I walked into a pawn shop and just before I left I noticed they had several Super Nintendo games. I went and looked through them and saw that they had Final Fantasy III, not a bad find. I asked the lady behind the counter, "How much are your Super Nintendo games?" She said they are 6 bucks a piece. It's a bit more than I would normally spend, but I thought, "what the hey,"

Here's the best part...

I continued to look through and found the following games:

Chrono Trigger
Harvest Moon
Final Fantasy III
Earthbound
Secret of Mana
Super Metroid
The Legend of the Mystical Ninja

When I went to check out, the lady said, "Since you're buying so many, I'll give them to you for 5 dollars a game." AWESOME!

Hit up the flea market on a whim yesterday. Ended up with a top-loader NES, all cables, one dogbone controller, one zapper, and manuals for the console and zapper for $30. A little more than I wanted to spend, but I finally found one.

I dropped by a pawn shop I don't usually visit after going for today's BB peny guide drop. I picked up:

Big O volume 2 sealed $2.95
THX 1138 Director's Cut $10

Man, I'm really itching for the yard sale season to get back up and running.

Ah, still a couple more months before garage sale season starts up here in Indiana. I'm jealous of those of you living in warm states. I actually found very few video games last summer even though I went to well over a thousand garage sales, but I enjoy it and it's good exercise (I usually go to neighborhood sales, park my car, and walk around).

I've had better luck finding non-video game stuff like furnirture, decorations, and random appliances. I also bought a pretty nice cd collection last year for 25 cents per cd and found plenty of cheap DVDs. I may try to get out of the suburbs this year and visit garage sales in small towns, as all of the houses in the suburbs are brand new and the young couples that live there don't seem to have a lot of games. Mostly I see kids games and sport games for PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube...I rarely see any vintage stuff.

That's a pretty good price for a toploader.

Nice.

Wow, you guys get some great deals. This thread has inspired me to go out and look at some local flea markets & yard sales.

Not as good as the $2 I paid for mine....console only, but man, that tied for my best find of last year (with Final Fantasy III (Loose SNES) for $5) :whistle2:\"

I can relate to seeing "those" kind of games at yardsales/thrifts/flea markets. I think it's safe to say that most yardsalers interested in games mostly see this kind of junk. I've had some steals myself but it's tough and alot of work finding the vintage gems or even something curent that's worth playing that isn't very common at yardsales. I've found out that any good games go quick in my neck of the woods, as I would image it does in most areas. Where your yardsaling helps if you have a good place to farm for games I'm sure. That is the only logical reason I can come up with for why some CAG seems to find good retro stuff about every other week if not more often during the yardsaling season.

OT but the first person I see this season selling any Boy Band related items like a picture or doll at a yardsale or the flea market I'm probably going to hit :D Their should be a law against trying to sell junk as the such and these people should just be forced to throw this stuff away if they don't want it lol
When I wasn't looking, my wife sold my Saturn, along with Dragon Force (disc only) for $20. I almost divorced her on the spot.
ouch. my wife already knows this is grounds for separation.

or murder.

Fortunately for me my wife would never sell anything of mine. Though she will push me to sell some stuff . I literally have games and systems in every single room of my house including both bathrooms . I might get a "You need to clean up some of these games" or "there's games everywhere!" every once and a while, but ultimately she reaps some of the rewards on yard sale stuff that I turn for a nice profit, so she's really very good about the whole gaming thing.

Sheesh, I wish the Goodwill's near me would sell some halfway decent stuff. Anyway, do you guys think that I should buy a new sealed box of Donkey Konga drums from GameStop for $5? The yard sale season around where I live doesn't really kick in, until around summertime. I can't wait, I used to hate these things, but after seeing some of the deals you guys got I can't wait to go on a search for some vintage stuff. I really want a N64 & a Sega Genesis. The flea markets around here are pretty much nothing but a huge joke. The vendors that are indoors will over price their stuff, and will let it set there. The only way to get a decent deal is to show up early and look at the outside vendors, because they're usually there to make a quick buck.

Sheeyah, my Goodwills never have anything good either.

Anyway, about the Bongos... If you have DKJB/Donkey Konga 1 or 2, and you want another set of bongos for multiplayer, then go ahead. If you want it to try and resell it, then don't bother, as they're not valuable at all.

Get the bongos for $5. I've never even seen a set at any yardsale or flea market and I'm out almost religiously every weekend.

I think a lot of flea markets are similar when it comes to the regular vendors. I do find very good deals from time to time at flea markets but not from regular vendors. With this hobby whether your scouting flea markets or yardsales, 99% of the time your best deals are gonna be found if your an early bird looking to catch the worm

Cut out one of her kidneys while she's sleeping and sell it. Sounds like a fair revenge.

I don't have a GameCube at the moment, but I do want to buy one in the future, so I think I'm going to pick a set up if they still have them. It's pretty hard to go wrong for $5 bucks. ;)

You, my friend, are a pack rat. But you're a video game pack rat, so that makes you okay in my book.

And IM me if you ever need a house sitter.

I have the opportunity to pick up a complete Sega Dreamcast system at a consignment sale for a reasonable price. It has all of the cables, two controllers, and black Sega Dreamcast carrying bag (a really nice bag). It has two games an NFL 2001 game and a Pixar collection game. I am not all that interested in the package, but would be willing to pick it up if someone is. Would like to trade for a used Wii game if possible. PM if you have any questions or interest.
I haven't found anything good yet. Goodwill and salvation army have been pretty dry. Garage sales are dead in this area for a few months and there is really never anything good on craigslist on my area. I do have a tip. Make sure to put in craigslist.com. Craiglist.com is a porn site.
...i regret not reading this post first
And IM me if you ever need a house sitter.
I'll do that but first you must promise to never fart in my recliner and to always close the lid on the toilet so none of my GBA games accidently get knocked in and flushed away.

Well, I ended up going to a flea market last week.
I got there pretty late, at around 11:00.

I drove up there (finally old enough to drive!) and was walking around with my little brother, just looking around. I figured I wouldn't find much because it was so late, and there's competition everywhere.

Anyway, I see this guy with a bin of games, but they were old and dirty. You know, yellowed mario/duckhunt carts with ripped labels, the random array of common NES games, some random SNES games.

Lo and behold, at the very bottom...I find something I've been looking for FOREVER!

I walked out of there with

Megaman X3 - $3.00

About 4 times the amount I'd usually pay for a game (thanks Evilmax for making me so cheap through looking at your finds >_

flea Market finds today

Fade to Black
Williams Arcade
TOTAL- $2
Guy was asking $1 each and I always wanted to play FTB and $1 for a Sinistar fix seemed pretty fair so I just forked over the cash.

Final Fantasy VIII (playing cards and case)
X (playing cards and case)
TOTAL - $1
I was a little surprised when the guy said .50 each when I was looking at them. Unfortunately these were the last 2 he had.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night (complete - mint disc - small tear on book)
TOTAL - $5
Picked this up off of one of the regular vendors. This guy seldom has any new games and has no clue when it comes to the value of any game for any system. The one thing he does know is that I'm a collector and selective, so he try's to bang me over the head every time I want to buy something. today was no exception. I noticed from afar somebody buying 2 PS1 games. I could'nt see the games but I did see the kid give him $6. I walked up and checked the short stack of PS1 games he had and asked how much holding up a copy of a Crash game. He comes back with "for you $10" I shake my head in disbelief and then see the SOTN and hold that up and he says "that one is $8" Now I'm pissed because this guy is certainly trying to take advantage of me. Not that $8 for SOTN is a bad price but had it been the kid before me buying it hew would of only paid $3. So I walk up to the guy and tell him that I think he's fucked up for trying to jack his price up on me and let him know I saw the kid before me pay $3 a game. So he gets like "oh no no no" and I'm like "oh yes yes yes" as this exchange is going on I whip out $5 and CIF him. He looks at me then looks at the cash and takes it simultaneously turning his back and waliking away. most vendors that I regularly buy stuff from tend to give a better deal, this guy was the exception which really pissed me off. There might be a lesson here that when dealing with flea market vendors on a regular basis you might not want to divulge to much info. Rant over !

Wow neat. Where'd you find the X playing cards?

Edit: Cool, I wish I could find more random anime stuff.

Yardsale seasons is just beginning to take form. There were a few scattered estate sales this morning, but nothing we planned to hit. I feel like I haven't been yardsaling in AGES, and craigslist has been pretty barren. I think I'm about ready to get out there...

I got a used Agetec Dreamcast ("The Green Goblin") the other day for $20 off Craig's List. Not sure if it works yet, since I am out of town.

Cool thing is a VMU was still in it. I never thought I'd see the day where I would own one of these arcade sticks :)

I forgot to add I also picked up complete mint copies of Strangers Wrath and Darkwatch for Xbox on Ebay for $17 and change shipped . I know it's a little pricey for me but I almost bought both of them for full price when they came out, so the abstinence paid off and I kinda feel like I actually saved money.
Wow neat. Where'd you find the X playing cards?
I know your into the Manga/anime stuff. If you like em? Their yours. I'm not really into X. PM me an address and I'll ship em to you - no charge
snot you need to change your custom title back to CIF King :)
I was thinking the same thing. - Done

Wow you sure? Thank you so much! :D I will PM you in a few minutes.

not a problem - just keep me in mind if you and max come across a cheapass copy of secret of mana or paper mario for the N64 this year.

Went to a fleamarket and hit up one of the outside vendors that was just starting to set up his tables.

Picked up a SNES, 1 controller and Mario Paint Mouse. No power supply or cables though. Got it all for $6.

Just needs a bit of cleaning. He also had a yellowed SNES console, I should have picked it up, too. Probably could have got it for like a buck.

I went to the flea market today, and I came home with...

A Link to the Past(SNES)- $5

That wasn't bad. But when I was walking to my car, I saw an old basket of wires. I looked in, and sitting there were three N64 first-party controllers, a Dreamcast first-party controller, and a Dreamcast console, no cables. I only had four bucks on me at the time, so I asked the guy if I could have it all for $4. He obliged. And when I got home, I tested the Dreamcast on my cables. It works. So do the controllers.

EDIT: Dreamcast worked, and then made this huge robo-flatulation and died. I felt bad...but it was so damn funny. I've never heard those noises come out of a machine before.

Stuff for Friday and Saturday:

PSX Games were $5. Too bad Rival Schools needs disc 2.

GB games were $15

$20 for 13 games, about $1.50 each. :)

I was getting some pizza today at a place I have never seen before and next door was a place called Videotronics. There are tons of signs on the front window, the ones that catch my eye are all video games buy 1 get 1 free, and we buy used movies and video games. The place looks old, dirty, and lots of VHS's in the window. Unfortunately they were closed, this place looks like a haven for vintage stuff.

I'll update if I find anything.

i don't know how you did it Kuros. it's too bloody hot down here for me. i hate these days -- too much sun and HEAT. summer isn't even here yet and i'm already wishing for it to be over.

Those GB games were a lucky find. I had nothing all day on Saturday until I got those. That was my last stop.

At Goodwill this year I have picked up

Tales of Destiny (ps1) $1.00

SimCity (snes) $3.00

Metroid (nes) $3.00

They also had a official NES cleaning kit for $3.00 still in box but I didnt have enough cash to get it.

My dad found some stuff yesterday while he was out and about and he got me:

Genny:

Desert Strike
Hard Drivin
Sonic and Knuckles
Ecco
Ecco Tides of Time

n64:

Blitz 2000

Ok ok , im back for this year and ready to go. I know nothing can top my monopoly find from last year, but im sure willing to try. The last block of ice finally melted from in front of my house so that may be a signal to people to start gettin the sales up. Good luck to everyone!

I just picked up Zelda Ocarina of Time for my N64 for $3. That's about $2.50 more than I'd usually pay for a Nintendo game, but it's a lot less than it's going for on Ebay.

Did you get the PS1 games off of Craigslist? I saw a listing in OB for those PS1 games plus a couple others. $7 for the lot of them. Wasn't willing to drive up there for it though. This was on Thurs. or Friday last week.
