Official Goozex Thread - Goozex is Hiring!

New releases of what?

I just have some old PS1/DC games that I'm offering that are worth nothing anywhere else, so I use Goozex in the hopes that eventually somebody wants them.

I see. I'm constantly adding games to my queue (watch list or holds for new releases). By the time they drop, or I'm not playing anything, I have many games to choose from and will be in a decent spot in line for them.

Do your games have any value if you were to send them in to Amazon?

I haven't looked there, but I know that on eBay, I'd be lucky to get a bid at all on these games, much less getting more money from the buyer than I'd spend on shipping and fees. I'd have spend money to get rid of them, so I decided to just take my time and put them on goozex to put the points I get towards games I wanted. I've gotten mostly Xbox 360 games with them, so that's a nice upgrade from worthless DC/PS1 games.

With junk PS1 games I can just list everything as a bundle and list it at .99 and it will be gone in a week.

1200 points left! Got Bayonetta (for 800 points..gees). Did request Knowing on Blu-ray, and when it came in, it was an ex-rental for Blockbuster. Just wonderful. Now I'm stuck with it and the seller gets a Neutral. fuck Goozex.

I'm having a hard time spending my last 750 points. Not sure if I should continue waiting for Backbreaker (I'm eighth in line but I also need a 50 point drop on it) or if I should spend 600 points on NBA 2K10 and pick up some other cheap 150 point game just to get rid of my points and be done with it.

I've read on the Goozex forum that if the disc is stripped of all bonuses for rental copies, you can leave a negative for not receiving the right product. However if it is the rental artwork/case with the correct disc, I'm sorry. That is incredibly infuriating.

If a guy sends out a game in a Blockbuster case, wouldn't that be a negative, assuming he traded it as complete? Maybe I'm just understand you wrong, but your post makes it sound like if they send you whatever rental places generic case, it's alright as long as it's got the correct game. I've always taken "complete" to mean official case, artwork, manual, and game disc.

If the requested game or movie is the retail version but it does not meet your requested condition, i.e. disc+manual or full package, then the lowest feedback you can leave is a neutral. Example: You request "Full Package", but the game arrives disk only or the game arrives disc+manual, then neutral is the lowest feedback. And yea, if it arrives in an unofficial case, neutral is still the lowest feedback. :(

The item I am talking about, are rental copies. Majority of rental copies are stripped of special functions and the disc just includes the movie. In that case, the item is not what you requested, because this is not the same product purchasable at retail stores.

Hope that clears it up, a bit. ^__^

--- edit ---
To note, it is done this way in order to prevent scamming. If it was straight up negative for the condition not received, scammers would be having a field day reporting that users are not sending manuals and what not.

Ah, I gotcha. It's understandable that you cant leave negative, but at the same time it's lame that you can request a full package game and receive something in a cruddy Blockbuster or Hollywood Video case and the worst you can do is leave neutral because Goozex can go "well, ya' still got your game, didn't ya'?"

Exactly. I can take a shit on a game disc, rub it around, pee on it, and then mail it to you. As long as the game works I get my points.

How long has it been since Goozex has sold "new" games? I believe it's called the Goozex Exchange, but I've never tried it. I have +2000 points I need to cash in but there really isn't anything I want right now plus getting newer- used games takes to long :(

Instead of cashing out your points on the exchange, you might want to consider getting matched for some PSN or XBLA DLC/games. Whenever I trade those out, I send a 1600 points card for the trade. Usually the exchange rate is a little better on stuff like that than the stuff on the exchange (most DLC is 600 points or less). Just make sure you contact the trader when you get matched to confirm they are sending points/PSN money rather than a code to download the actual requested content.

So I'm a little frustrated with goozex, i'm new to it so i might be a newb just not understanding the system. ok so here is what has happened, i put my mass effect 2 as an offer about 4 weeks ago. at that point it was 1000 points. at first i was about 86 in line, so i knew it would take a long time. but after a week i had moved up to 32, so i was feeling pretty good, i then purchased some trade tokens. over that last three weeks i have moved to 19, down to 13, then back up to 18, then to 15. and the price has decreased to 950 points. i'm guessing what's happening is that a bunch of other guys who were on long before i was, put the offer on hold and they are slowly activating they offer. is this correct? i noticed there has been some complaints in the goozex forums about the hold system. as a newb, the on hold system strikes me a totally unfair, but it seems that the goozex community likes this system. can someone explain how this is good? also does it make sense that i just add my entire library, or even prospective game purchases, to my on hold offers and then just forget about them until i want to move them? is that what most people are doing?

That's what I do. Put everything I own on hold, even if I don't plan on trading it any time soon just to move up the list. When i'm ready to trade, I activate and I'm # 1.

Get out now before it's too late!

And don't bother with the Goozex forums. Those guys defend the site far too much.

or maybe you trash it far too much? I think the site works well, I'm happy with it. You aren't, and that's ok, but it's not as doom and gloom as some of you make it out to be.

Yeah I haven't really noticed any change like you guys are saying. Then again I never even try to get new releases. I use Goozex to fill out my collection with older games

I've had my request queue full and active for about two months now with no activity at all. A lot of those are retro games I've requested full package, but even some of the Genesis games can be bought on eBay for ~$3 so it's not like they're uncommon. Goozex is driving the appeal of the site towards the "new and now," and trying to get immediate action. While I have no problem with that, people like myself who are on there for older stuff are getting lost in the shuffle. With so much emphasis on "new and improved" they're forgetting "old and inferior."

Too many people jump on the new bandwagon, buy their points, and get their games. I heard people discussing it at a booth I frequent at the flea market -- the guys just buy the points, get the games, and sell them for a bit of a profit. Kind of a waste. For the system to work, there shouldn't be any way of buying points.. It just ruins everything.

I agree, get out before it's too late.

I disagree that he should get out. He sounds like the type of person you guys should be encouraging to stay and get active! You complain about the people who buy points and don't offer any games, but this guy has already said he has games he is offering, which is good.

Are you saying there should be more people at the Goozex forums that complain about how the site sucks?

I can't imagine any forum or moderator that'd let that continue for too long.

Yea if your offer/request is 'on hold' you still keep your place in line if you activate your offer so that is why you might see your place move both down and up as people activate/deactivate their request/offer or if trades of the item occur.

Personally I add every game I'm interested in when it releases 'on hold' to get in the queue. When I decide I want it for the price then I activate it. I usually do the same with the games I offer. That is the best way to use the site.
or maybe you trash it far too much? I think the site works well, I'm happy with it. You aren't, and that's ok, but it's not as doom and gloom as some of you make it out to be.
Yea, the same 2 or 3 people are constantly posting in here trashing Goozex and putting forth their conspiracy theories that the site is going under, etc. It is fine to have that opinion, but I'd say the people that have been happy with Goozex far outweighs the ones who have had negative experiences with the site. Personally, I have always been able to get into the queue for new release games and get them in a reasonable time frame and for a fair point value. Even better that with the games I have traded on there from clearance pickups I probably pay only around $20-$30 out of pocket for 1000 points, usually less. I have been satisfied with the site, and when I did run into a problem recently they were quick to fix it. I would agree that if you are looking for help with the service that this thread is not the right place to come for help especially with the amount of trolling going on. I'd suggest sending the official Goozex rep on CAG a PM. Here is the LINK. He has helped me out in the past when I have had questions about the site.

Complete retro games are very uncommon (especially nes + snes + gb), and just because something is cheap on ebay doesn't mean it's common. Goozex has a much smaller community than ebay, so retro games are more common on ebay. You might find hundreds/thousands of a 360/PS3 game listed on ebay, then look at a retro game and only find 10-20 listed, and most being way too expensive. Goozex is no different than anywhere else.

Buying points is not profitable at all unless you buy them during a sale. Trading games for points is a much better value.

Also to any newer users, I don't recommend looking for answers from this thread, you're better off using the goozex forum, any question or concern you could possibly have has been addressed there without the apocalyptic attitude.

Yep, I do the same even if there's the possibility I may never own or want a certain game namely the newer more popular games I put it in my queue so there is no waiting or users skipping me later on.

I find complete retro stuff all the time, and this is an area that is a non-gaming community. I've picked up quite a bit of boxed SNES/Genesis items, and they're snatched up as soon as I list them. But I can't help but wonder if it's because they're actually trading for it, or because they just bought points on a sale. It's hardly doom and gloom when it's factual knowledge that when you go AGAINST the original business model, the company falls.

I'm glad there's a few of you who defend the site; it's a good concept that is slowly moving into poorly executed territory. I'm finding more items locally in a non-gaming community than I am on Goozex.. And that's kind of sad, because I'm sure the Goozex community is bigger than the handful of people around here who game.

The site just doesn't work when people are buying points to horde. You should have to put out or get out, as the Bundys say, and buying points is just an easy way out. They're shooting themselves in the foot, and I don't want to sit around and watch them bleed out.

i say goozex will be around for a long time.. there is really noone to complete with...

playswitch has now started charging a buck per trade (was free)

was hard enough to dump stuff over there when it was free now they expect people to pay

still got
28500 pts goozex (going to be close to 29000 this weekend once again)

playswitch
100 pts with nothing to grab

and for DS games dont even think about doing CART ONLY.. last 3 games i got CART ONLY were bootlegs
dont know of any other good trading sites

You so crazy! You've got me beat by about 10k.

Had some more drops this week, so I'm getting closer to Red Faction: Guerrilla, Dante's Inferno and Bayonetta. Red Dead Redemption is finally shipping, so that'll be 1000 off my account.

well that's the plan, i want to trade 360 games, and that tends to be the strongest area, but i'm really not happy with how slow it is, my mass effect 2 dropped to 900, when i listed it, it was 1000. though i really love the concept, for example, if i was to craigslist my mass effect 2, i think the best i could get is $25-$30, i'm looking for a gears of war 2, and the best i can find that used is $20, so really it's just about a 1-1 trade. but with goozex i'm getting gow2 plus some other crap later on. anyway i'd love to be involved however this hold idea i think sucks, the top priority should go to people who are ready to sell stuff not to guys who have been monitoring the value fluctuation. but i'll play the game, i'll add tons of games to my list, even games i'm thinking of acquiring long term.

and what's the deal with the goozex point that people are buying at cheap prices, where does that money go? isn't that just going to cause point inflation, this sounds like a really poor idea. goozex can just "print" as many points as they can sell and if the games dry up, then they will offer more points for a game to trade. which in turn make your points less valuable. speaking in the long term aren't all these games that are on hold really just imaginary stock anyway, most likely none of these games will ever be traded, i'd be worried if i had a ton of points.

i guess that's the "get out" crowd argument. well i'll give it a shot, but i won't be caught with a whole lot of points in my pocket, that's for sure.
and what's the deal with the goozex point that people are buying at cheap prices, where does that money go? isn't that just going to cause point inflation, this sounds like a really poor idea.
That's what a few of us have been saying since they started the regular sales on points.

You can't really cause inflation when the price is capped. But on the same hand, the price of cheaper games have gone up all across the board too.

But there are side effects of selling points for cheap and I touched on this quite awhile ago and others share the same thoughts.

It really ruins the supply of games, because less people are sending games to get points.

I don't know how some of you guys have so many points. I'm constantly trading games in and out, and other than AAA titles, I get all my games on Goozex, I rarely buy anymore. When new releases come out, if i'm even semi-interested, I add it to my queue and move up the line. When i'm finally ready to get the game because the price is right or it has peaked my interest, I activate it and receive it. As soon as I receive it and make sure it works, I add it to my available queue and put it on hold. When I'm done with the game, I ship it out, if I like it enough to make it a keeper it just sits there on hold.

I've really taken advantage of the website and have been able to get and play all the games I want with very little money spent. Just bought my own place and without goozex, I would rarely be able to afford new games to play.

I thought I had a ton of points with ~16900. You definitely beat me. I've been requesting mostly retro games, some DS games, a few PS2 and some PS1, but nothing current generation because I actually own most of the games I really want already. I think Goozex works best if users trade in items to get points and not just buy points to get games and movies. Hopefully, more users will actually be offering games soon. I have lots of requests, but very few are being fulfilled.
That's what a few of us have been saying since they started the regular sales on points.
For every 5000-point gift card that is purchased at half price, two purchases on the Goozex Exchange cancel it out.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if more people participated in the Goozex Exchange than the half-price gift card sale. If you're on Goozex to save money, spending hundreds of dollars on half-price points doesn't make a lick of sense. Meanwhile, the Goozex Exchange stock is eaten up in hours at times, which then spawns a whole bunch of people clamoring for it to be brought back.

At the tail end of the gift card sale, Goozex tried to hold a raffle for a new Xbox 360 slim model. Before the armchair lawyer showed up and got them to open the raffle to everyone, it was hardly a blip in the radar. Then, there was a huge influx of users who talked about it saying, "Thank goodness. I want the Slim, but there's no way I'm spending that much on points."

Of course, this is all theorizing, and I have no proof to show for it, but neither do the harbingers of doom in this thread, aside from anecdotal "MY QUEUES DON'T MOVE NOW. HEAD FOR THE HILLS."

how i got so many pts... probally about 70% of the points was earned years ago

Pick up a cheap 10 or 20 buck game that is worth 600 to 800 pts

Just pick up games that are 100 to 200 pts

Wait tiill that game you just traded in for 800 pts falls to 400 or less and grab it back

in about a year you will have 25,000 pts ... harder to do now though

I got hot shot tennis for 19 bucks for the psp traded for 800 pts ... picked up 8 100 ds games

Dump them on Ebay for 60 shipped

nice profit of 35 bucks (after trade credit fees)

If i ever get my game room back and pick up a ps3 or wii my 29k pts would be

It just has to arrive within 21 days. They could mail it after two weeks if they wanted to. As long as it arrives within the time frame and in good shape, you have to leave a positive.

Then Goozex needs to shorten that time frame considerably, like 10 days. There's no reason at all that a game can't be sent first class and received within 10 days of accepting the trade. I like Goozex but there are some glaring problems that would make it much more enjoyable and easier to use if they would be fixed. A while back they started alphabetizing games using "The" in game titles. It's common knowledge that "A", "An" and "The" are not used when alphabetizing. Who's going to go look for the Lord of the Rings under "T"? No one with a modicum of logic. Also, the change to merge on hold games with active games in the "have" and "request" lists was a terrible decision. I don't want to have to scroll through 5 pages to check the status on just 3-4 games that I have activated. 2 fairly recent decisions that have made the site noticeably more difficult to use and navigate. Whoever is making these decisions clearly has weak organizational skills.

It used to be 21 days, now it is 14 days within the same country and 21 days internationally.

I agree with the merger of the active and on hold list. But there is a little drop box somewhere in the top left of the list that you can select: games only, movies only, active only, on hold only, and I forget the fifth choice.

I found it, thanks. I still don't see why they removed the button for on hold and replaced it with a drop-down. I'd gladly deal with this feature the way it is now, though, if they would fix the alphabetizing mistake.

And then leave negative feedback for half of them...

Red Dead Redemption was "committed to ship by today" from a user who's been a member since March, 2009, but has 0 trades to date. I'm a bit concerned, since the user hasn't responded to my request about shipping/tracking information.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid...

If you receive no response, just leave negative feedback for game not receive. I think it's the 10th day after commiting to ship. Remember to not re-add the game into your queue, it should be automatically added after 2-3 days pending the negative feedback (unless they dispute it, which will be a few days longer).

157 trades with no negatives. Thank you for asking.

And on the whopping two occasions that I had to leave a negative, I handled it like a human being; not a gorilla commenting "I WANT MY POINTS RAWR" and hoping for the best.
