MTV Oddities was one of the best blocks back then. I remember always watching The Head & Maxx. Wish those would get some boxset releases.
Well the 80's was where it's at. The 90's was just commecials on commercials.
Then we had all the anime we missed.
I already have some of He-Man, She-Ra and the Thundercats. I just need Transformers and GI Joe and all will be well.
Not a cartoon, but we need Sifl and Olly on DVD.
Yeah what the hell .. how is it possible thats not on dvd yet? That show was the greatest. And Perfect Strangers needs to be released too!!

The Angry Beavers marked the the beginning of the end of Nick's awesome cartoons. Angry Beavers and everything that has followed couldn't hold a candle to classic shows like Doug and Rocko, and their predecessors.

Sifl and Olly was amazing. "Hey Chester. Where would you go if you could fly?"
"Um...I'd uh...I'd go to the corner of the room and just, you know, uh...see whats up there."

what about cartoon network of the 90s swat kats, 2 stupid dogs, johnny quest, smurphs, tom and jerry, the jetsons, the flintsones, space ghost I miss that shit.

i liked tom & jerry and 2 stupid dogs too...that shit was tight

any idea on if any of these shows will eventually be on DVD?

Pretty sure Tom and Jerry is on DVD somewhere

Freakazoid is out on DVD, or its due out any day now.

The cartoons of the 80's were there for one reason: TO SELL TOYS, thats why they're all cool and violent :)

The Cartoons of the 90's were all about....babies or something. Rockos Modern Life? Angry Beavers? Ugh......hand me my pacifier. :)

Give me GI Joe and their "Cobra is invading with their new COBRA BUGG! We'll stop them with The MAULER Main Battle Tank!". Then a commercial would come on for the new Cobra BUGG and GI Joe Mauler. Then after the show ended, we'd be begging to go to the Toys R Us!

Brainwashing RULEZ

While were on the subject does anyone remember gargoyles? stone by day warriors by night! badasses man

Nope.

They are only "evaluating" it so far.

Is there any chance we'll see widescreen releases of the TEEN TITANS and THE BATMAN series on DVD? The show is animated in widescreen, but is released on fullscreen DVDs (probably due to the KIDS label). Also, any plans to release a new MASK OF THE PHANTASM DVD with new special features/commentary and audio/video transfer? And one last question--FREAKAZOID? Any plans? Thank you!

Teen Titans and The Batman - we are considering widescreen on both as well as evaluating a Freakazoid release. As mentioned earlier we are reviewing a Mask of the Phantasm Special Edition. Thanks for your support!

Honestly OP if you want old school shows/cartoons get on the torrent train.

In the past few months, I've been able to track down the complete series of Freakazoid, Tiny Toons, Rocko and Dexter's Lab.

- edit Oh and the quality isn't that bad.

We had a big huge thread about cartoons a few months ago. I guess it's not exactly the same as this one.

But yes, where the hell are all these cartoons on DVD? Freakazoid, Doug, Daria, and The Maxx are chief wants as far as I'm concerned. There's a lot more than that but I'm brutally awaiting them.

yea, this thread is basically a "why aren't X show and Y show out on DVD???" thread

and sporadic..i do use bittorrent but it would take forever to d/l a whole season of one show (i know, i've D/Led a whole season of aqua teen before)...i'd rather just pay for the DVD boxset

Yeah, Rocko's Modern Life and Hey Arnold were great. Wasn't a big fan of Arnold at the time, but looking back, I can really appreciate the genious of the show.

id really like to see the maxx come out. i could also go for spiderman and xmen. ive already got my ren and stimpy dvds, id probably get rocko if it came out.

Rocko was the best of them all. Watching those shows nowadays make me laugh at all the innuendo...

But yeah, the cartoons were the only thing good about the 90's. Everything else was horrible. :x

Some other shows: TMNT, Fox's Peter Pan & the Pirates, Batman the Animated Series. (2 of 3 are on dvd....)

'99 was pretty damn good for stocks ;)

i really liked alot of the short lived fringe toons of the 90s like exosquad, battletech, captain simian and the space monkeys, darkwing duck ( which i think would still make for an awesome videogame), MIB, extreme ghostbusters, reboot, swat kats, biker mice from mars. attack of the killer tomatoes was cool too but i think it was a late 80s toon.

I don't know wtf the deal is with Daria... I thought MTV owns the rights to it, or did they sell it? MTV has pimped out a ton of its popular shows on DVD already, you would have thought they'd put out Daria by now, but I think they sold the rights to Noggin or something.

Maybe I'm wrong.

Alot of these cartoon shows the demand just isn't there for people to actually pony up $35 per set, I think.

Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network are EXTREMELY anal about what they put out on DVD, i.e nothing. Believe me, I'd kill for some CN original stuff on DVD but it will NEVER HAPPEN.

And to whoever suggested Boomerang, go look at their lineup, it's mostly crap or old CN original shows, not really alot of old cartoons from other years.

At least Disney has seen the light with its cartoons.

Yeah, its Nickelodeon/MTV/VH1. The N/Noggin is the same company as those. They used to show Pete and Pete reruns, too.

If I remember right, it's a music rights issue.

They are slowly starting to warm up to the idea. They have already released Ed, Edd & Eddy Season 1 on DVD with Foster's Season 1 on the way.

He actually brings up a very valid point.

Ah, I have all the He-Man dvds as well. Er... well minus the X-mas special.

yeah its one of my favorite shows. you can still catch it on tv on one of disneys cartoon channels they usually show 2 or more episodes a day when theyre running it.

90's cartoons sucked. 80's is where it's at. GI Joe, Transformers, Thundercats, M.A.S.K., Robotech, I even got to see the USA release of the Dragon Warrior cartoon. 90's only had Batman the animated series.

i highly disagree that 80's cartoons were better...they just weren't entertaining...except for thundercats..that was pretty awesome
