well I ordered one but quite frankly Im not sure why I did. I know BB still yet to put it up and Amazon will have more up at some point.

If you're ordering from the GS website on your phone/PC you're charged when it ships. If you're doing a web-in-store order (for something not available in store) then you're charged when you order.
Thanks, just wanted to make sure i get BD CE and if amazon puts it again, cancel.

Thanks to everyone that replied!

I'm guessing they do a pre-authorization right??

And is it the same when it is through paypal?

Does FE fates special edition qualify for 20% off with Amazon prime? I ordered months ago but still shows $79.99. Same thing with Zero Escape 3.
All physical games do. They just have not applied it to a lot of these as of yet. See the Amazon Prime 20% off thread for details.

Some of the older orders haven't been updated yet, but the page of the prime 20% says that CE's do fall under the 20% also.

So yes.

I'm going to Gamestop to sell a PS4 today.  It's funny that $160 cash is almost identical to $200 store credit you are offered.

Here's to hoping that Bravely Second CE pops up on Best Buy.  It will have a restock at some point on Amazon, too.

Got both Roy and Bravely Second CE (tip for roy, if you go to the main GS page and just scroll down it'll be under the 'top items' listed, you can add it from there without any hassle).  Now I remember why I hate ordering from GS.com -- $3.99 shipping charge on everything, "saver" doesn't work on Preorders and no 20% off... if it wasn't for exclusives I'd be really worried about their future.

Gotta swing by a local store later tonight anyway so I'll likely be cancelling my online orders if in-store are still available.  $3.99 charges add up quickly!

Not sure if it was answered or not, but I've never seen a pre-auth from them before and paypal charges immediately when putting the order through, credit/debit is charged when shipped.

Yea, screw that. thought it was a pre-auth first. But it's to be expected from PP.

It's also $83.60 thru GS. Amazon's our best bet tbh
Yup, just wanted to make sure i get one, but didn't know they would charge me immediately. So cancelling asap

Yet another decent CE killed by shipping cost. $12 to ship makes it almost 3 times the GCU price of the base game.
Hopefully this prime 20% off pre-orders and new releases for 2 weeks puts pressure on GameStop. I don't see how they don't price match in today's market still either.

I think most of their revenue is from used games so they don't care about price matching new stuff. And plenty of people still buy new games from them too so why bother I guess.

Woo thanks guys.  Was grabbing a coffee after I did a pre order for Roy in store and promptly turned right around and got a pre order for Bravely in too.

Got my Life Is Strange CE today after ordering it for the PS4 on Jan 18th.

They sent me the fucking Xbox ONE version of the game....and even the receipt and order both state PS4.

Seriously Best Buy has really been fucking up as of late, for me at least.  Getting real tired of their shit.

I wouldn't put it past Gamestop to flat out stop selling new games before even considering doing 20% off like Amazon and Best Buy are now doing.

Thank you guys and gals for the constant updates to Bravely Second the past day between Amazon and Gamestop. As much as I hate paying for shipping and no 20%, this is the type of CE game that may be hoarded by resellers so I will eat that extra $20. Even though I really want this at BBY with GCU, I will not be as stressed trying to lock down a copy now.

They would never eeeeeeever offer 20% off. What I could see them doing is upping the price of their PUR membership to $60 per year, and offering 10% off with 10% extra in trade-ins. And I think them even offering 10% off would be pushing it. Or use some number crunching to see what their company can "handle" and offer something like with a PUR membership at $60/year for every 15 games new you buy, you get one free, excluding collector's editions.

Gamestop, home of the returned and cancelled backup preorder safety net. It's where you get a pre order as a backup incase you miss it on Best Buy or Amazon, or a way to get an additional copy if everyone is limit 1 so you can cherry pick your CE and return the rest.

Dunno whats up with these pretentious douchebag companies like Gamestop and Verizon that think they are above market economics and competition.

They don't think they are above it, they are just "playing it safe" and don't want to risk taking losses for the 20% off. Gamestop has always been risk averse. A very greedy company.

Their $50 bare cart DS Pokemon games not selling or something? I can't imagine why!

Gamestop's problem is they don't want to be Gamestop they want to be eBay. But they can't be eBay because they only want to follow prices when they go up, and not follow them when they go down.

I'd like to say "..and that's why they'll fail."

But honestly, most Gamestop customers are completely uninformed consumers that don't know the first thing about either video games or bargain shopping.

I'm sure that they'll sputter on, but lose a lot of the "hardcore" base that they try to cultivate.

There are enough Call of Duty + Halo + Madden + FIFA knuckleheads to keep them in business for a while longer.

Most of their B&M customers I'd agree with this. I don't go into their stores much anymore, but I can't tell you how many times I go in, see some poor soccer mom buying her son a used game for like $34.99 and I'm like "I just saw that brand new on CAG for $15" I usually say something, and most of the time they wave me off and end up buying it anyway. I figure I'm going to hurt someone, I might as well hurt the mega corporation than let the soccer mom suffer, who probably is paycheck to paycheck if they are used game hunting.

Most of their customers just don't know you can get games at better prices elsewhere, but it really hits home when you see people paying more for used crap than brand new stuff elsewhere. Oh, and if you decide to return it, you have to deal with their employees trying to guilt you out of the return first, which most retailers stopped doing years ago. Gamestop still relies on decades-old archaic policies. Hell, their website still uses the word "ONLY" next to all their front page prices, even when it's MSRP. I thought businesses stopped advertising that way in the 90's.

They can always cater to their customer base and sell Doritos and AXE body spray and tank tops to make up for any losses in games.  In a bundle with Call of Duty and with no savings over individual items of course.

IMO, the only thing Gamestop has right now over other game retailers is they have so many damn locations. A lot of people still prefer to buy games in-store, but those numbers are dwindling by the year as more and more people revert to online shopping and "get connected." To me, Gamestop investing in retro games speaks volumes about where their higher ups think their company is going. It was them trying to snag something other retailers can't offer.

I think Gamestop will hang around for a little while yet, but I think by 2020 they could be on life support.

You forgot the part that that $50 cart may or may not be a crappy Chinese knock-off that won't play on a 3DS.

They see retro games as $_$ because of ebay prices and youtube lately is all. Nothing more. Like everyone else post 2007 they realized how many potential gold mines they passed up on when people would bring in boxes of SNES carts and Gamecube discs to trade for 360 games. But it's never going to work for them. They still don't understand that the people who drive those prices on ebay want mint boxes, manuals, pictures of the one they are getting, etc, and loathe Gamestop for even throwing away all those DS cases, etc. Gamestop will happily mail you a bare cart SNES Chrono Trigger with a ripped label and Blockbuster stickers for the same price as a mint CIB copy.

If they graduated their prices based on condition, and were competitive with ebay (and I mean still cheaper AFTER ebay/paypal/shipping fees), and had retro games in store, it might work. But we know that graduated price scales based on condition and being competitive are two things that are lightyears beyond Gamestop's comprehension so that's a far stretch already. On that note I just realized another Gamestop douche move; they will nickel and dime you for condition when buying stuff from you, but when they are selling it back to you, it's the same price flat regardless of condition.

Even if they were cheaper than ebay then all that would happen is ebay resellers would just be restocking their ebay store from Gamestop and you'd never see anything hit the display floor.

That's why I only buy CIB games from them and why I stopped backfilling my DS library when they started throwing away the cases. When you have the case, book, and all the Nintendo epilepsy warnings and additional product placement slips and all that stuff, it's likely legit. And as a CIB collector I want those things anyway so its win/win.

vs the little clear SD card cased swap meet knockoffs lol.

I hate when Best Buy doesn't list an item at the same time other retailers do.  With that said I secured an in-store copy of the Bravely Second CE for $25 down.  Assuming I can get one at Best Buy, that is being canceled and put back on my credit card.

This whole thing smells of the Xenoblade Chronicles SE situation (quick sellout on Amazon, got it from Gamestop, hopefully getting it from BB when they list it).

Glad gamestop still had Bravely 2nd CE still up. Would have been annoyed missing that one. Hopefully BB puts it up though. It's a bit pricey at GS.

Hadn't been into a Gamestop since they released the retro 3-pack amiibo.

Threw down $25 on the Bravely Second CE that I hope to cancel after Best Buy and/or Amazon list it. But reserved a Roy amiibo too.

Tenso received my Hyrule Warriors Legends CE. It apparently weighs 1.62 kg, which means shipping to US is a whopping $27. Wow. Maybe I should find some other things to order so they will all ship together and I bite the bullet on shipping once.

I'm in the same boat. Thinking what else could I order before they ship it to the US.
