And? Just because a team is bad, that's when you can start liking a team and not be considered a bandwagon fan?

Let's see, the Chargers draft two Grade A players, this looks like a good time for me to like them.

That's like saying I started cheering for the Falcons because Mike Vick was drafted. (which, I didn't)
You sir are an idiot and a half. What makes you 'able' to like a team? Because you came out of your mother's vagina in that state? What a joke.

In my opinion if you start liking a team based on a draft that still makes you a bandwagon fan.

Anyhow, my Panthers won yet again. With both New Orleans and Atlanta losing that division is now extremely tight, which is good news for Carolina after their slow start.

And if anyone's wondering (which I doubt): I was supporting the Panthers before they played their first game. I'm one of their original fans; unlike all the new fans that now support them since they've been fairly successful the last few years.

Not an original fan, but one since I moved here. Watched most of the 1-15 season and watch just about every panthers game so I don't think I am a band wagoner.

Still would consider myself a bigger Cowboys fan (since that is where I am originally from), but it is hard to root aganist either team when they play.

Hopefully the Cowboys can win on Thursday and end up 7-4 and hopefully end up winning the division. The senario is basically the same for the Panthers and I hope they end up winning their division as well.

Well it looks like the 49ers are only 1 game out in the NFC West. Thats extremely scarey, especially with 6 games to got.

Hopefully the Bucs can pull off an upset in big D on Thursday, 4-7 wouldn't be too bad. Though 5 of their next 6 games could be tough (depending on which Pittsburgh and Atlanta show up).

Edit: Though I think a healthy Hasselback might be the key for the Seahawks in the division.

There is absolutely no reason anyone needs to justify why they are a fan of a team. Bashing fans in this way is one of the stupidest societal "laws" I have ever seen, and is totally irrelevant to the enjoyment of the game by those who do the critiquing.

I really don't understand why another person's fan tendencies should ever be relevant to my own. I mean, who gives a damn? Like who you want for whatever reason you want. This is the USA not North Korea.

The "bandwagon fan" (a term I hate) isn't any less relevant than a "born and raised" fan. A fan is a fan is fan and that is ALWAYS good for football. The more "bandwagoners" the more exposure for my team and that is only a good thing. The translates to other sports and forms of entertainment.

I am a Redskins fan above all other teams. That is the one team I follow religiously. Does that mean I can't be a fan for the Panthers now? No it doesn't. Does that I mean I couldn't be a Vikings fan when I was in North Dakota? No.

49ers 5-5 baby, Seawho? Ramswhat? I don't see playoffs, because I see Atlanta and Cowboys making it, but this is nice.

Well said guile. I mean I do agree that suddenly becoming a Tigers/Cardinals/Carolina Hurricanes, etc. fan just because they won is crap and those people are douchebags. I can say, I hate the people who come into school the day after someone wins a championship sporting a shirt/jersey/hat, etc. and acting like theyve been a fan of that team all along.

They've still got a tough schedule ahead of them as well. They are at Seattle in a few weeks, when Hasselback and Alexander are much healthier.

Going to that game, I was pulling for Alexander to play over Morris because sadly I see way too many Seahawks games and Morris is the better back and will be, Alexander isn't that good, the loss of Hutch is something. The 49ers remaining schedule is this:

At St. Louis (toss up, really)
At New Orleans (Loss)
Green Bay (Win)
At Seattle (Loss, toss up again)
Arizona (Win)
At Denver (Win, due to benched starters)

Let's say the coin flips on the 49ers side and we beat the Rams, GB, Arizona, Denver and New Orleans looks beatable, so that puts the 49ers at 9-7, but i'm thinking crazy, right now.

I'd think closer to a 7-9 or 8-8 mark. I think St Louis is going to get a fire lit up their asses this week and going into St Louis is going to be tough for the 49ers. New Orleans at home, you're right there. Green Bay at home is a toss up with Favre, without Favre its a win. Seattle, heathly Alexander and Hasselback sit the 49ers down in Seattle. Arizona always seems to have the 49ers number, but at San Fran most likely a win. And Denver, depending on who is playing QB, may pull it out, especially if Cutler is playing.

I will give the 49ers this, they have a good young core, and with another solid WR could be dangerous next year, especially if Arizona doesn't get O-line help and with the Rams struggles.

I have us beating Denver because most likely they will have locked up a playoff spot and bench their starters, and Arizona barely beat us, it'll be a fun next few weeks but i'm sick to read that Gore hired Rosenhaus, the last 49er to sign with Rosenhaus? T.O.

Drew Rosenhaus and Scott Boras are cancers to the NFL and MLB respectively. I wished they just fall off the face of the earth. And then maybe the loyalty factor of yesteryear would come back and players would stick out their contracts then leave.

Go chargers! I've been a fan since the stan humphries era! I glad that they are a good team again, and could be for a few years!

I still think that the pass on vick was good then(L.T. , and brees for vick was great , I thought brees was a good QB out of perdue, vick was AMAZING coming out of college, remember that game vick had against florida st?) and is still good now.

It was a bad day to be an Eagles fan. A really bad day.
Welp, I was close. Dono tore his ACL. Out for the season. Looks like another surgery for Dr. Andrews in Alabama. Let's just hope we can go 8-8 somehow. Meh.
Bullshit. Bandwagon fans aren't fans at all. They like a team just because they win. When they stop winning, off to find another team. Same goes for the most popular team/most popular player. It's the same for these piece of shit 'fans' who like to only show their support when their team is winning. Yesterday, I saw about 300 people wearing Ohio State shirts. Where were these people the rest of the year? They may actually be really good fans, but they are afraid to wear anything about their school until a really big game comes around or they've won a title. It really pissed me off about the Steelers last year, we couldn't sell a jersey all year long until they beat the Broncos. Then they started flying off the shelf.

It's the same kind of people who come into a store looking for a baseball hat. Oh man, let me get that A-town hat. Let me get that CT hat (the Twin's TC hat). The majority of the people in this country are bullshit fans, and it sickens me. You couldn't pay someone to buy a Chargers jersey before LT was drafted, now I can't swing a dead cat without hitting someone with out his jersey. At least have the nads to own up to the fact you are an LT fan, and don't bullshit me with this 'Chargers fan' crap.

You want to be a LT fan, great. More power to you, and he deserves it. Want to be a Chargers fan? Great. They are a good team. But to claim you aren't a bandwagon fan by claiming you were a team fan since he was drafted? Sorry, you're just proving my point. I bet half the people that wear his jersey couldn't tell you where he went to school.

This isn't about jpod or anyone else on here in particular, it's about the state of so-called fans in this country. People latch onto the flavor of the month, and it's their all-time most favoritist player evar. I recall people talking about Merriman went he got suspended talking about, 'Oh, he'd never do anything like that. I've followed him his whole career.' Oh yeah, your watchful eye must have been why his stock dropped in the draft, right?

I guess it pisses me off that I usually know more about teams than these so-called fans do. If people want to be fans of a team because their favorite player gets drafted by them, that's fine. At lease have the decency to know the other players on the team and perhaps a little bit about their history. You know, like an 'Air Coryell' reference at the beginning of tonight's game.

I wasn't trying to pick on you man, but I've heard people say stuff like that with the feeling that they are just as big of a team fan as one who was there when Mark Malone was guiding the ship.

LT went to Texas Christian. He's from Rosebud, Texas. I've been a huge fan of his SINCE he was at TCU. What did I do when he was drafted? I bought his jersey. Yes, WHEN he was drafted, not last year, not this year. Would I have gotten the jersey had he been drafted by say, the Browns? For sure. I'm an LT fan and a fan of the team he plays for. And FYI, I wear my LT jersey every monday and I'll be wearing it tomorrow at school. The fact of the matter is that I didnt have a reason to be a Chargers fan before. Hell, I was 13 when he was drafted. I was pretty much JUST becoming a football fan. Oh, and FYI, LT has 50 and a TD at the end of the first Q. Go Bolts!
It was a bad day to be an Eagles fan. A really bad day.
After all the years of rooting for them and all the other Phila. teams, I just shrug my shoulders. I'm just so used to it that it doesnt pain me anymore.

LT went to TCU. I know that because I've only heard it a million times now. He's a prolific player and a great for the game. Just not a fan of his, not saying I dislike him either.

I like LJ better, but thats just because I saw what he could do at Penn State and was waiting for him to break out in the NFL, but then the Chiefs drafted him and he sat around for a while.

With all of that said, the Bucs are my team, and have been for a while. And I don't know what I will do once Brooks, Barber, and Kifin move on from the team. Those will be a bunch of dark years on the franchise, but I'll stick with them through the dark ages.
Oh, I forgot. LT was #5 in college at TCU.
But whats his favorite drink and video game?

Obviously, almost any NFL player's favorite game is Madden, unless they are into gaming.

And what did I say in my post?

If people want to be fans of a team because their favorite player gets drafted by them, that's fine.

That's all you ever had to say. See? It's not with people like you I have a beef with.

Here ya go:

* Favorite all-time NFL player?

LT: Wow. Walter Peyton.

* If you weren’t a RB, what position would you like to play?

LT: Probably safety because I’d like to come up and hit people like Rodney Harrison does.

* You’re a big video game guy. Favorite video game?

LT: Right now it’s either NBA 2003 or…right now I’m playing the MVP baseball…man, that’s an awesome game.

* Did you play baseball in high school?

LT: Yeah, actually I did my freshman year, but I was playing four sports, varsity in all of them, and I had to stop one of them. I just couldn’t run from baseball practice to track practice, so I thought about which sport would help me more with football, and that was track.

* Favorite food?

LT: Mexican

* Favorite TV show?

LT: Martin (Martin Lawrence) is my favorite of all time. But right now I love The Sopranos. I don’t miss an episode.

* Favorite musical act?

LT: Man that’s tough.

* It’s not Vanilla Ice, is it?

LT: (laughing) No, not him. I like a lot of stuff. I like the old school stuff like the Temptations, Al Green.

* Favorite movie?

LT: Man I have so many. Probably, you know what, I like a lot of older films like The Godfather, Scarface. But I also like the football films, especially Remember the Titans. I have so many; it’s hard to pick. I loved Pulp Fiction and The Usual Suspects and any psychological thriller.

=D
LT2's life story
Thats taking it overboard.

And he should be LT squared or something, as the "original" LT broke Theisman's leg about 20ish years ago.
LTLT?
I would've said Jr, but that'd imply relationship to the original.

And LT2 just didn't seem right. He's this generations LT, so maybe LT2k.

Yeah, just stick with LT. With that said, time to watch the game and game up.

I could call any fan fairweather, shit i've been a fan of the Warriors since I was born, 13 years without playoffs..

Trust me. What we as Philadelphia sports fans have to endure is like nothing anyone else can relate to.

fuck yeah! chargers up by 1 ! I got my natrone means jersey on! I really need a new jersey , but damn they cost too much!
Philadelphia does find a way to suck harder than anyone. I keed I keed.
No dude, you're right. It's true.
Man they gotta use Gates more often.
Agreed, the guy is a man among boys out there, just the way he shields the defender with his body is amazing.

I' m so happy to have seen so many games on tv this year!(and I hope many more come playoff time) Because I'm in ohio I'm stuck with, browns, lions, steelers, bengals yuck..
fuck yeah! chargers up by 1 ! I got my natrone means jersey on! I really need a new jersey , but damn they cost too much!
Oh shit! I used to have a Natrone Means Jaguars jersey.

Natrone Means business.

Oh man, my heart stopped beating when Olshansky snapped and got that 15-yard penalty. Another good game by the Bolts though.

Agreed. Someday, in some blissful alternate universe, the Phillies, Eagles, Sixers and Flyers will all win championships within a couple years of each other. The last surviving Philly sports fan will die from shock after the Flyers' victory. (I figure the Phillies and Eagles winning would take out at least 50-75% of us in one fell swoop.)
No dude, you're right. It's true.
It's human nature to go where the grass is greener.

Sports is one of the only things that illogically goes against that. People get tired of things and get new favorites in foods, clothing, game systems, websites, game magazines, music, movies, tv shows, friends, books, hairstyles, sex partners, cars, etc. so how can sports teams and/or players be excluded from that as well? Consistent success can turn casual fans into long time fans who appreciate the history. Michael Jordan proved that.

Look at this from a players perspective also...

When I was playing JUCO basketball we had a hard time getting people into the stands. Yet when the VCCS tournament started and word got around of our first round upset victory and people started coming and supporting us. It was a good thing for all involved. It didn't matter if they didn't follow us later because the here and now is what mattered.

I can understand why you don't like it. Loyalty is hard to find in this day and age. I just don't see why it should make anyone angry. It is so insignificant compared to some other things fans do, IMO.

It does for me, I dunno why. Although, I can get angry on the word go. I worked at a sporting goods store, and that didn't help. I saw people buy jerseys because they had won a big game the day before. I saw people who bought a jersey because it matched their hat...which was of a totally different team. It just annoyed the piss out of me.

If you want to wear something of a team, at least know who the team is. And don't be surprised when I give you a dirty look when you have a Yankees hat on and a Braves jersey.

On an unrelated note, I am back with a winning record regardless of tonight, and I might win fantasy this week without a starting QB and going up against Peyton Manning. That's hot.

Thank you Mr Hands-to-the-Face penalty. That saved my week. My QB rode the pine, and I was going up against Peyton. Thank you Lee Evans and Ocho Cinco.

Note to all NFL fans. The first Thanksgiving day game will consist of one real NFL franchise and the Tackling Dummies from Detroit. Those interested in real football can pass this game over without fear of missing any true NFL action.

The Tackling Dummies will bring the following.

Stress free victories for opponents
Ownership/Management that could only survive in a business model that cannot lose money
Bring a sense of comic relief reminiscent of the Three Stooges to NFL stadiums
Win one playoff game per lifetime
Turning draft day from dream to nightmare with the words "Selected by the Lions....."
Last, but maybe most important providing a living breathing "What Not To Do" manual for NFL franchises

Eating food and expecting an NFL caliber experience before viewing a Tackling Dummies supposed "game" can induce vomiting. You have been warned.

I leave you with a quote from longtime Tackling Dummies owner and overseer of all things stupid Mr. William Clay Ford Sr "The fans, and I don't blame them, are interested in the won-loss record and I guess that's the barometer you judge success or failure by if you're a fan,"

Hopefully Joey Harrington will have the game of his life.

Cutler is going to replace Plummer. Looks like the Broncos have given up on this year. It isn't Jake's fault IMO that his running game hasn't been all that great and Rod Smith hit the wall and is now a shell of himself.

Denver just likes to place all the blame at his feet because of his reputation. He didn't cost them their super bowl bid last year, it was the defense just like it has been the defense that has given up a ton of points in the Colts and Chargers games.
