Yeah, Botticus, I've had a few calls for EB games I cancelled WAY prior to release. The first time I called to check and they said it wasn't in their system (locally). I've also had several games preordered at EB that I haven't gotten calls for, like Final Fantasy XII for example - go figure, you'd think Aeris might want to call me about that one

.
I'm a bit disappointed in the reviews for FF III. They all seem to be in the 7-8 range, when all the hype for this had it pegged as being by far the best RPG coming out for the DS. Looks like it is middle of the pack with respect to others like Contact, Children of Mana, Magical Starsign, etc... I was really expecting this to be in the 9 range. It has a 77 average at metacritic, which of course is not bad, but not indicative of a classic, top-notch, DS game either.
Of course I'm an RPG nut, so I'm still getting it (but not till Friday, hopefully, at GR).
Let's be clear on one major point: aside from the graphics overhaul, FFIII DS is *exactly* the same game that was released in 1990, save for differing numbers for health/enemy hit points/etc. Which means that, aside from a few minor tweaks and disappointing wi-fi, the game has al the goodness (and mistakes) of an RPG from 1990.
Still hella fun.
