Ok 2 things Roufuss, and I'm not trying to turn this into anything cause you're generally one of the people I like around here (of which there are few people):
1) Have you even played the game yourself or are you just going on the reviews? Further, if you have played it, did you play anything more than the demo?
2) Why do you hate this game so much? It seems like in every thread about this game (which brings up the question of why are there 3 threads but that's another issue), you have nothing but negative things to say about it. Didn't your momma ever teach you the addage, if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all?
Like I said, I'm not trying to start a flame war or argument, I'm just curious.
I played it, it's highly mediocre IMO (not just the demo, either)... I was really hyped up for it, they worked on this game for years, and I really expected something great. I felt this same way about Quake 4... something they hyped up and fell short of what I expected.
At this point, I mostly blame the Doom 3 engine, it looks nice but I just don't think it's on par to the superior engines out there, espically in the AI dept.
Prey would have been great if it really did come out a long time ago... hell, it might have been revolutionary. But now it stands up against games like Half Life 2, F.E.A.R, Call of Duty 2, SiN Episodes (which gave me 6 - 7 hours for $10).
I didn't try multiplayer, but the fact it only shipped with DM / Team DM was a disappointment... it's like, what the hell were these people working on the last couple of years? I expect Duke Nukem Forever is going to come out with like 2 hours of gameplay.
My last comment wasn't something against Prey, more along the lines of everyone always using "PC Gaming sucks because you have to patch games as soon as they come out to get them running", but now we're seeing the same things on the 360 (which makes me kind of sad, because it means developers will get lazy like they did on the PC, which I hope Microsoft dosen't allow).
Maybe I am a bit too vocal for my own good, but I just don't want someone to rush out and blow $60 / $70 ($70, wow, insanity). But hey, maybe Multiplayer really is that good... I'll know once the PC version drops down to $20 - $30 by Christmas and I'll give the game a spin.
Believe me, I wanted this game to be something great, more than anyone.
