FAQ (Updated 12/01/09)
Can I post question on this thread?
Only if you can't find the answer from below. And please let me know if it needs to be added to FAQ.

Since when did Amazon start doing trades?
The program began earlier this year and is handled by a third party merchant, NorAm International.

What kind of shipping does Amazon provide us?
Free UPS ground ---- USPS is no longer available

Do I have to provide my own box or envelope?
Yes.

Do all my games in the same trade-in submission have to be shipped in the same box?
Yes.

Can I send in sealed games?
Yes. They won't reject games that still have the original shrink wrap.

Can I add Delivery Confirmation and Insurance to my shipment?
For UPS Ground
It already provides you with tracking information.

I don't trust UPS ground. Can I pay for postage myself? What's the address?
Yes. You're more than welcome to do so. The address is:
NorAm International
22 Hampshire Dr
Hudson, NH 03051

When do I have to send my games once I have submitted my trade order?
You have 1 week to send your games.

Crap, I have one day to go before my shipment deadline, but the website states that my deadline has already passed. How do I print out a shipping label and packing slip?
Load up any existing order (if you don't have any, check your browser's history), and substitute the transaction ID for the trade-in order you need at the end of the URL.

How long does the whole trade-in process usually take?
From the time you send in your games, it may take up to 14 business days for the package to arrive. Most people usually receive their credit (Amazon GiftCard) in 3 to 5 business days, however.

When do I receive my coupon code for the current trade-in deal, if any?
The Terms of Service states 10 days after Amazon has accepted your games and added credit to your account, but it usually takes 2 to 3 days.

How long does the "processing" status usually take?
Usually with no delay, but the longest reported days so far is 4.

My games were received on Friday (based on Delivery Confirmation), will I have to wait until Monday to receive credit?
People have received credit on a Saturday.

Can I do two different trade-in submissions that add up to the requirements of the current trade-in deal, if any?
No. In order to qualify for any of the trade-in promos, they have to all be in one trade-in submission. You can't add another game later on to make the minimum. However, you can adjust the quantity of the submitted game to make the minimum.

I submitted my trade-in order online, how do I know if I qualified for the current trade-in deal, if any? Is there a confirmation page or e-mail?
No. They will automatically send you a coupon code once they have accepted your shipment of games and credited your account.

Is the trade-in deal coupon in addition to the credit I will receive for my games?
Yes.

Can I trade in DVDs to take advantage of the current trade-in deal?
You may trade in DVDs to add credit to your Amazon account, but they will not be added to the amount you need to qualify for the deal.

Can I take advantage of the current trade-in (if available) promo more than once?
These deals are “One per household” unless stated otherwise. However, you may use a different Amazon account. The credit for your games will be tied to the specific account used for the trade, but the coupon codes for the deals are not.
*However, some people has confirmed that they get multiple coupon by using 1 Amazon account after doing multiple submission.
NOTE: IF YOU SEND MORE THAN 1 SUBMISSION, THE MULTIPLE COUPONS MIGHT COME IN 1 EMAIL, THE CODE IS SEPERATING BY A COMMA.

If the coupon codes aren’t tied to my account, can I use more than one coupon on my next purchase?
No. Unless stated otherwise in the promo details, these coupons cannot be combined with other offers or promotions. IT DOES STACK WITH THE ECA DISCOUNT, HOWEVER.

I do not have the manual, cover art, or original case for a game I want to trade in. Will they accept it?
While the details specifically state that original packaging is necessary, people have reported in the past that their trades were accepted despite missing some of these. This is extremely YMMV, however since some were also rejected by missing manual or cover art. On the other hand, older gen games; such as SNES, N64, and GB cartridges, normally get accepted without the original box and manual, but still YMMV.
It's always better if you trade your non-complete game as an additional credit, not part of the minimum requirement to qualify for the promo.

My game is really beat up, what are the chances they’ll accept it?
This is YMMV. Some people have reported in the past that they sent in games in bad shape that were still accepted. Your best bet is still to trade in games in mint condition. Minor scratches are expected as these are used games.

My game is the Greatest Hits version, but the one pictured on the site isn’t. Can I still trade it in?
Unless the game in question has two separate versions that trade at different values, sending in a greatest hits version is okay.

I have a game from a limited edition bundle, will they accept it?
If the game’s cover art has a UPC barcode, they will most likely accept it. If your game's cover states "Not for Resale" and does not have a UPC barcode, the game will most likely get rejected. Some people have had their games accepted in the past, but this is YMMV.

The UPC barcode is not intact on my game's cover art, will that be accepted?
This is YMMV. Just try it, but make sure to have more than enough for the minimum requirement to qualify for the deal, if available.

So if they reject one of my games, am I disqualified from the current trade-in deal, if any?
Unfortunately yes. The best suggestion for trading in games is to trade in $10-$20 more than the minimum for the deal. By doing so, you will still qualify for the promo even if one or two games get rejected.

I sent in my games, all of which were in pristine condition with the original packaging, but they said that one game is damaged and is now being returned.
Always pack your games well. Put a lot of newspaper around your games in the box to secure them and to prevent any damages from haphazard box cutting. People in the past have requested their entire trade-in order if it’s obvious the damage wasn’t their fault, and Amazon ended up accepting the rejected game. This is YMMV as well.

Can I trade in multiple copies of the same game?
Yes. Once you click “Trade in” for a particular game, you may change the quantities.

How many multiple copies of the same game can I trade-in?
Maximum of 3 copies within 3 months period (This limit MAY also include prior "Cancelled Submissions - YMMV")

Will the Trade-in of the Day TIV stay for 24 hours?
It's been reported that there is a limit (maximum # of copies) that will get the promoted TIV so lock yours.

So if I find a good flip, I can just send 3 copies of that game and not worry about Amazon accusing me of stolen merchandise?
Technically yes, but do keep in mind that other CAGs might want to participate in the current deal, and trading in a large number of the same game will definitely lower the TIV of said game. Let’s be nice to other people.

Wow, these TIVs suck!
While that may be true, you will most likely save more money because of the trade-in deal coupon code.

What the fuck? The TIV of a game I just bought for this deal tanked! What do I do?
The TIVs on Amazon fluctuate depending on the number of trades that are submitted, and we really can’t do anything about it. The best course of action for trading in games is to lock in your trade if you already have the games or are absolutely sure that you can obtain them. You can always cancel the trade submission if you end up not finding the games.

LOCK = SUBMIT YOUR TRADE, Don't just put it in the cart.

So if I can edit a submitted trade, can I add other games that weren’t originally part of the submission?
No. Only quantities can be changed. Changing quantity to 0 means you're removing the game completely from the submission; which you can't add later.

If I change the quantity of a certain game I have already submitted for a trade, will I keep the same TIV?
No, It will change to current TIV for all games in that same submission.

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon on preorders?
Yes.

What happen to the Coupon code if I cancel the preorder?
The coupon code will stay with your account. It will be applied automatically at check-out as long as the coupon is not expired.

Trade-in coupon Usage:
1st Promo - $ 50 / $75 Coupon (Exp: 8/31) - Game Console Only
2nd Promo - 50 % Coupon (Exp: 8/31) - Game and Accessories
3rd Promo - $ 30 Coupon (Exp: 12/31) - Game Console, Game and Accessories
4th Promo - $ 30 Coupon (Exp: 12/31) - Game Console Only

Can I use the trade-in deal coupon when shopping from other merchants on Amazon?
No. ONLY ITEMS SOLD BY AMAZON.COM QUALIFY FOR PURCHASE WITH THE TRADE-IN COUPON. Even Amazon's other sites (Amazon.co.uk, Amazon.jp, etc.) do not participate in these trade-in deals.

Can I use my credit (not the trade-in deal coupon) on items that are not video game-related?

Yes. This is the other perk for trading in games at Amazon since you're not limited to just video games.

Can I use my credit on items sold by third-party merchants on Amazon?
According to the fine print of the Amazon gift card use, some merchants are excluded. Your best bet is to try it on the checkout page of your order.
Now, that would be stupid, wouldn't it?

It's answered in the OP. Didn't bother reading it, did ya?
How would it be stupid? When you go to edit your order page it does not show there updated but I didn't not want to risk it so I asked first. If you have a problem with my question don't fucking answer it and move on. And the last time I read the OP that thing about new games was not there. Regardless no reason to take off your dirty panties and throw them at me.

Okay, here's something interesting. I did read the FAQ in the OP, which basketb lovingly pointed cheaphuck to, specifically this part:

If I change the quantity of a certain game I have already submitted for a trade, will I keep the same TIV?

No, It will change to current TIV for all games in that same submission.

But my experience just now does not match the answer in the FAQ.

I tried to flip yesterday's Bella Sara TIotD, so I submitted a trade-in for 3 copies at $17 each, or $51. Today, I go to my local GS and they only have one copy, so I go and edit my trade down to 1. When I clicked Update, it did show my total as $11, today's TIV. But after I clicked on Resubmit, it still showed as $17.

I went back in and changed the quantity up to 2 and it showed as $22 when I clicked Update, but after I resubmitted it, it showed as $34. So does it or doesn't it keep the original TIV?! ;-)

(Also, I wanted to see if the deadline would be pushed back if I resubmitted. I don't think that was in the FAQ, but I might have missed it. Alas, it does not change the deadline.)

They probably have changed their system slightly since the last time that part of the FAQ was updated. Maybe you want to be the guinea pig for this and see whether the FAQ needs to be updated (from your description, it reads that way)?
I'd never edit an order to reduce the number of games submitted. Just don't send them and you'll be alright (at least in my experience).

come on promo. I guess I'll set up a trade to lock in my values, just in case.

Wii DeadSpace extraction is a cool 32$, most of the Blockbuster POG items flip nicely, especially COD: World at War.

but they don't come with instructions and artwork.

Haven't had this happen, but I do know that their address has changed. Games go now to VT instead of MA.

Or maybe it's New Hampshire. Either way their address has changed. Hopefully they will forward the games to the new address.

That would have been nice to know. I just sent a package yesterday in hopes of getting the credit by black friday. Shit. >:O
Haven't had this happen, but I do know that their address has changed. Games go now to VT instead of MA.
I've noticed the address change, too. However, my last two packages were shipped to an address in NH instead of the old MA.
There's no way in hell I'm ever going to go up to a GS cashier to buy that game.
You're loss. You're not going to be a very good flipper if you limit yourself to what you can buy. If you're insecure about it you could say it's for your sister, daughter, niece, etc.

Just checked UPS tracking for a package I shipped yesterday to MA. UPS claims the business was closed and will try again on the next business day. Amazon will be hearing from me because it was their shipping label I used.

Man you guys really had me stressing as I have over $200 in store credit going to Amazon set to arrive this coming week. Looked up to my tracking numbers and they all show the packages going to New Hampshire. phew....

I have two :360: GS Exclusive Ghostbusters and one regular retail Ghostbusters. What is the likelihood that the two GS exclusives are rejected (they have different UPCs)?

Same here, I used the Amazon shipping label but amazon support has no idea why it was closed today and said delivery will be made on monday!!

Any luck on ur side dude?

I sent in 5 copies of Operation Flashpoint (3 xbox and 2 PS3) I picked up during the B2G1 free Bestbuy fiasco. Four of them had the same barcode and 1 had a different one. Bestbuy had some exclusive download, so thats why they had a different one. In the end, they were all accepted.

I paid about 80 bucks for the Modern Warfare Xbox bundle from flippping the games I bought from the B2G1 sale to Amazon. I also then flipped the Rock Revolutions to PlayNtrades and got about $4-6 bucks for them in varying stores, so none went to waste. Including gas, the MW2 Xbox 250 GB bundle cost me $90 because I got a refund of $60 when my gamecase was cracked and I asked for a refund.

I'm thinking of trading in 3 copies of the same game, but I'm not sure I'll be able to get them or if I'll end up with 1 or 2 copies instead of 3. What is the best way to submit this trade before the TIV goes down?

Submit a trade in for each different combination.

I would say I'm a moderate flipper. I read some stories on here and I know I'll never have the time/commitment to be that hardcore. Kudos to those who do though, but I'm happy with the flips I do every once in awhile.

So I do 1 1 trade & 1 2 trade? That way I can trade in up to 3 or just send 1 of the trades I guess and not go over the maximum. Sounds good, I just wish I could avoid multiple mailings.

I'm fairly sure you can edit quantity after the fact can you not?

Edit: Just checked it with a trade I had pending and you are able to change the quantity of the games. Changed it both lower and higher and it worked fine.

I'd submit one order with the quantity being 3. If you end up getting less than that, just send in what you have - no need to adjust the trade-in order. They credit you for whatever you send in.

You can but if the value changes you're screwed.

Even though putting 3 and only sending what I actually get has worked for people I don't want to take any chances in case they decide to put a stop to that. I imagine it makes their processing times longer. Thanks though that is very good tip, just not for me.

Maybe I can submit an order of 3 if the value doesn't change. I assume the limit on how many you can trade in doesn't start until they actually receive the games?
... I assume the limit on how many you can trade in doesn't start until they actually receive the games?
In my experience, it starts as soon as you put it in your cart/submit the order. When I try to add more than 3 of a given title in the cart I get an error. If I've submitted a trade with 1 game, it doesn't allow me to add more than two of the same game to a new order.

This. If I remember right the count doesn't reset if you cancel the trade in either, so once you submit your trade-in whether you send them or not you've lowered the number you can trade in of that title for (I think) three months.

I also played with changing quantities and resubmitting today and found that (at least for me) if the value of the order goes up (i.e. you remove an item from a trade-in but other items in your trade-in have gone up in value) then it doesn't change any of the trade-in values. It'll show that the total values have gone up, but when you resubmit everything drops back to the original values you submitted at. No idea if it does the same if the values have gone down.

FYI. Left 4 Dead (not game of the year) for Xbox360 is currently trading in for $18.75 with Amazon.com. Interesting since this version doesn't have the free DLC that is included in the GOTY edition.

Argh, I have a mountain of games that are taking up room on my kitchen table that I really just want to get rid of. I should ebay some of them since I would get a higher return value, but sometimes I'm a little lazy and I've been dealing with non-payers lately. I put everything into Amazon and I see I can make about $123 worth of credit. Do you guys this I should take the plunge? Or should I try to ebay off some of the higher value games? Or should I hold out for a trade in deal?

I think you should send them to me for 1/2 the price, that's definitely the best decision.
how do they compute the shipping, can i put 2 games in a big bubble envelope and put 1 shipping label on it?
Since they pay for it, put it in a box. It's more secure and... they're paying for it.

Ugh, Ghostbusters dropped $9 in a few days, I had three copies rejected earlier because I stupidly submitted the trade with reprinted cover art to fend off rejection because of the GS exclusive cover.

Now, do I return the copies of Ghostbusters to GS or eat a $27 loss and resubmit the trade?

Maybe there is a promo coming?

you can send a box full or two games in one bubble mailer if its big enough just make sure to protect you items so they wont claim that they got there cracked---and like someone said they pay for everything shipping n-- returns so far i really like their trade in --

just send in 2 games about half hour ago
$65 value hoping to use that this week on a good gaming deal.

I just noticed my 360 case has a tiny crack in it, should I swap it with one of my own 360 game cases just in case?

Anyone else has any luck with the change in shipping address? I sent a package to the old address (MA) using Amazon's own pre-paid label. It's been a while now but the tracking shows that it has reached MA but the business is closed and they will attempt redelivery.

Isn't there a forwarding address instead? I'm not happy because this delay is causing me to miss the Amazon credit I was planning to use during their BF sale... anyone else had any resolution to this? I wrote to Amazon but haven't heard back yet. grrrrrrrr.....

Guys beware of sending in games with mulitple retail exclusive content. I have recently been rejected on a Gamestop Ghostbusters and 2 copies of Resident Evil. One RE5 said wrong item, the other said "not for resale". I didn't even realize they were not normal retail releases. Sucks for me...I really hate NORAM.
