Producer Sean Ramjagsingh told me that the AI in this game was built from the ground up. The result was a slightly sloppier -- but by that virtue, more realistic -- experience.

Also wonderful to hear, EA considers this AI sloppier.  This should be entertaining.

I also love how they keep talking year after year about taking out cross creases.  Yes, that is the main problem is setting up a pass to an open player out in front.  Not the AI standing still at center ice as everyone skates past them.  Or the backhand shots from the point with no screen beating the goalie consistently.

Bullshit meter just went off the charts and then broke.

"Ramjagsingh told me he frequents Xbox Live in order to get a feel for how gamers were consistently scoring, which helps him know what adjustments needed to be made for ’15"

It's like like they're trying to give me a fucking aneurysm, lol.

That or just break our reading devices with anger. Sadly, EA has a lock on three sports. MMA,Hockey and Football. I just wish sometime down the future. Somebody challenges them. I really do. If I ever hit the lottery, I'll buy a 2k team to develop a game for the NHL. We just need a new developer really. 2k10 wasn't amazing by any degree, but it's sad when 2k14 gives nhl 14 a run for its money. A 2 dollar game, I play more than nhl 14. It goes to show how much the masses were drinking the EA Kool Aid. Now, we have no other options.

Didn't we explicitly joke about them making the goalies "live" again and bragging about it as a new feature? I was skeptical last night, but this sounds almost exactly like what they were saying about NHL 13.

And I guess that's the scary thing. We've pretty much heard all of those promises before (things that this trailer claims "were never possible possible"). So, basically, it's like "Remember all those things we said were in the game before? We were lying! But this time we really mean it! And the game is awesome!" So, you kind of just have to hope that eventually they're not going to be full of shit, lol.

Also, I posted this right away on EA's Facebook, but if they're going to push "sloppy scrambles" and "any bounce can change a season", penalties better be freaking called right. If we see that nonsense of goalies being pushed out of the net again for goals and players just throwing themselves at the front of the net hoping for stupid bounces, then the game is going to be broken as hell. Those 4 referees better have their damn eyes open.

At least somebody on the EA forums gets it, haha.

More unpredictability with the overwhelming amount of unbalance already in this game?

Better be prepared for even more flop goals since goalies look just as horrible as they've always been.

Can't wait to be in ot 90% of my games with a player I've quadrupled in time on attack, pass attempts, scoring chances, etc

Yet all they do is cross the blue line and flop a little wrister on net. Which will, I guarantee you, be rewarded at a much higher percentage than actually setting up plays that'll result in spiderman saves

Good luck trying to power through this. After two minutes I put it on mute and just tried to watch the gameplay footage. Loving the Doc and Eddie Green Screen stuff.

LMAO...2:35. He's amazed at playing with no helmet. Man, I just don't understand why people try to report on stuff that they don't know anything about. I mean, I give him credit. He actually did better than a lot of people I've seen at least trying to talk about things he can understand (ie. responsiveness), rather than being phony as hell and saying something like "it seemed to me that you really captured the stick mechanics". Ah, but the helmet part actually made me laugh.

Yeah, I just smacked my head and put it on mute after that, I do love the NBC presentation, crowd and the three man hug. Looks great, but time will tell as usual.

Oh, so you missed when he gave the shoutout to his sister at the end because the game comes out on her birthday? I don't know why, but I actually enjoyed that interview. I guess because I expect Ramjagbama to just spew bullshit anyway. So, having somebody completely unqualified asking him about his game was amusing. It's like "fuck it...you're not going to say anything worthwhile anyway. Might as well make you wear my championship belt."

But yeah, like I said before...I think they finally have changed enough visual and audio things that even if the game plays the same as NHL 14...it'll still feel like a different game. That's kind of shitty in and of itself...but I guess it really makes you realize how little has changed the past several years. I mean...they've been using the same commentary for 6 years. You'd think they were only charging $10 for the game or something because all those profits sure as hell weren't going back into development.

Roosterteeth did another video for 7 days to die.  They had read that a glitch with water creates a shadow that allows zombies to move faster so they built a trench around their house in the dirt and a wall above the trench.

Skip to about the 50:00 mark to see how that works.

They've only released new environment screenshots since the last time we've talked about it

According to the blog, New update should be hitting soon, beta version is up already. It will also have new locations.

Different strokes for different folks.
If you like taking pictures in Forza, taking pictures in American Truck is going to be nuts.

I still want an "Ice Road Truckers" DLC though, haha. Something with treacherous roads. That's probably part of why that Spintires game looks so interesting.

Id be all over that if I didnt already own most those movies.

Also, just got the "hey, we're shipping soon, so make sure you have money in your accout so that we get pizz-aid" email from oculus :whee:

Haha, it's an awesome feeling, isn't it, Alan? I got the email too. From what I read on the Oculus forum, they delayed the initial shipment by one week...so instead of it going out this week, i guess it's going to be next week. Of course, with it being the internet, that led to people freaking out and conspiracy theorizing.

No one has any idea how many DK2's are in that "initial shipment' either....but Oculus did say it wouldn't have any effect on future shipments or the total number of DK2's shipped for July. So, that's good at least. Hopefully it means we'll both be getting a shipment email soon.

In other news...getting on for hockey fun times.

Where's the vehicles in the photos! That's why I take them in Forza. I pick a car I love or actually had and just try to get the right lighting. Anyways, No hockey for 3 weeks. On the plus side, Rob and I are going out on the town Spider Style! Brought the Xbox one and and no bandwidth caps. I love you Nate. 😀

Yeah, well. I don't have broadband...I have huskyband. It's not my fault. Enjoy your vacation, Gary. Push Rob into the goalie while you're there so it'll feel just like Friday nights.

Gotta bust some balls since EA is just going to hurt you guys all night. ☺

The Huskybanders. I like it ! What did we say last weekend?

Nice Alan! I love looking and sharing photos. Maybe we could get a forza one going if anybody else has Forza.

Thanks guys! I'll be back for a nus rapping in 3 weeks!

Rob posted this in the Madden league thread, but I thought I'd share it in here for anybody who doesn't check that thread...but for a game that comes out only 2 weeks before NHL, it feels like we're seeing A LOT more of Madden. Maybe that's because it is the 2nd Madden on XB1/PS4...but still, I really hope the NHL team has some good footage to show us soon. Because the things they're talking about and showing with Madden look pretty freaking amazing.

I can't even count the number of times they talk about "this used to be an exploit..." or "the community asked for this..." No guarantees that the game will be good, of course. But I'm impressed with what they're doing. EA Canada needs to take notes.

Well, on their Facebook page they called it "a big coloring book", but yeah...I don't know the story behind it either. Maybe just a fun activity for kids during the summer. I would guess the attitude is "Who gives a fuck? We'll put the ice back to normal in two weeks anyway."

Personally, I still love the gold ice, haha. It looks like a Nerf hockey rink...like you should bounce if you fell on it, lol.

Also known as a EA Ice rink.

The graffiti ice rink I do t mind as it let's the community write stuff on the ice. Don't mind it. Gold Ice? Just ridiculous.

Saw this and though of you Nate.
Yup, so awesome.

And any songs that were previously purchased for the three Dance Central titles on Xbox 360 will be available free for Spotlight owners, once Harmonix brings those tracks to Xbox One.
The one hiccup in reading this is "once Harmonix brings those tracks to Xbox One". Obviously, the back catalog isn't going to be available from the get go, but it does make me wonder how long it'll take them to get some of those songs into the game. I guess it's entirely possible that they could use that as a carrot to entice people to recommit to the series, and then only trickle out an old song here and there.

But I also trust Harmonix a decent amount. Overall, they did a pretty amazing job with Rock Band/Dance Central. I really can't think of many instances where they screwed people over. The biggest one I can think of would be removing "Give It Away" and "Any Way You Want It" when you imported Rock Band 2 songs to Rock Band 3..but considering the way music licensing is, something like that was bound to happen at some point. A lot more stuff has been removed from the RB store lately, but that's not surprising since the series has been dormant for 4 years.

Makes me wonder what type of deals they have in place to continue to offer these other songs...especially moving forward on XB1/PS4.

Well over in the ps4 thread they get a person for every NHL team I guess and they all play a whole season against each other. I thought u guys might want to do that for the xbox one also.
Maybe gmconnected not sure haven't played an nhl game in a couple years but I call the Blues! :)

Ah, yeah...that's GM Connected. We generally try to do a league every year. Before NHL 13, it was just a very basic league format...where each member would play every other member a set number of times. It was very simple and lacked a lot of the offline features. In NHL 13, they added the full GM experience to online. Unfortunately, this also kind of ruined leagues since the only option it allowed for was playing a full 82 game season.

Most of us only made it through one season of that in NHL 13. It kind of burned everybody out playing so many games in such a short period of time. This past year, we tried again, playing only games against teams in the same conference and simming the rest. This still made for a 45-50 game season (which is still an incredible number compared to almost any other online sports league). It sort of worked, but wasn't a perfect situation since it meant half of your season was being decided by the CPU.

I'm HOPEFUL that NHL 15 will have an option for playing a shorter season, but I'm not holding my breath. I'm definitely waiting to hear more about the gamemodes before committing to anything...since I'm really not sure how many people would be interested in doing either of the options we tried before. Truth be told, most of us wished they'd just bring back the simple "play everybody twice" league system that they used to have. It was lacking in features, but at least it was reasonable to get through it.

Ha...just brainstorming this out loud gave me an idea. IF EA messes it up again this year and playing 82 games is the only option, we could just say screw it and plan to only play one season. At least doing that would allow us to play along with the real NHL season, and we'd finish with one champion at the end of the year. I honestly think I'd rather do that than try to rush through 82 games and get burned out OR sim half the games and not have much control.

Cool. I hope they have shorter seasons if not I'd rather not rush through it real fast because I still want to play ultimate team mode I think also. But I definitely want in if we do that. I'd just get it on ps4 but my friend says he's planning on getting this game also.

Yeah, that was almost exactly the issue. We tried playing an 82 game season in 3 months...which meant people were playing 7+ games a week (which doesn't sound like a ton, but when you're trying to line up schedules with human opponents, it's basically impossible). And then people still wanted to play Ultimate Team or EASHL...which created a scenario where you were playing NHL every time you sat down to play a video game. And 3 months of that burned people out very quickly. Hopefully EA will do a better job this year.
