Since the Southern CA Thread is up, I figured it might be a good idea to post a thread for the locals of the Bay Area. Maybe we can do some face-to-face trades, make posts of inventory in various local stores, post any local sales, etc.

Send me a PM and I will put your name on the list below (PM's are easier for me to keep track of everyone). I will send you a confirmation when I put your name on the list.:
Anyone else applying for this? I wouldn't mind taking a day off work to play Bionic Commando. (Please, let it be Bionic Commando.)

The toughest part is listing the games I've played in the last six months. Am I going to scare them off if I give a colossal list?
Ugh, I would totally sign up for that, but I'm busy that day. :/

I'd rather it be Resident Evil 5 or Street Fighter 4 (most likely to me). Dunno if it's worth getting off work early and driving down there for, hmm..
Just got a call from Capcom saying I'm confirmed for tomorrow. :]
Secret in-depth reports, pls.
I didn't sign up.
Do you get anything?
All I know is there will be "snacks." A nerdy blue and yellow CAPCOM shirt would be sweet, though. Actually, so far the best gift out of this is that my boss didn't even care. I was like, "yeah, I'll be out in the afternoon to go to Capcom" and he just thought it was awesome. I was surprised.

:whistle2:$

So Street Fighter 4 was pretty fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, it turned out to be two PSN/XBLA games I had never even heard of. :[ Disappointing, but still fun to hang out and play a LAN game with a bunch of people. The funniest thing was they had a couple SSF2T HD kiosks in the lobby (powered off, unfortunately, so we couldn't even watch) and people were begging to play it before we went into the testing room. The Capcom guys said if we started playing that, we wouldn't want to do the actual test. :D

Not going to say much about the first game because they had a certain affinity for NDAs.

But the second game I think is OK to mention because there wasn't explicitly on the NDA. It was Commando 3, and it was decent fun. Reminded me a lot of old arcade military shooters, like Mercs. I actually looked it up afterward and Mercs is a sequel to the original Commando, so the familiarity then made a lot of sense. Knowing that it's basically Mercs 2 gives the game a lot more cred, but I don't know if I'll end up buying it even with 3-player online co-op. (Hopefully Capcom's ninjas aren't coming to kill me now... I'm pretty sure all those details were already out there.)

Oh, and I got a big bag of goodies... DMC4 shirt and poster, RE Essentials for PS2, a can of RE "Revive" energy drink, the Lost Planet guide, Harvey Birdman for PS2, and a POOGIE. (Like the one they gave out with Monster Hunter Portable 2 preorders, but with a different coat.) And we all got to pick if we wanted DMC4 for PS3 or 360. I got the PS3 version... too bad I have little interest in the series. I'm gonna figure out how to give some of this stuff away.

:applause:

If there's another one of these down the road, keep us updated so we can all try and sign up again.

I'll definitely mention it here. Capcom will probably announce it on their blog as well, so check that, too. I've got it in my RSS now.

Hm...I gotta figure out how to sell my stuff too...

To the PW people who PMed me: You guys gotta be more specific...

Anyone here interested in anime goods? Like little goodies or promo items? I recently went to Japan and got some stuff, and some stuff I've collected over the years.

I was a rabid FF7 fan back in 1997, but the thought of trying to be one of the first 200 in line to something like this these is really not appealing. Plus the prizes aren't too compelling, and since I usually get off work around 6, it's not really possible.

Still, as much as I dislike FF7 AC and the cult of FF7 in general, I haven't written off Crisis Core just yet. I'll wait for people's impressions to start showing up to decide whether to get it, but it does seem like it could be a decent game.
Hey, anyone going to the Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII launch party at the Metreon?

I wanna go for the free shirt.:D
Man... Would like to go, but then I'd have to book it to work right after. That sucks.

Anyone going to the COD4 tournament this Friday at Stevens Creek Gamestop? Me and my bro stopped by the Best Buy at Santana Row and there were 4-5 guys dressed in guille suits. Gave us both a flyer for the event and dog tags. Stopped by the actual Gamestop there to preorder Persona FES and the place looks awesome.

Grand prize is $1000 in Gamestop giftcards
First 100 people there will receive a token to download the new pack.
it's friday? i thought saturday. what time does it start?
Nope, it's Friday from 8:30-11:30 pm. I'm probably gonna show up around 7 or 7:30 to make sure I get a map token.

How does the rules work? Is the tourney for the xbox or ps3 version? But damn 1k, I would enter but I'm not good enough.

The flyer didnt say how it would work. I'm guessing it's probably gonna be free for all.

Also not sure about the 360/PS3 thing, flyer didnt say.

i'll probably be there tonight if i dont have anything planned. i just want the token :) i'll probably play if there are spots open

Thanks for adding me to the list!

As for anyone looking for the Metal Gear Solid Pre-order disc in San Jose/Santa Clara area, check out Game Crazy. :D

So I always see deals posted for FYE but didn't know there were any in the Bay Area until a few months ago. I finally went to the Redwood City store today and wow, weird. First of all, it's still got the exact same layout from when it was a Blockbuster Music years ago, so that was surreal. Second, probably 90% of the stuff there had a red USED sticker on it. Is that their thing? They only sell used stuff? They had a few new movies, but I didn't see a single new game in their tiny games section. I think I'm OK ignoring any future FYE deals unless it's through their Website.

On a side note, I happened to be browsing right next to the adult section and there was some guy who was very leisurely looking through pretty much every single porn movie. CREEPY.

the FYE in Newark also has many used video games. They have a smaller amount of new games but most of them suck anyway. Never any deals there so I don't bother going there anymore.

Hey guys. Remember when I said I was going to give away the stuff I got from Capcom, but then I was really busy for like three weeks? Well, I'm finally giving all of it away.

The list:

- Lost Planet BradyGames strategy guide for Xbox 360
- Resident Evil Essentials (RE4, RECV, RE Outbreak) for PS2
- Devil May Cry 4 t-shirt (Gildan heavy cotton, XL
npj76p.jpg
)

- Devil May Cry 4 for PS3

The only thing I'm charging for is DMC4, which is $40 shipped. For everything else, I'd appreciate $5 for shipping/my run to the post office, unless you want to pick it up in Palo Alto while I'm at work. Send me a PM if you're interested!

Has anyone had much luck locating a Wii? I've been around to every gamestop in SF and a couple of Best Buys around but no luck. Any one have any tips?

Capcom's having another open call for focus testers, for this Thursday:

The test is at here at Capcom’s San Mateo HQ, on Thursday, April 10 (that’s THIS Thursday), from 2pm - 4pm. To apply, send your name, age, phone number, and your preferred gaming platform (PS3, PC, 360, Wii, etc.) to [email protected]. You must be over 18 years old with valid ID to participate!

Not sure if I'll be able to make this one, but I'll probably send them an email just in case.

Remember, I'm still giving out some stuff from the last one a few posts up.

Blast.

That last Capcom meeting you went to, I was invited only to find out that they changed the time of the event. I could've gone last time but I got out of work right when the event would end.

Again, I would sign up for this but it's going to be at San Mateo (I'm in Sunnyvale) and I have a darn mid-term on Friday night which I have to study for...oh well. Maybe next time. :wall:

Yet another Capcom focus test, this time on Monday the 14th.

In order to tell us what you think, we need you here, at Capcom HQ, on Monday, April 14th. You need to be here from 1:30pm - 5pm. To apply, tell us which games you’ve purchased for 360, PS3, XBLA, or PSN in the last 3 months. Specify that you are applying for the April 14th session, and send it in to [email protected]. You must be at least 18 years old with valid ID to participate, and yes, there will be gifts for you. Fabulous gifts!

They say it's a different game than the one they're testing on Thursday.

I like how its a couple hours longer than Thursday's. Given the questions they ask, I'll wager it has something to do with Bionic Commando. I sent an email yesterday for Thurs, if I don't get picked I may try to get out of work for Monday.

Last time they sat us around a 360 LAN and had us play the game, with minimal instructions so they could observe how well we were able to figure things out. Then we filled out a short questionnaire about the experience, discussed the game with the developers, and the explained in detail how everything worked. After that we got to play a few more rounds with our newfound expertise. :)

I'm definitely intrigued by Monday's longer test, plus the PSN/XBLA question, but maybe I'm reading too much into that.
Hey metaly, if I was picked for tomorrow would I know by now?
I'm hoping they're just being slow because I haven't heard anything yet. They probably would have called or emailed by now, though.
