[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them (and they don't have restickered UPCs - see point 3 below) they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: http://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way). What we are currently missing is a good list of accessories. I have added a few that I know about. We need more info on these (and there must be more to uncover).

In general, I'm sticking with ShiningSlade's method of listing games. However, there are a few changes. Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Stopped by two K-Mart stores in my area this evening:

K-Mart #1 - They had a bunch of the clearance games mentioned above by other CAGs. I was hoping to find another copy of Superman Returns but no go. io, I saw about 3 Copies of LOTR II stickered $19. I took it to the register when I made my purchase and it rang up full price as did the other items I picked out. The guy in electronics (nice guy but kinda dumb) told me I had to go to customer service to get the prices overridden.

I went to the CS desk and bought or checked on the following:
Ultimate Ghosts n Goblins $4.90
WARIOWARE: TOUCHED $16.10 (FINALLY FOUND A COPY OF THIS GAME!)
PSP 2200mAh extended life Phat battery $34.99 (DID NOT BUY)
LOTR: II $13.90 (DID NOT BUY)

The people at the CS desk were clueless about the sale even though the guy at the electronics counter told me about it and they had little 30% off signs hanging off the clearance game shelf. Took me about 15 minutes but the manager finally overrode the game prices and gave me the 30% off. He looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked for the 30% off.

K-Mart #2:
The manager that ran the electronics area was extremely nice. He told me if I had any problems getting the 30% off the clearance games to let me know and let me look in the glass case without an issue. I picked up (2) of the PSP Phat 2200 mAh extended life batteries for $14.00 each.

Sometimes a game doesn't get marked down at a store. KMart clearance is somewhat YMMV. You can either wait or buy it and take it to another K and see if they'll adjust the price for you. If they won't you can return and rebuy.

Went to TRU later and it they had it for $35! Anyone want to help me out and tell me how you guys are getting this thing for $14? I tried reading through the last few pages but there's too much!!

YMMV, not all Kmart have the same stuff on clearance.
 
My Kmart should have EVERYTHING on clearance. I mean, seriously, that thing is like a video game museum. I'm going to get a copy of this list and go back tomorrow (I go there once every few months when I can must up the energy) and try and get some gold...

Yep. I had the same problem visiting two K-Marts within 5 miles of each other. One had the batteries on "clearance" for $34.99 (would've been about $24 after 30% additional savings) and the second store had them on clearance for $20 but they rang up $14 after the 30% off.
 
I've gotten everything from this clearance except for Hotel Dusk and this 32.XX LCD TV someone off of Slickdeals got. I bought virtually every cheap 360 title (with the exception of true crap like Superman that even I couldn't buy, even with being blessed with having a Kmart doing the giftcard deal)

There's more to it than that though. Some of the games are coming up full MSRP even after being the clearance price at a given store. For example, LOTR:BfME II was $19 (or $13.30 after discount) at this one store last week when I bought a copy. Then I went back a few days ago and there was another still there so I figured I'd snag it for trading and it came up $29.99. So the games were already marked down, but this one went back up. That has happened to many people. It may eventually go back down again when there is another adjustment but I don't know why it went off the clearance price to begin with.
 
Yeah, I got thwarted at a Phoenix store. For some reason they were doing 50% off of clearance (which stacked nicely with my gift cards I got for 20% off) but Children of Mana rang up full price and they ripped the sticker off without much chance of me to argue.

I guess I should've paid more attention to this thread, but what size/model # LCD was on clearance for $32? I know today is the last day for the second week of the clearance, so hopefully, someone has an idea as to what model # at least it is.

At that point, you should ask to speak to a manager -- I'd do that if something rang incorrectly and the employee tried to "destroy the evidence."

But as I mentioned in my earlier post, if something isn't coming up correctly, asking a manager, "Can you please check to see if its updated in your system? A friend of mine was at another K-Mart store, and he showed me on his reciept that it was supposed to be marked down to something ridiculous." can be quite effective.

When I was in Florida earlier this week, there were several clearance titles not ringing up as they should. Tales of Legendia was ringing up for $49.99, as was Romancing Saga. There were a few 360 titles doing the same thing as well.
 
Not every store gets the same prices. If they don't ring up the clearance price, then you're shit out of luck, easy as that. Not all of them are universal, and I know this for a fact.

No, they are universal but the system is very glitchy and there is some sort of error that occurs and makes them go back to MSRP. A Kmart employee once explained it if anyone cares to look through the old threads and find the exact explanation ;).

Other than that, differences in prices can occur because some stores are slow to implement the drops (so you may see a game at $15 at one but $7 at another). But in terms of what is on clearance it should be universal if not for the glitches.

It was a Sylvania 20" LCD, model# SSLC2006 I think. Google 'Sylvania 20" LCD 2006' to find the exact model.

I didn't know of this one until this morning, nor have I seen one in stores
 
sooo... my kmart is usally about on track with the clearance prices, maybe a little behind on some games. well, i go in today to pick up some more games, and tomb raider legends for 360 scanned 2.10!! crazy huh?
 
This 30% off clearance items, can someone please explain it to me? Do I need a coupon or is this something automatic?

And in terms of the extended PSP battery, if it is supposed to be a universal price drop, how can I get them to charge me the correct amount of $14 for it instead of $40?

You don't need to have a coupon. It's something that K-Mart is doing in stores some (like my stores) will have a sign hanging on the shelf, others won't but the games will ring up -30% at the register. Other stores will have the signs up but when the clearance games are scanned they'll ring up full price and the employees assume they're mismarked, remove the stickers, and deny the sale.

It's all very YMMV. The pricing on the batteries is very YMMV as well. Check my post a little ways back. I checked out 2 K-Marts within 5 miles of each other. One had the batteries on "Clearance" for $34.99 and the other had them on clearance for $20 (both stores knocked off 30% so the final prices were $24 & $14).
 
Ugh, then it's a lost cause for me. The game section is such a waste for this store, there are like 4-6 employees working in this place max (usually takes me a half hour to find someone to open the game cabinet) and they even I probably have a better idea how to run their computers than they do.

I guess I could go back and ask them to see if the price has been updated or what?

Go to the link on the first page of this thread and print out the UPC barcodes. Take those barcodes to a price scanner in your kmart and scan them yourself to check. Most kmart employees will be asshats and tell you the game is priced as marked and point to the 59.99 tag without scanning it when it'd actually be 4.90

Most employees won't have any idea what sales are going on much less about price reductions. That's all the store manager's job and he/she's not going to be there on a weekend night.

On a side note, while I was looking through the games someone came up to me and asked me to tech support his 360. I guess they only have a core system and aren't connected to the internet and when they try to play Halo 3 it tells them they need to upgrade the software. Are required firmware upgrades not on the disc anymore? I told them to call MS and they can send them an upgrade disc.

I once bought an item that had been manually marked up to 49.99 by an employee. Manager caught it and gave it to me for 19.99 since he knew it wasn't 49.99. He said a certain employee did that occasionally when she thought an item was the wrong price.

So here's the deal...every Kmart is SUPPOSED to be universal but they have glitches that create every store to potentially have different prices. Dude, that confirms what the other guy was saying about the Kmarts not having the same prices. Supposed to, what if's and hows mean nothing if they don't have the same price at every Kmart.

Ive been to about six in my area and every darn place has different prices. Its quite the headache! I need a nap...and I might stop at another one on my way to my parents house today :D

Also I've worked at quite a few retail joints and the fact that you have to have actual people physically go through and adjust price labels on the product makes any clearance section shitty. Especially if they're lazy and rude...like these Chicago ghetto KMarts!

Yes, it was definately a surprise. I didn't see it the 2-3 times I was there before. Either it was in the back or buried somewhere and they finally pulled it out.
 
I did a return and rebuy of the games I bought at Kmart to see if I could get the 10% off friends and family coupon to work. It only worked on the normal price Shadow of the Colossus that I bought ($19.99 before the coupon, non-Greatest Hits version) because the others were "in-store specials" from the 30% off clearance, I guess, which were excluded from the coupon.

Anyway, I ended up getting Rogue Galaxy and Disgaea 2 for $7.00 and $8.40, respectively, when they did the rebuy, which is a lot better than the $10 and $12 that I bought them for over a month ago. So even though they didn't take 10% off those (and the copy of Viewtiful Joe I had), I'm glad I got those two games for cheaper.
