http://www.pcgamer.com/steamvr-hands-on-valve-overtakes-oculus/

Wow...PC Gamer confirms, Valve has already surpassed Oculus in VR quality. Damn...I'm a fan of Oculus and what Palmer Luckey started with this movement. But ultimately, I want the best system with the most compatibility (still a little miffed that many of the games I bought that were DK1 compatible couldn't be updated to work with the DK2....DARK, Dream, Kairo, Montague's Mount, Montas, Probably Archery, Q.U.B.E, Slender, Surgeon Simulator...damn, that's a lot).

Between that and a lot of the issues the DK2 has had, I could see people jumping to Valve's unit (even if it is called the "Vive"). Although it is a little disconcerting hearing that the pixels are more noticeable. Not sure if people will be willing to go backward in that regard. It'll be interesting to see how things change as the launch gets closer...or if Oculus will speed up development to ensure that they're not beaten to the market.

So, that Medieval Engineers game seems to be getting really good reviews on Steam. And of course, with Steam Workshop support, people are building ridiculous shit for it. Seriously, every game should have Workshop support. Skip to 8:16 in this video to see the awesomeness.

I guess the game hiccups and has some framerate issues (which makes sense considering all of the simultaneous physics calculations going on). But hopefully with some optimization it will only get better. I look at stuff like this and again it makes me think...EA still can't figure out how a puck should move...  :wall:

Just when you think everyone forgets, you remember, no one forgets.
Yeah, I remember the original when it happened, but I had no idea how many times people have trolled the news with that. Some of the compilation videos are hilarious.

That one made me laugh though cause it's like "Hey...I'm a Leafs fan. I could answer the question and talk about hockey...but no, you know what...fuck her right in the pussy!" lol.

Not a bad deal, would be around 20 for the game and all dlc elsewhere. Not sure if I'm looking for a Kart Racer now though...its hard to top Mario Kart.

It is. But there's really hasn't been a prominent one on PC. And that Coffin Dodgers game looked good, but it just came out and I'm not paying $20 for one. Kart racers are just so easy to pick up and play. I guess that's the biggest draw for me...and it does have online multiplayer if we wanted to do that.

Though, I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to stop playing Payday at this point, haha. Saw a guy already at Infamy level 16 yesterday.

I know I'll definitely get that VR Karts one when it's fully released though. A kart racer in the Rift (ha, or possibly even the Vive) would be fun as hell.

Speaking of payday, this might be a better XP grind than Hoxton, only catch is you really have to have a coordinated team.

500k+ Exp, 2+ mill dollars in ~5 minutes.

Yeah, that's pretty awesome. Definitely something you'd have to do with friends though. I think most of the "loot this" missions could probably be done like that. I mean, we even saw how easy the art gallery one was when we started ECM chaining.

With everybody having max ECMs, you could probably rush all of them. Diamond Store, Jewelry Store, Ukrainian Job, etc. Just speedrun one job after the next, lol. That's practically a "breaking the game" kind of thing, haha.

Going back to kart racing games, my last post reminded me that I hadn't actually tried the newest VR Karts demo (http://www.vrkarts.com/downloads) and holy crap is it awesome! I really think it had to be made by the guy on the Oculus forums that was doing the Mario Kart levels before because the game is just full of MK charm. The level design, the music, etc. It's very much a MK ripoff...but a well done one.

I also discovered that it works with my G27...and that's just ridiculous fun. I'm kind of surprised this isn't being touted as THE game to introduce people to VR. It's very simple (ala Mario Kart), it runs great, and it's the exact kind of seated experience that makes VR worthwhile. Once it launches on Steam with online multiplayer, it's going to be the place to be for Rift enthusiasts.

It also seems that Steam has taken even more measures to limit worldwide gifting of games.

http://www.pcgamer.com/new-regional-restrictions-on-steam-gifts-come-to-light/

But I'm a little confused what this changes. The article talks about not allowing the game to be played in a country outside of where it was redeemed. But when somebody from Russia buys the game "as a gift" and never has it in their library, am I not then redeeming it for the first time?

It's supposed to be retroactive to December 2014...but the two biggest games I've bought since then were Dying Light (which was said to not be region locked at all) and Life is Strange (which I bought through Nuuvem...but that came up as a regular retail key). Neither game seems to be affected. As long as what I already bought is safe, I'm fine with it, haha.

Reading your post and looking at trailers for it, I think I figured why I get motionsickness sometimes- When I should get whipped around in real life (like taking a turn way too fast), I turn my head to kinda "brace" for it, but my body doesnt actually feel the force of the turn, and it throws me way off. Kinda like how a had a racing wheel in the past, but I never got used it it because there was never feedback in the pedals to mimic bad braking, road conditions, etc.

Hey, GTA V is out on PC already after all!

http://www.pcgamer.com/cities-skylines-mod-completely-recreates-gtavs-los-santos/

Just in Cities: Skylines form, haha. Somebody has already modded the game with an entire recreation of Los Santos. Once again proving that Steam Workshop support is generally better than the actual game. It blows my mind how quickly people get this stuff done.
I vaguely remembering that you could upload .png files into that game, and it would recreate the landscape automatically.

Nate, looks like they just announced a fight night will be held in Nashville in August.  Will probably be a crappy card since it will be on FS1 but might be worth keeping an eye on.

Wow, totally forgot about that series until I saw that. I wonder how their first run at Golf on Next Gen consoles will be...

The Golf Club wasn't too bad of a game, just missing a lot of "character" if that makes any sense. The last EA golf game I got super into was 2004 or 2005.

EA debuted a trailer for the game at least year's E3, obviously well before McIlroy signed on. Hope it turns out to be good but not so hardcore sim that it's off-putting.

The new Car Heist is up for Payday, and people on the forums are freaking out about it. Apparently, it lets you drive the cars and it's awesome. I am excite! :)

So yeah... we're just bad at Payday.
https://youtu.be/soZk3SAY1a4
Haha, yeah, I read on the forums last night that he did that on his livestream. People were saying he got lucky that there weren't more roaming civs upstairs...to where he could just run up to that guard and shoot him into the kitchen.

People seem to be very critical of the "RNG" or random number generator part of the game in determining how difficult the heist is. It definitely helps knowing that guards/civs can't actually see through the blinds though.

Not a bad day! :)

Haha, I'll just wait until Google Fiber gets here for that one.

In other news, I finally completed the Tabula Rasa achievement last night. I just went searching for randoms in the wee hours of the night. The first group I had, one guy was really amped up about getting it done, the third guy we had agreed to do it, and the fourth guy just left. So, we decided to just roll with three people and make the session private.

We ended up completing Day 1 on our first try. No turret vans, no armored trucks, and found the skulldozer on like the 2nd or 3rd door. Easy.

Then on Day 2, it all falls apart. The first run was our best, as we triple duped the first keycard. But then we got screwed by two dozers in the Operations Room at the same time. We all go down. Kept trying, and it just got worse. The really amped up guy then started whining about not being able to focus...and then he's running around on the other side of the room from us, getting downed, and we're having to navigate the hellspawn of specials to try to get to him. Of course it leads to death. After that, he says "Well, gg. I'm too tired." Awesome.

So, I take a break...then go back at it, and find another guy telling people "tabula or gtfo", haha. Most people are like "wat?" We seem to find a couple guys who are interested, but we have to explain to them what is needed. The one guy sets his up, the other says he did...but then we see his weapons are wrong. Not trusting that he's not a total moron, I ask him if he cleared his skills and he says "no sorry". So, the host kicks him like instantly, lol. We start to load up the mission, and the other guy disconnects...

We decide to just go at it with two people. And it took a few tries, but we complete Day 1 with this other dude being the last person up after finally finding the door all the way at the top. He got lucky as hell. There were just no enemies at the end when he jumped down, signaled the truck, waited for it, took the armor off, and put the ticket in. No enemies at all.

Then on Day 2, again, it took several attempts. And then this happened...

Notice where Hoxton is, lol.

Hooray for 5 loudouts.

Thats a weird glitch. I wonder if he would revive if it came down to it.

Also, wtf at 1:05, you killed the guy before he got near the power box, and it still went down.

Haha, I was wondering if you'd notice that. My guess is it was a result of the desync that happens in this game. I wasn't hosting, so I guess it would make sense. In a lot of ways, it's kind of amazing the game stays connected as well as it does considering how often what you see on your screen is not the same as what another person is seeing.

Think of the times we've shot guards and see them in different places. And I know there are a lot of times when I'll go to pick a lock and it'll show that you're already picking it even though on my screen you're like 20 feet away. It's kind of shitty on missions like this where you have to actively defend something. I'm just glad I don't have to play without skills any more. It felt like being a complete noob again.

Been pretty busy the past couple days so I didn't get a chance to upload it, but here it finally is in all its embarrassing glory, lol. Extra points to me for totally botching the last ECM. Had that not happened, we probably would have been at the van wondering why the mission wasn't ending, hahaha

 I cant believe none of us noticed till the last second.

Overkill also announced today that they will continue supporting Payday 2 for 2 more years.

http://www.overkillsoftware.com/two-more-years-of-payday-2/
Its still hard to believe games like NHL 15 have gotten like 2 or three patches, while Payday 2 is still supported 2 years later.

Yup...it's funny I see people in the Steam deals thread bashing Overkill because of all the paid DLC and saying that the base game was "barebones", but I'd love to be pointed toward another developer that supports their games like this that isn't a subscription based MMO.

The only other one I can really think of is SCS with Euro Truck Simulator 2. Both games are dirt cheap almost all the time now, and yet still get so many updates and expansions. Seriously the best examples of how to build brand loyalty. Crazy how things change. I'm now amped to buy American Truck Simulator and Payday 3 on day one...but wait to buy NHL used for half the price.

On that note, I also went back and played the original Payday last night...and holy crap is that game way worse. "Press F to Start Heist". WTF was that nonsense? lol. It would be cool if they remade the original heists with the Payday 2 engine and mechanics though. It would be pretty awesome if we could do that first bank job properly.
