Impressions coming soon.
Sweet...if you're still on when Im done downloading I'll send you a message to play.

good news I will be DL 2night and being willing to get some multiplayer in around 11pm est, if I can get it DL in under 2 hours that is

Just fucked around with the demo and damn is this game awesome.

This is the first game that really makes me feel I am on an alien ship. The graphics are great. The portals are a pure mindfuck and the game scares the shit out of me.

Plus all of the interactivity with the environment is old school 3D Realms.

I'll be jumping on multiplayer in a little bit.

I will be downloading this later tonight and would love to play some multiplayer if anyone is online playing. But it will not be to later because I am going to the movies.

Are we playing the same game?

The graphics are late xbox at best, it's just slightly better than Doom 3 and Riddick. The main character annoys the hell out of me (hey guy, we get it - you have no clue what's going on - shut up now), the enemies barely react when shot at other than a simple flinch (I love how the guy just kinda flinches after I hit him in the head with a wrench), the "interactive environment" consists of an on-screen cursor playing video poker and the ability to spin a barstool and interactive computer screens similar to Doom 3. The voicework of the main character is flat ("oh... my... god".. in a sarcastic tone). The guns look cool (but are more or less the same guns in every other game), the portals are pretty mindfuck and the wall walking is alright, but this thing screams Doom 3 with different enemies, slightly better graphics and a gimmick that leaves the game pretty dull.

And what part scared the shit out of you? The only thing scary here is that the walls are glossy and tend to make shit sounds when an alien pops out. If this scares you, please, steer way clear of Fatal Frame and Silent Hill.

I'll give it a rent, I guess, but there's no way i'll get this at launch.

It seems that the server is taking a beating, because now I can't enter multiplayer ("The connection was lost"). Maybe I will wait until later on tonight, because it was laggy when I could play earlier.
fuckin' finally!

Downloading now

Does it have a shit load of content or is it 1.17 GB because it's really poorly compressed?
Poorly compressed.. single and multiplayer.

If your connection dies, just exit out of the demo and restart it. RSA's server just died. I'm playing right now. It reminds me a lot of Unreal Tournament (on PC).. that's a good thing.

I'm so glad to hear this. I've been wanting a fast paced run n gun shooter for the 360.

86% now!

You won't be disappointed, then. I'm going to send you an invite.

At most I'd give the console version a 6.5 - 7/10 and that's just because the multiplayer mode reminds me of my favorite run n' gun game Unreal Tournament. As I said before..run of the mill game.

Late Xbox at best? I guess we are playing a different game because there is no way the original Xbox could run this the way the 360 does.

I agree with the wrench thing. I wish HHS would have paid attention to Condemned. They got melee weapons down perfect.

Interactive environment is being able to actually change channels on the tv, using the soap dispenser on the wall, flipping the lid to the toilet and a whole bunch of other shit reacting the way you would expect it to when you interact with it. And there is more then video poker there is also video slots, jukebox (when didn't work in the demo  ) and a working Pac Man sim.

Guess I should have mentioned I scare easily in games. Doom III freaked me out and Fatal Frame scarred me for life. :D

Are you seriously hyped about flipping lids on toilets and pushing soap dispensers on the wall?

The jukebox works on the demo, btw.

Who said I was seriously hyped about that? I was just pointing out that the spirit of 3D Realms is in this game.

Really? I guess me having my custom soundtrack paused caused it not to work. Guess I'll have to fire it back up and see.

Yea 3drealms games always had a little odd-ball interactivity that was their trade mark. I'd be sad if this game was 100% serious, and left out all the crap I loved from like Duke Nukem and Shadow Warrior. You need just a little humor in there.Anyway. I LOVE the single player portion, the mp, is "eh", but I can live with it. It's more like playing a late 90's FPS than anything, fun, but not what I pre-ordered the game for. I can't wait until the week after next, so i can pick this crap up.

I just played a few matches of multiplayer. It is pretty fun. Still hasn't won me over, but I guess that is because I have not really cared for FPS, especially on consoles. I am really looking forward to some CAGers to hand me my ass.

Downloading now. I'm at work, so I hope it'll be done by the time I get home... (probably not)

Played about 4-5 rounds with Scorch and Xecutioner...I found it to be pretty fun, but I still need to learn all the uses for the weapons.

I'll be picking it up on day 1.
Yeah, that part wasn't towards you, sorry about that. You actually offered one of the more objective opinions.

Well like many have said, it's hard to find a game with a pretty cool/awesome storyline, so many times I have to settle with just the top FPS to get my shooting fix. Tried Halo and Halo 2 and like many people, just went to multiplayer after a while because the single player got boring. As of late, my favorite shooter has been Far Cry: Instincts Predator because the story keeps me playing for hours and hours, plus it always keeps me on the edge of my seat.
Fair enough. What's a little ironic is that I bailed on Far Cry Instincts: Predator near the end of the first campaign. I thought the story was predictable and lame, and while I really liked the early steathy forest levels, I kinda felt that it pretty much went down hill from the beginning and ended up being exactly the "run of the mill" type shooter you feel Prey is. All's cool though. Different strokes...

I'm DL'ing now. I'll be on to try a little mp later. I kinda feel that with most FPS games, a great campaign is a bonus. If the mp knocks it out of the park, the game's a winner. Halo 2 is a great example of that. I enjoyed the campaign, but it's by no means the reason it stayed in my xbox for nearly a year....

I'm really digging it. The portals can be confusing some times but for the most part it's a fun game. I'm digging it. Haven't played multiplayer yet.

for the people that say they are at work... i am wondering how are you guys downloadin it? remotly somehow? or did you just start it before you left? because if you could remotly download stuff that would be t3h shit

I for one am happy I have it pre-ordered. Sure, it's not the greatest game ever, but it's a solid FPS and there ain't much new out on any console right now. I'd agree with a 7/10. Didn't try out the multiplayer yet though.

Called home and had my mom start it. ;)

So far....eh its ok. To me another generic FPS. I'll agree with the 7/10, and that would be the highest it would get out of me. Thats even pushing it a little. Multiplayer is fun...but for $60 i dont think its worth it. Graphic wise the game looks pretty good in HD, nothing amazing though.
Called home and had my mom start it. ;)
That's tight that your mom knows how to do that. If I'd ask my mom that there'd be no way in hell she could do that for me. Lucky you.

Really, really looks like crap compared to the PC version. Makes it even harder to consider paying $10 more for the same game running on nearly the same hardware for mere achievements and high-def. PC Limited Edition preorder for me.

I really wasn't all to impressed. It seemed to try too hard to seem like a bad ass FPS and the Doom 3 Engine is looking pretty outdated already.:whistle2:?

yeah i wasnt super impressed either, seems ecactly like quake 4 with the engine. aliens, and wierd guns... pretty much looks exactly the same

I had fun with some CAGs. I have yet to try out the single player part because I am a vagina. I probably will later today after I sleep and it is daylight out. Again, I am a big pussy when it comes to creepy, jumpy scares.
That's tight that your mom knows how to do that. If I'd ask my mom that there'd be no way in hell she could do that for me. Lucky you.
Oh, she doesn't know how. I had to walk her through it, the whole way.

It took me 3 minutes to explain how to turn on the console. ;)
yeah i wasnt super impressed either, seems ecactly like quake 4 with the engine. aliens, and wierd guns... pretty much looks exactly the same
sure it looks the samebut have you been flipped upside down like 5 times in a row, walked on walls, shot through portals, and killed dudes to Heart songs in any other game?

I like it, but I'm not blown away either. It's solid and fun. I enjoyed Doom 3, and I think this will be a little better in terms of variety. I can see a lot of potential in it, and I hope the vehicle sequences and puzzles will be a lot of fun. I like having to search the environment and pay attention to the surroundings a little more than the typical FPS. Overall gameplay is tight. Graphics are pretty good, but I'm a lot more impressed with the artistic style and detail than the graphics themselves. Human character models aren't the greatest. Melee definitely could've taken a chapter from Condemned. The wrench feels a little useless. IGN's remarks do state that the graphics and puzzle element become more impressive as the game progresses.

Multi-player is fun and dissorienting with the wall walking and spirit walking adding some fun twists to the genre. I got a little lag in the games I played, and couldn't connect most of the time I tried. I hope this is a demo bug that doesn't show up in the final version.

I'd probably agree with a 7 score for the demo. 7.5 maybe... I'm still hoping for more like an 8.5 from the overall package. I'll be keeping my pre-order and looking forward to it.

Having played the PC demo a lot I was very surprised to see how much different the 360 version looked. Also there were less options. I was playing in the same room as the kids (same as when the PC demo came out) so I chose to turn off all the bad language on the PC demo, well that option was not on the 360 version.

Other than that though the game felt different than the PC version, I am not just a hyper huge FPS fan on PC, I have played a load of them but I would opt for a 360 version before the PC in most cases. Here though with the differences I think I might be getting this on PC. I would rather have it on the 360 though due to achievement points and 5.1 system and large TV.

Multiplayer is better than I expected, but it seems to lag half the time. Still, everyone running around on walls and ceilings is fun.

I am personally sick of this game engine. It only looked good in Doom 3. Impressive, however, is the level of presentation. I could turn on the hot and cold water in the bathroom? Awesome. I also think the portals and wall-and-ceiling-walking add a whole new level of strategy. It's too bad the characters in multiplayer move too fast.

Best part of the game - the jukebox in the bar. I couldn't care less about Ted Nugent, but that album cover cracks me up every time.
