. I asked if he had any other game stuff, and he brought me inside to show me an N64 hooked up to an old small TV, and about 9 games. He wanted $25 for the system, games, and TV, but I passed. He also brought me around back to his shed where he found the SNES. He offered $2, I offered $1, he laughed, and I gave him the $2.

Upon leaving, he told us that "everything in the barn is free", so we took a look around. The whole place was dirty as hell, but we found 2 porn magazines from 1975, so we took them. Flipped through them a little in the car, but found a bunch of mouse turds and decided to throw it out at the nearest gas station. Still, not every day you find old porn.

6 sales was kind of a letdown, but it's understandable with the holiday weekend. I'm wondering there'll be a YS overflow next weekend. Ah well.

I use mine for my keyboard too...NICE FIND!

came to northern minnesota for my grandmother's early 90th birthday. decided i would hit up some sales when i was here. went to one where i saw just a box of old nintendo power magazines (20 or so marked free) which i grabbed on my way out and also found these guides all for .25:

xenogears
wild arms
paper mario
mario 64
tomb raider
banjo kazooie
alundra 2
legend of zelda ocarina of time

i offered 4 for the entire lot of them and she took it. also in the nintendo power box was a sega saturn demo disc (christmas nights) and some psm's and national geographics. not too bad in my opinion.

i know that the total of these doesn't even meet 4 bucks, but those were the better of the guides, not to mention i know some of them go for quite a bit of money on half and ebay....

Haggled with a little kid over his gameboy games-- offered him $20 for Metroid Fusion and Zelda:Lttp. Lil' bastard said "no way, I paid $50 for each of these." so of course, I knocked him over and stole everything.

Went to about 12-13 yardsales and only two of them had games. At the last one I went to I got Zone of the Enders: 2nd Runner for $5, Super Mario All-stars (cart-only) $2, and two SNES controllers for $1. I also earlier picked up a cool Batman Returns Video store standee mint never taken out of the box for $8.

Picked this puppy up from a little kid who wanted $10 and I offered up $5 he looked at his mother who replied "It's your game" The little kid snatched the five out of my hand before Mom's even got the last word out

Another yard sale tip - use this at your own descretion

If someone gives you a price on something that's not what you're wiling to pay. Walk around and look a little more get the cash ready that you're willing to pay and stick it in the persons face and say will you take (whatever price) for it? Sometimes when the cash is in their face, they opt to snatch up your offer

Not a bad idea (assuming it's not very windy outside). Tempting the kiddy with greens sounds like a good strategy. Since kids usually have a high probability to make rash and quick decisions if something seems appealing.

this works for adults as well

Just out of curiosity, I realize you guys find some great deals, but on the off hand you don't, doesn't the price of gas just kill the hunt?

I would imagine that yard sale hunting is as much about the adventure as it is about finding good deals, so spending some gas money is a small cost for being outdoors early Saturday morning.

What would I know though, I've never gone garage sale hunting before.

Does anybody know where I should look to find flea markets? (online). I've been googling without any luck, and I'm completely new to this.

I can hit an entire town with 1 Gallon of gas ($2.50 here). Worth it to grab a system and games for $5 :)

- local yellow pages search under flea markets?

A nearby church had a sale, so I went to check that out and hit a couple sales on the way back home. Nothing at the church; they seemed to have no idea what to price anything there. Only gaming stuff was a box containing an Intellivision, a handful of games, an NES zapper, and some bag which I didn't look in, since the box was marked $70 (unless that was the most messed up 1 I've ever seen). They're supposed to be having a thing tomorrow where you pay $2 for anything you can fit in a box, and since I think they really want to get rid of their stuff, I might head back tomorrow and see if I can get it for cheap. Anyway, the only thing I found on the way home was a CD of EPMD's Strictly Business in excellent condition for $2. I've been wanting it, so a nice find.
After last week I don't know if I want to go out again...tons of yard sales, not 1 find.
A bitter pill I'm sure, but don't give up! You never know what you might miss ;)

It's looking better than last week for us, but not by too much. Not that many advertised sales, I think partially due to the weather (might be some vacation carryover too). We'll still head out though, see what we can find. We've been out while it's been sprinkling, and it doesn't seem to stop people much.
Showers early then scattered thunderstorms developing later in the day. High 66F. Winds N at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%
 Doesn't sound too promising though.

All I'm hoping is that we miss the downpours. After last week being null and this week looking like a washout, I'm getting YS withdrawl!

Got up late, heading out late but the last time I got a late start I scored pretty well - maybe the yardsale gods will shine their thrift upon me today. good luck all

Bah. It was lightly raining all morning, and most of the sales we had on our list were canceled. We ended up finding 5 sales, and they all blew.

First week that we've gone out and come back with nothing. If last week sucked, and this week sucked, then NEXT week better be friggin gold!

No great scores today - 2 snes games cart only - brunswick bowling and championship pool 25 cents each - I passed on a PS one with 6 sports games for $10 and a slew of geneisis sports titles complete for $1 each. At a local flea market I also passed on secret of mana for the snes (i've been wanting this game for some time). It was complete mint in box the guy wanted $30. When he told me the price I was like "did you forget to take your meds today? I'll give you $10" He shot me a look like I was the one that had forgotten to take his meds. I wished him good luck and went amongst my business. Pickins get a little slim in July and August. Things should pick up in sept and early oct.

I don't mean to be a douche, but you do know a complete Secret of Mana fetches 50 - 60 on Ebay, right?

He was offering you a hell of a deal in the first place, I would have snatched up that $30 dollar SoM in a heartbeat.

Hell, cart only dosen't even go as low as $10... you're looking at 20 - 25 for cart only by itself.
