----------------------------------------------------------------------

FAQ

Since when did Amazon start doing trades?
The program began earlier this year and is handled by a third party merchant, NorAm International.

What kind of shipping does Amazon provide us?
USPS Media Mail

Do I have to provide my own box or envelope?
Yes.

Do all my games in the same trade-in submission have to be shipped in the same box?
Yes.

Can I send in sealed games?
Yes. They won't reject games that still have the original shrink wrap.

Can I add Delivery Confirmation and Insurance to my shipment?
Yes. If you’re worried about your package, definitely take advantage of these shipping options. You’ll just have to pay a little extra to ship your games. NOTE: There have been cases where the post office doesn’t allow adding these options on prepaid shipping labels, but try anyway or go to a different post office.

I don't trust Media Mail. Can I pay for postage myself? What's the address?
Yes. You're more than welcome to do so. The address is:
NorAm International
43 Broad st. C403
Hudson, MA 01749

When do I have to send my games once I have submitted my trade order?
You have 1 week to send your games.

Crap, I have one day to go before my shipment deadline, but the website states that my deadline has already passed. How do I print out a shipping label and packing slip?
Load up any existing order (if you don't have any, check your browser's history), and substitute the transaction ID for the trade-in order you need at the end of the URL.

How long does the whole trade-in process usually take?
From the time you send in your games, it may take up to 14 business days for the package to arrive. Most people usually receive their credit in 3 to 5 business days, however.

My games were received on Friday (based on Delivery Confirmation), will I have to wait until Monday to receive credit?
People have received credit on a Saturday.

Can I do two different trade-in submissions that add up to the requirements of the trade-in deal?
No. In order to qualify for any of the trade-in promos, they have to all be in one trade-in submission. You can't add another game later on to make the minimum.

I submitted my trade-in order online, how do I know if I qualified for the current trade-in deal? Is there a confirmation page or e-mail?
No. They will automatically send you a coupon code once they have accepted your shipment of games and credited your account.

Is the trade-in deal coupon in addition to the credit I will receive for my games?
Yes.

Can I trade in DVDs to take advantage of the current trade-in deal?
You may trade in DVDs to add credit to your Amazon account, but they will not be added to the amount you need to qualify for the deal.

When do I receive my coupon code for the current trade-in deal?
The Terms of Service states 10 days after Amazon has accepted your games and added credit to your account, but it usually takes 2 to 3 days.

Can I take advantage of the current trade-in promo more than once?
These deals are “One per household” unless stated otherwise. However, you may use a different Amazon account. The credit for your games will be tied to the specific account used for the trade, but the coupon codes for the deals are not.

If the coupon codes aren’t tied to my account, can I use more than one coupon on my next purchase?
No. Unless stated otherwise in the promo details, these coupons cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. IT DOES STACK WITH THE ECA DISCOUNT, HOWEVER.

I do not have the manual, cover art, or original case for a game I want to trade in. Will they accept it?
While the details specifically state that original packaging is necessary, people have reported in the past that their trades were accepted despite missing some of these. This is extremely YMMV, however. On the other hand, older gen games, such as SNES, N64, and GB cartridges, normally get accepted without the original box and manual, but still YMMV.

My game is really beat up, what are the chances they’ll accept it?
This is YMMV. Some people have reported in the past that they sent in games in bad shape that were still accepted. Your best bet is still to trade in games in mint condition. Minor scratches are expected as these are used games.

My game is the Greatest Hits version, but the one pictured on the site isn’t. Can I still trade it in?
Unless the game in question has two separate versions that trade at different values, sending in a greatest hits version is okay.

I have a game from a limited edition bundle, will they accept it?
If the game’s cover art has a UPC barcode, they will most likely accept it. If your game's cover states "Not for Resale" and does not have a UPC barcode, the game will most likely get rejected. Some people have had their games accepted in the past, but this is YMMV.

The UPC barcode is not intact on my game's cover art, will that be accepted?
This is YMMV. Just try it, but make sure to have more than enough for the minimum requirement to qualify for the deal.

So if they reject one of my games, am I disqualified from the current trade-in deal?
Unfortunately yes. The best suggestion for trading in games is to trade in $10-$20 more than the minimum for the deal. By doing so, you will still qualify for the promo even if one or two games get rejected.

I sent in my games, all of which were in pristine condition with the original packaging, but they said that one game is damaged and is now being returned.
Always pack your games well. Put a lot of newspaper around your games in the box to secure them and to prevent any damages from haphazard box cutting. People in the past have requested their entire trade-in order if it’s obvious the damage wasn’t their fault, and Amazon ended up accepting the rejected game. This is YMMV as well.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
Yes. Once you click “Trade in” for a particular game, you may change the quantities.

So if I find a good flip, I can just send 10 copies of that game and not worry about Amazon accusing me of stolen merchandise?
Technically yes, but do keep in mind that it might still raise red flags. No one has reported attempting this so we do not know for sure. 2 to 3 copies of a game should be okay, but more than that is pushing it. Also, keep in mind that other CAGs might want to participate in the current deal, and trading in a large number of the same game will definitely lower the TIV of said game. Let’s be nice to other people.

Wow, these TIVs suck!
While that may be true, you will most likely save more money because of the trade-in deal coupon code.

What the fuck? The TIV of a game I just bought for this deal tanked! What do I do?
The TIVs on Amazon fluctuate depending on the number of trades that are submitted, and we really can’t do anything about it. The best course of action for trading in games is to lock in your trade if you already have the games or are absolutely sure that you can obtain them. You can always edit or cancel the trade submission if you end up not finding the games.

So if I can edit a submitted trade, can I add other games that weren’t originally part of the submission?
No. Only quantities can be changed.

If I change the quantity of a certain game I have already submitted for a trade, will I keep the same TIV?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon on preorders?
Yes.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon when shopping from other merchants on Amazon?
No. ONLY ITEMS SOLD BY AMAZON.COM QUALIFY FOR PURCHASE WITH THE TRADE-IN COUPON. Even Amazon's other sites (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.jp, etc.) do not participate in these trade-in deals.

Does the ECA discount stack with the trade-in deal coupon?
Yes.

Can I use my credit (not the trade-in deal coupon) on items that are not video game-related?
Yes. This is the other perk for trading in games at Amazon since you're not limited to just video games.

Can I use my credit on items sold by third-party merchants on Amazon?
According to the fine print of the Amazon gift card use, some merchants are excluded. Your best bet is to try it on the checkout page of your order.

I have a quick question. ty to anyone who can help answer it.

I placed a trade in order yesterday for like $103.50 in trade-ins to get the 50% off accessory promo code.

My question is can I modify/edit that tradein to still keep the total over $50.00 and then re-trade the other stuff in on a seperate order dated today for $60.00 to get the bonus $30.00 also??

I am almost ready to hit "resubmit trade-ins" but I am worried this might change the date of my trade in submission which presently shows 07/18/09 the last day of the 50% code promo.

Any help here ? Especially anyone who has done it before ?

Thanks !

Quick question my games were received and accepted on July 18, I qualified for the coupon, its been 48 hours and still no 50% off coupon from Amazon, should I be worried? I been reading that most people got their within 24-48 hours
Its worth purchasing the cover/manual since its... $3.99 from the website that was posted earlier.

$12.99 + $3.99 = $16.98 ($23.50 TIV)

Gain: $6.52

If you include the $30 for trading in $60, 3 copies = $16.52 gain each. Assuming you buy 3 case/manuals.

This flip is -amazing- and I suggest putting multiple orders to lock it.
Actually, if you had 3 copies of KOTOR 2 with manuals and original cover art ... I would sell on Amazon, as you'll get more $$ from selling than trading ... but that's just my opinion and really depends on the condition of the games and completeness ... just to compare, a disc only version sells for around $28 ... giving you around the same as the trade without having to scramble to print a cover ... or god forbid, a manual (I was toying with the concept, but it's just too risky and if KOTOR 2 is rejected, it jacks up your entire deal)

So yes, it's a great flip if you're lucky enough to find a complete copy, but it's a better sale if you only have the disc, in my opinion

Well no answer to my question so I called Amazon and the rep told me that I would still get the 50% off promo code BUT that my order/trade in date would change since I was revising the quantities of some items up or down today the 19th.

SOOO...

I did the revision anyways deleting 4 games and increasing the quantity of 1 game title to $52.50 for the original order allowing me to place a $61.00 order with the deleted 4 game trades today.

Here's the best part. My original trade-in order date STILL shows yesterday 07/18/09 even after I EDITED the trade in quantities and deleted two game titles ! Sweeet.

So I should now get the bonus $30 on today's order AND the 50% off promo code for yesterdays order (that I revised today) ;)

This Amazon trading ain't so bad except for the part about having to have both the manual, original case, and original artwork.
No, I don't think so - they started the new one up right on cue with the end of the last one. So I'd say this is it until September. I don't see any point in not getting at least one $30 off code. You can always find other stuff later if they bring back a better coupon. I mean, if it is really worth it (like the 50% off one) then you can always find something worth trading even if you take a small loss.
.
That's what I meant, it's a long wait to hold off on trades until September, to hope for another 50% as he is. I'd also go for the $30 if I had stuff to get rid of.

Wait it out, they probably don't work Sunday and its not even Monday yet.

Heres a question I bet hasn't been asked.

Can I submit two trades in one box? I locked in a trade for the 50% off accessory and I locked one in of this current promo. Can I just send them both in one box with both of the trade in receipts so they know what i'm trading in for.

infamous is the trade of the day.. very tempting 34.25 since some websites are selling it for 39.99 I might have to pull the trigger here.

Infamous - 34.25
2x KOTOR 1- 26 = 60.25

2x KOTOR 2 = 47
1x KOTOR 1= 13 = 60 Dollars

thats about 180 dollars towards video games. for infamous and 50 dollars of GS credit. and I also have the 50 dollars from a previous and the 50% dang this thing just keeps piling up

got all my shipments sorted out. Now I gotta peel the gamestop stickers off of a few things and bubble/packing peanut the shit out of them. If any game is not accepted in any of my 3 shipments I'll lose the 50% off for that trade in. But there is no reason they should as all games are perfect, no scratches and the boxes/manuals are great too.

I have a question.

I traded in $61 worth of games and one blu ray movie. I threw in the blu ray so i would get over $60. However, I just read the FAQ on the front page, and it said I needed $60 of video game trade ins. So I won't get the extra $30 deal then? And should I just cancel the trade in, and place a new one with only video games?
(I also traded in Battlefront 2... so i would probably lose that trade in deal).
does anyone know if the ps3 logitech harmony adapter is considered an accessory that would work with this promo?
I can tell you with 99% accuracy that it won't work. I bought this about a month ago and the ECA discount wouldn't work on it. That discount works on all the same things that this promo does.

put my order in last night for my ion drums using the 50% off and eca. total cost for me was $52.97 with an extended 2 year warranty and overnight shipping
Just wanted to add something to the FAQ that I was curious about. I asked on Amazon's discussion section if trade-ins get credited on weekends. Someone responded saying that they have received credit before on a Saturday.

I was curious myself because they received a bundle of trades from me on Thursday, and did not credit me. I was worried that if Friday I didn't get credit, I would have to wait until Monday.

Hope this helps
I can confirm they do credit on Saturday. I mailed last Thursday, and received email/credit on Saturday.
How did you order the two year warranty?
when you are on the drums page, the service plans are under the related accessories. it also came up in the recommended accessories when i was checking out. it was $29.99 for 2 years or $49.99 for 3 years
almost $35 for infamous, thats pretty damn sweet.
Lol, those bastards! Ah well, I'll be getting well over an extra $10 in trade via my 50% coupon.

With 20% off PS3 Games and 10% from Edge, it's -almost- an equal flip.

$38.50 at GameStop -----> $34.50 at Amazon.
$77.00 at GameStop -----> $69.00 + $30.00 = $99.00

So, it's profitable if you trade in two copies of it. However, not -very- profitable. And honestly, I'm not willing to spend $77 in credit to hit the $60. It might be worth picking up -1- copy to finish off a $60 order that you just can't reach with the games you have left, but otherwise, other flips are better. Like yesterdays flip.

And you are absolutely correct. But here is another side. I want to get Madden 10 which is offering a 10 dollar gift card with the pre-order. Plus I can use ECA discount also which enhances buying from amazon.Would the $8 loss on the base trade in credit be worth it on a game with this kind of offer? CAGS weigh in.

Yes, it's worth it. Because your gaining $22 per 2 Games due to the Trade in $60 get $30 promotion.

If there was no such promotion? No. Unless you are just moving credit from GS to Amazon, then yes. If your spending -cash- at GS? Only worth it if you profit as is the case of -2- Infamous Purchases with 20% off PS3 Coupon + Edge and trading in for the promo on Amazon.

So, it is worth it as long as you purchase two copies and trade them in the same order to Amazon.

Okay so I ended up buying 40 Infamous games off Amazon for 40.50 each b4 they sold out (diff accounts with Prime). Spent total 1620 now if I do 20 trade ins I should get 30 dollars extra for each promotion right? I'll only end up profiting 350... dang that's a lot. It sort of seems like a hassle mb I should cancel it. Any suggestions?

You sir, are crazy.

p.s. - its not an extra $30.... its a coupon for $30 off a future gaming purchase. So, not exactly the best idea there chief.

I bought 40 inFamous games for 40.50 each which totaled to 1620. The TIV right now is 34.25 each. If I send in packs of 2 and get 68.50 per game + 30 credit that's 98.50.

So I would end up sending in 20 packs of 2. 98.50 - 81.00 = 17.50 per box I profit.

17.50 x 20 = 350.00 extra

I mean that's a lot of money but does it seem like a work. It would only take like 30-40 minutes to pack the boxes and put labels on and what not. Then a 10 minute drive to Post office. I'm just worried that I'm taking a risk with sending in 20 boxes (afraid it might get stolen or lost and I lose out)

Yeah I know the 30 extra is for gaming but I buy most my games off Amazon ever since I got ECA. I was just wondering if it'd be worth it or if it'd be too much work

Yeah, let us know how that works out after you only get credit for one trade-in.

If they did hopefully they locked in the value since Infamous is not showing up on the trade in page now.

Well, I just saw that my Trade In was not fully accepted. I have a "Damaged item- cracked" next to my KOTOR II. What the fuck? Seriously, Amazon seems to do this far more often than I'm comfortable with. I've shipped many many games in my time and I've never had anything cracked before. I'm seeing this excuse more and more often in this thread.

Now I'm paranoid about sending stuff in. If I get a cracked disc back in the mail, I'm going to be so pissed.

I like the subtle undertone of their new promo, which basically says, "That 50% coupon was MEANT for a $60 game, you loop-hole exploiting bastards!" :D

so if they reject your item do they keep the other items and just send you one back? and no deal coupon?
so if they reject your item do they keep the other items and just send you one back? and no deal coupon?
Yes. They kept my other, less valuable items, and are sending me back KOTOR II in the mail, supposedly cracked. What a crock.

I have another trade in ready to go right now. I'm putting packing peanuts in with the games and if they tell me that anything's cracked in there, I'm never trading with them again.

not 100% sure if/when/where this should be posted in the forums (sure someone will tell me politely :) but thought it was good to pass on for those who have it and trying to unload it.

infamous - $34.25

Woo my four games were received and accepted about a half hour ago. Shipped last Monday using the pre-paid shipping label from Mid-Missouri, so it took a week.
He better hopes Amazon doesn't ban him from there site if they catch on.
Why would they ban him? I'm sure they are overjoyed. Somebody spends $1620 cash to turn into $1370 (+$30) credit, I know I'm happy if I'm the business owner. Even if he does get the $30 credit for each trade-in, that's still only +$350 credit. Amazon gets $1620 cash either way.
Heres a question I bet hasn't been asked.

Can I submit two trades in one box? I locked in a trade for the 50% off accessory and I locked one in of this current promo. Can I just send them both in one box with both of the trade in receipts so they know what i'm trading in for.
Since they pay for the shipping, why do you risk it? Just send them in 2 different boxes.

Maybe they don't do it anymore but Amazon used to ban your account/ip for things like that along with too many returns, etc. Many, many have been banned in waves. I'm actually banned from selling because I canceled a few orders when over the years I have sold hundreds of items and probably brought in thousands in revenue for them. I even made a new account to sell and they banned that one too. They keep track of your ip and even contacts because I made another account at my sisters to try and sell and they banned that one too.

It was a while back and still hurts. That's why I try my best not to mess around with Amazon.
If possible, find another copy of a game you have on your list so you don't have to cancel, you can just change the quantity.
But if I can not find another copy of a game, what would be my best option?
Woo my four games were received and accepted about a half hour ago. Shipped last Monday using the pre-paid shipping label from Mid-Missouri, so it took a week.
My trade in's also took approximately 1 week. I sent it last Monday from Denver, CO. Anyways, I hope to get my 50% off coupon soon.
