You sound like you've got some experience with bargain hunting. If you got any tips I'm sure that Evilmax would add it to the tip list in the first post.
Yeah, I've been going to garage sales since I was an infant getting dragged along by my mother. I've deffinately got the bargain bug. The only real tips I could provide would not be game related. Here are a few tips:
-It's a good idea to bring along USPS Postal Bins in your car. They are durable, free, and you can put stuff in them to keep it from rolling around in the back of your car (which often damages items). It will also make it easier to carry all your finds inside if you purchase a lot. If you find any cotton tshirts free or cheap, keep some in your trunk in the box to wrap glass or fragile items.
-If you have a cell phone, and you're spending a lot on your bill each month, look into getting a PDA style phone such as a T-Mobile Sidekick II. For $60 a month, I get 1000 minutes and unlimited Data plan. The phone is an invalueable research tool, and has saved me from making big mistakes while out on the hunt, and convinced me to purchase things I would have otherwise left at the Yard Sale or Thrift Store.
I can tell you gobs of information about what to look for in the lines of old toys, books, and movies.. but that'd be off topic, and I don't think any of you would care, heh. I've sold at least 6 books this summer for over $100 that I paid $1 or less for, with tons more to go through and list on eBay or Half.com I just picked up a book on Apple Computer Industrial Design for a buck at a local thrift last weekend and that's worth $110. I make enough money selling used books and other stuff that I buy from Thrift Stores and Yard Sales that I don't have to have a job though. I quit my job in February and I do eBay / Half.com full time.
Also, if anyone find s an Atari 2600 that works.. hit me up. The lady that works at the post office has been telling me to find one for her, but I have yet to find one this year.. it's driving me crazy. Especially considering how many I used to see in the early 90s..
