We got this memo today, apparently starting thursday (the 28th) ALL our used Product that is older than current generation (Xbox, PS2, GameCube, GBA, DS, PSP) Will be 3 for $15. Now I was pretty floored by this, considering gamecrazy doesn't ever do stuff like this. But I read the memo over several times and it mentioned no maximum price for the discount to take place, or any limitations. (although, most stores won't let you use the MVP discount on top of this deal)

It sounds as if you will simply be able to buy any 3 old generation games for $5 each, starting friday.

Now, I've got my hopes up for grabbing the Ogre Battle, Final Fantasy Chronicles, and Vagrant Story we have priced at $29.99 each for a measly $15, but I'm sure there's some catch which wasn't made entirely clear in the memo.

But if it's true.. I am gonna be buying so many PSOne games..

I'll try to keep you guys posted on this, cause if your GameCrazys have any rare/pricier old generation stuff you've been wanting, this could be a great deal.

I'm breaking the bank on this sale.

Reserved for Thursday morning for me, all on N64:

Bust a Move '99, Cruis'n Exotica, Harvest Moon, Mario Tennis, Ogre Battle, Paper Mario, Starcraft, Turok 3, and another that I can't remember. The N64 section, between me and employees, is completely bare.

//edit: OH! Dr. Mario 64.

I went to one today and scoped out these games:

Chrono Cross (PS1)
Legend of Dragoon (PS1)
Jade Cocoon (PS1)
Soul Calibur (DC)
Tony Hawk 2 (DC)
Quake III (DC)

I know, those games are already around the $5 area minus Chrono Cross, but thats really all they had. My only complaint about this GC is none of the PS1 games have frikkin cases or instructions! I asked the guy where the PS1 games were and he pointed me to a cardboard bin thing with them all in the shitty white sleeves. Damn you GC...
Is GameCrazy the Hollywood Video equivalent of Blockbuster's GameRush (ex. store within a store) or is it its own store by itself? Cause I have a Hollywood Video near me that I've never been to, but no GameCrazy nearby that I know of. If anyone knows of any in Westchester, NY, let me know.
Yeah basically. But I've actually been to a Gamecrazy that was its own store (like Gamestop/EB) and was nowhere near a Hollywood Video.

sweet i am spending almost 100 bucks on this sale. i actually found a pretty mint copy of lunar silver star story complete. art book cloth map and all. 5 bucks is alright with me. also picking up super puzzle fighter, echo night, alundra, point blank 1,2, and 3, uh suikoden, and alot of other stuff.
I'm just hoping that I can get Super Mario RPG. I've been wanting to find that title for years now and I know my wife would love to get a chance to play it.

My store was pretty picked over for most other things, but there were a few PSX titles that I wouldn't mind to own again.
Good luck finding a copy for the 3 for $15 sale. I'm sure employees will grab all of those.

I just got back from checking out my local GameCrazy.

Not than many titles intersted me. The employee working even told me the only good games for teh ps1 they had were in this glass case. And there were only like20 games in there. Most of which didnt interest me. But they had like a rack of liek 400 ps1 games right next to the glass case. And those titles sucked even more. The guy was right.

I found the following in teh glass case:

Persona
Tale Concertio (I think thats the name)
Bomberman Fantasy Race
BomberMan
Legend Of Dragoon
Final Fantasy Tactics

there were a few other titles but those are teh only onese that caught my eye. And I already own Final Fantasy Tactics and Legend Of Dragoon.

Also nonse of the ps1 games were in cases. Which is even more retarded.

But if I go Ill probbaly get:

Persona
Tail Concertio
Mario Tennis

Mario 64
Super Mario Kart
Mario Party

They didnt have any good DC games either. I was mostly just checking out the price tags. If it was $10 or cheaper, I figured it was crap.

And no Earthbound. :(

aww well

I called and asked when it started and they guy was like "soon, sweet deal right" I was like are you guys hoarding yet. He was like "yep". I was like you bastards. He said"come down here and i'll reserve some for ya" I was like cool.

I reserved:
final fantasy chronicles-psx
tactic ogre-psx
Legend of mana-psx
mario party 3-64
and castlevania 2-gb

they told me dreamcast doesnt count becuase its considered 3rd gen. And gameboy and gameboy color games were the only portable games. They also had some neo geo pcket games. I'm not sure if they count, i should have asked.

Yeah.. if it hasn't been mentioned already, original game boy and GBC games are part of this deal.

And the deal, as far as I know, is not any older game for $5, it's 3 for $15. It's either 3 games or no games..

I truly hate having to mention and explain the stateside GameCrazy deals to the clueless employees, and hopefully I won't have to do so on Friday. Is it THAT damn easy to be hired in those stores?

Thursday

I just dropped by my local GameCrazy. They already had the signage up, and the guy behind the counter verified that it was Thursday. He also said it went for anything that wasn't PS2, Xbox, or GC. That having been said, he's holding onto about nine games for me - PS1, N64, DC, Genesis, SNES, Gameboy... man. Nothing too special, really, but it's all stuff that I wouldn't mind playing.

I just called the local store, and they said that they would be beginning the promotion on May 1 (Sunday). The guy also said that they would not place games on hold. Anyone else get something similar? I might drop by anyway on Thursday or Friday, especially if they have advertisements about this on their site.

I didn't understand a word you just said.

yeah actually the sale is friday but the coupon code for the promotion starts on may 1st. considering they made signage already iyts definitely thursday and if the code doesnt work well just have to reprice everthing manually. oh well. its still on.

People please don't call. If the GC employees don't know about it, it's a good thing. Just go by and check it out. If you can't go by, wait til Thursday when they open. The more people that call and "inform" the employees of the sale, the higher chance the employees have of keeping the good ones for themselves.

like i said earlier, most employees being still in high school dont care about old school games so they are uninformed. probably doesnt hurt to ask but hotwls13 is right. dont bother asking if you already know. oh and word of advice, dont stand outside the door at 10 am when they open because from my experience, most employees hate that. wait til 10:10. gives em 10 minutes to think about how easy the day will be then POW in you come asking for psx games that are in a case thats not organized. thank you customers since i am an opener and see this everyday. i dont really care but its funnt to watch employees get upset because they fear the psx case.

Well, I went to my Gamecrazy today hoping to find at least one good game i could put on hold but they didn't have squat! Their entire PSone section consistedf of games that either started with WCW, WWF, or Madden...a whopping 12 games! The N64 and DC sections were a little more populated, but they were still filled with crap. I'm so disappointed. If anyone finds an extra Suikoden 2 that they are willing to not gouge me on, I'd love to pick one up!

The guy I called knew about it already. The main reason I called was to confirm if they would hold games till the sale begins, because I didnt want to drag myself 20 minutes out just to check out what they had. And if they had something I really wanted, I would have to ask them about it anyway.

hey if by any chance which i highly doubt, any of the psx ddr games and maybe the gbc one. probably a lost cause to even ask but please look out for these.

I can attest to this as well. I used to loathe the soccer moms who would give me the death stare while I was preparing for the morning. Sorry lady, nobody forced you to hike out in the snow just to make sure that you're the first customer in.

damn, i forgot that I wanted to add to my DDR collection. this sale has potential to be trouble on my wallet.

yeah isnt that the best. we sometimes put up this sign that says please use hollywood entrance (referring to the hv entrance)
in front of there faces. also this sign holds its own as later in the day its fun to watch people act completely oblivious to the sign and look over it ask they try to open the door. good times.

I have a GC like a block away from me. I'll head down there tomorrow and see if I can get things held until Thursday, and then I'll hit the other one up on my way home from school tomorrow.

Im in for as many good carts i can find. I will buy any rare disc games i see, but the carts will last longer. Really hoping for Mario tennis, Conker, and some snes RPG's

Hey, quick question: Do GC employees get commision on systems sold? I need to buy a ps2 and wonder if i could con an employee into holding stuff for me if i bought a system.

no we dont get commision on consoles or games but we do get 1 dollar for every preorder. oh yeah big bucks! but we CAN hold games so just ask.

Ya know, I was wondering why when I left GC today the guy said "See you May 1st." Maybe it does start May 1st. I'll go there Thursday anyway and hassle them.

it totally starts this thursday, but if they want to change it i wo't. i support fellow cags so i will reprice each game if i have to. since our signage does say this thursday.

i hid my game pile behind or used systems graveyard since i have so many psx games on hold. its seriously 2 feet high. mainly cuz most of the games are double cases. i cant wait. if i find one game missing im gonna flip out especially since my manager is in japan for 2 weeks making me temp manager.

nice. it feels good for some odd reason. my managers pretty cool to. i guess its not having any higher authority in the store.

went into my gamecrazy today and since im good friends with the workers I looked all they had asked them to hold me a copy of Secret of mana, Paper mario 64 and phantasy star IV genesis, went to a 2nd one and are having them hold FF3, FF2, breath of fire 2, Megaman X2, dragon warrior 7 so im pretty happy on thurs

I'm jealous your PS1 games have cases :(

WOW HOW GAY. Hawaii doesnt even have a Gamecrazy unless I swim across the ocean and get eaten by sharks or drown to get to the nearest Gamecrazy. SO GAY!!

Hmmm...never thought about asking them to hold games for me. But I'm gonna be there right when the store opens Thursday. So as long as noone asks before that to hold a game I was gonna get, I'm fine. :)

I figured I had no chance of getting them to hold games for me, but I thought "what the hell?" and went for it. I was shocked as hell that they were cool with holding games.

I went for:
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Parasite Eve 1 & 2 (with cases)
Legend of Legaia (with case)
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest (I know it sucks, I like it though)

Hey guys, I basically missed the PS1 and N64 eras, and over time lost most of my SNES games. I'm trying to get a good idea on what great games I might want to try to pick up cheap since there may not be an opportunity this good for a while. I compiled the list below from suggestions in this thread; are there any I missed (or any I should remove)?
