Ohio CAGs...UNITE!

Hey any CAGs from O-H-I-O? If so lets discuss all local(er) dealers here. I live in a suburb off of columbus. We can also discuss garage sales for charites and churches and such.

So anyone from OHIO?
Younger guy, he had long hair.

FWIW the Half Price Books by the Dayton Mall is moving to Beavercreek this September. Awesome for me as that means it'll be a lot closer.
Any idea exactly where in Beavercreek?

I need to update my Dayton shopping thread. There's been at least half a dozen places that have closed and a few that have opened in the last year or so.

I want to say they're moving to Pentagon Dr (ave?) off N. Fairfield.

If anyone from Toledo reads this... have you checked out "Replay Games" on Alexis? It is on the whitmer side, at that small complex with H&R Block.

They have a site-

www.replayoftoledo.com

Curious if they have anything interesting, or their trade values are good.

For anyone interested The Game Haven in Dayton is hiring, feel free to drop off a resume. Gotta be at least 18 though.

Reminder for Northeast Ohio CAGs: I'm going pillaging at BB tomorrow and will hopefully pick up a bunch of Fallout 3 LE guides and PoP LE guides. PM me if you want me to get one for you.

A Fallout guide sounds pretty good. How much are they? I'm in Akron btw so meeting you to pick one up wouldn't be an issue. Let me know if you're interested man.

I've yet to determine how much I would sell them for.

The reason I would try to make a profit is because the goal is to get money so I can go back to college in the fall.

That's right by Biglots and House of Meats and I'd never noticed it.

Went to Village Discount Outlet thrift store in Dayton on Linden ave while visiting my family...Scored a PSone for $6. It had everything but the box. I finally have a use for those $10 PSone lcd screens from the old kmart clearances.

It's fairly recent. I plan on checking it out this Tuesday.

That's actually a decent store to score older stuff. I picked up an NES, 2 controllers, and a NES Advantage all for under $7. I guess people bring their stuff into Gamestop expecting to cash out, find that they don't accept older games, and dump their stuff next door.

Is it better then Video Game underground off Sylvania? Site looks pretty cool...

I've never actually been to VGU. The commercial made sure I never step foot in there.

I went to Replay but I guess they were moving (next door...) so they were closed. So FML wasting gas. I will try to check it out sometime this week.

Is there still that little shop on 5th Ave in Columbus, near the campus area? It was in the plaza with Mark Pi's on the other end. They always seemed to have some decent stuff. I might be heading back there soon for a few days and was just curious.

I went to Replay today (Toledo area), just to follow up on my last posts.

Great place, lots of inventory. Quality of products varies, but they are used products so you have to fish through. There were multiple copies of a game, but some would be great others not so much. Great prices too, imo. I was looking at their N64 games and most were hovering around the $3 area for a cart. They have lots of boxed games. They even had a sealed (well, could be re-sealed) NES game (it was Anticipation, dont get too hyped).

They have the "shining grail" shelf filled with the "Rare" items. I rolled my eyes at the $40 Nocturne guide. Maybe I'm not up to speed on that but I'm sure you can get that cheaper... w/e though.

I chatted with the owners, and they were busy running around trying to get ideas for their commercial. I chimed in and said "don't do it like VGU... please". They also gave me a punch card, for every $5 you spend you get a punch. When you fill it, you get $5 off your next purchase. This sounds good but there are a lot of punches to fill before you get the discount... they should up the discount, or lower the punches.

They said they've been around for at least the past 2 years... I said I had never heard of them. I asked if they would do a system like special orders, where they could call you if they ever came across a certain game, which they said they were going to, it just wasnt set up yet.

Overall, a pretty decent place and alternative to Allied Jacked Up Price Record Exchange. IF you are in the area, definitely check them out.

Here is their website-

For anyone looking to get a 360 copy of Section 8 early, the Target at Niles(Eastwood Mall) had two copies in the glass case leaning up against the display 360.

The new Half Price Books location in Beavercreek is having its Grand Opening over the Labor Day weekend. 20% off everything according to the email I got. It's in the shopping center with Chipotle across from the mall.

Oh, and JDN, I was right about the third Layton already being out in Japan.

Is that the shopping center in front of the wal mart? Not gonna lie, i'm pretty pumped about Half Price Books being in Beavercreek.

Crazy we're just getting Layton 2 now...

I'll repost this from the GameCrazy thread.

I called today to confirm and the store on Harshman Rd in Dayton, Ohio is closing. Liquidation starts Monday.

The stores on Patterson in Dayton, Ohio, E Alex-Bell in Centerville, Ohio, Hiawatha in Springboro, OH, and Towne in Franklin, Ohio should all be okay. The clerk said the closest store closing is the one on N Cable Rd in Lima, Ohio, but I haven't called to confirm that.

Anybody know of any stores like Target or whatever that actually go and do the clearances in Canton?

I swear the ones I've gone to haven't had them. One blockbuster for sure, Sears I didn't think did but I never got a price check because I'm kind of scared for some reason of saying "oh no, sorry thought it was going to be cheaper or something." then walking away when the price is on it.

Also, would anybody be interested in me making a new thread for Ohio CAG's? With some good info from others I could post a list for each city of the places that do go on Sale etc.

I've been meaning to check out this store for quite a while, but there's no sense in doing that when I'm the big broke-ass I am. Shelby is kind of a pain-in-the-ass drive, though. I should also just beg you for a job while I'm there, that solves all of my problems.

If anyone else is around here, the Goodwill in Ontario has a pretty huge pile of sealed PC games for $5 each. They all have Best Buy stickers on them, I don't know why they would have them, but you can score Oblivion and Shivering Isles for $10.

Anyway, I've unfortunately resorted to selling off my DVDs and what little games I have as of late. I went to Buybacks twice, and got a pretty decent deal once and completely hosed the next. I don't have anything else I'm willing to sell, so I guess the two trips balance each other out. I felt like I couldn't say no the second time, because the girl spent a good 20 minutes scanning everything and, quite frankly, I'm a sucker for a cute girl in a nerd store. I really wish they'd have given me a receipt with everything on it, the first time I went out there I ended up with $50 even on a total of 17 bargain-bin DVDs and Xbox games Gamestop won't take. I guess like every other store out there, it's hit-or-miss, both on their prices and TIVs. I wanted a copy of Casino on DVD but it was $7 where the rest of the DVDs are $3, and in this day-and-age it's pretty hard for me to pay for a DVD. I guess it's fair that it's twice as much since it's twice as long, I just didn't have that much to spare.

The first thing I noticed having not been there since before Christmas was that the console case was PICKED CLEAN. The NESes, SNESes, 64s, and PSXs were all gone, as were the all the current-gen systems, all that's left are PSPs and PS2s. I was looking for a SNES so that bummed me out, they had at least 7 of them. I didn't know there were so many people who wanted a Super Nintendo for Christmas.

I kind of resent the place a little because I applied for a job there when they first opened and the guy only hired hot girls, but it's either them or FYE. So, it's them.

if anyone lives in or around canton, the fye in the belden village mall is closing and everything is basically 50% off. i was just in there today and got mirror's edge, earth defense 2017, blue dragon, halo 3 (LE), and gta 4 for a little less than $50. the 360 games and a lot of other things are really picked over, but if you live within driving distance, there were some hidden gems (as well as some bonkers prices like tony hawk project 8 for $30 AFTER the 50% off). damn msrp.

I'm here from Canton, right between Canton Center and the Strip. I go to college in Akron, and semi-frequently drive out to the Salem/Lisbon area so I have a pretty solid 30mi radius.

The Target out by Beldin(Mallet, whatever)/Strip had some great clearances this past fall, but I actually had even better luck with the one on Tuscarawas/Lincoln Way down in that pit or whatever you want to call it. The Blockbuster by that Target is decent, but the Blockbuster that was down Tusc. towards Aultman Hospital/Canton Center/on the way to downtown was the best in Canton till they closed down.

The Sears at Beldin does do clearances, although they are definitely a pain to check. I grabbed an Eye of Judgement pack there for ~$7, and a friend got Ghostbusters PS3 on a PM from the GC ad for $12 ($15 - .1 * $30). From time to time they actually dump all of their clearances into a bin up in the gaming area that is either back by the wall with xbox memory cards/silicon skins/etc hanging on it, or right up against the registers in the gaming area. I've been pretty hesitant myself as well to hunt down an employee in order to have the cases opened and have random items checked, lol. Unless I REALLY want something I probably won't bother going through all of that for one of their sales. I mainly just check them when I am out about the mall already.

There is a hollywood video that used to have a GameCrazy attached out on Cleveland Ave. that before GC closed was great, but I haven't checked them out since. There is also a Blockbuster within 2 minutes of it so the next time I see a great sale there I will probably check back over to see if that Hollywood is doing gaming things now for themselves.

I can confirm that the Best Buy here in Canton DOES NOT have clearances (I asked a manager that I had been joking around with for a bit when taking in my fiance's laptop).

I have also found a few jewels, although not lately, at The Exchange out by the mall. It is under the Beldin glass tower, in that little plaza with Starbucks/Robecks. They have reasonable prices normally, but not amazing good ones. The BuyBacks out there has been a complete dry spot for me, and they have never even been close to reasonable on either their pricing or TIV in my experience.

I also have a PC for sale, quad core, 4gb RAM, 160GB HD, Windows XP, custom built. PM me if you want specs.

Thanks!

This has been my experience around the area as well.

I work at the Game Haven on Airway and we have two of them. Sadly they aren't cheap. Like $125 not cheap.

I saw that too. Is it actually INSIDE of The Greene or is it in one of those run-down looking shopping centers down the street?

Hey Cincy area CAG'ers! I'm trying to sell off my NES collection, would be great if I could do so locally to dodge the shipping costs of a heavy ass box of NES cartridges!

Anyone interested, CML. Thanks!
