Current Deal(s):

*PLEASE NOTE*
These deals will not work in Hollywood Video stores that have a "Gamecrazy" or "Movie Gallery" in them most of the time. 99% of the time, only standalone Hollywood Video stores or those with a "Gamezone" will run the deals. YMMV. Most of the time, Hollywood Video stores either alone, or with a "Gamezone". NOT Gamecrazy or Movie Gallery.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

None!

Multiplatform:

None!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Xbox Live 12+1 Month Gold Cards - $39.99:

{Serious YMMV though, as not every Hollywood Video carries these Xbox Live cards, and not every store will have the same amount of stock. Not every store will have many, if they have any.}
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Copies of Madden NFL 10 - $39.99:

{Again, serious, serious, serious YMMV deal as this is not an official Hollywood Video deal and the odds of you scoring such a great steal are slim to none. Nevertheless, a solid deal if you can find it.}
I did ok. Wish there were more standalone HWVs. Got there about 10 min. before it opened and was the only one there. Another CAG showed up a few minutes before 10 and jumped in before me but it was civil. My haul, mostly Wii since the other CAG grabbed mostly PS3/360 stuff:

Boom Blocks I & II
deBlob
WarioWare SM
WarioLand
Tales of Symphonia

Heavenly Sword PS3

I really only went there for Heavenly Sword and whatever I picked up was a bonus. I had scoped out the store earlier in the week but didn't take much notes so I probably missed some better GS flip opportunities.

They ended up really cheap since I used pipemania credit to buy these. I'll keep some of the Wii games and Heavenly Sword, flip the rest to GS.
and that was me...good to see you actually got something you liked...I felt really bad taking almost all the 360 stuff. I dont have a wii, so at least you got the ones you wanted there. Its always good chatting with a fellow CAG.

Also today Star Ocean and Modern Warfare were ringing up 34.99, so no dice.

Thanks for posting this deal. I was a bit down because I missed most other deals, then I saw this one and decided to go to my HV and check.

When I got there I was a bit dissapointed because of their small selection. I did find the Conduit and Mario Tennis for GC, but there really wasn't anything else I wanted. They had an 80% off bin, where I found Castlevania Curse of Darkness as I figured why not. I left behind SFIV and DMC3 though for the next collector.

I went to pay and the cashier mentioned they had a few other games behind the counter that hadn't been put up. I grabbed Boom Blox 2, Mario Tennis for Wii, and Sonic The Hedgehog for the 360. They probably had some other games there worth getting, but I didn't really want any of them.

So thanks CAG, looks like I managed to grab this before a hoarder got there.

Went to 2 more stores today. I guess I should say I went to 2 empty store fronts. It is sad that HWV is struggling so much. One of the stores closed just a couple of days ago. Wouldn't it have been a good idea to at least try and make it to this weekend to wait and see? or at least to see in you could make a little money, because it would seem as though they are still paying rent for the space. I am going to be sad when HWV is gone, but this has to be one of the worst run companies in America.

mine was pretty picked clean yesterday.

but i did manage to nab

360
====
Saints Row 2
Mercenaries 2
Star Wars: Force Unleashed
Street Fighter IV
Destroy All Humans

(kind of regret not getting Def Jam Icon / Legendary)
was hoping for RE5/Halo Wars/Prototype

Ran up to the one in Brookpark, Oh on Snow road and walked out with RE5 (PS3) for $5. They had a few other games that were 'meh' still left, but when I was checking out the clerk was telling me that people were walking out with stacks of them yesterday. Oh well

Wow! Just walked out of HWV in Provo, UT with:

Ninja Gaiden II
Fear 2
Devil May Cry 4
Silent Hill HC
Guitar Hero WT
Simpsons Game
RE Umbrella Chronicles and de Blob

They still had multiples of all of those titles. XBOX 360 titles are all stacked behind the counter.

Hey noob, yeah, I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't the only one but oh well. Glad you got some stuff too.

See ya around.

There's been some talk of Little Big Planet here but I haven't seen anyone confirmed getting it. Has anyone tried checking the price on it to see if it qualifies?

Picked up Street Fighter IV and 50 Cent Blood on the Sand today. Really wanted SFIV, don't really want 50 Cent. I'm going to check out a few more tonight.

Be sure to play 50 cent before you say you don't want it. It's a solid shooter, and a lot of fun if you play coop with someone.

The thing is, I don't even know when I'd play it. Between picking up games this weekend that I wanna beat soon before the sequels come out (or before I get the sequels - AC, Bioshock and Mass Effect), plus NBA 2k10, COD: MW and L4D2, I basically picked it up because I knew some people here were asking for it so I figured I could trade or flip it no problem.

The property management company changed the locks to the one in downtown indy. I hope that noone is being charged late fees for the movies that they rented.

went to 3 hollywood videos, one of them was shut down, one did have fuck all, i picked up saints row 2 at the other, i checked the disc and it is in great shape so i was pleasantly surprised., then i got home and found it was for the ps3(i have a 360) so meh.

and YES that would be awesome to get fallout for 5 bucks, but it is 20 dollars a lot of places, will be 15 used, and then can get it cheaper with coupons and whatnot,a nd then just pick up the expansion. both of the stores had fallout 3 for both systems, rings up at 35.

my damn local MG isnt doing this damn sale.

Halo Wars is marked at 29.99 and RE5 is marked at 34.99.

I did see a couple of games I would pick up though.

Maybe they are just late...they are running the 3 for 15 deal.

Since I was up all last night helping my one buddies' sister hold a spot in line at Best Buy to get one of the HP laptops for one of her kids I fell asleep when I got home this morning and didn't get up till 4-5 pm. So my local HWV stores have probably already been plundered of anything good. Not that I needed or wanted anything from this sale anyway, unless they were to suddenly have used copies of Brutal Legend for PS3 that qualify for the sale.

Went to one HWV on Thanksgiving and picked up:

Ghostbusters PS3
Call of Juarez 360
Mass Effect 360
Tom Clancy's Endwar 360
Zelda Twilight Princess Wii (x2)

There wasn't much there to begin with and the guy there said I was one of the first to take advantage of the deal.

Went to another one the next day and picked up:

Street Fighter IV 360
Gears of War 2 360

Halo Wars, Skate 2 and Sacred 2 all scanned for 34.99 sadly.

Would've checked out other stores in the area but gf was in town, so instead of going other places, fight people over at Michael's.

that list on the front page is wrong, agreed. there is no way punch out is under 30 bucks already. a lot of their games are overpriced if not for these sales.

The last time the sale happened, I saw punch out for 24.99. Didn't bother grabbing it because that game seems like too much work. So maybe it's just YMMV?

More pickups today
:psp: MoH: Heroes
:ds: Touch The Dead

:ps3:
Baja: Edge of Control
Godfather 2
GH:WT
R&C Future: Tools of Destruction
Saints Row 2
SCIV
:wii:
Fishing Master
GH:WT
:360:
Battle for the Pacific
Blazing Angels: Secret Missions of WWII
DMC4
Incredible Hulk
LOTR Conquest
Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise
:gc:
Animal Crossing
LoZ: TP
Are these new games or used?
The sale is supposed to be for used games only, but someone reported that the coupon code or whatever the clerk enters will apply to new games too, though the employees should know not to do this.

Had a moderate haul, no Prototype or Halo Wars high end stuff, but I did find a GC Phantasy Star I & II CIB (see ya on ebay), Wii Umbrella chronicles, 360 Rock band 2, PS3 GTA IV, PS2 PTO IV and various fillers for the Gamestop trade promo etc.

So apparently all of the HWV in MA have closed....major news to me. I've been able to get in on the last few promos, including the last one which was, I believe, a couple months ago? Sucks that all of a sudden they are all gone now. Anyone in MA know what happened? Tried to go to Saugus and Medford today and both were out of business. I looked up HWV's via the store locator and none are coming up at all...only Game Crazys' and the closest ones are in RI. I know there used to be stores in Quincy, Whitman, Chelmsford, Needham Auburn, Worcester, etc. Are those closed as well or are they just not showing up on the site for whatever reason?

Other people have said that the store locator showed none of their HWV stores either, so it must be a glitch in their online store locator.

Please do not trust the store locator. I live in Lowell and I just came from the HWV in Chelmsford. When I use the locator, it gives me the HWV/GC in Woonsocket, RI. I'd just google HWV and type Massachusetts and give the stores a call. Many are indeed open and just not showing on the map.

Anyone having luck at any stores in Missouri? The only one I've seen anything decent is the Mexico, MO store. They had a ton of PS3 games, and I grabbed the aforementioned 360 SF4 and 50 Cent

Ah, ok. That's good to hear. I got worried when I actually went to the closed down Saugus and Medford stores tonight and then came home to find that nothing would show up on the map.

They did this at our store end of august..."didn't pay rent for the month"...but HWV cleared the mess up (took 2 weeks) and we opened back up. of course...no-one was charged late fees. ;)
that list on the front page is wrong, agreed. there is no way punch out is under 30 bucks already. a lot of their games are overpriced if not for these sales.
The list is ymmv...but it should be extremely close to correct. I went through our store computer looking for anything under $30 that qualifies. SSBB was listed used as $24.99 at my store...wish we would have had a copy.

Anyway...I'm glad everyone got some good hauls. I was able to get X360-Street Fighter IV, Halo 3, Shaun White Snowboarding, Far Cry 2, and DS-GTA Chinatown Wars.
...so wish we had done any sort of rental game drops for this sale. ...but hopefully they will do this one once more for the christmas season...and before my store closes. ;)

does anyone want 50 Cent Blood in the Sand? Just curious if anyone was looking for it but couldn't find it in store. If so let me know and let me know what you find from this deal, I've got a handful of games I'm looking for.

Well, I hate to break it to you, but you probably wouldn't have found much today anyway - the sale started THURSDAY!
I looked up HWV's via the store locator and none are coming up at all...only Game Crazys'
Yeah, I mentioned this earlier. It is highly annoying because I'm trying to find non-GC stores and all I get is a big list of Gamecrazy's. I ended up looking up a few I knew the rough locations for via google and calling them only to find their numbers disconnected. When I finally did get a hold of another non-GC HWV that answered their phone, they told me both of the others had closed. The first had slow sales, and the second was doing fine but their computer system went on the fritz and they had to do all transactions manually. After a few weeks they decided this wasn't working and closed the store. This is what the clerk at the third store told me, anyway. It sucks because I got good stuff at both of those stores during the last sale. And another I found out was closed when I went to it on Thursday. So they didn't close many GC stores around here (like 1 or 2 out of 20) but they seem to have shuttered a lot of regular HWV stores. I'm not sure where else I can even try to hit up now. My local store was supposed to get more games in today but I was away and never made it in - I'll check tomorrow.

I revisited one of the stores I did well at yesterday and they had about 10 copies of 50 Cent for the 360. That's the only game I've seen in any quantity anywhere (everything else was 1's or 2's at each store).

Anyway, since I went to GC and pulled most of my credit out of there so I didn't have to resort to cash like I did yesterday, I picked up a few games I was iffy about then: Zenses Rainforest and Kuropoto Cool Cool Stars for the DS. For $10 of cheaply-obtained GC credit I figured why not (both were complete, too).

Picked up some more today, a few of the notables are -

DS -

New Super Mario Bros
GTA Chinatown
Pokemon Platinum

360 -

Fight Night Round 4
Halo Wars

PS3 -

Uncharted

Selection wasn't so awesome but I ended up with this stuff.

PS3
Afro Samurai

XBOX 360
Street Fighter IV
Army of Two
Wheelman
Fracture
Midnight Club: LA
Gears of War
Wanted:Weapons of Fate

I got this stuff at around 9 pm so I'm guessing basically no one in my area knew about the sale. Probably gonna trade most of the games in.

Found an untouched store (or a badass store that was so chock full of stuff that it appeared to be untouched) Grabbed a Halo Wars, Fable II, Need for Speed Undercover, Ghost Recon II, Street Fighter IV, and Guitar Hero 5 for PS2 along with others I am not remembering. Thank you Hollywood Video for saving Black Friday.
yeah, i think monday is when it'll end.
the two HWVs I went to both said the sale was for two days only. i'm hoping it lasts longer though

I am pretty sure the signs in the stores say through the 29th. That would be Sunday as the last day, so get out there this weekend and clear those stores out.
I am pretty sure the signs in the stores say through the 29th. That would be Sunday as the last day, so get out there this weekend and clear those stores out.
Good to know - Sunday at least gives me one more day than I thought I had.

The problem is with that crappy store locator bug I can't find the non-GC HWV's :bomb:
I know there are some more hidden around but they are hard to find otherwise.
HWV saved BF this year. Everything else was crap
I got some moderate deals from Amazon (DA:O for $35, Batman AA for $20 after Discover card promo, ToS Dawn for $9.98, a few more) but yeah, this sale kicked ass over most of the BF stuff for a number of reasons. Well, for one, it started Thursday and wasn't heaviliy advertized so if you could find a store with the deal you could do well. As I said before at my local store they told people in advance and they had a line there Thursday morning so that was kind of a bust. Luckily I got bailed out much later in the day by two stores where they didn't know about the deal till the last minute so they weren't picked over except by the employees.

But even running to a few HWV stores on Thanksgiving and dealing with moderate disappointment here and there was WAY better than anything I could have done at midnight or 1am or 3am or 5am on BF - I slept in this morning, it was nice ;).

Visiting family friends in Orange County so not familiar with the HMVs here. Went to 2 that according to Google Maps were suppose to be here. Neither were here (1 didn't seem to be existent, the other seems to have closed recently as selves and a few things like signs were there, but no inventory). May attempt to try another one or 2 tomorrow, but doubtful we will. Oh well.
