Just was able to place an order for Smash Ultimate on Walmart - previously all day it had been telling me unavailable for pickup or shipping in my zip code, so if anyone still wants one try again!

Not hating on anyone but does anyone really care about items like this? Remember the Super Mario Galaxy Limited Edition coin? These thing's never serve any purpose or gain any type of value, its such a weird promo item to give out to someone.

 
Mine arrived from Best Buy in a box that was appropriate, however they shoved it in the box and the top got torn a bit.  Also the coin wasn't included.  They were a major hassle eventually I got a local store to give me one.  Trying to find another Smash Ultimate to order so I have the box in good shape

To me no I could care less BUT if they are going to include these for free to something I already preordered then yes I would like to have it. Yes it is a weird promo but a neat free included item that I will gladly take.

I gave mine away. I also throw away figpins and what not when they're included with things. I'm not a trinket / doo-dad type of guy, and I don't need all of this random crap cluttering up my house.

It's an incentive for some to buy at Best Buy. It's also a deterrent from returning since if you don't return it they charge you $10 for it.
 
What's going on with Walmart anyway?  Not just Smash Bros., but trying to check out with anything gives me an error message.  Tried different browsers, even my phone.  Are they down today or something?

The non-bundle price on the coin is actually $50 just like the Mario Kart 8 Steelbook. ;)

Received mine today and the coin was included in the box. Guess they did it differently for some people.

I did notice that the $10 reward for preordering the game is not yet pending in my rewards account. I'll give it 2 weeks like I am supposed to, but in my experience these $10 rewards tend to show up right away if the game had been preordered a while ago.

dunno, my only guess is that it might be a regional allocation type of thing.

my 2nd guess is that it's broken on purpose just to drive seasonal traffic to their webstore while the listing stays cart-able.

Please tell me you are kidding.... I did a pre-order for in store pickup today (before I re-purchased the Ultimate edition from elsewhere) and was under the impression the coin would be in store so I could easily cancel both. But nope.... coin is being mailed with no way to cancel it, so even if I cancel the game there will be that large of charge for the coin?

 
Got my Smash Brothers Ultimate CE from amazon.  Was impressed they took the time to package it pretty well with no damage in a box.

For what it's worth, I've returned numerous games to Best Buy that I've preordered without returning the preorder bonus items and have gotten the full refund every time. For example after seeing the disaster that was FO76's launch I was able to return the game without the steelbook for a full refund, no deduction (aside from the $10 reward cert obviously). Not sure if it's any different for cancellations though as opposed to purchases/returns.

That's not what he means. Best Buy will charge that price if you want to just buy the item in-store. You can just keep the coin.

Mine from Amazon was just put in a larger box to bounce around while being shipped. Luckily it came out ok with very slight corner rubbing. But the kicker is that I ordered refills for my Lysol No Touch soap dispenser and they actually put air pockets in that box (seperate shipment from a different order) to prevent movement. But for my $130 CE game, they just put it in the box with nothing else. Amazon never ceases to amaze me with their stupidity sometimes.

The FO76 steelbook didn't work out this way for me. I canceled the in store pickup preorder for the game then the steelbook shipped while I was cancelling the game... So, I got a $10 charge for the steelbook. I just returned it when it arrived, but still a hassle.
 
I returned my Fallout 76 CE to the store without the steelbook and I was just gonna tell them to subtract the $10 they owe me for the price of the steelbook, and when I returned it the supervisor in the customer service section asked about the steelbook, I told him just that to subtract it from the total and he said nah it's ok and just refunded me the full amount.

Probably because he felt bad about giving me shit for trying to return it. He kept telling me the game came out in June so it was way past the return date and I was like no dude it came out a few weeks ago, I placed the order for it in June. So he went to the site and saw the release date and apologized.

Once upon a time a bonus item or poster or something became sought after and sold for some ridiculous amount on everyone's favorite scam site eBay.

So people now hoard every poster, promo item, sticker, price tag, receipt, coin, and wrapper just in case.

And now days people who do YouTube videos and such get into unspoken humblebrag microcompetitions to show off the most swag for these kinds of big releases so you know there are people who got multiple copies all over to get one of everything.

When someone sees someone else's in mint condition in a photo spread showing the mint CE box, poster, coin, etc, etc. It's kinda shitty when yours is damaged or missing.

I remember when we used to get decent and good pre order items, like T-Shirts, action figures, bobbleheads, hats, even video games sometimes (OoT Master Quest). Now its all stickers, pins, coins and already finished content thats offered as "bonus" dlc that they will charge you money for later :)

 
I just hope there is another badass statue. I bought mk10 both versions because I wanted both statues. ..... sorta hope it’s not Scorpion again though 🙄

Master quest has to be one of the best pre order bonuses of all time.

I remember when Mario kart 8 came out on Wii U you got a free digital game with it to redeem in club Nintendo, though that wasn’t really a preorder bonus.
 
Ended up cancelling the Ultimate and went with the regular in the end. $47.99 and a $10 reward certificate won out over the $150 for the CE when the steelbook isn't that great and as much as I love that pro controller it's still just a pro controller.

Never cancel, always pickup and return. If you cancel, it will be charged but the other way around you can keep the coin for free.

Has Nintendo stated if the Smash Pro Controller is just now a new variation they will be printing regularly or are these limited? Nothing in the description itself says limited edition that I can find, but the only retailer I'm seeing that has them available for order at this point is Target, and earlier this year I missed the boat on the Sea of Thieves limited edition controller because I figured, "it's just a controller" and now those run $130 or so... So would like to order one if indeed limited.

If it is like the Xenoblade Chronicles 2 controller, it will be limited. Given that any purchase at most retailers can be returned well into January (because of holiday returns), I would pick one up now.

 
My one CE regret is no more as of today.  Witcher 3.  Found one decently priced on on ebay that had the Yen/Triss steelbook (already owned the Ciri steelbook), CE guide, journal, map, and the statue in good condition. Seller pulled all the stop in packing too. Statue was in a box with foam nuts and everything else outside of that box individually packaged well enough to ship on it's own.

 
Probably extreme YMMV, but if your local Target store happens to have the Fallout 76 Power Armor editions, Xbox One at least, in stock, they might be 50% off.

So, it's missing the medallion (and possibly Gwent cards)? There's also a nice box everything but the statue comes in. And there's 3 steelbooks total. (sorry)

yeah I know about the third steelbook and have the cards from the DLC CEs already (they only came with the Xbox version of the CE btw). Box I am ok with and got the keychain. The statue was the main thing I was after and the other stuff was just a bonus.
