Be aware that not all Sears are alike, so prices are definitely YMMV.
List
  • date = date posted or updated
  • cp = current price
  • opp = old posted price
  • (oos) = out of system
  • * = posted at different prices (more than twice, most are)
Colors
  • white = current update
  • dark gray = old (ie. out of stock items)
if the prices are not updated in over a month, it will be colored as dark gray.

notes:
  • Don't turn this into your own trade list. Don't ask people if they want to trade X game for your Y game. PM is the best way to ask. Do your trading on the Sears Trade Thread.
  • Print UPC-A barcodes if you're having a hard time getting someone to open the cases for you. If you need UPCs refer to Half.com (just type the name of the game) or to io's kmart clearance thread. Go to either UPCDatabase.com or Barcodesinc.com to generate a UPC A barcode.
  • If you bring up a game and the employee scans it and does not show up in the system, it is most likely that the item has been pulled out of their inventory (most of us would call it 'out of system'). What this means is that the item must be returned to the manufacturer (so they were told anyways, but i don't believe it..). You can try to get them to sell it to you for the stickered price shown or maybe lower. It depends on the employee or manager.
  • Some of you are confused as to why some games are priced and rung up at retail prices but its listed below as clearanced at their respective clearance prices. Heres a good example:
    • 100607 ... 01.97 ... 09.97 ... Dead or Alive 4 (Non PH) *
    • ^^^^^ notice how the last reported price was October 6, 2007. The Platinum Hits version was also on clearance since it shared the Regular version's barcode. But they put the price back up in retail a few months later. Hence you still see the game now as retail instead of clearance.

Ok, found a couple more clearance items still at summer prices. I'm on vacation in Oahu, Hawaii (technically just a visit home cause I grew up here, I am posting this in my childhood bedroom). Folklore 2.97 and PS3 Quake Wars 2.97 at Pearl Ridge and Ala Moana SEARS. Otherwise its pretty picked through of the summer clearance stuff.
 
I got a great idea to make money! Stop spending the money you have on clearance games that you don't want! I know it sounds crazy but try it!

For all the people about to get pissed, I'm joking. I just had to say it though.

That's odd. I remember Ala Moana selling out of Folklore months ago. Can you be a little more specific about what's at where?

Actually, I'm not pissed at all. I had intended on playing all of the games I've picked up on clearance(Quake Wars, Folklore, etc, etc, etc), but due to my backlog getting very big and the return periods for them already having lapsed I couldn't return them. So, I got sick of seeing them collecting dust and ended up selling them since I couldn't otherwise get my money back for them.

Mind you, the $1.97 copy of GH: Aerosmith I bought for PS2 was just to sell, since I no longer own a PS2.

one of the reasons why i havent posted lately is im trying to cut off on compulsive buying at sears. anything thats $5 and less gets bought then it sits on my shelf. since these days i never get any playtime whats the point. just because its cheap doesn't always mean we should pick it up. if you think youre not gonna be able to play it, do yourself a favor and leave it for someone else to enjoy (whether a cag or just a regular shopper).

Like you, I had a backlog which was ridiculous. One day I just gave up and sold the games I figured I'd never play (buying my first PS3 next week thanks to GS 4/$20 deal).

Picking up games just because they were on clearance after awhile became an "addiction" and I had to cut myself loose. $2-15 games started becoming a $50-$60 a week "hobby" (not including gas and time). For me, the money could have been better spent on a great new release. I only pick up games I really want to play now (besides the ones I flip that have a high "purchase to TIV" ratio). Now, electronics is a whole different deal. :)

I'm at peace now XD. I'm finally getting a something "of true value" (instead of credit/currency which would of more than likely pay for more games) while keeping all of my PS3 exclusives (MGS4, LBP, EOJ and Disgae 3). Haven't played any of them so I'm really looking forward to it.

I'm not out of the game, just "slowing the boat down".

That's the thing though phear, is that I intended to play every one of those games, but aside from the few games I've completed out of my backlog(Uncharted, Batman: AA, Saint's Row 2, GTA IV)I keep going back to just playing GTA IV online whenever I have free time.

I still have games like Little Big Planet and Red Faction: Guerrilla to finish, yet I keep putting them off for more GTA.

It's sickening since I did the exact same last gen, though I did actually finish quite a few games then.

Even Mercenaries 2, which I couldn't wait for the release of, has sat unfinished since it was such a glitchy mess at times.

But probably the biggest blunder for me was buying an import copy of Demon's Souls back in June and not even finishing the first level of it 100%.
 
Picked up the 2 mic Lips at the Sears @ Valley View Center in Dallas, TX for $25. The Mrs is very pleased, for no other reason than we have 2 wireless mics for Beatles Rock Band.
 
For me I usually buy games that I only want to play, because not every game will sell, and some will drop below the price you paid on ebay so you may not want to pick up every clearance game. Of course just because its on clearance doesn't mean its a good deal. I picked up Pikmin because it was a game I wanted to play and getting a new Wii version is much better than getting an old cruddy one from GS plus I had a Sears gift card.

There is also the phenomenon that once a game goes on clearance through multiple stores (or sometimes even one store) the prices usually drop on ebay, because people are just looking to make a quick buck. Sometimes the prices drop below the clearance price because too many sellers flood the market, same thing if there are a lot of copies of the game you desire out there. Sometimes its better to buy from ebay with cashback and whatnot included, plus when I buy from ebay I don't pay any tax unless the seller charges tax, which is almost never.

I don't see this so much with Sears/Kmart clearance games but I do see it with games that are clearanced nationally at Target or another store.

Frankly I don't purchase many games that haven't dropped in price, the only time I purchase a full priced game is if its a Pokemon game or if I think the game is starting to get low on stock, and that is very rare these days. I did purchase Fishing master world tour Wii for full price 29.99 and I don't regret it a bit. Probably 2-3 full priced games a year for me.

I've got a bigger one, I pre-ordered Mass Effect and also picked up a Mass Effect 'coffee table' type book when it first game out....both are still in the shrinkwrap today.

I also have a PS2 copy of Psychonauts still in the shrinkwrap that I got from Circuit City for 5 bucks. I still want to play the game, but now I'm kinda thinking I should get a used one and eBay/CL the sealed one.

On topic, I havent CAG'ed a Sears in a while, but then again, I never would find the 1.97 deals some of y'all report. That reminds me, I still have never cracked open that Sears copy of RRXX. Maybe I'll do that today....
 
Addiction is a good description of my relationship with Sears. Everytime I drive by one I am compelled to stop. Haha. Finding the clearance stuff is the game...like finding Easter eggs. I have had the oppurtunity to play games I would never have bought or rented because of sears. I got a few hours into strangledhold... Fun for a while, worth 2 bucks. Was playing a copy of folklore here and there until it was amazons trade of the day. Looking forward to trying quake and eoj. Enjoyed the hell out of civ revolution, GH aero, and rockband game - especially the drums which I would've never bought otherwise. Sears is a great place for cheap gifts for gamer you know.

I did get AllProFootball on sale for 45 shortly after release, then our kid was born and by the time I had time to play games a month or so later APF was 10 or 15 somewhere (Target?)and I had only played one game!

My backlog got bad when Best Buy had that $2-$5 megasale and I got a bunch of games, but was addicted to Gears and played nothing else for 6 months, then got addicted to CoDMW for 9 months and played nothing else.

I've got some still sealed gamecube games I got on clearance at Target like Zelda 4 swords, twilight princess, mario sunshine, etc that I'm thinking of selling and then buying used. I got 4 swords for $5 and it sells for 25-30 on ebay and I see it for 50-70 on amazon. Why the big difference? Does it really sell for that much more on amazon? I, too, need the cash and especially more so than having a sealed copy of a game instead or a used copy in good condition.

On topic, I found a pair of 360 memory cards for 1.97 at Sears in Johnson City, TN. One for me and one for a pal. Store seemed cleared out.

I still have a sealed XBox copy of Psychonauts(and the guide to go with it that I picked up for $2-4 from a local shop) from Kmart that I picked up for $3-4 when it clearanced there.

I sold a sealed copy of Dino Crisis 2 a couple of years ago for $100. So yea, it does sell sometime. I don't really see what you have to lose by listing it. Things like that usually do sell around Christmas time.
 
I hope some new stuff gets added for November then by January or February it will be really cheap. I'm also hoping MGS 4 drops to $9.97 and older stuff doesn't go back to full price.

I don't know what Sears is thinking. If GH Aerosmith for 360 and PS3 didn't sell for $7.97 for 2 or 3 months, what makes them think it will sell for $49.xx unless they are counting on parents paying that much for holiday gifts.

I was on the hunt for Aerosmiths for a while. The three Sears by me were completely out. I went on a road trip to pick something and I was able to finds a nearby sears that had about 6 copies, but they were all $50.

Half the time they'll tell you no so they can buy it.
 
Because if they didn't know about them being on clearance when they went to check if they were in stock when someone calls they are then alerted to the deal and will buy it for themselves
 
Well, you kids can knock yourself out and drive all around town. I have kids and a life and no time to drive to 10 stores. My loss, I guess, but I suspect the hard drives are all gone already.

they probably are all gone already you're right... they've been on clearance for a while so you were prob better off not driving around wasting time

only thing i would say is to just drop in a store if u have one real close by.. but otherwise its good to take into account how long things have been on clearance to figure out how worth it is to drive to

Is that a complete list? The only thing I might go and pick up is in the movies for the webcam, but even that is only an okay deal as many stores had it at that price before.
 
I went to Sears today, hadn't been for a few weeks. I didn't find anything, actually, they only had a few games with clearance stickers on them and most were not good prices. But, it did seem like they raised some prices on some games, for example, Uncharted, because they covered the clearance sticker with a new regular sticker. None of the stickers would come up so I couldn't check old prices, but it looks like they did raise them.

They did get a couple of copies of Diddy Kong Racing, which they didn't have before, but they are still wanting $30 for it, so I'm hoping it may drop some time, but won't hold my breath :D

I don't even know how that can count as clearance. At this point, they should be giving them away, especially with the quantity they have left. I don't know what they were thinking when corporate stocked them. "Quickly, buy extra. A $60 game with covers and worse features than Rock Band and Guitar Hero will fly off the shelves!":beer:
 
Quantum of Solace is a good pickup for you guys that are on the fence. Decent game and fairly easy Platinum/1000 if you're interested. Just avoid NBA Live 09. It's impossible to Platinum.

You're quite welcome, DMC. My one CL ad is proving to be fruitful for me(FINALLY) as well. I have the one guy meeting me at a local mall today to pay me a bit over what I paid for a GTA IV SE for the PS3.

However, I intend on trying the one new local shop first, since the guy is kinda clueless about video games and well.....maybe I can tell him I paid $100+ for it and try and grab for $50-60 from him.:D

I plan on taking the only $4 Vision Cam bundle I have left with me too and saying that was a $60-70 purchase and I 'just wanna make some of my money back'. :lol:

Is it wrong to take advantage of shop owners who are oblivious to prices? Maybe. But I'll be laughing all the way to the bank if this first stop works out in my favor.

If all else fails, I can sell the guy I'm meeting at the mall an open copy of GTAIV I have with the extra stuff from the SE in mint/complete condition for the price I'm supposed to sell it to him and then just grab a used copy of GTA IV from Blockbuster for $15 to play.:D

Now if only someone would buy my used import copy of Demon's Souls.;)
