Gawd, I want Papers Please so bad, But the bank doesn't open till 8 am. Why you ask? 1 Dollar in my account. Stupid Grown Up Bills. Sigh. I'll just watch you guys stream it on Twitch.

Anybody worried about going super nuts during this Steam sale, you might want to check out Krugozor's sale list. JakeNome used to be the big seller on CAG, but he seems to be retired or on hiatus. But Krugozor's a good guy and his prices are great (wish I had used him for 7 Days to Die). I just grabbed Rocksmith 2014 from him for less than half of the flash deal price. Everything he sends are gifts too, so no sketchy key redemptions.

One of us! One of us! Although myself and Grandmaster B still have PS4 as well. I think it's just me and Rob with the Wii U.

Alan, you still have two functional kidneys, right? I know a guy... You could most likely get enough for the Kinect bundle. Text me if interested. You have my number.

WiiU or Bust.

Seriously though, I'll probably get it around the time NHL comes out. Nothing is really out yet that makes me want to head out the door ASAP.

Drunk Post cause of horrible hockey.

Yeah, We have the original team back for 15 for NHL. Makes me so happy! Also, thanks to Rob, I am so addicted to papers, please. No idea what draws me in to keep playing. I said today, ok one more hour. That turned into 3 hours of checking people's papers. I don't get it. It's like crack.

Wow, Nether is up for the community vote on Steam. It'll be $3.00 if that group wins. I know the game doesn't have an incredible amount of depth to it, but for that price, I'd probably grab it since it's an interesting environment and it does some cool things.

That's what I would think. Just seemed weird to be advertising it in such a public way. "Hey people breaking Microsoft's TOS! Look what you can do!!!" lol

At least it'll be cool on PC, haha.

So...Nether?

Edit:NVM, looks like Nate got on it.

Looks like Brandon and I got in on Castle Crashers, its a fun game if anyone else is interested. 4 player brawler, reminiscent of the old Ninja Turtle games.

Yeah...Nether is just a curiosity more than anything. The first review for it on Steam is pretty hilarious. But knowing that going in...and paying only $3 was good enough to "try it". At the very least, I'll use it for entertainment, run around like an idiot, and see how quickly I get sniped.

I've got both Castle Crashers and Battleblock Theater on 360. I never finished CC, and I haven't even touched BT yet. I'm having trouble figuring out where to draw the line with the double dipping. In a lot of ways, I wish I had never bought anything on 360, lol.

Definitely not making the same mistake with the One. If it's not a sports game, a system exclusive, or some other unforseen "must have", I'll wait for a Steam sale to get it on PC. The difference in prices is just astonomical. I was at least able to do that with Rocksmith 2014. Amazon still sells it for $40, Steam just had it for $14.99...and I got it from a reseller for $7. The One is great and all...but it won't ever be able to touch that.

Oh, God...here we go, lol.

They've got 4 awards already.

And in case anybody didn't know, Bergeron won the cover vote. This will probably sound bad, but I really really wanted a black guy to win just so anybody who doesn't follow hockey would see the game and go "Wait....WTF???" lol.

Well, EA was pretty much the only company to bring a non-racing sport game...so they kinda win all the awards by default. CheapyD didnt have kind words for the game either on the most recent CAGCast.

His Goldberg impression is pretty spot-on

Good God...I don't trust anything on the internet anymore. I'm up to almost 100 fights online now, and I've never seen anything remotely close to the crap in that video. The most bizarre things I've had were the weird leg sweep, bounce roll by Anderson Silva (the video I posted), and then one time when I was getting smashed with ground and pound and the ref called for a stand up. My fighter got up, walked back toward the center of the cage, and then just fell over KO'd. But none of this crazy physics body convulsions or grappling with nobody stuff. It makes me wonder what people are doing to get these results.

I feel like you've got EA on one side trying to make the game look like the greatest thing since Jesus. And then on the other side, you've got trolls on Youtube looking for "lulz" at how "broken everything is". And at the end of the day, both camps are full of shit. I'm pretty sure everybody is a liar and everybody has an agenda. lol...how's that for being cynical? :)

Train Simulator 14 is a daily deal today. So, naturally, I take a curious look at the DLC. Awesome...the New York-New Haven DLC is 40% off! And it's STILL $24, lol. Damn you, Train Simulator. Still too rich for my blood.

I see both Gary and Rob have the base game on their wishlist though. That's at least 85% off at $8.24...and possibly even cheaper if you ask Krugozor about it. Hmm...maybe I'll see what price he can get on that NY-NH DLC.

Ah, man...I tell ya, if you ever need a laugh, there's probably not much better than watching somebody play a really hard platforming game. After finishing up the Thomas Was Alone DLC yesterday (which isn't that bad), I started looking at that vvvvvv game.

Watching people playing it on Youtube...you just see the rage slowly building (well..more quickly in some people, haha). Here are a few of my favorites.

Rooster Teeth Rage Quit

Does surprisingly well up until about 20:00. Just skip there to see him lose his mind, lol

Well, while I can't exactly take that article seriously with it being full of spelling and grammatical errors, I'll at least address his premise.

DIY Rift knock offs have been around almost as long as the Rift itself...most of them based around inserting a smartphone into some type of 3D printed plastic casing (or, yes...even cardboard). What most of these boasters fail to mention is that they're entirely limited by the capabilities of the phone. Here's one of the earliest makers I remember reading about almost a year ago: https://www.durovis.com/index.html

So, for one...you're only going to be playing games available on Android or iOS. One of the most common test games for these systems is Doom...yes, the original Doom. Meanwhile, the Rift will be playing Unreal Engine 4 games in 1080p with full 6 degrees of motion in less than 30 days (rumored ship date for DK2 is 7/15).

And honestly, if something better than the Rift could be produced with cardboard and a cellphone, why would Facebook invest $2 billion in it? MAYBE you could argue this option is more convenient (by way of being cheaper...and more portable). But saying it's "better' is not even close to true...at least from a technological standpoint (and saying something is "better" is a lot different than saying "I like it better").

As ironic as it sounds, the Facebook Oculus Rift is more in line with the actual vision of VR (super powerful, top end graphics, adaptable)...while Google or any other smartphone equivalent VR is going to be like the Angry Birds of VR (cheap, limited, played in bursts), lol. I guess it wouldn't shock me that people might prefer a shittier, cheaper version...but for people who actually have an interest in VR as something more than a fad, there's no comparison.

Another problem I have with the article is the guy talks about having pre-ordered the DK2. And his only mention of actually trying the DK1 is at Google's booth. If Google is controlling the experience people are getting on the Rift while showing off their own "product", it wouldn't be terribly surprising for them to paint the Rift in a poor light (and man...you can fuck up some games in the Rift, lol. I've almost made myself sick many a times).

On top of that...the fact that he's so impressed by what can be done with a smartphone and Android/iOS games, that he cancels his DK2 pre-order doesn't make him sound like much of a PC gamer to begin with. And if he's not much of a PC gamer, why was he ordering a developer's kit? I don't know, just too many holes in the story for me...and maybe somebody who shouldn't be looking at the Rift anyway.

Nevermind, last paragraph confirms he's not even into games...but wanted a Rift to "develop something in VR". I guess that's fine on a very superficial consumer level. But I still think for many of the major uses (gaming, medicine, military, science, and most importantly, porn lol)...a PC will be involved in some form.

Saw this on Operations Sports.

PREVIEW: NHL 15
PS3PS4X360XOne
24 June 2014
PREVIEW: NHL 15

I’ve gone into great detail about the improvements to NHL 15 in its move to current-gen systems this year, but all of that doesn’t necessarily mean the game will play well. Thankfully, I can guarantee beyond any shadow of a doubt that NHL 15 looks, plays and feels as close to the real game as possible.

It’s amazing, you guys, and well worth the wait.

I started a game with a fellow journalist, pitting the Montreal Canadiens against the LA Kings. Naturally, this Canadian ex-pat picked his home country’s team. As the game loaded, we were shown an exterior of the Bell Centre, home of the Canadiens, as NBC Sports’ graphics and sound were thrown up on-screen. I honestly forgot for a second as the TV screen in front of me then switched to NBC’s Emrick and Olzcyk, followed by a shot of Kings’ goalie Quick warming up that I was about to play a hockey game rather than watch one.

As the puck dropped – and this EASHL defenceman lost the faceoff, naturally – I immediately noticed the details. The blades of my skates cut the ice, causing shards to fly up in the air as I cornered. The players that I didn’t control actually played their positions in a way I’ve never seen before. They didn’t stand still, nor circle in a set position, but rather skated to where I would as a player seeing what was ahead of me. It was breathtaking.

Hits were brutal; players were absolutely destroying one another, arms and legs flying everywhere. In one particular hit, both players smashed into each other and fell to the ice, legs intertwined. The players struggled to get back up, jostling and kicking each other to get free. A spectacle then ensued as the puck was shot underneath the pair and a Canadien tried to get the puck free. A King skated in a bit too fast in retaliation and ended up tripping on the three scrambling for the puck. The King flew through the air in a half-flip as he collided with the ice hard. Both of us playing paused for a moment to appreciate how amazing the sight was.

The puck eventually freed, I passed it ahead to an open player near the Kings’ blue line and skated alongside the boards, waiting for a player to free himself up in the slot. Finally seeing Subban open (and pinching), I passed the puck and let off a crackin’ one-timer, just beating Quick high on the glove side. The puck rang off both inside posts and flipped through the air as it shot out the opposite side of the net. The referee called it a goal, and Subban lost his mind, achieving a 1-0 lead on the Kings. The slow motion replay of the goal clearly showed that the puck had fully crossed the red line, so the decision stuck. It was glorious.

As we were watching the replay, the other journalist and I took turns commenting on little details we couldn’t focus on while playing. The puck marks all up and down the goal posts. The way that Subban’s jersey fluttered in the breeze as he wound up for a slapshot. The Kings fan in a sea of Canadiens' ones, seated and unmoving as those around him rose to their feet in excitement.

The best part? Soon, you won’t have to take my word on my skills. Think of epic moments like that, combined with the Share functionality on PS4 or the "Xbox, record that" prompt on Xbox One. We’re going to see some absolutely ridiculous clips from a game that really behaves as the game does on the ice itself.

Sure, you could stick to last-gen versions of NHL 15 and still get the quite decent version running on NHL 14’s engine – with ’94 Anniversary mode still included – but you’d absolutely be missing out. If you’re a hockey fan and undecided on whether or not to take the plunge on a new console, look no further: NHL 15 is your excuse.

That's definitely encouraging...though I kinda think this year's game is going to be tough to assess. Being the first on XB1/PS4 AND having new announcers, plus real life arenas...I feel like it's going to automatically get a pass on lots of things. And maybe that's enough to actually deserve one. I mean, I really, really hope the gameplay improvements are legit...but at least these are tangible things. And in a way, these improvements make me look at the last few years of the game and wonder what the hell they spent so much time on, lol.

The one I noticed in the whole article was the kicking part. Call me cynical, but NO. Not even in beer league do we kick each other to stand up. That's so God damn dangerous! Maybe I just have to see the video though. However, that is nice to see. Once HBOGO and 15 hit the X1, the 360 is done for. I just stick around for Friday Night Hickey!

Also, that article I posted is full of errors. I do think it will be a whole new world for VR. Maybe a "Hey, don't want to spend $400 on a FBR? (Facebook Rift, Im trademarking it now) Give ours a try and maybe it will open up your mind to VR even more"

I like to think it as this, you get a pre built computer. Everything is fun and you're having a grand time. So you want to play more advanced stuff. You say, Well time to upgrade! That's at least how I'm perceiving it right now. Now if Google can go crazy, praise be to them. I just know I ordered my kit for $10 bucks. I get to see if I like VR and if it will make me puke or not. But let's not forget the first ever VR arcade machine! http://cdn2.bigcommerce.com/server1600/5df50/products/4593/images/3932/VR_Vortek_V3_99-01__62036.1319671489.1280.1280.jpg?c=2

I agree with you completely. The cheap smartphone option for VR is a great way to expose people to it without a huge commitment. At this point, there's so many people who still haven't even been able to try it, it probably still seems imaginary to a lot of people. I've used Google Earth/Streetview in the Rift, and it's pretty awesome. If that's all somebody is looking for...just "traveling" to different places, then yeah...you don't need a $300 VR HMD and a $800 PC.

I guess it would just make me sad if the majority of the population didn't see the potential beyond that. The stuff that is being done with the Rift on a high level is pretty incredible. Using it for drone operations, therapy for amputees before being fitted for their prosthetics, space exploration, at home iMAX theaters (this is truly awesome...one of my favorite things), etc. But yeah, the more people that are able to try VR, the better. Because it's really like that virgin in college who's all like "What's the big deal about sex? I mean, come on..." Until you've tried it, you just don't know, lol :)

Also, we can only hope they added the Capoeira kick to NHL 15

Something funny....I beat vvvvvv last night. And while it was challenging in spots, I never got mad at it the way I do at NHL, lol. For some reason, I feel like there's a difference between losing because you screwed up and losing because the game screwed you over. Whenever I'd die, it was easy to see where I made a mistake. So, it never really frustrated me. It was a really odd feeling.
