How's does EB make money? I recently ordered Loz: LADX, RE Gaiden, Star Gladiator, & Trouballs. I ordered all of the separately at different times, but I used the edge card and CAG15 savings, plus free shipping for each one. They sent each order by priority mail, now assuming they have to pay the post office the same $3.85 for priority mail as everyone else then the only made a profit on one of my sales, which was RE Gaiden. I mean Star Gladiator only cost me $3 before taxes, so they lost $.85 on that transaction just for shipping. Plus all but 1 one the games came from a place about an hour and a half away, so priority mail didn't make a whole lot of difference anyway. Do other people get priority shipping when they pay nothing? I'm not complaining or anything, I enjoy this actually, but I was just curious.
Occasionally I get FedEx. Today I even got one shipped UPS. My guess is they must have some sort of deal with USPS, UPS, and FedEx where they don't have to pay the same rate as we do since they do so much shipping through them.

My return envelope for my bad Zelda DX had about $3.80 USPS postage affixed to it. Plus they will have to pay to ship me the replacement. All that postage costs for a $4 game, LOL. I would have taken it to a local EB and replaced it, but none of them had it in stock.

What you should do next time is just take it back B&M for money (or store credit), then just order it again through the website. I did that with my Dreamcast and the second one came in very good condition.

Can you stack the Edge, CAG 15 and the free shipping? I thought you could not do all 3.

By the way, mine have come USPS both times.
Thanks,
Matthew

new to this thread, but am finding it helpful and I'd like to contribute. How do you post the links with the pictures underneath? Anyone have a template I can use?

You don't need any template, just post the links and it automatically posts it with the pics.

I'm sure they get a huge break on shipping with each carrier, or that we pay significantly more than they need to charge, which is more likely. They probably pay less than $1 for each order shipped. It would have to be cheap enough so that free-shipping is enough of a selling point for them to continue to profit.

also remember that not every customer knows of the freeship code. thats an incentive to keep business at their site.. i

I'm pretty such that big companies such as ebgames will get a break on shipping but I seriously doubt that the discount is that high (less than $1 to ship a package via UPS or FedEx).
for all of you PSP gamers addicted to wipeout pure (like me), here's a blast from the past for cheap:
That's my favorite Wipeout installment! What a great price for that game!

I'd like to mention that Amped 2 dropped from 17.99 yesterday to 14.99... and NBA Street V3 dropped from 44.99 to 39.99 (these are all used of course)

1 Medabots AX: Metabee Version - Pre-Played $7.99 $7.99
1 CIMA: The Enemy - Pre-Played $7.99 $7.99

was able to grab those. Wanted the Medabots last time it was there for 8 bucks same with CIMA i heard CIMA was good will see

TOtal was around 12.70 after tax and shipping

That Lunar has been there for a while actually. The weird thing was that last week they had another listing for Lunar SSSC for $24.99 b/c. It went OSS very quickly.
Krazy Racers is KICK ASS game ;)
the mini games in it very much add to the overal package of the game (i got mine at kmart for 3 bucks one time)

i did notice if you wanted to plop down the cash (they might have been there for a while but i haven't seen them posted on here) but Megaman 6 for the NES is on there for 30, along with when i mentioned Kid Icarus
i cant remember but i dont think i ever opened them (it was either take them or they was going to toss them in the dumpster to get crushed) It needed that dance pad thing i think and back then they was not easy to find or they cost a lot. i had the stupid things in the house until 1999 until i found a reseller at this flea market place that offered me 300 bucks credit to take them all off my hands
Dance Aerobics is actually a pretty cool game if you have the Power Pad. I loved the power pad and track and feild. Someone really needs to bring that back.
$uck somebody stole "Megaman Network Transmission" GC from my cart when i only 2 click left > :)
Man, that is massively painful!
R-Type Final (PS2) MSRP $14.99 at local ToysRus
It still may make sense to get it used from EB . . .

First off, it will have case and instructions

and 25% off makes it $11.25

Then if that $11.25 were part of $100 that gets you the $25 voucher, you're up another $2.50 plus . . . now you're down to $9 for the game

If you have store credit that was derived from trading it stuff at a 100% gain in what you paid (get $10 for a $5 game)

Then you get a copy of R-Type Final could have an out-of-pocket of less than $4.50

I love EB deals!

For instance, get in on Hot Shots Fore and Syphon Filter (I think) both are not excluded from trade in . . . so, you buy both for $30 and trade them in for $20 but you also get $40 in gift vouchers as well . . . so, spend $10 (instore credit possibly) and get 2 $20 voucher codes.
How much is Deja Vu 1 and 2 for GBC when it's in stock? I found a copy today at Gamerush for $4.99, and wondered what EB's price was.
It's 3.99 I believe when it is in stock, but sells out very very quickly. I know, I've been trying to get one for some time now.

I have the original* Deja Vu and Shadowgate for the NES, but I still had to buy the GBC versions. I love those games.

*I know they were originally published on computer, but in this context they're the original Nintendo releases, at least.

Thanks guys! Considering how rarely it shows up and how quickly it sells out, I'm perfectly happy having spent the extra buck. :)

And with Shadowgate Classic, I should be set for my trip to St. Louis on Thursday!

Dude, no offense...but how is 25% off of $19.99 come out to $11.25...? heh. :)
