[SIZE=+1]Three important notes[/SIZE] (please read these before posting questions):

[SIZE=+1]1)[/SIZE] Most of the prices listed below will not be shown on the games at any given Kmart. Chances are if you can find them they will ring up at one of the clearance prices listed. The best way to check it is to bring a UPC sheet with you and use the floor scanners to verify the pricing before you ask the Kmart associate to open the case.

[SIZE=+1]2)[/SIZE] Kmart price drops are generally national in scope. However, each store must process the price drops individually. While the price drops originate from corporate, different stores have wildly different ways of dealing with them. Some will implement them immediately, some weeks later, and some, it seems, never. Also, there are occasional glitches in the pricing where a game that is otherwise on clearance will ring up at full price at certain stores.

OK, on to the prices...

The wonderful thing about Kmart is that they combine dirt-cheap clearance pricing with a general lack of organization. Thus CAGs in the know, hopefully using info from this thread, can find some amazing deals.

First off, here's the UPC database list as created by Slash and updated by MightySlacker: chttp://kmart.slashbunny.com/. Use this to verify pricing in your local Kmart.

The prices are organized alphabetically and by system (thanks again to ShiningSlade for starting it off this way).

Since the exact pricing is so YMMV, and many games ring up at 2 or 3 different clearance prices I will list all of these separated by slashes, with the cheapest first. For example: Psychonauts $3/$14/$24. I am also adding a bit to the color coding - see below:

Maybe....think K-mart is the worst store for video games.... You can't even now which is the price of games, if there's a " sale" of the week (if you don't have the add...) if the game you want is available.... most stores hide all the old games in a window.... why?

But thanks to CAG, I know which game can get for less..
 
There's not a lot of selection at my Kmarts...there's quite a few copies of Final Fantasy VI Advance around, though. $10. Bought three for myself, one to keep and two to resell. If you live in the Fort Wayne, IN area, the one on S. Anthony has two copies left.

There's various $20 titles for both 360 and PS3. Mirror's Edge, Brutal Legend, Prince of Persia, etc. I think a lot of those are $20 everywhere though.
 
Apparently, one of the Kmarts around here doesn't care to make any money. The one girl working electronics just kinda blew me off when I kept looking for her to open up the one case for me to get the Zelda: TP for GC that was sitting in the case marked $14.97 and one of these LCD cleaning kits that comes with a 6 port surge protector strip for $5.

Oh well.

For what it's worth, the poster isn't really that interesting (it's basically the front cover image, non-metallic and blown up larger so that you can see the lack of detail), and all of the creases in it from it being folded up to fit in the case would make it pretty much unusable as a display poster anyway if that's what you intend to do with it. Personally, I wouldn't worry about it that much.

Game packaged "posters" are always garbage. Terribly creased and barely poster sized to begin with.

I have my Fallout 3 poster put up on the hutch part of my computer desk. It was part of the preorder @ Gamestop along w/ the soundtrack. Yeah it's creased semi wrinkled, but I think the poster looks awesome. However if it were any other game, yeah I agree w/ you about it not looking that great.
 
The store in Woodstock, IL. is going out of business. All their games were 20% off with a bunch of solid titles including new releases like ME2.

Be very careful. What happens is a liquidator comes in and marks eveyrthing up to full MSRP. Then they do the 20% off / 30% off / 50%... etc

Don't get suckered into a deal like Ghostbusters at 50% off the ORIGINAL MSRP. And don't ask the employees when the next drop is. They have no idea.

Also, the final day, they will usually sell everything that's left at 90% off so get there early.

When a Kmart near me closed they actually kept the clearance prices just no further clearance drops. Like when Micro Machines DS was normally $19.99 it was $9.99 at the store but by then it was down to $4.99 at a non closing store. With 50% off it worked out to the same $4.99
 
Yeah the kmart's near me that closed a while ago kept the clearance prices too for electronics and toys at least, I cannot comment on clothing. These stores don't follow the regular kmart drops though so if something drops a lot in the kmart system you are out of luck. It seems like the prices are locked in after the liquidator hits, so if something is already on clearance you will get the liquidator discount on top of the clearance price.

Another thing is I have never seen a liquidation sale go to more than 75% off in my area for the whole store, even on the last day just before closing. They usually have a very tiny table of 90% off stuff, the rest is 75% off and nothing there is usually worth buying even at that price.

I just went to a store today and pretty much all the clearance clothing was $4.99 this includes the men's department and the hoodies, which there were still plenty left of. These were previously ringing up at much higher prices. Even though the racks in the women's department said 5.99 everything was pretty much 4.99.
 
It's interesting how growing up Kmart was the go to store before Walmart came along. It's like once Walmart came along, Kmart stores got stuck in a time warp.

Thing is, I hope Kmart is able to hold on and not be mismanaged into oblivion, since between them and Sears I find 90-95% of my clearance deals. If not for them, I might as well give up being on CAG, since Target sucks in my area for clearance prices and WalMart doesn't like discounting shit(as is apparent in the highly YMMV Walmart clearance thread).

Unfortunately, since the merger of Sears and Kmart, if one fails then they probably will BOTH fail.:cry:

Same here, not to mention providing me with a very cheap wardrobe, the clothing prices elsewhere are too much and no one else has untouched clothing departments even on clearance like Kmart and Sears with plenty of sizes left. Yes even the second hand stores sans yard sales cost way too much for what your getting compared to the prices at Kmart and Sears. Try going to another store with a similar clearance and you will be lucky to find a few pieces of clothing left.

I have been watching a couple items at Target recently and they just refuse to mark them down any further so I am giving up and the price is not low enough to purchase them. I think everything from my Target is either getting bought up before it reaches the lowest price or they are just removing it from the store before that happens, because I haven't found a decent deal on games or toys for at least a year or 2 in target.

Walmart clearances by department and there version of clearance seems to be charge more than what other stores will because its walmart and if its on clearance people will automatically think its a good deal. You can get items sitting at $50 on clearance for years with Walmart when the same item is selling for pennies on ebay... with no price changes in sight.

The good thing here is that people are still buying appliances, craftsman tools and televisions at Sears because here the nearest best buy is 45 min away and basically no where else to get appliances and some people don't like the tiny local stores. I assume appliances, tools and TV's are the bread and butter of their business here. Some people won't go an hour out of their way to buy a washer especially if they are carting it home. Personally I would never buy an appliance at Sears because they suck for that but a lot of people still buy from them. Like it or not they still seem like they are a major player in the large appliances departments. There Children's clothing department still gets quite a bit of traffic but the other clothing departments not so much.

If your looking for clothing basics its a good store to go to IMO, but a lot of their women's clothing is ugly and isn't even worth buying on clearance. You just have to pick the basics from amongst the uglyness. They have teen clothing, but most teens are already shopping at their favorite brand stores by the time they get to that stage, so their teen clothing cannot hold up in the market at all. However if you need work wear you will also find that the store is not full of trendy teen clothing that isn't designed for work wear so that may be a plus for some people.

I don't see Sears going down anytime soon though, if they started downsizing their lines (like removing the games department or dropping Land's End) and the store started to appear empty then I would start to worry. Kmart is another story though...their stores and inventory are in much worse shape than Sears stores and I can genuinely say that at times there are hardly any people in Kmart, while Sears seems to be more populated with customers. Kmart stores feel dirty, look dirty and look like 1970's-80's designs. All of the Sears stores I have been to here are clean and look well off and modern.

What really kind of sucks about K-Mart compared to Wal-Mart is that they really are competitively priced it's just now that most of America accepts that Wal-Mart has the cheapest prices even when on alot of items there markup is considerably higher. Only real way to save money at Wal-Mart now is to bring your ads from other stores and have them match the price.

As far as Wal-Mart's game prices are concerned, they hold on to everything and not much ever really makes it to a good price. When I do got to Wal-Mart I always go to the video game section and find myself scratching my head as to why I'm actually looking when I know I'm NEVER gonna find any decent prices.
 
Kmart is really overpriced here compared with Target and Walmart on general merchandise. On some food items and essentials they will be $2-$5 higher than the other stores. Pretty much the only reason to buy stuff there is when its in the ad or on clearance, if your buying regular priced stuff there you are paying too much. It was really cool when they had Martha Stewart stuff because we would buy quilts there for like $20 and it was good quality stuff that lasted for years but they don't have Martha Stewart anymore.

The prices could be regional though, its very possible for another area to have a Kmart that is reasonably priced and a Walmart that is much higher priced.
 
piece of crap.... just got back from KMART they had fable 2 limited edition scanned for fucken 69.99 .. TOS 29.99 i gave up but the local one has a crap load of old game that from like 2006/2007 scanning at full retail

I hate the impossibility of finding "deals" at Wal Mart and Target as well, but I have to say - whoever thinks KMart is "cheaper" is living in a different part of the country than I am. From my vantage point, KMart's pricing on anything NOT on clearance is amusingly high. I remember when Wii first came out they broke MSRP on some of the accessories.

I will also bemoan the inevitable demise of KMart (we all know it's coming) and even Sears because of the clearance deals, but in a lot of ways they're bringing it on themselves. They just seem to be holding onto the past.

Their commercial tag amuses me as well. "There's Smart, and then there's K-Mart Smart".

So. Painfully. Ironically. Obliviously. Truthful.
 
I agree, their pricing on regular items are very high like food items. It's not cheaper than a supermarket like Walmart and Target are. It's crazy how at 2 am my local Walmart has more shoppers than KMart does in the middle of the day.
 
Been trying to snag a 9.97 copy of Star Ocean after finding Last Remnant for the same price a few days ago, but no luck.

I did happen to find one lone copy of Twilight Princess for GC for the 9.97 tag that others have found and grabbed it though. The dude getting it out of the case told me he might not be able to sell it due to it being too old and no longer in the system. He then scanned it and stood staring for a few seconds before ringing me up with a dirty look, heh.

Still would like to find Star Ocean, but satisfied with my two deals.

Not every old game has gone on clearance. There are some games that are still MSRP while other stores have clearanced them out long ago. You should really check out the prior Kmart clearance threads to see what has clearanced and what hasn't.

Although, some of the games from those threads may have been manually marked back up to MSRP in the system after they pennied out(dropped out of the system), which means that unless they re-clearance them those games will be that price forever.

Thing is, it's probably the attitude of some of the employees bringing on the demise of the stores too. When it takes you 25-30 minutes to get one clerk to pry themselves away from whatever they're doing(in the case of Sears, bsing in the corner with other employees), you get a bit annoyed and disheartened and just feel like going somewhere else for a deal.

If that happens to the ordinary shnook shoppers, I imagine many of them won't come back.
 
I just hate going to K-mart because the cashiers are the slowest ever. The only thing I buy there is hand soap, body wash, shampoo and other stuff like that because K-mart's the only place that has larger containers of the stuff. Most of the grocery stores around me have the smaller bottles of toiletries, and I hate shopping, so I try to get the biggest bottles I can find. But I avoid going to K-mart in general because it's such a hassle to check out (always a line and always some loser in front of me that picked up something that has no bar code).

Sears is really bad off too; I don't have anything particularly wrong with Sears, but they don't have a lot of stuff I want either (I get most of my tools from Home Depot or Lowes). Most of the malls around me are closing down and Sears is the last remaining anchor store in the place--it's pretty sad.
 
is the 12 month box set with the points card pgr4 and text kit actually 70 bucks or is it the clearance one? i found it at one and the cashier didnt want to scan it

I saw like 7 copies of Viva Pinata for 360 @ another Kmart I checked out today. No clearance or decent prices thought. They rang up $19.96.
 
Just got Pikmin for the Wii at K-mart for $10 not bad since I have never played it and have heard good things about it.

I wasn't looking for it because I already have it (got it when it was $4.99 at Best Buy a couple of months ago), but I can tell you that I've been to several Sears stores around here and haven't seen a copy of it in any of them. So if I *was* looking for it, and I wanted it badly enough, I'd say $10 was a pretty decent deal. Good for those people who have found better, but you take what you can get.

I stopped by a Kmart and noticed that the staff have updated the section and put the 19.99 games on some shelves. Nothing special but I did run into some older gentlemen who was at the other end of the aisle, getting ready to look at the games behind the glass doors when he whipped out this crumpled receipt and as soon as he saw me he jumped back and left the aisle. Whenever I walked by an aisle that he was in, he was very quick to run out of that aisle. Made me wonder if he was a hoarder or something.

I was actually going to offer the man some tips on games that I saw at Sears but his reaction changed my mind. Oh well.

I agree, I think $10 is a reasonable price for pikmin. I havn't seen this game at sears for 2 months and I wanted to grab one when it was $5.
 
I just stopped by my kmart, Dickinson, ND, and they had a lot of games priced down. I wanted Smackdown vs RAW for the 360 and it was marked at 14.95. Checked out and was only 10. I wish they would have the correct prices on the games. I would possibly pick up more if I knew the actual prices. They had X Blades for 14.95, Riddick for 19.99 and others. Madworld for the Wii was not marked and the biggest shock was House of the Dead Wii for 50. What's up with that?
 
I don't want to sound a false alarm or anything but I checked the price of Bourne Conspiracy :ps3: and it was $4.97. It was $9.97 last month so maybe the drops happened today.

From what I've seen from even before I joined CAG, it seems like they do markdowns mid month most times at Kmart, so that seems about right as far as timeframe goes.

They used to mark the date stuff was stickered on the top of the price stickers if I remember correctly and most times the date range was from the 13th to the 17th at the latest.

I may have to check a further off Kmart for a couple games later this week.
 
I hope all the $9.97 stuff is now $4.97. There is some stuff I wouldn't mind picking up at that price like MLB 09 The Show for PSP. I'll probably check tomorrow or Tuesday because my local KMart is always slow to update prices. I just hope no one is in electronics so I can take games out of the electronics area to the price checker. I have probably the only KMart in the country that has someone in electronics 75%+ of the time probably because they are worried about theft. Just like how the Sears enclosed their entire electronics area with glass walls and only 1 way in and out with those security senors you walk through.

Nope. My closest one has someone in electronics almost all of the time. One time a guy freaked out on me just because I went to take a game to the price checker to scan it.
