Congratulations! Which one?

I was busy last night, but I can see what's up with you guys tonight after the Kings game. Still no controller or new graphics card til probably next Saturday, though. Should be able to order through Amazon Prime on Thursday.

It was the Pro banner.

The funny thing is Brandon and I didnt even notice we were doing playoffs until like a minute or two left in the third on the first game. Out of no where, the fans busted out the towels, and I was like:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFco7i-ICmE

And Gary and Nate were like "Yeah, you guys didnt notice?"

Then were were like "eh, fuck it, lets keep going," and next thing you know we have some nice soft toilet paper.

Sweet. You all made sure to back out into the lobby and get the achievement for doing that after winning a playoff cup, right? I was fortunate enough to get that one out of the way early on.

Yeah, I definitely got the achievement. Totally unexpected to go on a run like that last night. We ended up winning 7 out of 8 games, and only avoided 2 teams all night (and one as a "not a good team to go out on"). Just one of those nights that shows that if the game worked as it should (matchmaking, server ping, goaltending, and even the AI to an extent), it could be reasonably enjoyable. It's when things start to tilt the other direction that you want to punch yourself in the face.

Either way, looking forward to Steam night tonight. Matt, I'm not sure what to tell you. I think the only games you had any luck with last week were Super Meat Boy and Scribblenauts, right? I don't think we've all got any 2D low graphics games that are multiplayer. One thing I wanted to make sure of with you though, do you have any documentation on your PC's motherboard that says what type of slots you have? For a new graphics card you need 1 PCI-e x16 slot. They're pretty standard on almost all motherboards these days (and make installation really, really simple)...but at this point, I don't want to assume anything, lol.

I can't figure it out for sure, but from what I could gather through some Google searching, I believe I do have that. My PC is a Gateway, model SX2110-UB25, if that helps.

Yeah...low profile, low power consumption, and he should at least get some kind of boost. Even if the CPU bottlenecks it, I've just gotta believe a dedicated GPU will get him more than those measly 14 FPS, haha. As a stopgap solution until he's ready to invest in a more robust PC (which, seriously, Matt...when you're ready for that, talk to us), that's probably as good as he can do.

I'm not going to be able to spend the money required for a "robust" PC anytime soon. Probably not in the next year. Not unless I pass on buying a lot of other stuff.

Totally understandable. That's why I think we're all hopeful a stopgap solution will at least give you some playability. It's a little hard to predict exactly how much you'll gain in terms of performance. But what we can all say is there's no way having a dedicated graphics card could HURT you. So, even a $30-40 investment should give you a boost.

In other PC related news, I finally got a hold of one of the developers of the Euro Truck Simulator 2 multiplayer mod and he told me that they're releasing another build tomorrow which will allow for command line launch options. So, I should be able to use it with the Rift again. They've been pretty awesome with updates so far...I think that's like 3 in a 10 day span.

I also read people definitively saying that the mod does work best after you've bought your own truck. Not sure how I was able to get the jobs working last night without doing that...but it does seem to be very hit and miss. I also regret not buying all of the DLC paint jobs when they were on sale now...since we could choose one to be "CAG colors", haha (and for some reason, $2 is much less appealing than $1). Should be some great things in store for that mod though.

Actually, I just saw they posted a preview and the changelog for the new ETS2MP build.

http://forum.ets2mp.com/showthread.php?tid=2032

Changelog:

* Command line support (run launcher.exe with eurotruck2.exe commandline for example launcher.exe -oculus)

* Added nametags.

* Interface improvements.

* Sound synchronization improvements - from now we are using proper sounds in interior.

* And some more changes :)
Pretty decent work from a group of people not even getting paid.

Congrats guys. I think I'm gonna trade in 14. With The Show out, I just don't see my playing this much.
:(

LMAO...well, here we go! Sold!

Matt, For the most part though, since you have a PS4, it's pretty much like having a PC at this point. A lot of former indie PC only titles are making their way over to PS4, so having both a PS4 and a gaming PC is kinda redundant now other than for the console exclusives.

Kinda weird how long it took for the mod to come out though, considering it's about a 2.5mb mod. Maybe most of it is server side? I wonder if they can get co-op in, or if it's more just "play single player with other people simultaneously" thing. I guess we could kinda have a make-shift coop if we start new profiles at the same time and choose the same routes/skills/location/etc.

That's a reasonable point...though I still don't think some of the really off beat stuff will ever come to consoles (hell, I'd be shocked if Euro Truck ever went to consoles and that's almost been universally praised). But I guess it depends what you're looking for and where your multiplayer strengths lie. If you don't feel like you're missing out on anything, then yeah...a PS4 is more than enough to keep you busy. But we play weird shit, lol. And that's the way I like it. :)

Yeah...I have no idea how much experience those guys have, and I know they hit a lot of bumps along the way with people quitting the project. But it seemed like a lot of their issues stemmed from getting things to sync up...getting trailers to display and function properly...getting collisions to work right (which they're still working on). I mean, when you factor in global pings and everything, it's probably a nightmare.

I've seen people posting about not re-entering somebody's lane until they're a good 6-7 truck lengths ahead of them...just to account for any server lag, and not running into somebody that they don't think is there. Kind of odd...but when you think that it's all basically homebrew, it's still pretty impressive.

I'm planning to order the graphics card Brandon recommended in a order days. While there are a lot of indie games coming to PS4, I'd have to buy them individually (unless they're free on PS+) whereas, on Steam, I have access to over 600 games and the ability to play them with you guys. Plus, like Nate said, a lot of weird stuff doesn't come to consoles. And you all know that weird and I go hand in hand.

Cool. I'm excited that you're taking on the task of a do it yourself upgrade. Learning about PC parts and installations is empowering. I had this realization the other day...I ride rollercoasters in my house, sing custom rap songs in Rock Band, and play games that were never meant to be games. WTF fantasy world do I live in? lol

Anyway, this video should be a big help. You'll pretty much need to follow this to a tee. Very simple...basically monkey work, lol. If you can operate a screwdriver, you can do this.

And like I said, any questions you have, just ask us, man. We all had to start somewhere. And once you get familiar with PC parts, it's insane the stuff you can do.

Stupid phone with its unwanted copying and pasting. I meant that I was going to order the card "in a few days". But thanks for the video. I know little about tools, but I can use multiple types of screwdrivers! Lol.

Probably a stupid question: There's no easy way- if any at all- to upgrade my processor speed, is there? Mine's only 1.4 Ghz, but I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to play this:

http://store.steampowered.com/app/274310/?snr=1_5_9__205
I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to play that right now. Your processor may only be 1.5 Ghz, but it's a dual core (2 cores running at 1.7Ghz each). That game says it needs a Pentium 4 (single core) at 2.0 Ghz. So, you should be fine there.

And the RAM and graphics demands appear to basically be nothing. Now, whether that game is worth $9 or not, I don't know, haha. But yeah...I'd be stupified if you had trouble running that game, lol.

Humble just rebooted their Deep Silver bundle. Doesn't seem to be quite as good of a dael as last time, but it's a legitimate "beat the average" (which is currently dropping too), and it's a great collection of games for anybody who missed it.

Building another rig for a buddy of mine. So far his total on the rig is 4k and he isn't even done. I said, buy the parts and I'll build it for you for nothing. This thing is going to kill anything I even remotely throw at it lol.

Haha, Microsoft is backpeddaling on the Kinect. They have announced a version of the One without a Kinect for $100 cheaper.
Yeah, I saw that. Although I've softened my stance a bit on getting a console (Amazon Warehouse Deals had some PS4s up last night for $276), I'm still not sure I trust Microsoft. I guess it's good that they're making concessions to give the public what they want. But man, they really couldn't have been more wrong with their original plan for the Xbox One.

Anyway, I've kind of decided that since I'd only be buying a console for a select few games (mainly sports titles), I really don't want to use any of my own money for it, haha. If I could pull off something either through flipping credit or even an offer site like when yourfree360games.com was still active, I'd probably go for it. So, realistically, if I could tally up $300 of Amazon credit, I could see myself getting one of those PS4s on AWD.

How well received the new UFC game is could have a big impact on that too.

That would be great if you got a PS4 because I want a CAGFC this year and a CAGLS Madden league on the system. :whistle2:D

Thanks for explaining the processor situation. I did some research after making that post and discovered that I could upgrade, but I'm glad I don't have to do so- at least not just for this game.

I hadn't heard about the game until this morning when I saw a feature about it on EP Daily. It seems like a brilliant concept, so I'm more than willing to try it out now that I know I can.

Yeah...updating a processor isn't too bad. It's more involved than just slapping in a new graphics card though. You gotta figure out what socket type your motherboard has so you know which new processor to buy. Then, when you remove the old one, you have to disconnect/remove the CPU fan, pop the old processor out, put the new one in, and then reconnect/reattach the CPU fan. It's not really hard...just can be a bit more intimidating if you've never done it before.

But these days, with Youtube, you can learn how to do pretty much anything. And really...once you get to the point where you're comfortable upgrading that, your PC will really start to make a big jump (because after upgrading your CPU and GPU, you're basically half way to building a computer, haha).

Also, just wanted to mention, I didn't realize it earlier, but that Deep Silver bundle on Humble is for 24 hours only. Apparently, they're doing daily bundles for the next 2 weeks. Probably a lot of repeats, but I know there were a few I missed, so I'm curious to see what they'll be throwing at us.

Indie Gala has an interesting bundle up now. It includes that Truck Racer game and Helicopter Simulator 2014: Search and Rescue (and a few other standouts as well). Not sure how many people know about this, but IG does these happy hour deals to reduce the cost when people buy in bulk, and there's usually somebody on CAG hosting one. I got the entire bundle for $1.65 by contacting BobbyTastic. It's prices like this that makes my Steam library look retarded, lol. 11 games for under $2, haha.

Here's the thread for it.

Damn...that Helicopter game is actually pretty fun. The music is a bit overdramatic, but once you turn it off, the game feels more realistic. I rescued two people who were in a plane crash...and then I crashed the helicopter when I reduced my altitude way too quickly, haha. Whoops.

Also, the new build of the Euro Truck multiplayer mod is out...and Oculus Rift mode finally works with it. So, yay for that!

I think I might pass on a bundle that has a "sim" game in it for the first time. My steam backlog is getting redonkulous.

On the other hand, the rift is looking more tempting every day.

I would say the Rift is probably worth it for Euro Truck, Assetto Corsa, and War Thunder alone, haha. Scary games are also very good...but they're...you know...scary. Just imagine when I got you in Damned with a Rift on.

So, it costs $20 more, but tw3nz0r said I'd get a lot more out of this card:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150712

Thoughts?
It's not low profile. It won't fit in your case. Apparently, tw3nz0r didn't do the research that we did, lol.

Also, I get why a 2GB card for $20 more would be attractive. But I'm not sure you'd see much of a difference in performance anyway without upgrading your processor (and in this example...your case...and possibly your power supply, lol). There's definitely going to be a ceiling for what your PC can do in its current state.

You could put a $300 video card in it, and it probably wouldn't perform a whole lot better than the $40 one we recommended...because it would be held back by other parts of your PC. Hope that makes sense.

X2 for what Nate said.

My Old PC actually had a low profile version of that card a couple years ago, but a 2.3-ish ghz processor. I could run 5-10 year old games at that time fine, but new to 5 year old games, I had to run on lower setting. And at the time, I ran all my games at a 1280x1024 resolution.

Also, free game:

New Humble daily...probably one of my favorite bundles ever...and one of the first that I bought. Some really interesting experiences in this one. And Matt, I'm 99% certain your PC in its current state could even play a few of these, haha.

https://www.humblebundle.com/

The BTA is currently at $3.39...which in my opinion is a steal for these games.

Also, here's an awesome experience that won't cost a dime. It's like a hybrid video/game/PSA, and if you have a fear of water, you'll probably shit your pants.

Everybody needs to click that (you have to be able to scroll a mouse wheel though).

Hmm... Not sure about the bundle. I have half those games on PSN. The ones I don't, I haven't heard of. Definitely a good deal if you don't have some already.

Thanks for the continuing answers on the cards. Makes perfect sense.

So I drowned at 5:03...that was a weird game. Fingernail part was pleasant lol.
Wow...I didn't know it could go more than 5:00. I thought I made it to "the end" and it was exactly 5:00. But yeah, I thought it was pretty crazy...and it seemed like an actual PSA about water safety. Just kind of odd because I think more effort was put into that than in any of the Transformers movies, lol.

Ah, well...Dear Esther and Thomas Was Alone are my favorites out of the bunch. Little Inferno is pretty cool too. Just a great collection of legit indie games.

Also, who's ready to win another banner tonight? lol

Hmm... I got a message from EA, but it seems to have been sent to the wrong address. It appears to be directed at another beloved member of our team.

I personally thought that was a little harsh.
