More athletes dieing of heart problems :(. I've been a loyal grizzlies fan since they moved to memphis with golden state being second. I'm optmistic about the grizzlies but you know there the grizzles ;) I'm really glad they got rid of Jason Williams since I thought the bibby trade was just a attempt to sell more tickets and not to win games. I'll be happy if they get pass the second round in the playoffs if they even make the playoffs

I think adding a veteran like Eddie Jones is going to pay big dividends in the end for the Grizzles.

The Celtics are handing it over to the young kids by letting walker and payton leave. We are probably going to struggle this year but it will pay off in a few years. Al Jefferson will be an all star in 2 years mark my words

I see good potential in the Warriors with J-rich and Baron Davis working all season. They did great after the all-star break once they got baron. Drafting Ike Diagu helped them down under the post which is really the area they have been lacking.

Speaking of bad news, how about the Suns losing Amare for most likely half the season with microfracture surgery. It's a preventative step, but it still sucks.

Yeah, that is going to be rough for them. Amare is a freaking BEAST. I wouldn't be surprised to see Shawn Marion avg 25 pts. per game until Amare comes back. I didn't realize until a few days ago that they only have four players returning from last years squad too.

I've always been a Shawn Marion fan, so hopefully he'll be able to step up to the challenge, but when you look at the fact that they lost Q, Joe Johnson and Amare's going to be out, that's a LOT of missing firepower.

I cant wait for sixers basketball. I really like Cheeks as the new coach and hopefull CWeb can step up this year. Corver was good in the reg season but choked in the post season. Igudalla(sp) is going to have another great year. WHooo!

Yeah. I was really surprised they couldn't get Joe or Q back. I could see them losing one but losing both is tough. It looks like Jim Jackson will get the bulk of time at the SG position this year.

I'm counting down the days. Really eager to see how the trio of Jefferson, Kidd, and Carter play together.

Ahh...opening night. I love it.

Wow, I actually like the Hawks. Its sad to hear about someone die at such a young age. May he rest in peace.

What does everyone think that this new dress code?
Having to dress more formal when doing community events and even at 2:00 am at hotels?

No other pro sport has this.
Stern wants a more professional looking image. Which is not fair. No jeans?
What's he going to ban next? Cornrows and braids? I'm not trying to be rasict but it really does seem more geared toward the black players.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think the glove being on the heat is bad news. I don't see him as someone who will happily sit the bench for an entire season.

I also don't care for Jason williams. The Heat picked up a lot of talent, but they also picked up a lot of bad attitudes.
I got the Warriors in the 5th seed.
Is this before or after the 49ers win the superbowl? I kid if Baron stays healthy i forsee a 6 or 7 seed. The west is still mighty tough and teams progrss slowly in the NBA

This is after. Because the playoffs start in February, and the 49ers would already have won the Super Bowl =D

You know, I'm feeling pretty good about the Timberwolves this year. I think that getting rid of Cassell and Spree was a great example of addition by subtraction. I'm really hoping they make the playoffs...we need to make some progress this year really badly.

I didn't know there were so many Warrior fans on this board. I'm predicting around 7th seed for the Dubs. I was hoping to see Diogu play with NBA competition but he got injured just before the first preseason games (and one of only 2 televised games). Supposedly he will be out for 3-4 weeks, hopefully he can sneak into the last preseason game which will be televised.

Hey, the Knicks might actually have a good center now. I just hope I get to catch some games this season. I miss MSG.

Someone needs to slip something into Isiah Thomas's drink and hide him until the trading deadline. He is the worst executive in Basketball you guys had like seven power forwards last year

IT was actually better than Layden. Layden seriously screwed over the Knicks.
At least Isiah finally did something good and picked up Curry, even though he will be overpayed and the Knicks will be like 13 mil over the cap limit.

Was Layden responsible for the Alan Houston contract?

Well Thomas does a lot of his moves out of need of resurgence. Remember when he got Marbury? That got a lot of buzz around the Knicks. Still it's ridiculous, they have all these SG's. Q-Rich, Houston, Crawford, and Marbury. I predict Thomas is fired.

The 100 million dollar contract? Yes.

The Warriors may be one of the top 10-15 teams this year. With Baron and J-Rich as well as Dunleavy, Pietrus, Murphy and Fisher. Their one of the deepest teams.

I really don't have a favorite team anymore. I followed the CHARLOTTE Hornets when they had guys like 'Zo, Larry Johnson, Glen Rice, Eddie Jones, Muggsy Bogues, Dell Curry, and Frank Brickowski. It will take awhile (if at all) for the Bobcats to mean anything to me. I was a huge Charles Barkley fan too so my teams were the 76'ers and the Suns back in the day.

I liked the Warriors when the had Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin all averaging over 20 pts each. Fun teams to watch.

Hell yeah, Run TMC! Too bad they couldn't win anything that mattered.

I was raised on the LAkers of the 80's, so I'm a lifelong Lakers fan. They're a young team, so it'll be interesting to see what happens. I hope Phil will be able to get Kwame straightened out into a solid payer.

Speaking of Kwame heres a quote from him

"This is my first summer [with] no trouble. I ain't go to jail for speeding. Didn't go to jail for DUI. I didn't break my foot. I didn't break my other foot. I'm one step ahead of the game already."

love that similar quotes can be found here http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/quotes/archive

Man, that kid...He's got talent, his head just ain't on straight
Ugh, hate fisher. Wish the deal for B-Diddy was Fisher and Davis. I loved Speedy.
My thoughts exactly, Speedy would also compliment Baron alot better because right now we have no one else who can penetrate (maybe Zarko) and no one to guard speedy PGs like AI or Tony Parker. I wouldn't mind Fisher so much either if he wasnt drastically overpaid but Montgomery just had to have him...

Same here. He was fun to watch. Fisher i dunno, hes a good shooter at times, but hes not really a playmaker.

I made a thread about it but i figured I'd mention it in the NBA thread as well......

CUT AND PASTED FROM THREAD:

Any CAGs in or near Portland? I've got FREE upper level Blazers tix oct 18, 22, 26

I've got some upper level tix for the dates above vs clippers, raptors and kings. They are going for just a couple dollars on Ebay but the markets flooded and not selling..

If you want to go pm me and I'll email you the tickets to print out.

Oh yea, GO SIXERS!!!!!!!!:bouncy:

Nice thread. I'm a Mavs fan still steaming that the other two Texas teams are freaking behemoths now. Well the Spurs have been, but they got even better with Finley and Van Exel.
Does anyone know what team drafted Hakeem Warick?
The crappiest team in the L, Memphis Grizzlies.
(I know they dont suck that bad, but i just hate them the most. Damn you battier, damn you to hell.)
