It shows commitment and in most cases increases the volume of follow-through. You might look at $100 as a big number, but when you go to pick it up and are only paying $75 it feels cheaper than it is. It's all marketing tact if you ask me.

This. It's like if you pay $5 each week for 20 weeks to pay off a $100 CE. You're still paying the same, but it feels cheaper, and, honestly, most people would probably say "It's just $5". What else would it be going towards that week? Coffee and a donut? It's all how you look at it, but I don't see the big deal.
Hows the CE for AC brotherhood? I noticed best buy had two for 30 dollars and the jack in the box interests me for some reason.
I've heard the jack in the box is poor quality and cheap plastic. I wouldn't buy the CE if that's the main point of interest.

The jack in the box is definitely plastic, but I wouldn't say cheap. There's nice detail on the outside of the box and the actual "jack" is solid piece. The only downside is the key feels flimsy. Certainly not a toy for kids. If you think Brotherhood is worth $15-20 then the jack in the box is a good bonus.

Is the JITB different between X360 and PS3 version?

No, only the place you bought it from made a difference on what the JITB was. One was the doctor, one was the harlequin. I think gamestop had the harlequin and amazon and the ubisoft store had the doctor one.

Never played the games to be honest. I tried the trial for plus users but it didn't last long enough to get a feel for the game. I was thinking about picking it up and revaltions with the first game on the disc. Only one I would be missing would be AC2.

And where are most of you pre-ordering the CE of borderlands from? First tme pre-ordering a CE so I have no prior experience with retailers or amazon with them.

Anyone notice that all versions (PS3, 360 and PC) of the Ultimate Loot Chest Editions of Borderlands 2 are all unavailable for pre-order on Amazon? :whistle2:s

Sold out at best buy and gamestop also. There is one guy selling them for 275 on amazon
Sold out at best buy and gamestop also. There is one guy selling them for 275 on amazon
I guess it really might be limited after all, then.

Surprise that it went from being released to sold out in a little more than week's time. Even most of the "holy crap, this is limited" CEs don't disappear that quickly.
I know. It came back in stock yesterday for amazon for 12 hours and then OoS again. I'm hoping I might still be able to preorder in store. =/
Might be worth checking out later today. Wish I could also set the Amazon notifications for having that come back in-stock, though it's not listed there at the moment.

Assassins_Creed_III_Collector_Ubiworkshop_Edition__77757_zoom.jpg

http://store.ubiworkshop.com/assassins-creed-iii-collector-ubiworkshop-edition/

UbiWorkshop is offering a preorder for a quasi-CE of ACIII. Includes the regular version of the game, updated hardcover encyclopedia ($50 value), and a softcover compilation of The Fall and The Chain graphic novels (normally $19.95 each).

$99.99 plus Free Shipping if you preorder before July 4th. $109.99 after.

You will be charged for the full amount when the order is placed, so consider yourself warned.

This is an excellent deal if you want the encyclopedia, since shipping in the US is ~$13 for that item alone (~$63 total).

No good at best buy. They said they had shut the sku's down "in order to make sure they have enough to fulfill current preorders". I assume its the same at amazon ande gamestop. Guess I get to test my luck and try to get one on release day:cry:

Guess we might be out of luck after all. I'll run by GS today and see if I can pre-order it there in-store.

Gamestop told me the ultimate edition was OoS and no idea if it would come back. Here's hoping you get lucky at yours later.

According to the GS rep I spoke with at one store by my house, they apparently cut off all pre-orders for the Borderlands 2 Ultimate LootChest edition yesterday, which was the last day. :whistle2:s Supposedly won't be coming back, unless 2K decides to make more of them, which at this stage of the game, is still an option.

Maybe this this will actually be limited after all, if they've cut off pre-orders with less than two weeks since pre-order being an option.

If so, then there's still hope of Ultimate Loot Chest Editions popping up on Amazon as the release date approaches, like what happened with the Dark Edition.

I wasn't even considering getting the ULC Edition, but with it potentially being a hot collector's item, I might have to jump on one if it ever reappears for preorder.

I think Amazon will likely be the best option for it, though GS and BBY may surprise us.

This happened to me on the Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel Edition. In the beginning preorders were sold out on amazon and gamestop. Just wait a while and they SHOULD take more pre-orders.

Thank God I never went back to preorder again seeing as how limited the Balls of Steel edition is lol

So...almost four months later, and the collector's edition of Final Fantasy XIII-2 is STILL being sold. Boy, the game hasn't been doing too well.

dang, when did darksiders ii ce sell out everywhere? every site i've checked has it as no longer available. maybe since thq is struggling financially they are limiting production? idunno. gonna swing by gs and see if i can preorder there. really want the gs side quests dlc.

This is a pretty good deal considering I wanted the encyclopedia, but held off because of the high shipping charges. With the CEs already announced for the UK, we are bound to get one as well. I guess I'll hold off for now until we hear more details about the US CEs.

Can someone who's more versed in computers add this to the OP please?

With three and a half months before release, I'm sure that's something they're evaluating as we speak.

I set up a price watch on camelcamelcamel.com for a price higher than the MSRP of $150, so if it's available again, that price watch should go off when it comes back in stock.
I was able to preorder a loot chest at gamestop last night. I was on the fence about it but im kinda glad i did now.
The GS rep I spoke with said that it was after last night that they cut them off, so you just snuck in under the wire.

That's what I was told at a local GS store as well. Plus BB's kiosks no longer have a listing for it either.

It seems strange that all three retailers were cut off at the same time, mid week, and not even at the end of the month. Usually you see each place sell out individually, one after the other, not all at the same time overnight. And I wasn't aware of some sort of hard pre-order cutoff date as was the case with the Max Payne 3 SE either.

I'm sure they won't want to get caught in the trap we have for numerous large CEs out there of recent (Gears 3, Skyrim, Duke Nukem Forever, Killzone 3) where they get discounted after release due to lack of sales. Hopefully they'll make more before release.

Funny thing was I had no idea they were cutting off the pre-orders this soon nor was I even planning to pre-order it. I just went in to trade games and saw the sign there and figured what the hell I'll just reserve it for now since I had a decent amount of credit.

It is one of the 2 games this year outside of the Wii U (the other being Halo 4) that I was going to buy Day 1 anyway so I am definitely going to keep the pre-order now.

The Gears one held it's value or at least has stuck around $100 for quite a while. I was surprised.

Can't believe that ULC went so quick! Was going to pre-order at Gamestop to get it opening night...

Hope they open it up again, might try after work to get it in real quick if one around here will let me.

I've been trying to find the super awesome Assassin's Creed 3 collector's edition, the one that came with the statue and stuff.

I've tried searching Amazon, Gamestop , and even the Ubi Shop but can't find it. Does anybody know what I'm talking about or where to pre-order it from?

That edition has only been announced for Europe. So far, no specific CE has been announced for North America. If you want that edition (which is the Freedom Edition, I think), you'll probably have to get it off eBay.

Welp, I guess my plan to wait until it hits clearance wasn't so smart haha. Hopefully BB or Amazon puts some more up or I'm going to be kicking myself for not ordering one when I had the chance.

They always tend to come up again around midday the day before release when credit cards are charged and cancelles orders come back up for order. A few Amazon orders were cancelled for fear it disnt include the vending machine bobblehead so we'll like see more.

IN OTHER NEWS

ALIEN COLONIAL MARINES CE ANNOUNCED!

It seems very strange that all three retailers would cut off pre-orders on the same day for all three systems unless 2K told them to do so for whatever reason. There's nothing like a quick sell out to drum up some immediate interest from people on the fence.

Wow. This news sucks balls hardcore. Why the hell would they do that? The Ubi Shop version for the US pales in comparison to both the Freedom and Join or Die editions.

Maybe they only do enough prints to fill demand. If so, it'll make these incredibly rare and valuable.
