I really doubt this guy got a 4.8 as a freshman. Most highschools don't even let freshmen into one AP class. I really doubt they'd let one take almost all, if not all AP classes. If he's telling the truth then damn you have one advanced high school.

yea they do let freshmens into AP classes. but i never heard of anyone getting 4.8. but yes AP classes do exist for freshmen

From what I have noticed, Marines arn't %100 there. I dont mean that as a bad thing, it just takes a certain mentality to be a marine.

when i was in college at Rutgers i'd get like 1 jaywalking ticket a year, espically towards the beginning of each semester they would hand them out like they were nothing =(

Not that you'd ever know, but there is something called an honor point that some schools will apply to AP or Honors classes due to the accelerated nature of the course.
Since they are given more work at a more rapid rate, the school figures it's only fair that they get a higher grade due to thier diligence and hard work.

You can have gpa over 4.0 as a freshman, I had Geometry (honors math), and honors english as a freshman and both gave you that extra 1.0 on top of your regular grade. My friend who was the class validictorian had like a 4.87 the person who was 2nd in class had like a 4.85. It was nuts, just one class grade in the 4 years of HS was different.

Also to get a gpa that low you have to get what I call the dreded "I" grade as in Incomplete. You have to essentially not show up to class at all to get that grade. Most teachers will give you an F no problem but if you NEVER show up and piss them off then they give you the 0.0 and hope they kick you out of the school. Teachers don't like tracking the grades of people who don't show up. It brings down the class & School average. So it makes the teachers and school look bad. Getting 0 GPA points is their way of tellling you to get out of their school.

My advice is show all those teachers that your not a moron. Take summer school and some remidial classes if you have to but show them that you can at least pull some C's. Tell your parents that if they pay the ticket and don't get too mad, you will show them that you can do better in school.
 
Man, with a GPA that low, you rank even lower than the dumb blondes like Jessica Simpson. You can't have brains when you have good looks. What do your parents say about your grades? Try to get at least a 1.0 and work towards getting a 2.0 GPA.

Well, out here in my school in NorCal, you can't start honors/AP realistcally until your a junior. Englsih honors isn't available til English 3, and you don't get honors in math in Geometry (that's a joke), you have to wait till 2 years later in Math Analysis.

Also have never heard of an Incomplete over here. If like earlier he said he failed 3 classes, he'd then have 9 classes and pull D's in all of them.

(3 x 0) + (1 x 6) = 6 points / 9 classes = .67 GPA

I myself had a 4.71 GPA this year.
 
i got a 0.00 Gpa but thats because i got into a fight with the security guard and ended up gettin suspended, and my school hates me, literally.

I had one friend get 2 jaywalking tickets before.. but that was because he was hit by cars while jaywalking twice. I've never even heard of someone getting a jaywalking ticket if nothing happened to force the cops' hand.
 
I think the sad fact is that you think its funny that you have bad grades. You might think its funny now, but its really not. You should forget about playing games and start reading some books.... Allthough my son has some elmo game that could probably help you learn your numbers if you want.
 
Actually the military only accepts a small percentage of people without a high school diploma. The odds of this guy making the cut are pretty slim.
 
Have you looked over the ticket closely? I think tickets generally say how much the fine is for? Maybe not in CA though, don't know.

Holy crap! The ignorance that is on this page is too much for any one to handle. I get real tired of the whole Marines are not 100% there crap by the way, hey if you're in any branch I don't care that we rag on each other, cause it's what we do. I heard it all M.A.R.I.N.E Muscles Are Required Intelligence Not Expected. Yeah it's funny, but I'm tired that people just think that the whole military is composed of people who could not do anything else.

I only had a 3.8 G.P.A. sure I could have done a whole lot better, but I was still a gamer, and well yes I did let it get in my way of studies. Still, there is no way a person can get such a low G.P.A. "You're ignorant, that's just ignorant".

Now it's true, man do we have some dumb people, and they normally end up being grunts. What type of job you think you're going to have? If anything the Army will accept the lowest scores on the ASVAB followed by the Marine Corps, but guess what you'll be doing?

If for some strange reason you do well on the exam, your stupidity will follow you if you don't shape up now and probably will end up with all the other idiots in the Brig.

I just hate the fact that everyone believes we are a little crazy...well perhaps we are, but it does not mean we're stupid. My SSgt 26 has been working full time and got his Masters, now that I find is a great accomplishment. It's not easy to find time for off duty education at time. Unfortunately I was a barracks rat at the beginning so I was only able to get my Associate in those 4 years; I started attending classes 2 years after I joined. Darn me for being lazy! I still did it though. Then I come home and find friends, who graduated at the same time, have not done anything but gone to school and still don't have an Associate cause they do not want to apply themselves.

You have to do a whole lot better than that, or you won't be the "that guy" you'll be the PVT who will be ordered to take off his mask to see if it's all clear.

Still as some have said you need at least a high school diploma...or yes an equivalent before even thinking of joining. The way it's looking, and how you make fun of yourself for not applying yourself...well maybe you should keep playing in traffic. Perhaps you'll get lucky.

Sad, but funny. If that happened in my school they would get to go to the alternative high school, which is much nicer then the normal high school. :x

As for jaywalking, most states have a system where you just pay the ticket and not even have to bother showing up for court for such a BS ticket like jaywalking. Though, you may want to go to court and see what kind of low life scum are in the lobby, or inside the courthouse awaiting trial. A .67 GPA will almost certainly guarantee your revisiting a courthouse.

If this sounds harsh, well good, it should. I've known/met some serious dumbasses in my life and they never had such a piss poor GPA - that is, unless they were purposely trying to get kicked out a school.
