Wow what you guys are calling damage is a joke.  Dragon Age Inquistion was a joke.  Some dented corners on a box, is not damage.  It is not a collector's box, it is cardboard meant to protect the contents.

I think having an undented box is great but at the end of the day I agree that the contents is what matters. With that said, they should deliver a protect that isn't damaged.

My confirmation still say it's being routed to the post office from UPS. Why don't UPS just deliver it to my address? Why routed to USPS to deliver it to me. Kind of weird.

Guess - I'm still waiting for my shipment. Let's hope no damage to both my copies.

Well guys, for those wanting to get the US LE of Guilty Gear Xrd, it has hit a slight delay, and yeah, its kinda dull, and it might take a week or 2 after its US release once this snafu has cleared out. http://bit.ly/1CDmZGQ

---

The game will still come out with the Standard and Digital releases on time though.

What can even be done for the Kingdom Hearts CE damage? If they were truly limited, they aren't going to have any to send out in exchange. The most likely thing will be a partial or full refund, and even then they'll probably want the whole thing back. I get that receiving a package with something damaged is annoying and a pain in the ass, but when a lot of people are just complaining about minor dings and scuffs, it doesn't even seem worth it. If the actual contents are damaged, that's another story and needs to be fixed. I wouldn't be surprised if Square-Enix looks at it the same way.

This is a budget shipping method that UPS offers in conjunction with USPS. It used to be called Mail Innovations back when I worked for eBay Enterprise, I'm not sure if it's called something different now (Sure Post?). Quite a few e-com distribution hubs use it (especially during the holiday season). UPS picks up the shipments and handles delivery all the way to the local delivery USPS distro facility, where it is then handed over to USPS to deliver.

Saves the company from having to deal with another pickup vendor clogging their warehouse and saves UPS the costs of final delivery - all without adding much incremental cost to USPS since they have to do the routes regardless.

For how much they charged for shipping the KH Collector's edition, the least they could do was package the box in some form.  As soon as I picked the shipping box up, I felt everything inside move instantly and knew mine would be damaged.

My KH CE arrived in mostly good condition. Tiny ding in the top corner and some fairly light stress marks near the bottom of the front where it looks like some weight put some pressure on it.

All in all it's just disgusting how they would think shipping a $99 collector's edition in a box that barely fits with no padding whatsoever is acceptable. Idiots...

Wow.

Gotta love CAG. The same people bitching about damage to their CE are the same people who'd be complaining if they offered a premium shipping method and charged even a $1 for it.

Why don't you all call up and cry and be honest "Dear CSR, I really only bought this to resell and ummm... I can't get top dollar because you sent it to me and one of the seals is crooked and their is a small ding in the corner".

It was a $100. If you're not happy return it. Or sell it at cost to someone who wasn't able to get a preorder in.

I can guarantee you that I'm a bigger collector then 99% on this site. I have just about everything that has come out in the past five years. This happens... but the "I paid a $100 and this is an injustice... please compensate me" routine is getting pretty old.

With the Square store, though, it's not just a "this happens sometimes" situation. With them, it's typical, and that bullshit needs to stop. 95% of the time I keep everything I buy so, yeah, with something like this I would gladly pay an extra few dollars for better shipping/packaging. It should be obvious to anyone mailing anything that carries the title "Collector's" to at least put some god damn padding in the box. This is a SE store exclusive, so they know exactly who they're marketing it to. They fully realize that only the hardcore fans are gonna pay that much for it and common sense should tell them those people are collectors who don't want it showing up looking like shit. I mean, this is just utter stupidity on their part.

Exactly that. I keep honestly everything I buy and just didn't want my Collector's edition to show up looking like shit, especially for a series of games that years ago I would consider myself a crazy fan girl over.

Sorta on-topic (since we're berating the mailing and packaging of CEs) but has anyone ever had to try and recover a package from the "Mail Recovery Center"? A CE item was shipped to me with tracking, and the tracking says it could not be forwarded or returned and is being "processed" at the Mail Recovery Center??!?

You're clearly not much of a collector if you don't care about damage. You're also not very bright as we were all charged substantial shipping for this item given the weight and Square didn't even bother to ship it in the manner we were charged for (USPS Priority Mail). $120 including tax and shipping is a lot of money and it's not unreasonable to expect that the item should arrive without damage. If the item was on clearance, maybe I could understand some corner cutting happening. That's not the case here. But please, if you care so little about damage, why don't you trade your undamaged copy for someone's damaged copy. I'm guessing you wouldn't be willing to do that and this is just another attempt to lecture the rest of us about how you're so superior and evolved.

Have they said who is selling it or how much it's going to cost? I listened to him ramble for the entire 3+ minutes and he left out the most important information.

The article I linked says it right there...

How to pre-order in the US & Canada: PS4 20th Anniversary Edition will be available in very limited supply for pre-order starting Saturday, December 6th. Please watch the PlayStation Experience keynote starting Saturday morning at 10:00am Pacific Time to learn more.

It states the price and who is taking/fulfilling orders? Or does it tell the reader to watch a presentation to find out more?

No I'm not much of a collector

Whine some more. Maybe in a 100 years your descendants can get reparations for the wrongs that were committed against you by the company that square chose to fulfill your order.

....but my damaged corner!

My box is ripped from the corner to about the middle of the box and has several badly dented corners and creases throughout. Nobody here is being unreasonable. We are simply expecting that we will get an undamaged product like so many other retailers seem to be able to deliver, including Square Enix until they switched fulfillment companies with this last CE. You can laugh all you want, but a collector cares about the condition of the items they collect and if you're someone who doesn't, I'd say you're more of a hoarder.

To your earlier point, Square won't even make a decision. As such, we can't either exchange the item or get a refund as they keep saying they are working on it and there is no specific ETA. That to me is the bigger issue here and even more outrageous than the poor shipping and damage.

No. When I get items that I'm not satisfied with I return them. Regardless if it's the manufacturer, retailer or fulfillment companies fault. Asking for partial refunds is ridiculous if you plan on keeping the item. Send it back and go without or keep it as is.

I understand the "I want it pristine (so I can sell it... let's not leave that out)" but if you're so anal about your collection getting a partial refund isn't going to take that angst away so send it back.

It would be amazing if retailers started blacklisting customers who asked for or expected partial refunds.

Square won't allow returns at this point. I specifically asked them about it yesterday. They just kept saying someone is working on the requests and an answer will be provided in the future. I don't want a partial refund. I either want a replacement or a full refund in exchange for returning the item. I've been collecting games for 25 years and I pride myself on keeping things pristine. I won't accept damaged goods and nobody else should be expected to either.

In SE's defense, the game technically released YESTERDAY (even if you got it earlier than that), so I think it's fair to give them some time to figure out what they can do to fix the issue (that I KNOW they have acknowledged). Everyone here that has reached out to them and come back fuming mad because they didn't have an instant response needs to chill...and everyone that is paraphrasing what they are saying, making it sound like they are saying that they don't care and will get around to it needs to grow up.

Give them A WEEK to figure out what to do. Hell at least give them a few days after release to figure out what to do.

Are you always like this?
Please don't be inflammatory. This does nothing but prolong the pointless arguing.

Let's move on. This argument is pointless.
Praise Jesus.

Please don't be inflammatory. This does nothing but prolong the pointless arguing.

Praise Jesus.
Except that's exactly what the rep told me and they haven't really acknowledged anything other than that they have been receiving complaints. An acknowledgement would be "we're sorry this happened and we will be providing replacements to everyone in the near future, please stand by for details". The rep wouldn't provide an ETA and specifically told several of us that it's "only a box". He's right, it is only a box, but it's a box we paid $120 to purchase and a box that is part of a collector's edition that they specifically sold in that box and not as a bunch of individual pieces shipped in a brown cardboard box.

I notified them of this issue a week ago now. This isn't a tricky situation that requires lengthy debate. Either they have replacements or they don't. If they don't, they need to issue a return label and refund my money. I don't need them to conduct some investigation as I did everything I was asked to do as a consumer the second I was charged in full for my order a month ago. I'm sorry if this seems unreasonable to you, but publishers like NIS and Aksys and Xseed all seem to have customer service down and handle damage quickly and they are much smaller and have far fewer resources than Square.

Wow what you guys are calling damage is a joke. Dragon Age Inquistion was a joke. Some dented corners on a box, is not damage. It is not a collector's box, it is cardboard meant to protect the contents.
Yeah my DA CE is literally broken in half with map pieces broken & a lock pick set with no lock picks. Yes I have contacted the guy at Triforce w/pics.

If Triforce doesn't do anything by Jan. 15 I'm going to GS for a refund.

Lol @ everyone saying a collector cares about condition.

I'm not a hoarder, I display all my collector editions on my multiple bookshelves. And some of my nicer ones in my two glass display cases.

I've probably spent over $5,000 on collectors editions. (That's not counting statue's, lithographs, and other gaming/movie memorabilia I bought)

I couldn't give two fucks about the condition of the box.

I take out all the goodies, display them in my display case, on my bookshelf, or on my wall.

Really fucking irks me that you can sit there and tell *ME* that I'm not a collector because I don't collect the way *YOU* do.

I would understand if the box was see through like the South Park one was but you can't even see what's in the box with this one unless you take the stuff out.

I'll buy the thing off you broken piece and all for what gamestop will give you + shipping. This thing is going for insane prices on ebay... I actually made a post two pages back about how I wish I would've bought the thing because I didn't know it was gonna go up that high!

EDIT:

Exactly. Who cares about the box? If you're not displaying the stuff in the collectors edition why are you buying them? To look at your sealed box?

(Though I will admit, I probably would buy two of every collectors edition if I was rich to have one sealed and one open. I guess I'll put that on my "If I win the lottery" bucket list.)

Yeah, but I fully expect it to be worth double that on the market.
Especially since there are only 12,300 of them. Where did that number come from anyway?

This makes me wish Microsoft did something more special with the Day One Edition Xbox One console...but then again if they did I probably wouldn't have found one in February.:)

Even if it was $400 I couldn't justify buying a second PS4.

But the $500 tag makes sense. It comes with a camera, and it's going to be very limited collectors item.
