The GS I shop at in STL have two gathering dust on the top shelf. They were preorders not picked up.

Of course a different store a few miles away had a Persona 5 CE sitting on their shelf through December last year & I bought it to flip.

I don’t know about online orders, but in store I was told the statue is a separate small box that when on the transaction makes the Gold Steelbook free.

So I imagine it would be a similar setup for online but no one has told the customer service people how corporate is doing it.
 
I’m really surprised there’s not a lot of complaints on here for the VC 4 CE. The slip cover is longer than the box it covers so in the cellophane process it can easily crinkle the top of the slip cover. That’s what happened to mine but it’s minor & I didn’t want to risk waiting for a new copy & I want to play the game.
 
Yeah it was the same for mine but IDC. TBH not sure when I'll even get around to it with all the games flooding my schedule lol.

I ordered it when it was $50 and just saw my Amex preauth for $50, so looks like they’re gonna honor the checkout price, which is the legal thing to do
 
Bought a copy of Ultimate Forza Horizon 4.  Steelbook was dented to shit.  Exchanged it, same thing.  Wtf gives?  Ended up just returning it because I don't want to keep exchanging the damn thing.  This was from Best Buy in case anyone was curious.

 
Kassandra Edition of Assassin's Creed Odyssey is back in stop at Gamestop for the PS4. I know it's going to sell out in an instant but can't decide if it's worth the $170 (after taxes and shipping) compared to the Gold Edition for the X1X I have coming from Best Buy that was $8\5 after discount and reward cert, plus $10 for pre-ordering coming back after the sale.

I did want the Kassandra edition since for years I’ve always bought the GameStop exclusives versions of AC. It’s just been a thing.

Then they stopped with the GS exclusives so I bought the gold editions when available. Now that GameStop started it back up I was tempted. What held me back is it doesn’t come with an art book when the Ubisoft store CE does, plus it doesn’t seem to be a real collectors edition, just a statue and game separate.

Right now this is the first time I’ve preordered an AC game since AC3. Got tired of getting burned and seeing the game go half price the next month, with bug fixes as well. This time it seems Ubisoft got their shit together. Plus with Best Buy getting 20% off, plus $10 back, then probably another $10 back in RZ points, and then the art lithographs, I was sold on the gold.

This is my problem too. It really irks me when collector's edition content doesn't come bundled together. Essentially this just makes it a $40 statue tacked onto the already overpriced gold edition. Even with credit to burn I'm not sure if I can justify the price.

You're welcome! I'm concerned about starting it right away... there seems to be so many options and choices in the game, with alternating story branches, hiring mercenaries, and dialog choices. I usually like to read up on tips and strategies first since I'm a completionist and go for platinums. I'd hate to go down a branch on a 100 hour game and miss trophies.

I'm getting the Spiderman CE this week as well and considered starting that, since it's shorter than AC Odyssey plus has some bug fixes already from a few patches.

I'm still somewhat torn, though I did see gamestop updated their site to ay gold steelbook with figuring now, yet the image still says "collectors edition" when it really isn't.

Hmm. I heard about that trophy. It's a shame... what if one wanted to do a 'clean' run and not be a whore?

I'm worried about endings too. As a purist I always try to get the 'best' ending. With the game being so long, how would one see the multiple endings without playing for 500 hours?

Back up your save before doing the deed, get the trophy, then re-acquire/load your earlier save? Or maybe there'll be a character you genuinely want your protagonist to get to know better, I dunno.

Yeah, that's a lot and might just keep the price up over time longer. That said, Far Cry 5 had 3 for free and still went to 60 bucks eventually. Even with the backlog I think I can beat the over/under of playing Odyssey before it hits that price though, even with the gauntlet of amazing stuff coming this fall.

it doesn't. rings up 149.99 and we're not allowed to sell separately under any circumstances, since they were made for these soft bundles.

That's so... greedy and simple idiotic. The statue is cheap and actually looks bad even in person. Her face is just... odd. It has thinkgeek labeled on the back, which seems to be that it was supposed to be or will be sold separately.

AC:Origins was 30 bucks a few different times between feb and august, the SKUs were merged, and Targets kept occasionally getting 1-2 gold versions in stock during the course of the year. I know this because I bought a few of them.

I said possible spoilers as during both of Giant Bomb East’s publicly streamed gameplay segments Vinnie kept asking Alex about whether he had seen wrist blades, etc. yet & Alex kept saying not yet. Plus always try to be wary of spoilers as that is a big deal for some.

I’m guessing with the first of the 6 season pass episodes being the Legend of the Hidden Blade maybe all of the traditional assassin getup, etc. is in the backend of the game.

GS’s website also doesn’t allow for enlarged picture viewing so it’s not been posted much in a viewable picture size, if at all. Plus with it being a sold out item, the only way to find the listing for it is to go through the mobile version of the GS website.

Ah. Well I never saw a copy for numerous targets in several states after I got mine shortly after release. Perhaps it was local to you. I never did see Far Cry 5 drop below $50 either. Got it when ubi games were 2 for $100.
