Opera Browser on Dec. 22nd

Also, I don't know if it's just on my end, but everything is loading a lot slower than this morning. Everything.

My PC's connection is the same as ever, but the Wii is lagging a lot. This morning, it was going very quick.

Sorry that the video gets a little blurry at times. My camera was having a hard time dealing with the brightness of the tv.

Anyway, here's me playing the Wiicade.

Yeah I have been messing with it... checking out some Flash Games.

Flow does not work, was hoping it would. Check out this flash software, Musicology, its sort of a jukebox that just connects through various music files depending on your mood. Pretty cool.

There are a few things I hope they fix... one main thing is the resolution, for some reason it seems too zoomed out. Hard to read with out zooming in which is werid because it should be ok.

Also adding tabs would be cool. The toolbar should be smaller or be able to hide. The ablity to map buttons or add more features. Zooming in by dragging a marque box around somethign would be cool. Scrolling using the dpad too.

Watched a South Park episode on Google Video, and it was amazingly clear on a standard def TV. I wouldn't mind watching them on a regular basis, as long as they give the option to hide the bar on the bottom.

Little late to the thread, but I dl'ed the browser last night, and was surprised at how fast it was. (I thought it'd be slower...and I wasn't on a good wireless connection.)

Haven't searched the thread, but is there/has there been an announced compatible keyboard? Because that's all that is keeping me from using the Wii browser on a regular basis.
Adult Swim Fix refuses to play and calls the Wii a Mac.
Adult Swim fix uses Windows Media, which is probably not supported on Wii.
It works fine on my Mac (with Flip4Mac installed) ironically enough.

Nice video! You don't have to type out "www." though. That'll save like .3 seconds when browsing.

sweet...after getting 'unable to connect to the internet' msgs all day it's finally connected no prob and working quite well now. Don't know how often use this tho, at least until there's a keyboard.
Hey, I see a lot of complaints about YOUTUBE functionality, and although I haven't read through the entire thread, I assume no one has posted this:

It is YouTube and Revver formatted for the Wii, from the makers of Wii Video 9.

http://www.redkawa.com/sofatube/play/

It is pretty fucking nice.
Now THAT is cool. Only downside is the YouTube watermark but that's really minor.

I'll be using THIS for my video browsing, definitely.

so I guess I'm the only one getting "Server Busy...Try again" errors when even attempting to reach the Wii Store? The system is connecting to the internet fine but it won't load up the Wii Store.

I'm not even getting error messages, it just won't connect at all.

Furthermore, I didn't even get a message about the browser until about an hour ago.

HAY GUYS! I'M WATCHING PORN WITH MY WII! GET IT! LOLOLOLOLZ!

...serriously, porn feels creepy now, It's almost like I'm touching them myself. WAY too much immersion. Thanks for ruining porn, Nintendo.

Hmm. I'm very excited for this- free, right?

Once newegg restocks their ethernet cable I'll be online with my Wii, cannot wait!

you can't use ethernet cables on the wii. Unless you need the ethernet for some other reason.
Youtube does not work sadly... it says the flash is not up to date or something to that effect.
The first thing I did when I tried the Wii browser was go straight to YouTube...the volume was kinda low, but it worked perfectly otherwise.
For a trial version, this browser works pretty damn well.
I agree! I can't wait to see what the final version will be like!

I was fairly impressed with www.wiicade.com

All of the games were made to fit a standard TV, so the games are naturally fullscreen with no zooming needed. All of the other flash games I've played windowed and don't really look too good.

There's a trick to that, my friend.

To maximize any game just view the .swf file, not the .html file.

By nature, Flash movies will fill the screen. The HTML file is what puts the size limits on it.

So if you want, say, fullscreen Nanaca Crash go to langliet.org/nanca-crash.SWF (not .htm).

Should work with 90% of Flash files and 99% of Flash files work fine in thier swf version.

This browser really is something for a trial version. The only problem I am having is watching Youtube videos. Some of them play for a while then just skip to the end of the video before Im done. Other than that it is working out great!

I'm getting the adapter from newegg.

Sorry if this has been answered, but I updated my wii tonight and I now have the forecast channel but no internet channel. I have also tried to do another update but it says there are none that I have the latest update. Am I doing something wrong? Please help, Thanks.

Since this is an optional download and not a required system update they have it at the shop channel for download, and not as a update.

Yeah, for the internet channel you have to go into the virtual console in the Wii Wares section (thats what its called right?).

i think u might have to load the video up before u can mess around with what part of the vid u want to watch. When i went to full screen with 25% of the vid loaded, it suddenly stopped at the 25% mark.

I'm actually posting from my Wii and I must say that I'm impressed by the browser even if it's a beta version. Only thing I don't like is that text looks like crap without zooming in on my 50 inch DLP.:bomb:

Agreed - I have to zoom in at least one level to read just about anything. And I want to use the D-pad to roam!

I had no problems with Youtube in the middle of the day today - showed my kids a bunch of Mario things (watched the one where the guy beats SMB in 5 minutes - man, I've never seen anything past the first world before ;)).

Wiicade, however, gave us all kinds of problems. Last night I was able to play several games (though several others just loaded to blank screens and did nothing - had to go back and pick different ones). Today they loaded but they were squished into the upper 1/4 of the screen, yet stretched ALL the way across my widescreen display. Made them damn near unplayable. WTF? Every other page I looked at viewed fine, except that when I went back to my home page my background GIF had disappeared. So there was some flakiness going on with Opera. I haven't had time to restart it and check again. I'm sure it will clear up (as it all worked last night no problem).

If they make it so the giant menu buttons at the bottom sink out of view and only come up when you move your cursor down that far (similar to how you can set your tool bar in Windows to do), then it'll be perfect.

I think I want to get a Wii just to play curveball with the wiimote. I use to be so great at curveball, my first time back in years just got 27655. Everyone go play curveball on the wiiiiiicade!

Here is a list of features they should add...

1. ToolBar - Ability to Hide and shrink it. Also having the html input there so you don't have to go to the home page. Little options like changing the color could be nice and rearranging them ahla the Wii Menu system.

2. D-Pad function - I would like the option to scroll with the D-Pad. Pretty simple it can get silly pointing it around to move.

3. Cursor - Chaning the size and shape would be great especially for certain flash games.

4. Zoom - Zooming in even more or making a box around an area to zoom in on that one area.

5. Resoultion - I have a 52" tv and it is so tiny to see. The browswer just needs more settings period.

6. Tabs - Having more than one window open to switch back and forth.
