Official 2011-2012 NBA Season thread
Meh all around, its what happens when the refs botch calls all the time. THs was a flagrant maybe a 1 game ban because to me it was clear that he was intentional going after wade first and the ball just happened to be there. Look at the replay...TH is already in the air swiping downward at wade before wade even left the ground. Either you mistimed that jump or you wanted to go for a over the top hard foul. I am gonna guess wanted to go for an hard foul. UD should have also been suspended because he was going after TH.

They both should have got a 1 game ban for it because both were intentional going after player. I do praise UD for protecting his team mate...a little bit of old school basketball in nice. The entire thing isnt as big of a deal as people are trying to make it.

Plus it serves the Pacers right since they were the ones who apparently wanted to fight instead of play basketball.

Pittman and Lester.....who gives a shit both of them are pointless.
I agree, I mean, maybe Hansbrough went for the ball, but you can clearly see that he intentionally scraped at Wades' face after he missed the ball. Haslem probably woudn't have gotten suspended except for he looked like he was trying to spike a volleyball.

He was later given a Flagrant 2 on that play, which would have been an ejection. Too bad refs don't call plays correctly as they happen. Though to me, if UD got suspended so should Tyler as they both were headhunting.

Agree. In the glory days, these would just be regular fouls.

As for Pittman, that was message saying "you started it, I'm finishing it bitches"

I guess we'll have to agree to,disagree on this Haslem foul...whats done is done. Two guys bleeding from the forehead (from the same player) and punks crying over a hit on the shoulder / arm. Some of you need to go back to watching women's basketball I think it's the more appropriate sport.

I will agree that the Pacers clearly wanna pick fights and try to get into the Heats' heads, which really isn't working. Trying to intimidate Lebron James is pretty pointless. The dude's 6'8" and built like a brick shithouse. And Wade is no stronger to hard fouls.

DUDE!!!!

My boy Mike MillNasty is gunning tonight. Man I wish he didnt have so many injuries because his jumpshot is like looking down the barrel of a .50 Cal.

The defense the Pacers are playing is the same as they've been playing all season long. For those of you that have only been watching basketball for a couple of years this is the type of defense pretty much every east coast team used in the 80's, early 90's. Most teams are not used to this type of physical defense anymore. The whole reason the flagrant foul was implemented is to prevent unnecessary and excessive force that is usually not basketball related. Also, just because someone gets a cut doesn't mean it was a flagrant play. Ask Steve Nash about that one.

I do agree that the extra chatter by the Pacers is pretty stupid. Just play.

Bye bye pacers. Good they were annoying as hell. Plus I want Shane battier and mike miller to get that ring.

Speaking of which wow did west get completely out played by battier. His defense was crushing.

I think Miller deserves that ring over Battier....still the Heat will need Bosh to make a run for it vs the west. I hope whatever happens after this season they serious consider getting a good center

That's going to be difficult/impossible considering they're paying three guys over $52 million next season. It doesn't get any better in the following seasons either with $56.5 million in 2014 and $61 million in 2015. Depending on how this season shakes out, they should probably consider trading Bosh. They can win with just Wade and James but they need more help than just Bosh and they can get similar help for a lower price. Only other decent player on the team is Battier.
Interesting point so trade Bosh get a decent center and a few more bench players.
I think they're gonna have to, Wade and James are having to do too much. All the other guys on the team do is focus on defense/rebounding and maybe hit an open shot or two. The core will eventually start to break down prematurely, you can already see signs of it with Wade.

Nice effort Pacers but $tern wasn't about to let Lefraudulent James anywhere near a early exit. Hope Rondo just goes off on the Sixers and the Miami Weep, otherwise ill be reading Advance's Obituary pretty soon. Also LOL @ Bron bricking a layup then pretending hes injured to save face like hes Vince Carter.

Also lmao

All it's missing is the information for the last game of the season. Kind of hoping I don't end up having to use it. Full of cliches, because I had to write it myself.

The question is.....which center? I thought Tyson chandler would have been a good fit when he got picked up by Dallas from Chicago. He was cheap then, but now his stock is way up (over priced) due to the DPOY award.

There were four seasons and two teams between the times he was in Chicago and Dallas.
There were four seasons and two teams between the times he was in Chicago and Dallas.
Oh, I forgot about the other teams, I think he was with New Orleans, right?! I don't remember... but I thought the best time to pick him up was when he was dropped by Chicago.
He wasn't dropped by Chicago.
He was traded for JR Smith and PJ Brown... they were dumping him off at that point. He was pure garbage at that time. Tyson did get a lot better with New Orleans, being with Chris Paul... that was a good team up imo.

Whew as close as that game got and the lead kept shrinking i for sure thought advanced was in the Intensive Care Unit. Time for the Miami Sterns to take over sigh

My girlfriend surprised me with Astros/Dodgers tickets today. So I didn't even get to watch the game (watching the replay in a bit), but I have faith in this team.

I came here as soon as I could to get my current health status though, renique46. :D
I hope this series drained the C's...the last fucking thing I want to see is another Boston final. Jesus.
I'd rather see Boston in the finals for the 457025710957th time than have to watch the Miami Heat bowling team for another round. Miami's game is so aesthetically (and basketball-y) unappealing, that it's a chore to watch their games.

Don't hate us because we're beautiful. :booty:

That was some game last night. Both teams shot horribly.

Truly I want MIA to win the title solely for the fact that it should cut out 80% of the sports talk bullshit. As I have always stated I am not a fan of any one team but I hate the fact that MIA gets jammed down my throat all day every day with that lazy "Bron cant win a title" crap.

Plus, I think people forget that there are a lot of good guys on the MIA team....blind hate for Bron Bron seems to overshadow guys like Miller, Battier, Haslem, Chalmers, Anthony, Howard, Turaif and James Jones.

Those guys are the ones who are really sacrificing everything to win a title.

There wasn't a name you said besides Battier that I actually care about in any good way. Even he's kind of pushing it. That's just a personal thing though.

I get what you're saying though, but I imagine that it'll be even worse if they do win the title. What will LBJ/Wade be stupid enough to announce at the next party they have for the team? "We're going to go into space, mother fuckers, and we're gonna ball it up! Not one, not two, not three, not four, not five, not six, not seven."? The media is ALWAYS going to be on this guy's jock. Easier to ignore it than wish it didn't exist.

Edit: In before "MJ did it first."

If it weren't for the media-propelled prophecy of Bron, my hate for the Heat would be non-existent. It's funny to think pre-Decision, I would have been rooting for him. The advent of Super Crews and stars having the pull to balk and get traded and the huge shift of power from owners to players in general have really sullied my interest in the league.

I kind of fall in the same line. When he came out of high school hyped to the moon and back, I wanted Lebron to fail miserably. But he won me over because he was actually really good. The Decision, however, turned him into the biggest prima donna in the history of the league, with Wade and Bosh running right behind him. I really liked all three of those guys prior to The Decision, but with all the egotism and non-basketball they play, I just can't stand them. I don't hate the Heat. I just hate what their stars have come to represent.

I'm a Heat fan, so obviously the decision doesn't bother me. But even if Lebron would have choosen another city, the "decision" wouldn't have bothered me. The thing that I most liked about it, was the fact that this guy actually had enough power and balls to dictate how his career would play out. In example, Chauncey Billups, wanted to finish his career in his hometown of Denver, so he got traded, or signed by Denver, the fans and organization was happy to have him, and then they trade him... Billups is a professional, so he handled it, but I didn't like to see him treated like that. That's why I like the fact that Lebron took his career in his own hands and made his own decision. But since joining the Heat, this guy has been working his ass off... don't blame him for the media coverage. Lebron has been working his ass off during the off season and now during the regular season. Now Wade on the other hand, he's become a bit of a prima donna yelling at the coach...... that was inexcusable.

There are plenty of free agents who decide where they want to play and who don't hold televised ego-strokings to announce their decisions. There are plenty of teams who sign big free agents and don't hold ego-swelling victory parties prior to games being played.

I'm not saying Lebron hasn't worked his butt off. Fact is, he's probably the most physically gifted athlete the NBA (and possibly any other sports league) has ever seen. What I don't like is the way he, Wade, and Bosh (but mostly Lebron) have carried themselves publicly from about a month prior to "The Decision" on forward.

Moreover, I don't like the way they play basketball in the actual games. Sure, there are some spectacular plays worthy of highlight reels, but there are far, far too many possessions that involve nothing more than Lebron or Wade plowing into the lane or dribbling out the clock before taking a jumper. There's no ball movement. It's one of the big 3 iso-ing over and over again, which is boring and painful to watch.

In regards to the decision, again, I'm a Miami fan.. have been all my life because I live in Miami.. So its hard for me to see what's wrong with that. I like to see athletes make their own decision. The league, owners, teams, have too much say so over who plays where. That never really sat well with me. Players show loyalty to teams, and then when they're at the end of their career, they ship them off to where ever.

The Heat have to play to their strengths.. the Heat doesn't have a great point guard (good defender, decent 3 point shooter). All these teams try to play big against miami, and you have to take the ball to the paint and try to draw files.. When we had gary payton, jason kapono.. you didn't need that. But the team has two slashers in wade and lebron... you have to get teams into the penalty and get players into file trouble, that's just the strategy of the game. In the 4th quarter you want to get teams into the penalty so that you can get to the line as much as possible.

A lot of times Wade, or Lebron do hold on to the ball for too long... but Miami has had a poor half court offensive for at least half the season, they started working on it after the break, because they knew that they wouldn't get all those easy transition buckets in the playoffs. Just like tonight, when the spurs were down in the 4th quarter, their coach, "I want some Nasty..." meaning he wanted them to take it to the paint, and pitch out and that's just what Parker did, he got into the paint or pitched out. No one plays man to man against Miami, it's ALWAYS zone, 5 guys standing around the paint. Wade and Bosh had some good pick and roll plays when they were on the floor together. The heat have never really shot very well.. I always felt like they should fire their shooting coach.

After viewing the first image, I rolled my eyes and passed Renique off as a hater.

After viewing the second image, I laughed my ass off. :D

Anyone who has ever played basketball has flopped. We all do. You sell calls. Hell, anyone who's ever played a sport has sold a call. That second image, though, is just classic. That goes way beyond flopping and selling a call.
Did Duncan looks even more weight during the Spurs' week off? Dude is ridiculously lean, and it's paying off.
This may be the last chance at another ring and he knows it, barring him going all Robert Parish on everybody. Dude works his ass off and is so damn understated in the way he goes about his business that it's hard not to respect the guy.

On another note, I love that second LeBron GIF. Looks like he's going to do a pratfall or the Ric Flair flop.

The Heat won and I'm happy about that.. but those silly techs that they gave to Boston were pure garbage. These players need to play their games and don't worry about the refs. Boston didn't do anythign wrong last night and they still had Technicals called against them; the main thing is that you have to play your game, and not let the refs distract you. The Heat are getting some calls right now, but as soon as the series goes back to Boston, the calls will go against them.

If the Nets somehow land a top 3 pick I just know they're shipping that off to Orlando for Dwight and Orlando would be stupid not to take it.

After Davis, there aren't any locks. Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bradley Beal, and Thomas Robinson seem to round out the top 4 for a couple mock drafts I've seen.

Double techs would have been better than allowing an incident of obvious taunting go unpunished. It'd also show that the referees were impartial. I never said KG didn't deserve a tech, did I? [He wouldn't have been kicked out either, because his tech earlier was a team technical, not a personal technical.] Instead, it goes freely when Doc Riveres gets teched for saying "Come on Eddie" and Ray Allen gets teched for something I've seen James do hundreds of times.

I'm just calling for consistency, not for biased calls, and I just happen to be using last nights game as a basis.
