I'd say the review is pretty accurate. However, as a matter of personal taste, I like the music in T6 (when I hear it).

Also, people are always playing Asuka at the arcades I go to, and I only see a handful of Bob players (This is from going to various arcades in Tokyo and Miyagi).
Plethora of updates at www.sdtekken.com ...

Next site feature will either be...

- customization
- music
- gameplay

One of the three!
oddly I look forward the most to customization.

I'm still mixed about Tekken 6's soundtrack. I'm hoping the PS3 release will allow custom soundtracks.
which makes me happy... though I'm still pissed at how bad dragunov is.
You and me both, brother.

EDIT: Slightly OT, but ... Virtua Fighter 5 R !?! C'mon now. If they release this for consoles, it had better be as some kind of downloadable content, or I am going to be steamed. Way to make me regret picking up the "lesser" version of the game, Sega.

TEKKEN 6 In The USA: The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly

March 5, 2008

Hardcore Tekken fans all over the USA are all wondering one thing, WHEN. When will Tekken 6 be playable for us? While Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Canada, New Zealand, Australia, Indonesia, Great Britain, Hong Kong, China and other countries are all enjoying the latest installment of our favorite series… Tekken supporters in the United States(Except Houston, TX) are crying inside for a chance to finally play Tekken 6. For the full story on Tekken 6 coming to the US, click below…

$1/play for a fighting game isn't absurd at all, I'm playing 100 yen per game here on most games here in japan, and 315 yen a month to customize my character. If it's 3 rounds and the people playing aren't just mashing buttons, it's not too bad.

Tekken 6 is now in California! Super Arcade is now the second location in the United States to get their hands on an imported version of Tekken 6! Special thanks to all of the SOCAL scene for keeping the community in the loop on Tekken 6’s arrival! If you want to make it out to Super Arcade and try out Tekken 6… Here is the address:

Super Arcade
1211 N. Grand Ave
Walnut, CA 91748
MAP

The arcade is located right across the street from Mt. San Antonio College in the same plaza with Jack In The Box. Expect more information and impressions soon!

I hope that at least somewhere out here, Vegas, that we get an arcade cabinet at one of the arcades. I still play Soul Calibur 2/3 and Tekken 5 DR religiously on Fri and Sat nights (when I don't have other plans) at several of the arcades here. We're actually planning a big citywide SC2 tournament soon at Sunset Station.

Battle For Tekken Lord!

May 10, 2008

On May 6th Gamer’s Vision amusement center held a special Tekken 6 event where the two highest ranked players in Japan battled it out to crown the first “Tekken Lord” rank in Japan. Takeyama (Bob) from Tokyo battled fiercely vs Osaka’s Second Generation Mainstreet Ryu (Kazuya) in a series of high level matches until one would be promoted as Japan’s first Tekken Lord!

1. Devil Jin
2. Leo
3. Bob
4. Law
5. Dragunov
6. Roger Jr.
7. Kazuya
8. Lei
9. Xiaoyu
10. Raven

As a long time Nina player, it pains me to to say this, but that's a *good* sounding top ten. Old characters (Law), new characters (Leo/Leah), thematically appropriate bad-asses (Devil Jin) and no Steve Fox or Heihachi. I approve. Of course, it doesn't hurt that I've been playing a lot of Raven and Dragunov lately. ;)
Im suprised Leo's so high. Also, wasn't xiaoyu ear the bottom in 5?
Yeah, she was ... ungood. It wasn't a Lei-like meteoric plunge to the bottom, but she was probably second-to-last tier. For once, playing her pet was actually a valid alternative to using her.
I'm just glad Dragunov is in the top 5... he was pretty lacking in Tekken DR. Thankfully the bound system bumped him up.
Yeah, if new Tekken characters don't dominate right out of the gate (Steve, Feng), they do tend to be sub-par (Raven, Drag). I'm just amused that the bound system is probably the reason for a grapple-heavy character's improvement.

Also, that Bob v. Kazuya fight over on SDTekken is nuts. The Kaz player has some excellent timing, but was that a full bar juggle from Bob I saw? People should really head over and check it out.

actually, dragunov improved from bounding not because of grappling, but because alot of his moves work hand-in-hand with bounding. 1,3,2 comes to mind.

We really need a fighter to come out in the next month or two to take our minds of the excruciating wait for Tekken 6 for just a little bit. Its killing me!

Also the fact that Dragunov can combo from his d/b+3 now and has excellent wall carry.

He can deal out huge damage at the wall too with b+2,1,3!

WS+1,3 is now safe/natural combo but no longer knocks down...

And his running 2 now grants a free juggle. Crazy stuff.

So, going by the Japanese fiscal year, which ends in April, that would put the console release sometime in the fall....?

Sept/Oct?

Does that sound right to people?

wow... shit, didn't even know that but thats awesome.

I love b+2,1,3 and now see it being used more diversely.

That's kind of what I was (poorly) getting at: the seemingly grapple-heavy character is now much more viable because of ... his new juggles. It's like King getting a shitload of launchers between games. Or something.
And his running 2 now grants a free juggle. Crazy stuff.
That's insane. It's all theorycraft for me, but there aren't that many characters with non-standard running attacks -- is he the only one who can do anything beyond a forced run into a d/f+2?

Every character has a running attack, some just have special/non generic ones.

Dragunov, Steve, King, Armor King, Julia, and a bunch of other chracters have special moves that are running moves. I'm too lazy to list them all.

Kazuya is top tier indeed. It will take a really good player though to make him top tier. Mishimas aren't easy to use. But BOB is (from what everyone tells me, and what I can see).
