FAQ's:

  • Amazon & Gamestop do not have a pre-authorization charge.
  • Bethesda Store and any of the Treehouse Brand Stores do not have a pre-authorization charge either.
  • Best Buy, NISA Store, Square-Enix Store all have a pre-authorization that goes away after 3-4 days or so, 7-10 days max.
  • All pre-orders with Paypal, you pay the full amount when the order is placed NOT when it is shipped.  This goes for every retailer that takes Paypal as a form of payment
  • Be cautious when going for free shipping from any Exclusive Store since they all use Digital River.  Say you order 2 CE's from S/E Store and they have different release dates, DR will wait till the last item comes out to ship yours.  Meaning (since Digital River sucks donkey balls), they could end up selling your pre-order on the first item to release and you could be SOL.  Also be careful ordering something to get your free shipping threshold as well because if the item goes OOS, then you have to wait for it to come back in stock.  This happened to many CAGs ordering the Lightning Returns CE from the S/E store because they ordered key chains that went OOS.
  • ^TL;DR Version:  If something goes out of stock or is not out yet, it will delay your order.

$200 at BB when you factor in GCU discount isn't bad... just keep in mind MS tends to over publish games and this is being carried by just about every retailer and not a single one has sold out yet... combine that with the fact their hasn't been a published print size and I think it's likely there'll be enough leftover post launch for it to hit at least one clearance cycle.

That being said everything looks to be of good quality so if you're really interested and can swing the price more power to you. I'm going to keep my ~ $200 AZ preorder (they put it up at significantly less then MSRP initially) and if it looks like it hasn't sold out anywhere prior to release then I may cancel and wait it out

Yeah typically I try to gauge how rare a CE and sometimes will preorder an extra or two and throw it up on eBay. It helps lower my costs or can typically get me my own CE for free. Like you said I don't expect this one to sell out or be rare in the long run but you never know I suppose. Not holding my breath because as you said no retailer has sold out and we will be close to within a month of the release date.

If you want to talk about rare talk about the TLOU Post Pandemic Edition. I still have my copy sealed and might sell it in the end because it's worth so much.

Hindsight is 20/20 but I laugh because the CE thread was full of idiots saying "that statue sucks..." and "this won't be rare" when TLOU PP was first announced. I went ahead and preordered two so I'd have one to keep and one to display. That was an easy call though because it was a new IP and a GS exclusive.

I really wish that MS/EA had made the Titanfall CE a TreeHouse Brand Stores exclusive and limited it to say 20,000 numbered units. They would have had no problem selling those and it would have made it much more enticing to collectors.

For sure. It would have made the statue seem a lot cooler. Like you said being an exclusive to a particular store makes the rarity value go up in most cases (TLOU, Wind Waker LE, etc). Even Symphonia is sold out everywhere.

Makes me wonder if the Lightning Returns of FFX/X-2 will be rare at all since its exclusive to the Square Store. A Realm Reborn was rare and sold out everywhere so makes me wonder if the PS4 edition will follow suit.

In my experience with looking up limited editions on ebay it seems you can make more money if you sell it before the game comes out because during release, a lot more people will unload their copies and ebay then becomes flooded with them.

Either that ^ or wait like 2 years to sell it lol

I'm a huge FF fan. But I feel this console generation has had a huge disservice. Three FF games - all of them set in the "Lighting" universe. I really disliked the first one, and we've been getting nothing but more of the same crap since it released.

What happened to a new addition with each release? Sure, I'm cool with an occasional -2, but all three?

I'm not getting this. It'll be $34.99 before you know it. Then $19.99 then $8.99. Fast.

Can't wait for Final Fantasy Versus or FF 15. I think that is due out some time in 2025. =D

You do realize that X-3 is all but confirmed at this point? The HD release of X/X-2 is being used to gauge interest in another title in that series. I for one loved the FF13 Saga. I think that has a lot to do with the fact that I have never played any other FF game. I've played Kingdom Hearts but I haven't played any of the other FF games. I do intend to pick up X/X-2 collection in March though. With that said I think I liked the 13 Saga because I viewed it as a clean slate. I had no other FF game to compare it to.

I think another thing that FF13 did was help FF15 in that if there was no 13 saga then there would be many many years without a numbered FF game. They are completely different teams so without the 13 saga what would we have during the wait for FF15 and KH3?

@TooPoor, you can list a preorder if its close to the release date. I think its like one month before because I was able to list the next gen consoles before the release.

 
Oh, didn't know that since I only sell games that I have beaten. 

On a related note, ToS CE on Amazon still doesn't have a deliver date estimate.

That's normal for Amazon with CEs from my limited experience, usually seem to just up and ship right before hand.

I dont know what their pre order policies are. All I know is that you have 60 days from the day of purchase (?) in order to request a refund through paypal.

If you dont get your stuff before that time frame then you are screwed :-({|=

You can sell items before they come out, there's a section about it in the selling guide:

If you want to list presale items, you must meet all of the following criteria:

  • Guarantee that the item will be available for shipping within 30 days from the purchase date. Be sure to clearly state this information in your listing.
  • Clearly indicate in the listing that the item is a presale item.
  • The handling time specified in your listing should reflect the time from the end of the listing until the item is shipped to the buyer. Be sure to specify the correct handling time in your listing.
 
That Realm Reborn CE is pretty tempting, especially considering the price of the PS3/PC ones now.

Could I make my money back by selling the game & security token? I honestly just want the Amano box and the OST/journal. It'll be ages before they print that art again for some anniversary/Ultimania book.
 
Fookin 'ell mun I just realized I had my preorder for Bravely Default set through Amazon a while ago which probably means damaged packaging which probably means sad CAG.

 
I remember it has been confirmed by their official twitter or something that it is all the CEs., i.e. not GS exclusive.

If it's more than $120 I'm not buying.

I said before on here many times that my Target is a total POS. It's in a bad area so that has something to do with it, but the employees there are so lazy and don't care. There are always stains on the floors and things laying and strewn all over the place.

Went in today to see if they got the Lightning Returns pre-order cards in. On the way to the gaming section I walked by what I swear was a streak of blood. But anyway, they had the 360 cards hanging up, but not PS3. The guy didn't even know where to look for them. He led me around in circles and was like "Nah, don't think we got those." I said well, you got the 360 ones in, logic tells me they all probably arrived together in the same shipment. He checked a drawer and pulled out a couple Dark Souls 2 ones and said "Yeah man, this is all we got."

Second trip to Target, second time walking out frustrated. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if this location doesn't even get steelbook versions of the game. Don't know what else I could have done though. The employee seemed annoyed, like he didn't want to look for the cards.

ill see if i can get the dpci so they can check it that way but i wont be at target until friday. unless somebody else can get it before me who already purchased it.

its the number on the receipt next to the item. its an electonics item so it should start with 207 and be 9 digits long. i have the 360 version so my dpci is 207071087 if anyone else has similar issues looking for the 360 card.

 
Alrighty, so DPCI is the UPC without the first two numbers in front of it then.

2070710888 for the PS3 presale version. You should be able to look it up from that.
