1750/1750 here.
whoa how'd you get a lot of the achievements before the game came out? some are dated 10/20 and 10/21
Yeah but didn't you cheat the level 100 one?
Yeah, I did. fuck Epic. I'll be amazed if anyone here will get level 100 legit. If I didn't glitch level 100, I'd still have everything but that.

How did you get 100,000 kills?

Man i hate boomshots. I always blow up when they shoot anywhere near me. But when i try to use it, i have to hit them directly to kill them. If i shoot at the ground by their feet, or hit a wall right near them nothing!

I did have an awesome moment a few games ago in a king of the hill. These two bitches were running toward me with their chainsaws revving and i headshot them one after the other. LOL Man that was great.

Gamer SDP ill be on later, but i dont know if we can do it just the two of us. I clearly am not that great. But i should be on around 10, if not sooner.
Yeah, I did. fuck Epic. I'll be amazed if anyone here will get level 100 legit. If I didn't glitch level 100, I'd still have everything but that.
Yeah I know for a fact I'll never reach it. I may get lucky and reach 50, I'm 37 ATM, so that's not too far fetched.

I guess you're lucky MS didn't flag you for cheating and reset your gamerscore since they reported they were doing this a few weeks ago for all the people who were level 100 since it was mathematically impossible to have reached it yet. Most of the people I've seen online ranked 100 also have their gamerscore/history marked private too.
Oh shit. I thought that since the first Wingman achievement was public only, they all were. There are no specific guidelines for the Flashback and Combustible Wingman achievements.
Yeah, in general only those achievements that state "Public Matches" are required to be done in public matches.
Yeah i got the wingman achievement now. That was easy. I just tried like 5 times to get some of the scorch the bloodmounts achievement in allfathers garden on level 10 of horde on casual, and wow i must suck cos i keep dying and i cant get any kills. If i try to go for a shield i just get murdered by grinders. If i stay in the middle and wait for the bloodmounts i still end up dying. Its like they only hit me once or twice and im dead.

Only achievements i need to get full 1750 points is
- Beat game on insane
- Kill 100,000 enemies
- Capture 10 meatflags in Submission (public only)
- Win Annex match on each flashback and combustible map (public only)
- Reach level 100 and win on each snowblind map (im only level 56)
- Beat waves 1-50 on a snowblind map
- Kill 25 bloodmounts while playing dark corners map
I've been playing level 10 on Highway and sticking back in the nook up stairs in the middle where the grinder spawns. Pretty much none of the bots will enter the nook besides the bloodmounts and the only other risk is when the Kantus' throw their ink grenades at you.

Myself, I still need several of the new Horde achievements (new to me since I had none of the map packs before), the Annex one, rank 50/100, along with the co-op campaign and Insane completion.

I just spent the last 5 hours getting Icy Dead People by playing on Public Horde. Yeah! For the final 15 or so waves we only had 3 people so that's pretty awesome.

Well i got levels 1-50 on snowblind tonight, and thats the last of my horde achievements i needed. I think im done with horde for a while. Unless i get the urge to play it. I think im gunna try to win annex matches on flashback and combustible maps. I dont really have many achievements left to do, and a few of them will be impossible for me. (beat on insane, 100,000 kills, reach level 100)

Beating the game on Insane isn't that difficult (you could just cheese it by having someone else play it on Casual) except for a couple of snag spots, namely the end of Act 1, and all of Act 3. Beyond that, it's not too difficult. For my Horde Achievements, I need...

Trial by, and on, Fire (1-10 on all 3 maps)
Never Eat Red Snow (1-10 on Fuel Depot)
Be Careful what you wish for
Lost in Translation
Like Father, Like Gun (Just Wave 30)
Am I only Dreaming?
Blood on the Sand (Waves 28-50)

I'm only level 28, though. So...I'm pretty sure I won't be getting those last 2 achievements anytime soon, though.

I was with 7th Number when we completed 1-50 on Snowblind - we only had three people for 20 waves. :) I still have quite a few Horde achievements to work on though. I have completed Am I Only Dreaming and Blood on the Sand but as I am a level 26, I will not see the actual achievement for a while.

^ hey I was there too.

in terms of achievements. I need to get through the campaign on Insane (to get that and previous difficulties) and co-op. Also nee all collectibles. Oh and Road to ruin co-op. I'm still waiting for a friend to get the game (and 360) to get through the co-op stuff. I need 5 of the 7 horde achievements for the DC maps. I'm trying to get through 2 of them (one to wave 10 and other to 20) solo. The 30, 40, and 50 wave ones will be held off for now.

Seriously 2.0 and the Rank 100 one (am level 44?) will come in time.

Gamer SDP, if you want to start a co-op campaign on Insane send me a msg on xbl. I also need Road to Ruin co-op. Gamer tag Gunny K

Sorry about that. :) I could not remember if you were a CAG member or a NeoGAF member.

I now have most of the Dark Corners achievements (the ones that are Horde based) but must still work on the achievements for the earlier map packs.

Anyone ever encounter Franklin the unstoppable? I was just playing submission and franklin glitched and we couldnt down him, at all. By the time i left, he had more kills than any of the human players, LOL

Yep, this has happened to me twice on Submission and I think it is inevitable that you will get a -1500 XP penalty.

First time it was Chaps on Pavilion and he was dropped near one of the planters on one side and could not be downed. After about 2.5 hours one of the players got up to a score of 10K (bastards on the other team just started camping each spawn and planting frag grenades.) and the game froze everybody on our team up where we were just walking in place and we all got disconnected. Then, the next game we played we all had -1500 XP for early disconnect. Same thing happened again with Franklin on a different map but that time I said screw it after realizing he was not downable and just exited to my dashboard and took the -1500 XP hit straight away rather than waiting for hours.

I tried to play on Flood Horde by myself. What a mistake that was. It has to be the worst possible map for Horde in the game. There's no place to hide at all. I was downed in Wave 2, then again on Wave 5 before I gave up.

I was just thinking, the best way to boost experience points on this game is probably doing the first 4 waves of horde on insane with 4 good teammates, over and over. You get 1000 points in 5-7 minutes. You'd have to be really good at wingman to compare to that...only thing is it'd get really boring and doesn't save a ton of time. I'm thinking about just doing this whenever there is double xp going on after I get to rank 50. Also a nice plus is that you could have 1-2 people not even playing, and rotate a bit so you could get free xp for a few hours while not even playing. Just make sure its a map that 2 sniper/torque pickups to make things easier.

I did this on normal up to around wave 6/7 than had to change it to casual. Camp near the car where the mortar/HoD spawns. Make sure you shoot the car so you don't get blown up later. Other camp spots is the boom/torque area or the frag/ink area (the narrow passage in the same general area as the other 2).

unfortunately I messed up and lost my shields (and died) so I had to try wave 10 by constantly being on the move. I quickly took out a G.E. on a bloodmount to have a hammerburst/lancer combo. I would lancer at long range and burst at close while constantly running. After 2/3 attempts that achievement was mine :applause:
What is the point of being downed and be able to press RT to lift up your hand? Does it actually do anything?
If you have a grenade in your hand when you are downed, you can set it off by doing that, I think that's actually an achievement. Otherwise, I'm not sure what purpose that would serve. Don't think I ever noticed.

It's to beg for mercy ;)

Yeah, it's the "A Parting Gift" achievement for doing it 10 times.

I thought its purpose seemed a bit obvious to me. Pressing RT enables your character to cry for help which is supposed to assist your teammates in pinpointing your location and alerting them to your overall presence. The locator isn't fool proof and a lot of times people aren't paying much attention anyway. If given the chance they'll run right past or forget all about you when you're inches away.

Regardless I too rarely use it unless I have a grenade in my hand. It's not as if most randoms give a damn about saving their teammates anyway.

Man todays been awful for me. I hate when i two piece someone, then shoot them in the face and they dont die. It should work everytime as long as i shoot them directly. Then i was behind a wall, and some dude was running at me I shot him with a shotgun, he shot me back, i shot him again, and he shot me back and i died! How the hell do i die while hiding behind a wall, when i shot him first twice. Just doesnt make sense. Then last round i planted a frag and the leader of a guardian game ran right past it and didnt even die. They really need to fix that rolling move that prevents you from blowing up. Just doesnt make sense to me. If you run past you are dead, but if you roll right when it blows up that is somehow supposed to save you?

The reason that Guardian didn't die is because of lag or Host. One or the other because you can't successfully roll forward to evade a frag without either unless you're one hell of a lucky SOB. You've got to set it off intentionally then perfectly time a backward roll to walk away unscathed if you aren't host. The reason you died behind a wall can probably be explained just as simply. Either the guy was cheating, the bullet lag you mentioned in your shotgun, he shot first or you simply had a body part exposed. It's hilariously infuriating when while using a pistol or Hammerburst and the reticule is perfectly lined up with a visible body part of an opponent in cover, the game won't register a hit. Especially when you're also in cover and their pop up shotgun blasts never miss their mark from the same distance.

Another problem I've noticed lately is damage issues with the shotgun as well. It seems you can still take full damage at almost any distance completely at random - active rounds or not. Eh, shit happens. Best to not dwell on it man. Flawed game is flawed.

The jumping/diving/rolling actually helps out a lot with explosives. And why would you should somebody after you 2 piece them? I thought that meant you literally split them in 2 pieces, as opposed to just downing them.

Wow i just played a submission match and when we won 2 games in a row, right after we won the connection lost. Im thinking the host was on the losing team and quit right away. So i didnt get any points.

Every time i play an annex match on a map i need to win on for the achievement, which is pretty much all of them, i lose. I bet i played at least 10 matches recently. :bomb:

Sorry to hear that. It's funny because we randomly ended up on opposite teams for Annex on Flood and we ended up winning when we had just immediately won a match of Annex on Flood the game before. I have no idea which maps I still need but I have 3/8 for that Annex achievement.

Just noticed wingman is the best for experience. I thought i would get slaughtered but I didn't. And they finish pretty fast. Some people on there are awesome though.

i was wondering if you guys think its worth it to buy the cheap version of this dl. the one with just the deleted level and 7 maps?? keep in mind i'll only be playing horde mode on these maps because i cant stand any of the other MP modes because of how corny people play (melee, shotgun blast, dead) that seriously gets on my nerves and its not fun. so are the 7maps and deleted level worth the purchase? thanks

They really need to fix it so when the host leaves someone else gets to be host. I almost finished a wingman match and i was doing really good. Then the host quit and thats it for me. Thanks for wasting my time and screwing me out of my points.

so are the 7maps and deleted level worth the purchase?
The Dark Corners maps are great but I would suggest buying the full package - it is not that much more and you will then have all the maps. I think most of the people who just bought Dark Corners already had all the other maps - this is just an option for many of us to save points. When playing Horde there is an option for Horde on Map Packs. If you do not have every map, you will really be limiting the number of people you can match up with. It always offers two maps to vote on, and both are seldom (never?) from the same map pack. I only play Horde and I am glad I have every map. I am sure others will give there opinion on this, although most of the people active in this thread have everything.

I dont even think he would be able to do horde on map packs unless he has them all. I never could when i had only flashback maps, and the only other ones that were out at the time were combustible and snowblind.

I guess XBL is down right now. xbox.com went down and then finally back up showing only 4 friends online down from 20 just a minute before. I was really hoping to get in a few games before having to hit the sack early :whistle2:(
Does anyone play gears of war 1 online anymore? I never really played that online. But now i kind of want to give it a shot.
Yea there are still a ton of people who play that want some Gears action but are sick of the BS in Gow2

We need an update that kicks people who are idle for more than a minute and replaces them with bots. It's horrible to play territories with people who are idle.

I know this is off topic but does an active sniper have any advantage over a regular shot in public matches?
Oh, and check out my stats on this game. *note: this was after like a 2 month break from playing

I wish they would change smoke grenades back to when they were in the old school weekend. I hated when they made you fall down for easy kills, and i hate them now. Its just bullshit what they do now. Its totally random how long you stay stunned. Ive seen two people get stunned at the same time and one gets out early to kill the other person. But mainly because its still a BS free kill if you are close enough.

That's not true. I was playing horde with my friend after Dark Corners came out, and he had a friend join that didn't have combustibles or snowblind, but he could still play horde with us on the Dark Corners maps, since he did buy those. The maps he didn't have just had a big sliced cog image thingie over it, meaning someone in the party doesn't have those maps. You probably couldn't play because someone in your party didn't have the flashback maps. They probably got the game used, or never bothered to enter the code.
I know this is off topic but does an active sniper have any advantage over a regular shot in public matches?

More damage. After they've been hit by an active longshot, a pistol or lancer shot will more than likely finish them off.

I wish I hadn't traded my Gears 1 away.

Gears 2 is a game designed to be a "stop and pop" game that has devolved into a shotgun rush game. I haven't even bought the new maps yet because I'm not sure I can stomach any more shotty BS.

To answer Penguin's question: yes, active anything is stronger/faster than a normal shot. It's not the as broken as the active down back in gears 1 (that I've heard) but still strong enough to down if they took a few cheap bullets already.

What? You just described exactly what shotguns are like in Gears 1, but you wish you had kept Gears 1? :whistle2:|
