Unlocked the rest of my boost slots...and the majority of the +7's earlier today. I was down to my final 6 games of the season, so I decided to actually go for the 200 hits on this LTL (that looks way dumber than BAP, lol). I just played the full game with line changes, and kept intentionally turning the puck over in my own zone either right at the blue line or in the corner (easiest places to line up hits). I got 56 hits in the first game and 79 in the second. BAM...boost unlocked, lol. I was really surprised it was that easy. But between playing on "high impact" and then turning penalties off, you can just smash people. So, hopefully I'll be a little more capable when we start playing after UFC tonight.

Notice how when the puck carrier loses control of his stick, the puck does some funky stuff.

Yup, apparently the loose puck deke is still in as well where the puck goes three feet wide but automatically returns to your stick afer the deke is over.

I admit I caved and bought two of the Mega Packs last night with points/cash. They suckered me in with the first one, which netted be Zetteberg, Derek Roy, Jarret Stoll, Perron and a Niklas Backstrom that I sold for 21,000 pucks. So of course the second one gets me nothing but defenseman, which I have plenty of (though Makarov is a welcome addition).

I'm having issues getting some. Can you be in the chl and still get them or do you have to be in the NHL? I have been trying to get the on that says get all A's and it is not unlocking. Got all assists in one game and all A+'s for the rating and still nothing.

NHL. And pre season games don't count either. The easiest way to get boosts unlocked (assuming you don't want to play legit...which would make it take forever) is to start a career at the entry draft on rookie difficulty. You can also modify your settings to turn penalties off and turn your shooting up and the CPU goalie down.

Then, sim the games up to the final 8-10 minutes of the 3rd period and jump in and try to get at least get 2 points in each game. This should pretty much ensure that you'll be drafted #1.

Next, do the same in your pre season NHL games to make sure you don't get sent down to the AHL. You might not even need to play every game depending on how well you do.

Once you get to the regular season, again, do the same thing...but this time, you should only need to play every other game. Many of the boosts require you to play in 40 games and only stats that you actually earn will count toward your boost requirements. Again, if you just average 2 points per game, you should be fine. If you start falling off the pace, just play a few extra games. 40 is just the minimum you need. Playing every other game works best though because if you sim too many in a row, your performance will always drop and eventually you'll get sent down to the AHL (even if you're the leading goal scorer...yay EA logic).

But following this formula will get almost everything unlocked very quickly. Even if you did like 10 games a day (totally reasonable when you're only playing the last 10 minutes of the game), you'll get through 2 seasons in about 8 days. Make sure your team wins the Stanley cup in your first season though...as there's a boost for that too. I usually just try to sim in the playoffs until my team faces an elimination game. Then make sure they don't lose again. And if for some reason you lose the elimination game, exit to the dash so the game won't save (not as big of an issue this year since the auto-save is separate from the regular save...but I didn't take any chances).

Alan, you should post that video for EA with just the word "Explain" under it. See if you get banned, lol.
I posted the vid on Sunday, but it's been largley ignored by everyone there.

A new tuner went up today though, but EA stopped putting tuner notes on their forums this year, so no one knows what the last two have done so far.

Sendme, to maximize your unlocks, you should actually be scoring two goals per game (not just points), because one of the unlocks requires a one goal/game average too.

Good point. I forgot about that one. Scoring goals should definitely be your main objective. I was thinking of the boost for getting 70 points in one season. Obviously, you could just do that with 70 goals too though, lol.

Honestly, the biggest boost I freaking hate is +7 speed. You have to either get your Legend card offline...or have a plus/minus of 100 in EASHL (I checked, and yeah...I'm at -26). OR, you can pay $2.99 to unlock it. So far, I don't like any of these choices, haha.

Yeah, I ended up buying the +7. I think I bought the +5 Speed one other time too.

I'm a sad panda :(

Haha...I have bought the +5 in the past (I probably actually bought it for 12). The thing I hate is there are multiple boosts that have that same criteria, and buying it for the one boost doesn't unlock all of them. But yeah...+7 speed just seems like a huge difference...especially if you double up where it gives you a +12 as opposed to a +8 (using only the +5 and the +3). But man, there's just something about giving EA $3 that pisses me off, lol. I'll probably end up doing it anyway. *sigh*

Here's your tuner info:

Date: 9/23/2013

-- Muted the play by play name for Nick Paul of the North Bay Battalion as it was incorrect.

-- Muted the arena introduction for Windsor’s WFCU Centre as it was incorrect.

Say what? They can use tuners for that!?

I used Gamecenter last season as it was discounted due to the lockout. Other than the blackout restrictions, its was very good.

While they make it look legit, I can't imagine any way that's legal to use in the US (they're located in the Netherlands...but I'd be shocked if it's looked at any differently than any of the other streaming websites). And it seems like their fees are pretty high anyway ($110 for a year)
I use NHL Gamecenter and stream it from my PS3 which works decently. But It can be infuriating when it lags. Usually streaming from the website comes in perfectly tho, and in HD. It's $25/month for 6 months but you can't stream your home market games (or nationally televised games for that matter).

Yeah, doesn't look legit to begin with, and like Nate said, you're paying for it... so technically you're paying to pirate a stream?

Yup, the options for watching NHL games are pretty much

1. Gamecenter...which I didn't think was really useful if you're in your team's home market due to blackouts. Gary, how is it working for you with Lightning games?

2. Cable - subscribe to 50+ other channels that you'll never watch so you can finally get the tier that carries the Fox Sports ___ channel that your team is carried on.

3. "Other Methods" - Of which there are many, but quality/consistency is always a roll of the dice.

As I've said many times, I wish teams would just host their own streaming options that you could subscribe to. Getting Gamecenter to watch "everyone but my favorite team" just seems stupid. But if I could pay to watch JUST Predators games, that eliminated the middle garbage of cable and other teams I don't care about, I'd be all over it. Even if they wanted to black out nationally televised games (of which the Preds have like 2), I'd be fine with it.

I have to say, the more I play HUT the more I feel like they are headed in the right direction.  The different tiers of packs are a great addition.  I also feel like it isn't impossible to get a high rated player this year as opposed to last year which every pack seemed to net the same people and no one over an 80 to 82.  Yesterday I pulled a Voracek out of a Gold Jumbo that I turned around and sold today for 37,500.  I also picked up a Galchenyuk that was trained to 94 OVR and had a duration of 16 on it for only 3,000 pucks.

Yeah I like some of the things they have done. But there's still little reason to have non-NHLers on your roster/collection. Also, is it me or does it seem like goalies rated 80+ are hard to come by.

Man...I've watched a lot of videos of people playing this game, and sometimes I think Markiplier can be as over the top as pewdiepie. But holy crap, this is one of the most genuine reactions I've seen.

Skip to 5:50 if you want to see where he's definitely no longer "playing along".

I was playing HUT last night and my router just cut off my internet.  The damned thing seems to do that about 5 times a year or so.  So after having that happen and causing my first offline loss out of the few games I have played I decided what the hell I would try the season mode.  I hope the one season game mode isn't how everyone plays.  The game was slow on both sides.  It was like EA cut the speed of the players in half.  Every player on the guy's team went for my puck carrier.  The guy was doing nothing but poke checks and having tripping calls.  The players would speed up to normal when it was a 5 on 4 or less.  I some how still couldn't get a goal on the 5 on 3 I had because some how the guy was all over my puck carrier.  If the guy wasn't poke checking he was playing the hitting game.  I felt like I was doing nothing but fighting the controls.  The guy ended up winning in a shootout.  I guess if I'm going to play online I need to learn the controls for the goaltender.

I don't know why in the hell EA has to make every mode seem like it plays different than the others.  When I played N8 online I had none of these issues and the game was fun. So is that how HUT seasons is or was I just playing against a jackass player on a bad connection?  If that is how it is I'm sticking to offline and the league.

EDIT: router went out so hell that could have been the issue. Need to get a new one after work.

Agreed, I really wish they'd go back to Training being permanent.

As for the goalies, in packs hey seem to be rare. I think I got a Pavelac (or how ever the hell you spell his name) in one of my first packs. He is rated 82 OVR, but I trained him up to 87 and just keep using Training Duration cards on him. I think I have used him for over 35 games now at 87,

I know the auction house has a boat load of 80 to 83s ranging from 4,000 to 8,000. I almost pulled the trigger on a Markstrom from Florida that was trained to a 95 I think. They auction ended up selling at 12,500. Then you figure another 4,000 every 15 games to keep the training increase.

In regards to the difference in game speed, I think it has to do more with the fact that who you are playing against offline vs online. If you are playing the low level tourneys, than you are going to be a lot faster than the CHL teams. Once you hop online it really depends on connection and the other person.

As for the person playing like an idiot... It is hit or miss in season mode. I have been playing it a lot more lately, and I would say 1 out of every 4 or 5 games you'll get the jackass who has a team of giants that just wants to bash you the whole time. My advice is that when that happens, start using long passes, swat the puck around the boards, lay off of the speed, pass a lot, and use the quick stop . Those things alone will give you a big advantage. I can't tell you how many times I have watched as some goon tries to freight train me only to go flying past and then gives up an easy 2 on 1 or breakaway. When in the attacking zone, utilize your dmen a lot like real life. One timers from D to D or from a forward in one circle to the opposite D are very successful in this game (just make sure the Dman is the correct shot to get it and it isn't a cross-body pass).

Lastly, the best counter for poke check spammers is to use the boards on passes to the wings when trying to get the puck out of the D-zone. Then when carrying the puck make sure you are shifting it back and forth with the right stick. This will draw a lot of trips.

I'm actually concerned this could cause me to disappear from the face of the planet, lol.

Does that only work for the PC and only certain games or on consoles and for all games?
Yeah, it's only for PC. And it's still in the development stage right now, but is very usable if you're reasonably comfortable with installing programs and following directions. Right now, there are only a handful of games that have built in support (Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2, Dark, AAaaaaAAAaaa!!! For The Awesome, iRacing.com, Kairo, Lunar Flight, Strike Suit Zero, Surgeon Simulator 2013, and a few others).

And then there are lots of demos and mini games being developed by people every day. There's even one that has you sitting in a virtual living room, playing a game on your virtual TV. Then, things start happening in your virtual home that correspond with what's happening in the game on the virtual TV. Yes, it's a game within a game, and people are already referring to it as Gameception, lol. The level of creativity coming from the indie community is crazy though.

There are also options to manually add support for other games (Skyrim, Mirror's Edge, etc) by downloading 3D drivers for those games and running some headtracking software. It's very very much in the early stages, and they're not anticipating the full consumer release to be for about another year. But this was something that got me way more excited than either next gen console did, so I decided I wanted to get in now and start seeing where this technology can go.

Congrats Nate... That's pretty awesome.  I had never really even known about this until a few months back when you guys were posting videos in one of the other threads.

Thanks. I like to think that I'm on the cutting edge of technology. But moreso, I think I'm just a big freaking nerd, lol. But hey, I'm excited, haha.

I think I saw that on kickstarter some time ago.  I didn't have the money to fund it so I didn't really look to much into it.  I will have to check it out once it hits the market when I have the extra cash.

"Don't sit so close to the TV, it'll ruin your eyes"

" fuck you mom , I'm going to get TWO screens, and put BOTH of them Inches from my eyes. "

New tuner:

• Increased the accuracy of players making pass interceptions.
• Reduced the frequency of fight starts in OTP and EASHL games.
• Reduced the chance of tripping calls when pass blocking.
• Decreased attributes for AI replacement goalies when a human EASHL goalie drops out of a match with 2 human goalies.
Kind of excited for the first two.

I'm at least intrigued by the thought of what those things might mean to EA, lol. Either way, I'll be ready for some games tonight. I found an interesting 2-way forward build that puts a bit more points into slapshots (which I feel could be more effective for me in this game...in the same way that Brandon uses them). With one-timers being less effective than in 12, I figure it might be beneficial to diversify my shots a bit.

Looks like my router is refusing to die.  Out of curiosity what routers are all of you using?  I have seen online that the Asus AC66? is a good one. I'm thinking about ordering the newer version of it that comes out on the 9th.  That is if this thing lasts till then.

I've still got a good old Linksys WRT54GL, which I flashed DD-WRT onto to give me a bit more control.
