Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread

Something just came up work-related that I have to finish up tonight, so I won't be able to hop on.

Next evening I could play if you guys don't finish it up tonight is Tuesday.

I might need some help with some upper-level horde maps in the near future, and would be more than happy to help others in their goals as well. I'll post back later in the week when I know what I need.
 
No gears talk since Reach came out, huh?

Good news for those of us not really looking to KoH boost: Gears 3 has been pushed back to be a holiday release so I imagine there will be several more holidays with xp bonuses to help get to 100. Gears 3 should get a buttload of polish and be really awesome with that much extra time. Either that or it was not looking good for the April release and really needed more time anyway.

Anyway, it would be awesome to get our little posse back together to knock out the rest of the horde achievements. I know those of you I did some of those with have all been playing Reach since then and I've been finishing up Borderlands and Dirt 2, but if you're getting bored of Reach at all let's try and get some horde done. Unless you want to wait until the next xp event. Isn't Halloween, what ever happened with that voting thing and the xp amount anyway?
 
It's 30x for Halloween weekend. I finally got all of my Horde achievements done, but I still want to get up to (at least) level 50, so I'm definitely up for some more Horde over Halloween, whichever maps people still need.

I'm guessing the beta will more or less decide that though I pray someone over there at Epic uses enough of their brain to include them at launch. I'm still shocked at the fact they actually considered it let alone plan to use them or give us a damn beta at all. It's almost as if Cliff himself wants Gears 3 to succeed so much that he finally cared enough to acknowledge the core issues with Gears 2 MP!

No host advantage, no host bridging, no lag = pre-order/day one purchase.

I'll definitely be playing that weekend. Need to do some multi so I play a game on all 4 snowblind maps so I get the level 50 achievement.

Still need a bunch of Horde achievements too--I just checked and I need:

1-10 on Flashback maps
1-10 on Combustible Maps
1-20 on Sanctuary
1-20 on Waystation
1-30 on All Father's Garden
1-40 on Memorial
1-50 on Nowhere.

I probably have some rounds done on some of those--just need the achievements (not sure how to check which rounds I've got through on various maps.
 
You can check your achievements in game to see how many levels you've done on the single maps, but the achievements for map packs is kinda guess work once you see how many levels you've done there. How far have you gotten on Nowhere and the others? I have to play some mp on 1 snowblind for the lvl 50 cheve as well.
 
I need most of the horde achievements as well, no biggie but if ya need someone to help let me know. I'm already maxed out @ lvl 100 but it would be nice to have some more achievements.
 
Hey guys, I need some Horde Achievements as well. I'd be happy to organize a CAG gaming group to finish them if anyone is interested to play Halloween weekend. I can't play Sunday (football and parties!) but I'm totally game for Friday evening and Saturday!

I need about 18-30 in Allfather's Garden and 20-40 on Memorial, but would be happy to help others get their cheevos too. Hard to argue with 30x XP.

Just post here to commit to playing, then I'll put you on a list and contact you via CAG to get things going that weekend.

As far as I know I should be up for Friday and Saturday evening that weekend. Will let you guys know if something comes up either evening.
 
I need my king of hill, annex and execution achievements if anyone wants to work on those. Also need to get back to 50 after having 2 level resets to pop my last achievement for horde.

My NAT was fully open, but I made some adjustments which might have helped a little.

Anyone have suggestions for keeping a party together when we enter social annex/execution etc? We had 2 groups of 4 and could never met in the same game. (also tried wingman 4 groups of 2)

Sounds great. I should be up for anytime between say 8pm EST and 1 am Friday and Saturday unless I get roped into going to a party or something. As I said, I'll post any changes in here when it gets closer and we start working on getting specific days and times down.

Also, I haven't played through that deleted chapter from the DLC at all, so I'd be up for playing through that co-op with someone else who needs the achievement for co-op either that weekend or sometime before.
 
Cool. Best time for me is probably going to be around 10:00 pm Central to whenever. The wife's parents are going to be in town for my daughter's baptism that weekend so the daytime is going to be even more iffy than it usually is for me. :)

LMK when you can tear yourself away from Reach if you want to play that co-op DLC sometime. It doesn't take too long.

400MSP for All Fronts is a stinking awesome deal. No excuse to NOT pick that up at this point. I got it at 800 and no regrets.

It's a pretty easy one to get to fifty on as long as people don't get bored of a defense strategy and start running around Rambo style which always happens with randoms in the 30s waves for me.

I have gotten thru 37. What wave can everyone else start at?

I wonder how chainsaws only in horde will affect strategy. Stay in a room and let them filter in and chop em up? Otherwise they'll just be waiting next to you with chainsaw ready while you saw up one of their buddies.
 
We'll have to discuss what waves people want to start at as the event gets closer.

I have been working with a group from xbox360 achievements on boosting MP achievements and I think most of them need horde mode achievements. Also anyone want to work on Guardian or Annex?
 
What is wrong with this game lately or is it just me? I use to play the piss out of it and rarely had any matchmaking issues. Its been 15 mins and I can't get in a fucking game. :roll:
 
jdawgg, let me know when you can do the co-op deleted chapter. I could do it tomorrow evening (Sunday) and probably most evenings next week other than Monday.

Just played through it solo guns blazing and stealth for those two achievements.

I've got all the achievements except a Snowblind map 1-50 and I'm at 38 or 39 so I'm down to help others if they need that or the other achievements. It'll work towards my Seriously 2.0 ;) I'll actually be on for a change this time as well.
 
I'd be interested in getting some horde achievements as well if you guys still have room to accommodate another. :D

I'm cool with helping others with whatever while racking up 31x EXP! But figure when we get a group we can start focusing on maps everyone needs for achievements first.
 
Didn't know some of those maps were from the PC version of GoW1. I need to do 6-10 on Tyro Station, 35-50 on Nowhere and 17-30 on Allfathers, but I'm down for playing as much horde as possible so it's cool to help out with whatever. Need all of the mp stuff as well. I want to do as little koth grinding as possible to get to 100 and I think I can just do horde every xp event and make it now that G3 is a holiday release.
