I think I said that last week when we were playing. But yes. heckle we must if we hit a grand slam with a dump in.
Yeah, you did. I just found it amusing that they're using it as a selling point. It's like the kid in school who would be like "Yeah...well, my dad...he knows the President...and he said that my dad is the smartest person in America." They're just setting the bar so high, if the puck physics are broken this year, it's like "Well...I guess the physicists who work on the hadron collider don't know shit.."

I also enjoyed this one:

Is the teammate AI better at not going offside during the breakout?

You will notice an overall improvement with your teammate’s awareness through Vision AI. Vision AI ensures that teammates read and react to you, and in this case they will anticipate your decision making as you approach the opposition’s blueline. That being said, our goal is always to be authentic to the sport and offsides are a part of the game. So it is still very possible for you to make an extra move at the blueline that throws your teammates offside.
Now we're calling it "Vision AI". Mm hmm...we'll see about that, haha.

I'm legit surprised I haven't heard/read that "size matters" yet. Still have lots of time though.

Got GTA IV.

i still kinda want a WiiU for some reason...

My problem with the Wii U is it's still too limiting. Getting that wouldn't solve my sports game dilemma at all. And as good as Mario, Zelda, etc. are...there are games with similar mechanics on other systems. Unless you've got the time/expendable income to cover all of these different games, it just doesn't seem like a very versatile system to invest in. As is, I've got a crap ton of Wii games I still haven't played, lol. This past gen was way too easy to justify owning each system. I'm trying my best not to get sucked into that again.

Most of the video links were taken down, but this one still works: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbdv5arwmv8h0pj/nhl15.MOV

Not sure what to think. In a lot of ways, it looks the same. And in other ways...it looks better, but could easily be undone with a tuner set anyway. The "oh, you can't just skate into the zone" comment was amusing because it seems it gets repeated every year...then people bitch and whine that they can't deke past everybody, so they change it.

Truth be told, changing the announce team and adding the NBC integration will go a long way in and of itself for making the game FEEL new (in addition to being on next gen systems). Even if it plays largely the same, at least those components will make you feel like you're getting your money's worth, I guess. That reddit thread you linked to went off on the AI though, and pretty much highlighted all the stuff we've been asking for for years. I also saw the obligatory douche "play 6's" comment too. I took it upon myself to give him a little ribbing back, lol

For the Wiiu, it's definitely more nostalgia calling my name. I've been jonseing real hard for Mario Kart, Zelda, and Smash Bros.

Good post on the vids. My thoughts:

Refs might be "solid?" There's two faceoffs, both times the players seem to push the ref around after the faceoff.

In the fight, the refs skating around looks really awkward.

Lots of incidental contact with players falling to their knees at the beginning.

Crowd looks good.

And maybe it's the camera angle, but the rink seems wider?

I was reading on gamdfaqs that the refs are solid. If so, thats some great news! It still looks arcadey to me though
How bad is it that my first thought after reading that is "Well, at least the game will be more hilarious." I gotta feel like it's going to lead to a lot of frustration though. For some reason, I just don't have a lot of confidence in EA doing a good job programming the refs to get out fo the way. Wonder why that is, lol.

Well, that was fast (thats what she said)

Will likley miss out on hockey tonight, but hopefully you guys win some TP.
Yeah...I've been keeping an eye on the offerings from Warehouse Deals...and was hoping to snag a like new system for a decent discount. The drawback was that Amazon charges sales tax for me now. But I happened to see a system sold by Square Deals that was fulfilled by Amazon for $412.

I remembered that third party sellers still don't charge tax...which amounted to a fairly significant savings (sales tax is outrageous here...9.75%). Some of the reviews on Square Deals are a little shakey, so hopefully everything shows up as described. When you factor in taxes on a new system, I saved about $125...so yeah...fingers crossed, haha.

I'll be ready for hockey tonight assuming both Brandon and Gary are able to make it. If we've only got two...we might as well just crash into shit on Steam, lol.

Yeah, I'll be on at 10pm et tonight.

Also, I just got an email telling me I got into the Battlefield: Hardline beta on PC. So, yay for that. I look forward to running around looting shit...because that's all I really want to do, lol

And as weird as this sounds, I think I'm going to get UFC from KMart. They've got that $20 rewards points program thing for it...which I normally have no use for. But with Madden and NHL following shortly afterward (not to mention Horizon 2), it might be the best way to save some money there.

Bruce Lee and Royce Gracie seem easy enough to unlock anyway.

I've got gamestop credit left over and well, K-Mart....ugh. Worse than Wal-Mart here. Clueless employees and the stores always smell of garbage for some reason and they are no where near any kind of sewage plant.

Oh, I'm not GOING to a store, lol (it helps if you read that with your nose pointed toward the ceiling). I'm not sure how store pickup would even work with the rewards credit...but their shipping estimated it to arrive on the 18th. So, I can deal with a one day wait. I won't even have the system until Tuesday anyway.

Also, I'm ready for hockey if anybody wants to play.

CAG Hockey is a rollercoaster of emotions tonight.

Haha... Well, I wasn't gonna mention it here since I posted in the NHL thread in off-topic. I posted after the game 4 loss "begrudging respect to Henrik Lundqvist" and Rob's right- dude deserved better. Lunqvist was on fire for 4 of those 5 games. Quick was making amazing saves but Lundqvist had to face twice as many shots. He was the pretty much the whole damn show for New York in the last 2 games.

Some good stuff

Couple things that stood out.

Did I say the benches look ridiculously good? Well, they do. All 13 other players are there, the backup goalie sits in the right spot (mini bench), there's a trainer (different look for each team) and two coaches. On top of that, you've got Ray Ferraro between the benches. Awesome stuff. The crowd detail next to the benches really sells the whole thing. Looking at it in replay is just absurdly good.

If there was any doubt, hybrid icing is in

Because of the new cloth and puck physics, the puck can get stuck in a player's equipment.

ou now see the arena spotlights flashing over the goalie after he's been scored on, which adds to the realism.

Also, check out my comment to the guy thinking A'S NHL 14 AI is the best ever. You'll get a kick out of it. Last 5 or so comments.

So glad tonight's UFC event is a PPV. That damn Fight Night dragged on so bad last week with all the commercials. Some good fights tonight all the way through. OSP vs Jimmo is already a very solid matchup.

And I'll be ready for some Steam after the PPV is over.

Isn't the Google maps thing cheaper? lol. $30 is a little bit crazy I think.
Eh? The Google maps thing? Google maps has a highly reviewed, off-road simulation trucking game with co-op?

The physics in this is supposed to be pretty crazy...with much of the map being destructible. I saw people talking about running over trees and tearing up part of the road.

Google maps has a mode where you have to find an airport as it just throws you somewhere in the world randomly. Maybe if the game drops to $5. But for $30? I'll pass as it's not really my cup of tea at that price point.

Edit - But, does it have a employee working on the large hadron collider?! Cause NHL 15 does!! 😊

Oh, that's cool. I hadn't heard about that.

And pshh...I have my own hadron collider...in my pants.

I guess changing the announcing team is a way to freshen the game up a bit.  Having the same announcers for the past 10 or so years let them get very lazy on that aspect of the game.  They didn't even clean up names that had been mispronounced for 4 or 5 years now.  I still really like Gary Thorne as an announcer, but I'm sure EA was barely willing to do the minimum to get new names into the game each season let alone improve the commentary.  Switching to the Emerick/Edzo combination brings the game in line with NBC's top announcing pair so makes sense for the first next gen release.

I just wonder if they will strive to get all of Emerick's vocabulary into the game?  I think on some level we all need to hear that our virtual players "Swagger into the zone". lol  I just hope they get this one into the game:

Nice Alan, I might be the hipster here but, I could not get into  Peggle at all. Sure it's simple but maybe not being able to control the ball fully? I don't know. Just didn't click with me really. They had Peggle 2 as the deal last week for Live for XB1 for $5.99 and I still passed on it. I feel as if it will make the GWG eventually.

I decided to boot up the Rust experimental build to test some of the new stuff out. It's kind of weird to see it in such an unstable state. I did stumble upon somebody sleeping though. So...I did the only natural thing...

Classic EA NHL Twitter fuck-up:

https://twitter.com/EASPORTSNHL/status/479020858682261506

What's great is that the Kings simply responded with, "Uuuuuuuuuuuhhhhh..."

Luckily, rather than retweeting, I copied the tweet and sent it out along with, "Wow, EA" so it is still on my Twitter and Facebook:

"@EASPORTSNHL: Home of the #stanleycupchampions @LAKings! Consol Energy Center here: http://t.co/xveC91WGp0 http://t.co/aDXd3FLHLD"

Hey, guess what, Alan? I just got my Company of Heroes 2 key from Alienware, lol. I almost deleted the email because I figured it was just junk.

Eventful day for me yesterday. First, my Xbox One arrived, but the controller appears to be messed up. Despite not showing any physical symptoms, the left trigger seems to be perpetually pressed. According to Google, there seemed to be some controller issues with the One here and there. I hoped that updating the firmware would fix it (assuming it wasn't actually being mechanically pressed internally), but no such luck.

So, a replacement is on the way and I'll have it tomorrow. I thought about just buying another controller locally...but I'm not sure that I'll really have use for another one...and especially not for $60 (controller prices are really getting insane...I remember the days when you'd have 4 or more controllers for basically no reason, haha).

And right after dealing with that, my internet crapped out. It's been pretty spotty for the last couple weeks, but yesterday it went down completely. Comcast had to send a tech out today, and he ended up rewiring the line because he said it had decayed. So, yay...finally getting the speed I'm paying for again.

Glad to hear the key finally arrived. Don't know why you got it after me though, but oh well.

I guess the since the controller works with PC, you could make the case that if you buy another controller, one is for the pc and the other is for the console :p

Edit: don't have a link, but I got an email from GOG, Magrunner : dark pulse is free for 24 hours
