Does anyone know if ebgames.com ever gets in:

USED Taiko Drum Master w/drum

SNES Uniracers

or Tomba! 2?

And, if so, anyone know the prices on them?

Just a heads up for people looking for Taiko, there are tons of them on Ebay brand new for pretty good prices. I think people stocked up when they were $20 at eb a few months ago.
Sorry, I don't have a link for Tomba 2.
http://www.ebgames.com/ebx/product/175519.asp

It took some digging around with the wayback machine, but, luckily, the April 11th, 2004 version of GameSpot's Tomba 2 GameSpace page had a link to the EBGames purchase page (the other archived versions of the GameSpace did not). I don't know if it ever comes in stock, though.
nope you wont have a problem at all.
I used to work for EB, and I know people who still do, returns are only supposed to be taken for defective/wrong games. If you really feel the need to return it because it's disc only, just say that it freezes like 20 minutes in or something so they won't check it.
Some games that I haven't seen in awhile, anyone know the scoop on them?

Spin Jam is a lot like Bust-A-Move, but "cicular." Instead of aiming where you want the colored ball to go (just like B-A-M, you want to get 3 of the same color touching so they'll disappear), you rotate the spindle in the middle of the screen, to which all the balls are anchored. You can get an idea of how it plays from this screen... Anyway, definitely worth $.75 a/c. :)
spinjam9kd.jpg

Sheep is a fun action puzzle type of game where you control a sheep herder, trying to get the sheep to go where they need to go, basically. A lot more fun than it may sound, I promise. :) Definitely worth it.

Sports Jam is kinda like the Mario Party of sports games. Basically, a collection of very arcadey renditions of various sports. Fun, and probably worth the $3.75 a/c, if you like simple arcade-style sports games.

And KISS Psycho Circus is basically a dumb FPS, not a whole lot to say about it. Not horrible, but nothing special. I'd pass, myself.

Ugh, kind of disappointed with some of the games I've received this week:

Bust a Groove - disc only, writing and a yellow EB barcode sticker on the disc
Ogre Battle - disc only, video store sticker ring in the middle of the disc
Tales of Destiny - disc only
Persona 2 - disc only
Brigandine - disc only

From the website:
Returns and exchanges of new and Pre-Played
merchandise will be accepted within 30 days from the date on the packing slip

Exceptions: Video games, computer software, video game systems, computer hardware, action figures and DVDs may NOT be returned if opened or unsealed and non-defective.

See, the thing is, all of the PS1 games I've received from the website don't even have the stickers on them. So there is no way to tell if they are opened or not. The EB employee I talked to at my local store again today commented that he was "surprised that the home office had these in stock" (hoshigami & Saga frontier). He said the same thing last time. I explained to him that they come in stock at 7a-8a in the morning, and that people sit around and watch the site for them to come into stock (Didn't mention name of cheapassgamer just to be safe)

He says he doesn't shop online much (he's young, high school age or close to it, I think) so he wasn't too familiar with the website.

Story:
Anyway, I returned Hoshigami, explaining it was too much for disc only, and Saga Frontier since it was cracked. He issued me a store credit (not an online-usable GC like last time). I was looking around the store and low and behold, a bright shiny copy of Disgaea on the shelf. I snatched it up, using my store credit on it. Case/manual are mint mint condition. Disc has a few scratches. He said the game had just come in today. I have the game already, so this one will be either ebay fodder or trading material for the site here. :D :D
btw, how long does it take for games to ship to your house, because i ordered games last friday and have yet to get them
If you use SAVER then it's random. I think it just depends on how many other orders they take in that use normal shipping as those are probably given higher priority.

I had 6 orders last week. 1 on Wed, 1 on Thurs, 4 on Fri.

As of today I have received the Wed order, the Thurs order, and 2 of the Friday orders. I've also placed several orders this week on Monday and Tuesday, some of which haven't even left EB's warehouses yet.

That's the price you pay for getting free shipping sadly.

Assuming you did the free saver shipping, that's usually sent media mail. Media mail generally takes 5-10 business days. It's cheap because it's basically very low priority for the postal service. I 2 states from where the games are shipped from (NC), and I usually get stuff in about 5-7 days from the time it actually ships. If you live on the west coast somewhere though, it could probably take another week, unless they have another center out there or something (unlikely). Mediamail is pretty random though, occasionally I'll get something in like 2 days, sometimes 2 weeks. It's free for a reason! =p

Edit: Dammit Ronz!

Just wanted to say I got some great quality games (not mint but great). The manuals, discs and the paper inside the case were great for:
Summoner
Ring of Red
Sky Gunner
Klonoa 2

Last week I got zone of the enders 2nd story and RAD and they were both in below average shape (manual and case insert). I ended up returning them.

Some ebgames stores give you a hard time when you try to return something you bought online (even if you have the reciept and its within 30 days for preplayed)............ if they do ( as in my experience) have them put it in writing why they won't take it back and for what reason....... I did this and the employee eventually said he would give the refund (probably cause he was too scared I wanted it in writing why he wouldn't take the return - in his case he said it was because the pre-played game was open - dumbass.......it's preplayed).

If anyone is looking for a manual for Rival Schools, I have an extra one. PM for information and condition if you are interested.

even disc only 15 bucks is a great price for persona 2. rest of them are way overprice of disc only

I wrote to them and told them that as long as they were putting Suikoden ii and valkarie profile online to just "test things" that I would keep buying rare games and canceling my orders. I was furious this morning when I ordered VP and FFIII. I would not have touched FFIII if it were not for VP. It went through ALL the way and it turns out that VP was not even there to begin with. It was just some stupid test. This is the biggest bunch of BS I have ever heard. So I canceled my order about an hour later with a pretty nice explanation. They better get their act together. Doesn't this seem to run on False Advertising? Claiming to have games that they actually dont?

And if my Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle come disk only, you better believe they are going right back! They shouldn't even accept games without a case. Where do people throw their cases? How hard is it to keep them? These are my complaints today. lol. See you in the AM!!!

There's a pawn shop close to where I work that has Uniracers for $3.99 (well, atleast it was there last week). I can check if it's still there and probably have it shipped to you media mail for about $6.50 (after taxes and shipping added in) if you want. I probably won't be able to check till next week though. No biggie either way.

Well, they tell you it can be disk only. So I would not sweat it.
As to returning it in store, hopefully it is not a problem. I would guess it would not be.

As to Valkyrie Profile not being in stock today... It was. Someone actually ordered one. It seemed like there was only one in stock though.

Didn't some one say that they picked up Valkyrie Profile today? I do hate how it can stay in your cart all the way until the very last page. It sucks when you pick up a cheap and expensive game in the same order only to have the order go through with only the cheap game because the expensive game was snatched right as you hit "place order" on the final page.

Edit: On a side note, you guys might want to do a check again on how much the games you have an eye on at EBGames.com cost at Gamestop. For a while I was seeing that EB consistently came in cheaper but lately I've seen some good deals at Gamestop's B&M. For example, I've been looking for Parasite Eve 2 and EB has it for $19.99 but I found it at GS for $9.99, and a mint copy at that. Just a little reminder. We get so caught up (at least I do) with looking out for certain games during the update that it can be easy sometimes to forget that Gamestop may have a copy in stock at a brick and mortar where you can check the quality first.

See you guys in about seven hours. ;)

And stop stealing games from my cart!! :)

Sounds a lot like the old "bait and switch" hustle. Highly illegal. Call them again and ask permission to record the phone conversation.

The intelligent thing for EB to do for testing is to use a test server that isn't connected to their live server.

I'm kind of confused... How do we know Suik II and VP were only tests? Somebody's Suik II order shipped, like, yesterday. (I know the phone backorder got cancelled, but I was under the impression EB cancelled all backorders after a period of time had passed, assuming if they hadn't gotten one yet, they probably never would.) Somebody else claims to have gotten in on the VP deal--it was certainly up long enough for somebody to grab it if they were quick and didn't fumble (there were two spots in my order where I lost a few seconds, and I still got to the CC entry page with it.)

The only game we really know is a glitch is Lunar 2, and that one follows a reliable pattern--new copy, every update, without fail. All of the other titles I can think of that people accused of being a glitch/test turned out not to be.

Back a few pages earlier, slidecage had the same thing happen to him with suikoden ii. He called them to complain and they said that they weren't going to get these games in stock again and that they put them on the site in the morning for testing purposes. I still tried to get VP anyways because it was there. I'll fine the quote and post it.

The on-line department is such a great group of people to work with that I would think twice about f'ing with them.

I remember that post, but I honestly think the phone rep was full of it. Somebody (drfielgood , who I think also grabbed VP) ordered Suik II that day (which, IIRC, is why slide called in), and then yesterday posted that it had shipped. So it wasn't a test.

I'd pull up all the posts, but my lunch is over, so now I have to go back to work. Hate that, but at least the job gives me a reason to be up for the update.
I find this very interesting when i call Eb this morning i had an backorder for Suikoden II since july 8 and was wondering why it never shipped out. well i called them today and found out that my order was cancelled due to the fact they will not be getting anymore in and that they had 4 people backordered for it. I was like it was just on your webpage this morning, this is the line they gave me

ebgames is getting ready to make the merger with gamestop and is testing out some of the features on the webpage. they said that today they tested out Suikoden II and Persona 2 and a bunch of other highly wanted games . Both of these games ( Suikoden II and Persona 2) have at least 4 people backordered for each game and they do not have any copies in stock... they said most of the games you will see up on the webpage for a few seconds and disappear are test listings and they dont really have those games in stock. I think its just a bunch of bull they might be feeding me cause they had Suikoden II in stock today and they just cancelled my order last week.

i was very upset at the dude until i asked them about the other order i placed last week Rhapsody A Musical Adventure. They said this game shipped out to me on July 28.

i already have 1 disc only copy of Suikoden II i got from gamestop so i cant be that upset about it being cancelled. BUT i do love how they say that would email you if the items are cancelled or shipped and they never did

i just hope Rhapsody A Musical Adventure comes complete or with a box
I am assuming this is still going on. I had already entered in all my coupons and credit card info. It was all saved. I got VP the second it was on the site with FFIII and just clicked send, send, send. It took 5 seconds. No one could have been faster, but someone also said they had the same experience. So this is why I think EBgames is false advertising some of their games. Yesterday, this happened to Suikoden ii. I don't remember anyone claiming it, but people complained that it it just left during the checkout. I do need to call them and get this on record though.

If someone claimed it then he must have been full of bs, but I just never got the post of someone claiming these games. I know they are popular and all, so maybe someone could have been faster. I'd like to hope this was the case!!

Ya, just add a game to your cart and go to checkout page. Then after you enter it just click back. I use Netscape and it saves it all in there. Maybe this isn't good info to give out. Need that extra few seconds in the morning! lol

How can no one be faster when someone can do the exact same thing and possibly click faster (though I don't know how you can input your CC beforehand)? Not to mention there have been "ties" (happened to me twice), so obviously more than one person can be the "fastest".

And slidecage thinks half the things he can't get are a glitches :)

Edited to add: Ah, tayaf69 has given away their CC secret... but I'm sure you're not the only one who can do that.

lol, it just seemed pretty reliable coming from the eb headquarters. I don't see why a customer service rep would make up a wacked up excuse for the updates. If he did, that is a very original idea. I'll keep trying to prove myself wrong. I will get VP!!!

Im not going to complain or say anything else about it though. I just got frustrated getting to the end and them clicking send, only to have FFIII pop up. I wish they would have asked if I wanted to proceed without VP.

My copies of Suikoden II and Valkyrie Profile have both shipped, so those definately weren't tests. Of course, they'll probably arrive disc only with a Blockbuster Disc Shield on them!

I think what initially set off my BS-detector was Persona 2 being listed as a test title--I'd ordered a copy the day before, and it's since shipped. I tend to suspect that the CSR's are peripherally aware of the Lunar 2 glitch, and know that the gamestop merger involves changes to the website, and so assume any other fast-disappearing games with backorders are likewise system artifacts. Blaming a system glitch/test is going to irritate a customer less than, "Well, we cancelled your order, then got a copy in, and since your order was cancelled, we posted it as available."

Im not going to complain or say anything else about it though. I just got frustrated getting to the end and them clicking send, only to have FFIII pop up. I wish they would have asked if I wanted to proceed without VP.

See, I'm actually glad they do it this way--I had one day where I managed to get multiple in-demand titles in my cart at once, and one of them got pulled at the last spot. I'm glad the order went through anyway, because I think a confirmation screen after the title got pulled probably would have cost me another of the titles. I have to cancel the occasional $2 filler-only order, but otherwise it's better for me.

yea i think i forgot to post last night. I finally got a hold of the cool dude at Ebgames last night. They did stop taking backorders for any RPGS for the ps1. They did say they had 1 copy of VP in yesterday morning (love how the other 2 said they have no idea how to check if they had it in stock or not) they did say there are testing some titles BUT these titles will only be up for a very few seconds and there is no chance that anyone will be able to check out with them. So if you got a major title in your cart and you check out , you should get the game. i then asked for a prepaid thing to ship back these games and they go " we are getting a lot of request for them these past few days" So for all the people who missed some of the harder RPGS and would be fine with DISC ONLY be on the watch out in a few weeks.

what kicks was i was able to find a complete copy of Star ocean for ps1 for 5 bucks at pawn. Glad i never gave Eb 25 for disc only

While we're waiting, am I correct in assuming that if a game is OOS on the website you're SOL for trying to use their B&M locator to find a game?
