I still have not been able to play konicki465 . I have pm'ed him a couple of times and he said he would be able to play but nothing would come out of it.

Man oh man, the end of the first game was great. Did you see that goal to tie it at the end go in a split second after time expired? ;)
 
Damnit daroga, I'm so sorry about that lost connection. There must be a storm around here or something, because the power went out for like two seconds and came right back, but it's not even raining. Ugh. We have to do another matchup, but I don't want to now in case that happens again.

The end of the first was insane. I was shocked your goal didn't count, I think that's as close as it gets.

Sorry again, I hope we can play again later. :)
 
Yeah, they were great games. My wife looked at me like I was retarded when that first game ended. A cry went out that wasn't quite normal from me ;)
 
Good game Groucho. You're the first person I've seen online use daisy. Shes my main too. Half the game i was looking at your hammerbro trying to pass to him.
 
Those were clsoe games. The second one should've been yours, too. My goal with dry bones was cheap, and I actually didn't even mean to shoot with him... then your chomp sabotaged you while you were megastriking.

It was really just luck, because we were both lobbing to our heavy hitters, but yours didn't go in and mine did. Good games. Love to play ya again sometime.

Seriously, each one went down to the wire except the first one of the second series (where you dominated 5-2 :lol:). Definitely close games. I got that last goal of game 2 in just in time. So nerve racking.
 
Do you get anything for beating all the challenges? I'm wondering if it is worth a lot of very frustrating time to beat them all ;). I'll probably make another run at the Crystal Cup again tonight. I can't believe I was so close and blew it out of impatience... Grrr... Maybe I should add a Dry Bones to my team for those cheap-ass dekes. But then I'd have to play the Fire Cup again too :roll:.

If anyone is on later and wants some practice getting off uncontested 6-shot megastrikes (since I can never seem to tell which character I'm controlling or where the ball is during online play) maybe I'll be up for a match or two.
 
I don't think so, besides the cheats that you get. Which are worth it to me, as I've been turning on the "No Stadium Effects" cheat when I play, then I can pick any arena and not have to worry about them.

I was thinking we could run alterate tournaments sometime in the future, where we set a bunch of different fun cheats and play the games for the tournament that way.

i so wanna participate in a tournament. i hope you guys set up one soon. i think i'm pretty good now. after i lost 10 games in a row i'm currently on a 22 game win streak. That includes 2 big sudden death wins (9-8 and 6-5) against somebody who was like 60-9 ^_^
 
Just got this from Gamefly and I probably own't keep it for long, so I was wondering if the FC's are attached to the disc or the console it's played on (meaning the FC I'll get will always be mine if I buy this after renting it)?

this is one of those games you gotta buy. it has infinite replay value plus these mario games don't devalue much. the gamecube version of Strikers is what..still selling for 25 bucks and used at gamestop?

I'm not in a hurry to buy/play the game, so I can wait, especially if the price isn't going to drop within the next few months. Since the FC's tied to the console/Mii, it works out perfectly for me, so I can buy it later and not worry about losing stats or my friends list because I didn't buy it first.

As for my FC, it's 249216 541987. I'll probably be able to play some tomorrow probably around noon-ish EST or later tomorrow night. If you're up for a match around then, feel free to send me a message to my Wii, if you're on my Wii friends list, or send a PM here if you're not. I guess if anyone's up for a match now, I could job a little tonight.

Edit 2: For the OP, my Mii attached to the code is named Chris. Added Strell, daroga, io, Rocko, seanr, and botticus initially to my friends list.

Completing all the challenges doesn't do anything special besides unlocking a cheat for each challenge.
The damn Striker cup is a pain in the ass though. I can't seem to get the most goals trophy. Do I need to completely start over in order to redo my teamates? I chose some crappy teamates when I decided to start playing the solo campaign...

i lost to petey 1-2 in the striker cup today. so frusterating. someday i'll beat that damn thing.

if you're out there lebowsky. i'd be up for a match at some point.
 
Have been too busy to keep on top of this thing, but it doesn't look like any of the matches I mentioned a couple days ago have been completed... I'll backtrack and see who will be forfeited (potentially both) tomorrow morning and get this forcibly moved on to the next round.
 
tournament results-
buttle over lebowsky in 2 games. i can't remember the scores.

very good matches. there was one moment when you were knocking down everybody on screen with birdo. that last half of the second game was a lot of fun. no one was on their feet for long.

Just finished everything on the single player campaign today - beat Petey yesterday using the coward-by-the-keeper method and Challenge 12 on Thursday - just had to get the golden foot on the Striker cup tonight.

Has anyone played on the 'Extreme' setting instead of the 'Normal' setting on the Road to the Striker Cup? If so, is there a big difference in difficulty or do they just start out and remain at a hard level throughout the campaign (as opposed to getting rough in the eliminations and super cheap in the Striker finals)?

I added you and as many of the other newbies as I could figure I hadn't already added. I still have a TON of people from the OP showing as "Connecting...". I'd gladly give you a beat down now Strell, but I think it probably won't connect until tomorrow. Another point not in favor of this Nintendo Wifi stuff :cry:.
 
I swear I will never win the crystal cup. I'm using Wario and the default team, but should probably change to a faster team. Diddy Kong owns me. I don't want to lose my faith in Wario, but what team does everybody recommend me using?

Same here. Made another run Saturday night, breezed through the qualifiers and then up to Diddy. I got the golden shoe trophy this time (unlocked the "Dump" field) so that was something, anyway. It helped that I had 2 12-goal games ;).

Then against Diddy in the first game I scored quick and decided to goalie camp again. But this time his dry bones stole it when the my stupid toad went too far away from the goalie (the goalie had the ball). I couldn't wait any longer (otherwise he lobs it to nowhere) and had to pass. Instant steal, instant Dry Bones deke into the goal. I swear, that move pisses me off more than anything. It's not like he was charged up or anything. Then I couldn't even get the lead in the next game and lost, so I suppose it made little difference. It's taking about an hour a run and it is really starting to wear me down. I almost want to get rid of the game because of it. If only they could have let you restart the Diddy match, or at least the elimination rounds after a certain number of failures - maybe 5 or something? I mean, seriously, the qualifiers are no challenge at all at this point and just serve to chew up time and make my wrist sore by the time I reach the finals. I really really really wish I could skip the damn things.

I tried copying my save file to the SD card before the finals but it gave me a warning to the effect of "certain data couldn't be copied - please read the manual". I didn't bother as I'm sure they mean the Strikers cup progress. The bastards, they work that little gem into their save/copy system but can't get get things running directly off the SD cards? RAT bastards, I say.
 
Actually, io, I'm assuming that the data copied is the single-player stuff adn you lose the multiplayer stats (thus the file cannot be hacked to give you like 1000 to 1 win/loss ratio). I've not tried it myself, but you can download saved games from wiisave.com which makes me assume that getting you through the horribly designed single-player is something you can save-spoof.

I'm also about to murder the game during the Crystal cup. But I started the game awhile back, and I found a better team (referring to side kicks)...is there a way to change them?!?

Man I can't get over how much I love this game but how HORRIBLY they designed the cup aspects of it.

Second round has been completed. I advanced js1, ep2011, and seanr1221 via forfeit (unscientifically because they had posted in this thread recently and their opponents have not).

Deadline for the quarterfinals is 8/25.
