Hornets made a pretty good trade in trading Jamaal Magloire to the Bucks for Desmond Mason, 2006 1st round pick, and cash.
It seems like I'm the only one who thinks that that isn't a very good trade for the Bucks. Magoloire is overrated to me, alot of people think he is a good center because of his all-star appearance in 03-04 (i believe it was that season). Magloire isnt particularly good at one thing; he is an average post scorer, average defeder (at best), average shot blocker, average rebounder (at best). He'll give you 12 and 8 a night but they just payed Gadzuric a bunch of cash and he could give you 8 and 12 a night if he started. Magloire has also been pretty injury prone and his PPG will likely go down because Redd, Ford, Simmons, and Bogut (who will probably play the 4) require more shots than his previous teammates. He also had Baron Davis creating shots for him his whole carreer. That being said, he is still above average in this day and he can do a little of everything.
Mason has proven to be a good scorer and perimiter defender. He is a great athlete and finishes well around the rim. He also rebounds well and he has a great attitude. His only real weaknesses are ball-handling and shooting. The first rounder for the Hornets really makes me believe that the Hornets got a great deal out of this. Although I tihnk Mason is the best player in the trade, a Center is of higher value than a swingman these days. Add a 1st round pick to the otherwise pretty even trade and its a real steal for the Hornets.
I can see why both teams pulled the trigger on this trade. Milwaukee improves but I think the Hornets got the better end of the deal. Both players are solid and still young so they can still improve their games.
