As for the plush, I don't see how it being real or fake will change anything. Pokemon plushes aren't really a gold mine. Post a pic and I could probably tell you if it matches an official release, though.

I wasnt going to sell the plush. I know its not rare. It was more of a collecting thing. The only plush i have is yoda from BBV and the pokemon from the yard sale. I keep trying to hit yard sales, but mostly not game related. I saw a lot at the flea market, but was priced at $10 a game :cry:

Makes me feel sad seeing how everyone here makes it looks so easy.

I honestly have no idea - a PS-wiki says it was only released in Japan. I think it was Sony's answer to the Dreamcast VMU.

On Ebay there are only ones in used condition, but they are Buy It Now and are being asked about $30. For a like New condition one like yours you could probably sell it for much more. It's hard to say though because there are no records of Completed Listings in a condition like yours (although most are selling for $20 - $30 used). I'd say you did pretty well though. :D

The story for the BO kid is that he was selling BO for $2o, but it sometimes worked and sometimes did not. He said the disc was "cracked" a little, I could not see the crack but whatever. I told him,after his mom said that Microcenter did some CD fixing thing(Not sure what she said) That he should go there. It made me feel better. (Plus I only had $3):D

I'm not 100% sure, but wasn't Monster Rancher 2 supposed to be compatible with the Pocketstation? It could be one of those things that might sell better if paired up with the right games :!:

You should not have a problem if you put the pikachu plush in the washing machine, just make sure it doesn't have any electronics inside. Obviously don't put a plush with electronics into the washer, that would be bad.

As I recently learned you have to really watch with Xbox 360 games, a lot of games have multiple editions, and some editions are worthless. Some games are pretty cheap at Gamestop too so you want to check there as well. Most Xbox 360 games you see at sales will probably not be worth $10 each. The original oblivion would be worthless for example since the GOTY and 5th anniversary editions are out and both contain extra content on the discs that the original edition does not contain. If you purchased the original oblivion it would probably be cheaper to purchase the GOTY edition again just to get the extra content that is on the discs. Mass effect has a platinum hits version out that has an extra disc with more content on it too, so you wouldn't want to be buying the original version of that. Dragon Age origins ultimate edition and Mass Effect 2 have DLC codes in them that you would miss out on if you bought the games used. You don't want to buy the original dragon age origins since the ultimate edition is out that also contains a DLC code for mass effect 2 not to mention the ultimate edition contains a ton of DLC on the disc that would cost you in the live marketplace.

Obviously if you want to play the game then you want to get the edition with the most content on the disc (the most complete edition) so you don't have to download stuff from the live marketplace since DLC is insanely expensive on there. This assumes you want to play the most complete edition of your chosen game for the least cost to you.

Hopefully I haven't confused anyone here, its really tough to remember all of this even for me. Thankfully I have a decent mind for remembering things.

Pulled up to a sale pretty early and could see an NES from my car so I was excited. Walked up to find it's console only (no wires either) with Yoshi inside. Lady said someone came earlier and took all the stuff that went with it :cry:. Seems whoever got there first forgot one of the most important rules of yard sales: always look inside the console. Got Yoshi for $1.

Monster Rancher was at the same sale as the DVDs and was $1. DVDs were $2 each. That Kevin James one is hard to come by so that and Monster Rancher made my money back for the day.

$5 for everything. This was at the last sale of the day and somehow my most regretted purchase of the day. Everything looks like someone wiped their ass with it. I have no use for anything but one copy of Tetris and the little plastic cases. I love how comical the Game Boy looks with the accessories attached though.

The gameboy games i got today for $2 is able to save. Now i have to debate which one to keep. I never play pokemon before, so which one should i keep since they are all the same game?

Thanks Sara for the info. It was fun running to 4 yard sales and 1 flea market since it was my first game finding. just wish i had better knowledge and epic findings like what others here been getting.

I did see a GI Joe board game, but it was beaten up. Anyone know which board games are rare? I also saw limited edition star wars monopoly, but it was missing the bass coins and figures. I had only the board and money

My understanding is that it is the last year that Sierra had the license to produce a NASCAR game. There is a huge community updating stats and customizing paint jobs and sticker layouts on cars to keep them current.

Basically, there are newer games in that genre, but there are not better games.

For the record, I haven't ever played it, but I have sold 2 separate copies.

It's usually a better gamble to pick up board games if they're sealed, very little chance of pieces being missing that way. If they're open you have to really know what you're doing (i.e. Axis and Allies = good, many Scene It games = not so good). You might be able to get a feel for it checking your local Good Will; many of the sealed overstock games will often wind up there. Conversely many of the board games which you'll see for $50-60 at the local comics shop just might retain their value better.
 
I went to 20 sales today and struck out hard. A couple sales had some PS2/Xbox games but they were all sports/shovelware. Only thing I got today was a US Army Survival Manual for $1.

Possibly - I've also heard there's a Chocobo game that one of the PS1's FF titles could use with the pocketstation. Now I'll just find a black-label FFVII to go along with it . ..
 
I picked up the board game Hero Quest a few weeks ago for $1. It was pretty beat up; the board and box were a bit warped. Even one's with missing pieces sell pretty well, so nab that one if you ever see it.

FF VIII is the one that supported it.

Everything in this group $.50 each except for Rose DS Lite with disney mermaid game, asked $25 paid $20 but doh! forgot to ask for the charger and could not find the house in the community sale when I realized it! lol thank goodness, have an extra...all the DS games already traded in for about $31. Found this bundle today at a rare Sunday sale, asked $40, paid $30 - games are worth $69 trade which will happen later today.


Finding DS bundles the last couple weeks, as last week GSaling bought a DSL Pokemon black edition for $30 (was asking $40 and going on and on about $172 on Amazon for this edition new....)

$69 for trade?- You can do better than $8.63 apiece for those games. You could probably get $20 each for the Zeldas, Mario Kart, and Chrono Trigger.

I saw a few crappy PS2 games at a sale and was going to leave after picking out a few DVDs but asked about more games and the woman says we have that wheel:

I ask about it and then she goes inside and finds it:

So I offer $3 (she already informed me that it doesn't work with Windows 7). But she holds the line at $4. I had already done alright on a few DVDs with her, so I agree.

The wheel is a Logitech Formula GP . . . Amazon shows them listed at $50 but it seems too old for have much value. Anyone know much about old PC wheels?

net? lol no ... and Mario will be $22.50 of the $6x.xx so after shipping and Ppal...the member wanting Mario would be better off buying off Amazon.

Cardcaptor Sakura stuff is usually worth quite a bit as the fanbase is pretty ravenous. $3 for those is excellent as the pink one looks to be worh $60 and the green one $30 - $50. Awesome find.

Late post from labor day. Got lots of good stuff, best day ever. All of the SNES stuff was $10 (CIF), I got: One system in pretty good shape(some cleaning needed), 2 first party controllers, both required cords(one is the older r/f, but whatever), SNES mouse (didn't work with mario paint when i tried testing :cry:). The games are listed below.

The Genesis I got at the first sale which I showed up to about 30 minutes early as it advertised "electronic games/systems" or something like that. Ended being games from the DS and every other current system (minus 3DS) but with different prices & high. Asked about older games and the Genesis stuff was brought out tested out the Nomad and it wasen't working after some BSing I wasen't feeling very optimistic with the high priced newer stuff and from talking to the guy but he took my offer of 10. GBC with 3 games for 20 When I told the guy I was mostly interested in the games and was thinking more like 5 for the bundle he showed his hand at 10 being the best for everything but offered to sell the games for 5. The Playstation stuff was marked 8 total and took 5. Lemmings Revolution, Paintball was asking price, Yattzee wouldn't turn on and took .50 from a buck and I was asked to make an offer on the gameless Pokemon Stadium when I showed intereast.

Lucked out with my first sale Saturday that I got to just a hair before 8, not sure if they had a price in mind for the GBC & SNES controllers but I do know that the PSOne was 5 and the SNES games were .50 each. I paid 10 total including a shelf marked 5 so I'm figuring about 7ish for the game stuff if you break down the discount evenly. Playstation games totaled up to 3.25 and took 2. GBA games were actually .10 each, it was a younger kid so I gave him a buck and told him I didn't need the change. DS case was asking price. The NES & N64 stuff was a tough one, asked about video games and the guy brought this out and a Game Gear with 2 games I ended up passing on for 15. The guy ended up wanting 50 for the NES stuff and 20 for the N64 stuff. I tried 40 for the NES stuff and he didn't want to budge (he was on the fence about even selling it and getting nostalgic about it as we were talking) not sure exactly how I feel about it but figured fuck it yardsale season is almost over and tried 60 for the N64 and NES stuff and got him to agree on that.

Got to 18 sales Friday & 19 Saturday, I actually only had a list of 10 sales for Saturday but didn't realize that the one neighborhood was having it's town wide sale Saturday which did help with the total sales I got to. This is the same one that had a map with about 30 sales last year. They did a poor job of advertising as I saw an ad for a flea market type setup at the park but figured that was it, wasen't very clear that it was the whole town wide deal along with that. They had maps this year but only 9 sales on the map 3 I knew were repeats and a 4th that I ended up remembering from last year so 5 on the map were new to me. I was rather lucky this weekend and I think I ended up finding video games at the highest ratio of sales this year, friday found something at the first 4 sales I went to and Pokemon at the very last (not including the Yattzee thing as a game) and lucked out Saturday getting to a pile of SNES games right away since I changed up my route a little because of a no early birds sale with a later start time.

The only thing I was told about missing was one of the houses on said map mentioned DS games, it was the same house I got the PS1 games at for 2. I did BS with them for a minute or two and was told that the DS games were all gone when I asked about video games and that they were 2 each, don't remember but it was probably all or mostly one person that cleaned them out.

The 60 dollar bundle was a tough one unfornately the Game Gear with X-Men & a Goerge Forman boxing game was 15 as I would have picked it up for 5 since the system worked great when tested. After testing it out I told the guy I was mostly interested in the NES stuff and his reply was he wasen't even sure if he wanted to sell it and it was from when he was a kid etc etc with the whole nostalgic feeling but he finnally did spit out how much it would take him to part with it. I could sense that this was going to be one of these awkward deals as things were progressing hence the reason I didn't shoot out an offer in the 5-20 range to kick start the negotiations. Not exactly sure how I feel about it but I did want the case for the games since I didn't have one and while it wasen't on my radar I was happy to get Command & Conquer for the N64.

Most of the other standard little non find stuff this weekend that everyone hears/deals with when they ask about video games at yardsales. One in particular that was a little more colorful. I asked about games and they didn't have anything but out of curiosity the guy checked with me as in exactly what I was interested in and said they had IIRC all of the older Nintendo systems "packed up" and started talking about Bubble Bobble. They were selling a fair amount of furniture so I'm guessing it was a moving sale and the systems were making the move hence the reason they were packed up.

The house I got the Lemmings games at a lady who lived elsewhere hinted at some older game systems and games on Friday (it's usually somebody that doesn't live at said sale that is telling you about some old video games they have in a tone that sounds as if they would run right in to get it if they were at home). On return Saturday as always they weren't found/rounded up for one reason or another. I'm not 100% sure but I think this was the same house that had Genesis, Saturn & Dreamcast systems all boxed up but expensive with games that were high priced so many years back and didn't want to budge much if at all on prices but didn't have them out this year. The lady that lived at this house actually mentioned what sounded like an NES with about 50 games but didn't seem serious about bringing it out and made a comment about after getting rid of some of the stuff out for sale and maybe next sale so I didn't bother asking about it at all or trying any friendly prodding.

Most of this stuff I've mentioned so far is fairly typical or not far from but I figured I'd do a non find BS this week mostly with the first sale I went to Friday in mind. I see the newer stuff and notice a Batman Arkham Asylum GOTYE (360) marked 25 and know it going to be one of these sales. I ask about older games and he mentions (IIRC) a mint in box Genesis so I'm expecting a boxed system and high price. He also mentioned an Atari which he didn't know where it was. He said he'd look around that night and I could come back. When I came back he couldn't find it and even said he thinks his dad threw it out. I was thinking about getting Silent Hill Shattered Memories for 5 (PSP) on Saturday which I was thinking about Friday and a DS game marked 10 (was gonna try for 5) that I can't remember the name of but it's a side scroller like Metal Slug if I'm correct. I only see 360 games on Saturday and I asked as they were still bringing stuff out and he told me that some old lady bought all of the DS & PSP games. When I was talking to him on Friday he mentioned at some point that last yardsale he sold a DSi system right at the start of the sale for 150 smackers so yeah I suspect that he's full of it. I only remember so many but I'll list some of the other games besides Batman that I remember with prices.

The only rare board game I know of is Fireball Island from 1987 and Dark tower from the early 80's. I have never personally run into Dark tower in over 10 years of sales but I have run into Fireball island. Keep in mind if you are buying a board game that it can often be sold for parts and you can make money that way. If you find a game like Fireball island and its a dollar or 50 cents just buy it and don't worry about what is in the box because you can usually make your money back on selling just the parts.

Keep in mind that board games are hard to ship and cost quite a bit to ship, plus you also have to find a box to ship them in. So if you are getting them to resell you have to make sure you have something good, not something you can just get $5-10 for. A lot of buyers aren't willing to pay high shipping costs for a mediocre board game.

The Puzz 3d's are also good from what other people said in this thread, you can usually get these for 25 cents to 50 cents at sales.

They do have flat rate board game boxes free at the post office now. It's a new size they introduced a few months back.

Nerdy, complex, board games from Fantasy Flight or Avalon Hill are also always really good pickups for sub-$3. Most Fantasy Flight stuff retails for $50+ new, used games usually fetch $25 or more. I've found several Avalon Hill games that were unpunched (new) for $2.50 or less and sold them for $40 or more a piece.

I got out early on Sat. because an ad promised PS3, 360 and PS2 games. I get there and they had about 8 games total and all just crap. Luckily I found the Nascar 2003 later on.

I mentioned a minor pickup on Friday and promised pics. So, as I drive up to this sale, I see the green glow on a table of Xbox cases and get a little excited. Which of course is quickly muted because its all crap and some look like they've been sitting in the rain from days before. I sift through anyway and pick up Stubbs . . . not bad. There were a few without artwork and I opened two to find old sports titles.
I was done but I opened the last one . . . almost skipped it, to find . . . (guess before you click)

Nice because I have one with artwork and could make a nice color photocopy of the art and keep that one for myself and flip the other.

I was thinking I'd get them for $1 each (based on how little the guy cared for the games). But as I come up to talk he wants $4 each . . . I offered $4 for both but ended up paying $5.

Nice finds guys! Video games have been sparse in my area for the past month. I did get a complete Rock Band setup for Wii along with 3 Track Packs for $25. Other than that I just got a few records.

Man, I always love seeing big lots of 16-bit games.

Unfortunately they have it priced at $14.95 (the medium box is $10.95)

These boxes could be a good option in some cases but you also can get lucky. A few times when I've had board games, they sell nearby (like Chicago for me) and the rate isn't bad.

The key things to look for in games are: cheap (at $1 or less you have little to risk), sealed (even average things might have good value if sealed), and quirky (oddball or rare items often have good value).

I wish we had decent yard sales around here. It's mostly just old baby clothes and broken junk that nobody wants. I scoured Craigslist for sales this weekend, but most of them only ran from 8 AM to 10 AM. A few were supposed to run until noon, but nobody was there when I showed up. Huge fucking waste of gas and all I got out of it was a book with art by retarded people. I did come across a nice estate sale, though, and bought a few board games for a dollar each. Most notably is a 1967 copy of Facts In Five, which is one of the best games I've played recently. Very simple concept (and you could easily just play without purchasing the game) but my wife and I can't get enough of it.

Interestingly enough, we found the 1976 edition at the nearby thrift store for 90 cents, so we picked that up (just for the hell of it) along with Crack The Case, Channel Surfing, Where In The USA Is Carmen San Diego?, A Question of Scruples, and A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Perilous Parlor Game. We now have over 100 board games and my son suddenly has less closet space.

This sale pissed me off. The lady had just brought out a box of video games. She didn't know what to charge for them, so she went to get her son. He game out and said "Most games would be 50 cents each", but then he pulled out a few and said "These are $2 each". I said OK and he went back inside.

I saw a loose copy of "The Punisher" sitting there, so I put it in my buy pile. I asked the Mom, "how much would he want for everything?" since they had a wavebird, a gamecube case, and some other mixed games. The son then comes back out and says he wants to sell all the games with the Genesis (which was in the house apparently), then he said he doesn't want to sell any of them and they were not supposed to be out there. The mom was a little irritated since I had been there looking at them and asked if there are any he would part with. He left the stuff I bought and a basketball game that I left. I tried to get the punisher by saying I am into comics, but he didn't want to sell it (though it was one of the 50 cent games the first time he came out).

Lesson: Buy the cheap game you want, then ask for a group price on the rest.

EDIT: Also the kid did a pm for me at Sears on a few video games. He probably remembered me from it and realized I collect games.

$1 each all sealed! This was kind of random. She had a few VHS tapes and no other games. Most of her stuff was baby clothes. I asked and she said she did not have any other video game stuff and that she doesn't even know where they came from.

I'm still going out every weekend, though it's been a couple weeks since I last posted. The season is indeed dying down, but I find just enough every weekend to keep me going out the next weekend. This is sort of a greatest hits post of the last few weeks.

Price: $7 total for all on 9/3/11, and was basically all I found all day. Initially asked $20 for the lot, I countered with $5, settled on $7. The Nomad has a scratched screen and has no hookups, but I mainly bought the lot for the Gameboy games, though I know Ristar for Genesis isn't a bad find. Was also kind of annoyed by missing on a GBA SP and bag of about 8 games for $5 by about 30 seconds at an earlier sale, and at another sale had a lot of a few n64/GB games (Pokemon Red/Yellow and Mario 64/Mario Party among them) taken off the selling table by the seller's kids, saying they didn't want them sold. Boo hoo.

Total paid: $6 on 9/10/11. Was about 8am at a community yard sale, asked the seller if she had any old video games. She goes inside and comes out with an xbox and playstation with some shovelware initially. Goes in again and comes out with a box containing all of this. Both SNES games are complete; the manual on DK3 is kind of wrinkled but not terrible. The SNES and controllers are immaculate. Offer $5 for the box, seller counters with $10, I say I'll go $6 but this stuff is old. Works like a charm. Keeping everything in here. Bada boom!

Total paid: $15 on 9/10/11. Asked a family around 11am at a community yard sale if they had any old video games. Dad goes in and comes out with a garbage bag containing all of this a few minutes later. Always like finding various colors of n64, this is my first smoke gray n64 find (which was in great shape, both system and controller). Also my first sealed n64 game. Note Conker's Bad Fur Day (wish it didnt have that awful BB sticker junk on it, which is about impossible to remove without damaging the label art). The dad seemed like he couldn't be fooled too hard, so I didn't try to play games and make a sub $10 offer and risk losing all respect. Offered $15 which was accepted with minor hesitation. Also got Super Mario Galaxy for Wii for an additional $3, of which I forgot to take a pic. Was a nice day-ending find.

Had a so-so 9/17/11, will get some pics up eventually. Found a box of 10 n64 games and a couple of guides, overall nothing major. The gf had much better luck with CDs/DVDs and clothes. I was happy for her, since she usually tags along so faithfully and doesn't complain. :applause:

I was crunched for time yesterday and forgot to post my non-find BS story from labor day weekend, Here it is.
This was my fourth or fifth sale of the day and where I got the SNES bundle. I'm still surprised I found this deal since I was there around 9 and the sale started around 8 (i think). Well, anyway it was a younger couple probably in their thirties with a TON of stuff a lot of it clothes/decorations but in the front corner of the driveway there is a stack of PS2 games, NES, and SNES, each with 10-11 games and all the hookups. The SNES and NES games are marked $1 each. When I got there the sale is already crawling with people and the cul-de-sac the sale is on is filling up with cars. In the midst of it all this older guy probably in is 60's walks out of his beat to hell bronco that he parked IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CUL DE SAC. A few minutes after I checkout the games and am preparing to make some sort of offer, when the old guy offers the husband $20 for "all of the video games". See here, I thought I had just missed out on the biggest deal of the summer:whistle2:#. But I stuck around, and the guy ended up picking up the 15ish stack of Ps2 games, a lot of them sports titles. I heard him mutter something to the husband like " I thought I saw some DVD movies in that pile..etc." It turns out he only wanted the ps2 games in the first place :). Then of course I CIF'd the husband $10 for the SNES lot which was accepted. I passed on would almost certainly have been the same deal for the NES lot for a few reasons, one being that the games weren't as good, and I have limited space, etc. Anyway, as I was leaving the sale I saw the old guy put like 5 360 games that were on a different table in his bag of ps2 games. Didn't even see him talk about those. hmmmmmmmmm. anyway I barely squeezed my car outta there and went on.

F-Zero and Space Invaders (as well as some casino game whose title escapes me) were all printed in ridiculously huge quantities and are pretty easy to find sealed. All the PnT stores around me still have 2 - 3 of each out for $10 a piece.

Addicted? Slightly. Newly? Not quite. I've had a big hard-on for board games for quite some time now; I just usually don't have enough money to get any of the ones I want. And the thrift stores around here rarely have anything decent that isn't missing half of the pieces. I just happened to luck out over the weekend.

Unfortunately, the problem with board games is that they take up so much space, which sometimes makes me reluctant to buy them, even when given the opportunity. But when I see a bunch for a dollar or less each (including the unopened Channel Surfing), it's hard to pass them up. I did reluctantly leave about 10 games behind, though. Oh, and for what it's worth, my tally of "over 100" doesn't include our boxes full of card and/or dice games like Uno, Kuduk, Yahtzee, Farkel, etc.

Whenever my son's not napping, I'll have to take a couple of pictures of the game closet and perhaps start a board game thread if there isn't already one available. Although I don't necessarily have the most impressive collection, I still like to show it off.
