You seemed to have ignored the fact that the majority of the people who are downloading it are also going to purchase the full retail game, and actually support developers. As opposed to purchasing a used copy and supporting a gamestop/gamecrazy.

You seem to be quite gullible if you think that a majority of pirates are going to buy a copy of a game they already have. That isn't how it works. Sure, some might buy a legitimate copy, but the majority definitely will not. Although this may not necessarily be the case for Gears 2, it certainly is for other games, especially single player oriented games.

Okay? If pirating didn't exist, more people would be buying copies. It's irrelevant if people are still buying copies even after pirating it, since there is still a loss of sales.

I'm amused at how some of you have been blinded by all your downloading and cocky attitude to actually realize what you're doing here. The fact is, most people that got the game for free through downloading ARE NOT going to buy it again. And yes, there may be some that actually think about the developers. But the vast majority could care less. Just think of it in simpler terms: Say you win a free car. Why would you want to buy the exact same car again?

The only logic they can provide is so that they can get the maps that come with the game. Other than that, there is no reason most would.

Pirates love to try and say they really just want to try games before they buy. But it's bullshit. Because you can rent an awful lot of games for the price of modding an xbox.

1 time cost and unlimited ammount of games vs a defined service limit of games+monthly charges. I dont have a modded xbox but I understand it.

For what its worth I know 4 people with them, they have 2 360's and buy more games then I do a year. I buy 2-3 games a year max and mostly used....

I would like to keep it that way too, so lets clamp down on the piracy discussion. You guys didn't want to hear early impressions on games to make a more informed buying choice, and because of this no one can discuss early play throughs or things of that nature.

A minority of people will buy the game either for "support" for EPIC or because they still like to have their own collection of games, and even more people will buy the game day one for the map codes located on the manual - that much is fact. Your analogy of a free car being equivalent to a burnt copy of Gears is absurd and doesn't follow a clear path of logic. If anything, the car in your analogy would be compared to downloading an Xbox 360 system, which starts becoming a silly discussion.

My brother handed me a full pre-order slip for this last night (for my birthday) and it's at one of the BestBuys doing a midnight launch. Will there be free stuff, contest, etc?
 
I know its an Amazon exclusive, but do you guys think the Lancer will be rare? I've already pre-ordered mine, but after spending $130 on the Fallout 3 exclusive, I'm debating whether I really need to be spending $150 on a game w/ a plastic gun.

You don't get one for pre-ordering....the Gold Lancer comes bundled with the LE (well its a code to unlock it), the Hammerburst is the one that's supposed to be only available at midnight pick ups.

Do they pull all the pre-order copies aside ala EB/Gamestop?

Did you download Gears 2? Why should a car and a videogame be any different? Sorry but simply attacking an argument without a reason does not make any sense to me. You have to pay for both. The price difference would not matter either way. If you really did download Gears 2 yourself, then I wouldn't be surprised by your position on this.
