I've taken the FAQ from the other thread & pretty much just pasted it here without any changes made to it. You can find this FAQ at the bottom of this thread past the game list. The first list is the current game list. The second list is the original clearance list.

Consider yourself lucky if you find any titles from the second list, also most everything on the second list should be a big YMMV as most of those titles are now out of the system &/or have been pretty much bought up by everyone by now.

Alrighty then, here is the new and improved Kmart Clearance list. All titles are in alphabetical order according to their platform. The listings will be as follows: UPC - Game Title - Price.

Any game title that I've put in BOLD is missing the full 12 digit UPC & is represented with zeros. Any missing info you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the prices will be listed according to info I get from inventories. However, if 3 people can confirm the same price on a certain game, then I'll change the listed price to reflect it. I'll try my best to keep this updated as much as possible.

All updates on pricing will be done as I find them and/or posts from you guys/gals. I just updated some prices for select games that I found recently. Any price that I just changed has a v next to the price. There may still be a few prices out of whack, but for the most part they're current.

Remember if you have a UPC that we need please PM me so I may update the zeroed UPC's. Thank you to everyone contributing info in this thread!

Below you will find another game list. This is the original clearance list that should mostly be YMMV by now. All prices below are the last known prices reported, but many are out of the system and will now depend on the employee you get, the tag on the game and your own negotiating skills.
I've not included UPC's, but I do have most of them & can add them later if there is enough demand for them. Good luck finding anything on this list!;)

FAQ

Q: Why was this thread created?
A: Because there are multiple threads floating around, and its useful to consolidate. THis one will have the OP constantly updates so you don't have to go digging.

Q: Are these prices YMMV?
A: No, they shouldn't be. I currently have 10 K-Marts in my shopping radius, and they've all been consistent. At one time it was thought that they were YMMV, but I'm pretty sure it was instead employee incompetence at keeping prices updated.

EDIT: Some people are reporting prices that are YMMV, but I am hesitant to mark the deal as such. If you get a different price, it seems to be the exception to the rule, not a true YMMV where it is hit or miss. I'd say these prices are 90% accurate.

Q: An employee said the price was higher than what's on the list.
A: Get the game scanned at the register.

Q: The employee got that price gun and said it was higher than what's on the list.
A: GET THE GAME SCANNED AT THE REGISTER. The gun is incorrect sometimes.

Q: Can I use the price checker thingies?
A: YES! Brilliant idea! They will give you an accurate price. Also, if you have the problem of useless employees not opening the cases for you, you can print off the UPC codes and check them at the price checker.

Q: How can I help?
A: Multiple ways:
- Get a job at K-Mart so we have an inside man
- Post the prices of the games you get
- Write down the prices of games you do not get, then post those too

Q: When are items marked down?
A: Once a month, near the middle of the month.

Q: Does this have anything to do with the weekend 50% off sales K-Mart usually runs?
A: No. While some of these games used to be on the list, this is completely seperate. None of these games are on the 50% list anymore and will not be reduced during these sales.

Q: What if I bought a game at a higher price and it gets reduced? Can I get a price adjustment or a return/rebuy?
A: Chances are VERY SLIM. K-Mart does not do price adjustments on clearance items. A return/rebuy might be possible, but most Kmarts do not employee people with the mental capacity to fully understand this concept.

Q:Can I price check the games without getting into the cases?
A: Yes, thanks to this UPC document from TimTucker. You can scan these at self scanners located in most K-Marts, but note that sometimes prices may not be accurate
Old Link: http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs.doc
New Current Link http://www.timtucker.com/games/kmart_upcs_2.doc

Q: What if the price is higher than what's on the list?
A: Then your store has not done markdowns left. Ask them if they have any pending PCLs and perhaps they can do it for you, or just wait it out. Also, you could try a return/rebuy if you have another local store that did the drops. Use the UPC sheet to check this

Q: What if a price doesn't come up? It says "Check shelf tag for pricing".
A: This means that the game was at 90% off, and for some reason it was scheduled to be marked down further. If you have a cool employee, you can get games for cheap. If you have a game with outdated tags, you could be in for a hassle. This is similiar when Target marks things down for salvage.

Q: Are these markdowns YMMV?
A: NO. These are universal nationwide prices. If you arent getting them, its your stores problem and doesnt indicate a larger problem as a whole.

Q: How are things marked down?
A: AFAIK, it can be done manually via gun, or it can be done en masse at the register. If you want further details, we are currently looking for a CAG to take one for the team and get a job at K-Mart to infiltrate and learn their secret methods.

Q: What games will drop further?
A: As a GENERAL RULE, games at 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 4.00 are at 90% off AND WILL NOT DROP FURTHER. Games ending in .99 will drop 2 bucks at a time in random intervals.

Q: What do I do with all these games?
A: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/...ad.php?t=95481

dude,
i found 2 mechassaults, sims, enter the matrix, and world series of poker, all supposed to ring up at $2 each but then they came out to "normal" prices ($19.99, $6, $6, and $4, respectively)...
weird because i had bought enter the matrix and world series of poker a week ago and they came up at $2!

I checked- I have 2 Wavebirds, and 2 wavbird/prime bundles. I'm willing to open the bundles if you're not interested in the Metroid Primes.

I returned 4 of the bundles to my local store, and last I looked 3 were still there.

 Oh, man, you're killin' me here...
Why oh why would you return them??

I got too excited. $20 each bundled w/ a $5-10 launch title isn't as hot as a $7 bundle with a $40 1st party mario party game.

i finally found a kmart that had feel the magic for $3. i bought the last 2. i also grabbed the last zelda windwaker for $6. they also had a copy of siren, which was out of the system, didnt argue that it was $1.00 instead of .01 :) anyone up for a trade for metal gear twin snakes? mario party or metroid prime bundle?

i spoke to the guy that was at the electronics section and he said they just marked them down finally yesterday. there was alot of markdowns so i checked pretty much how much they were, and they were priced as marked. he did tell me that all kmarts have different clearance prices.

i did notice a few things that wasnt on anyones list (i did not buy any of these btw):

devil may cry 3 special edition gh - $14.99
kingdom hearts gh - 14.99
final fantasy x2 - $14.99
counterstrike - $9.99
tony hawk's underground 2 - $4

Ah, OK, you're talking the $20 ones - I could see that. I thought you got them all for $7.

Urbz and MechAssault 2 were both $6 for me, I was so pissed. Dude was like "They're pretty cheap, you want them? NO? Wow, okay".

$2 a piece, fuck yeah.. $6 each, hell no!

Oh, yeah, I had that happen to me, I forgot to write about it, Urbz came up $6 at one K-Mart instead of $2... no clue why this happened since it was $2 at every other K-Mart.

I've had many of the current $2 games come up $6 (or $8 or $10) at different stores. And it isn't because they didn't put in the latest drops, as I always find something that is the expected price (plus I always scan my Ridge Racer DS UPC to check if they are up to date - it always comes up $2). Each time, their reaction is similar - they can't believe I don't want the game for $6 :D.

Wha? Zelda WW's are now $6? When did this happen? Hopefully it's not YMMV....

and DMC3SE looks nice at that price too!
btw would kmart match their own prices if you show them your reciept? just curious...
Interesting question, and one that I'd like to know the answer to, as well. I scoured some Chicago stores last weekend, and found vastly different pricing strategies on several games on the list. I think I'll try to pm off a prior receipt...

It really depends, I think. It worked for me once no questions asked, another time the employee refused and the manager hesitantly agreed. My advice is that if you are going to do it, go around 8PM when the teenage kids are working and try to do it. For some reason day employees think they are somehow important and will lose their job for selling a clearance video game for $2 instead of $6.

045496961220 Pikmin 2 $10

i got it for 2 bucks today. i forgot the list but i dont think they had anything besides

Texas poker GBA (game really really sucks ) 1.50
Tiger woods golf DS Says 3 here but it rings up at 6 Locally

I'll be checking on games again within the next week for more drops. I picked up Wolfenstein 3D for GBA & Fire Pro Wrestling GBA both for $3 each. They came up price Required but the girl there knew me from previous visits and told me anything PR she'd give me at 90% off the price!

went to two kmarts in chicago today and scored 4 eye toy grooves @ $3 each i asked for a price check, and one said 29.99 on the box and another said 9.00 the guy insisted it was 29.99 i told him to scan it, it came to 3 bux his jaw dropped.. i smiled and said i want them all.. they also had 2 eyetoy with Antigrav and it was out of system i showed him my list, he said let me ask my manger and comes back telling me its 15. boo! i think he lied. same store got 1 copy of FF I&II for GBA @ $8. another kmart got 1 spiderman 2 for xbox @ $4 and a zelda wind thingie for $8. they had 2 feel the magic with 15 dollar clearance tags on them. but rang up as 29.99??? that was a bust.

Recap :

4 - eyetoy groove/w camera - $3each (PS2)
1 - FF I & II - $8each (GBA)
1 - Spiderman 2 - $4each (XBOX)
1 - Zelda : Wind something - $8each (NGC)

will post trade list once im home .. going to a few more stores after class.

I picked up Enter the Matrix (PS2) for $2 and Snood (GBA) for $4. I plan to use the Pricegrabber rebate on Snood - so it will be free.

I price checked Super Monkey Ball 2 (GC) and Metroid Prime (GC) and they both came up $19.99. That sucked.

Sears, as well as the state of MI, have policies that if an item rings up more than it is priced (w/ sticker on box, not shelf tag) you get $5 off.

Kmart is now part of sears, worth asking about.

i did not bother asking, because it was less then the clearance prices listed in the first post, but thatnk you for the heads up.. i will look into that.. i was wondering about the whole kmart sears thing.. maybe i can match reciepts and get stuff.. ;) well class is out. im going bargain hunting.

laters.
sigh. no luck on the Zelda Wind Waker :gc:. hit up a couple of K-marts today.
i got 1 windwaker today, the kmart had about 3-4 more. but at 8$ each. pm if ya want me to grab you one.

Went to the Pottstown, PA Kmart tonight and found three Mario Party 4/Wavebird bundles. They were marked with a clearance price $49, so I asked for a price check, expecting them to come up as $7. When they rang up the UPC, it was .01 -- apparently this store pennied them out of the system. The manager then said she'd let me have them for $20 each, after specifically telling me that they rang up for a penny. I didn't have the time to haggle (and wasn't in the mood for it, either) so I passed on the deal. Maybe another area CAG will have better luck!

OK, this is what I found today:

Metroid GBA - $4
Metroid Prime - $2
Spiderman 2 (Xbox) - $4
Namco Museum (Xbox) - $4
KOF Maximum Impact (PS2) - $5 (was out of system, cashier just put this price in)
Tom Clancy 3-pack (Xbox) - $4
Advent Rising (Xbox) - $5
Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom (Xbox) - $2

and the best for last...........

Mario Power Tennis (Gamecube) - $5!

I had a good day at Kmart for once. :)

a bit of luck for tonight, went to another kmart, found Dead or Alive 3 for Xbox for $2, and Grand Theft Auto GH 2pack for $4. I also found another Siren, but it wasnt marked and i knew it was out of the system, so i showed them my receipt thinking they'd match the price of the other kmart that marked it $1, the girl said "no, i cant price it for a dollar". i said thats alright then. so pming receipt is definately ymmv. depends on the person i suppose.

took a stroll to a local kmart yesterday, and picked up ...

Ghost Recon $2
Need For Speed Underground $4
NFL Street 2 $2

so all i have to say is...god bless kmart!

How the hell are these games so cheap? And how the heck are some games priced at .01 cents? Please explain, I find it har dto believe.

You should have bought those, even at $20. You could have easily doubled your money on Ebay by selling MP4 and the Wavebird separately.

If anybody has an extra copy of Mario Power Tennis you've picked up, PLEASE PM me with a price--my wife wants that game bad.

You can tell how old & behind K-mart is when they have "super mario advance" playing on the GBA next to the glass cases. I have yet to be in a store that doesn't have it there. Oh well it gives you a little background tune while you look for games whilst trying to avoid the glass glare.
How the hell are these games so cheap? And how the heck are some games priced at .01 cents? Please explain, I find it har dto believe.
Clearance. They gotta get rid of old games that have just been sitting there. You can't buy the .01 games, though, that's when they go out of the system. They're not supposed to sell them to you.

Just got back from K-Mart. Picked up:

Mech Assault $2 (came with 2 month Xbox Gold!)
LOTR: Third Age Xbox x 2 $2
Metal of Honor Frontline $2 (pennied out, he gave it to me for $2)
Ghost Recon $2

Total was $10 and change for 5 games. The 2 month Gold is worth $10 alone considering a year Gold is $60.

Aren't those 2 month expired? I got a bunch of Mechassault 2 games & they came with those 2 month xbox live thing...

I may go back at a different time of day and pick them up. The night manager was giving me serious attitude and I didn't feel that I should have to pay $20 for something that she told me rang up for a penny. If that's the price in the system, that's the price the customer should be given (ridiculous though it may be). I realize that once something is pennied out of the system, the price is very much YMMV, but I didn't feel like putting $20 in the manager's pocket.
Sears, as well as the state of MI, have policies that if an item rings up more than it is priced (w/ sticker on box, not shelf tag) you get $5 off.

Kmart is now part of sears, worth asking about.
Other way around, Kmart bought Sears.
You can tell how old & behind K-mart is when they have "super mario advance" playing on the GBA next to the glass cases. I have yet to be in a store that doesn't have it there. Oh well it gives you a little background tune while you look for games whilst trying to avoid the glass glare.
At least 2 years ago when I used to work there, the store's Nintendo rep dealt with those, we had no say in what was in the demo units.

Yeah its the nintendo rep that does the demo units, thats for all stores i believe, also its the sony rep that does the sony demo's etc. The stores have no control over whats in the demo unit or if there is even a demo unit in the store. There arent even any demos in our kmart, except a really old gamecube/xbox/ps2 kiosk that has like, dark cloud in it for the ps2, and 99% of the time that kiosk is not turned on.

The only store that might have control over it is ebgames because all they have are consoles with tv's set up on the counter instead of demo kiosks like most stores. So they can just pop a disk in if need be. They still cant control whats in their ds or handheld systems though since the reps change those demos.

Target or walmart seem to be the only ones with nice, updated demo units or of course ebgames and gamestop.

Found a mini motherlode of $5 Mario Power Tennis's today at the local Kmart, 4 to be exact. After taking care of myself, a fellow local CAG'er and my nephew, I have one available to trade. I'm looking for Mario Baseball, Mario Toadstool Golf or Paper Mario. PM if you've got one em for trade.

I got 12 games for $22 off of the list today, flipped them for $67 in credit. I have had a couple of games and movies on hold for me that I have been wanting.

I normally dont even flip because it isn't worth it most of the time, but thanks for the great deal guys.

Nope, other way around.

K-Mart actually owns alot of the land it's stores are built on... when it closed a bunch of stores a few years ago, it sold off the land for a tidy little profit, which it then used to buy Sears. K-Mart did one thing right when it completely bought all of it's land.

Kmart Holding Corp. is buying Sears, Roebuck & Co., for $11 billion, a deal that will create the third-largest retailer in the U.S.

Kmart emerged from bankruptcy just 18 months ago and not long ago looked like a candidate for the dust bin, but Kmart has been generating strong profits in recent months while Sears continues to languish.

The startling acquisition was engineered by Kmart Chairman Edward Lampert, the largest single shareholder in Sears. He holds about 15% of Sears stock through his ESL Investments Inc.

The merger will enable us to manage the businesses of Sears and Kmart to produce a higher return than either company could achieve on its own," Lampert said in a statement.

The combined company will be called Sears Holdings Corp. and will be based in Hoffman Estates, Ill., where Searnow s has its headquarters.

It's expected that several hundred Kmart stores will be converted to Sears stores and Kmart stores will begin carrying private-label Sears products like Kenmore appliances and Craftsman tools.

Lampert will be the chairman of Sears Holdings, while Sears CEO Alan Lacy will be vice chairman and CEO.

Alan Lacy calls most of the shots within the company, as well. I'd never heard of Lampert until now.

Yep, Nintendo deals with the demo's...here's another fun fact, the big three don't really like dealing with K-Mart, since most of them are organized like shit and K-Mart / Sears barely accounts for 3% of the total video games sold in the US.

That's why they have outdated demo's and shit like that, because the reps never bothered to come in, and when they did they were in and out and never said anything to me.

The entire 9 months I was there (and ran the electronics dept.) the Sony / Microsoft rep never showed up.

K-Mart views electronics as being a small small part of sales which is why it's never organized or clean or no one is in there, because nobody really cares.

And if they are clearancing games off for $2 , i can't see how they even make money off it to justify having them at all.

It depends. Stores with higher sales overall are allowed more to be spent on payroll, which means more clerks on the floor ...working, hopefully. More clerks, more work gets done (in an ideal world, at least). Meaning keeping departments neat, keeping product accurately marked for price, and well displayed, et cetera.

I spent an afternoon driving around atlanta hunting deals at BBGRs and Kmarts, and witnessed this very phenomena. Stores with empty parking lots (ie, Douglasville, Hiram, Marietta across from the Big Chicken) have nothing but clutter, half the games are hidden behind other titles so customers can't see a blessed thing, prices are inaccurately marked, et cetera. Stores where they have a lot of customer traffic (Rome, Mableton) have product faced neatly, and markdowns are reflected on the sticker price... these stores, surprize surprize, only have a handful of clearance titles remaining.

Why you ask? Quite simple... when a customer is able to see and know the ultra low price, they're a lot more likely to buy.

The sad cycle that management faces is that lower volume stores don't have the hours to pay clerks to do what needs to be done, so the work isn't done, so customers won't buy.

I will say this though. Most of the Kmar clerks are depressing. It's as if they don't care that they're there. Dude, someone is paying you to do a job, don't you want to live up to the expectations? You alone represent who you are. Crummy job or not, have some pride. You're never going to be a lawyer if you can't handle the commitment of a retail position.

Move out old product which is taking up real estate within the store, so you are able to place new inventory which will sell. That's the theory.
Same thing for Montana. Who really knows if it exists.

Actually, I've been to New Jersey once and never want to go back. Why are there no motherfucking left turns? And people thought the South was ass-backwards.
LOL Parts of PA are like that too, down near Allentown area, and I can't tell you how aggravating that is. If you miss the turn off, you're sol till the next one(which in some cases isn't for 2 miles or MORE).

Stopped by the Mitchell, SD Kmart and while picking up MMZX I saw 2 copies of Mario Power Tennis left , and about 2-3 Donkey Kongas.

I'll be driving there quite often from now on, so if anyone is interested PM me.

i agree with this theory. some stores have to have that certain thing just so they can compete with another store. for instance, i heard a few years back that target wasnt really making that much money on the toys they sell. and that the reason they have toys is to draw people in. if you make X amount of money on X product, you are gaining that money back. this should explain why prices for certain products are so low.

for games they do loose alot of money. my brother works and manages a video game store and he tells me how much they usually buy the newer games that are out. and most of you will probably be surprise as to how companies are suppose to make money out of them. for instance he told me about a certain 360 title that cost them $57 including tax, which is suprisingly disturbing that the only profit from it is not even covering the amount of labor they put to it just for it to sell. imagine when the price gets cut in half.... newer titles he said are just there for them to bring people in the store, and to get them interested on other things. they make a ton of money though, selling used games. i was there once while he bought a game from a guy for $1.99 and sold it for $14.99. no wonder gs/eb are crazy about getting your used games :)

I finally scored something at Kmart since the last clearance few months ago.

Starfox Adventures (GC) $2
Dragonball Z Budoaki 2 (GC) $3
NFL Street 2 (XBOX) $2

The nice cashier gave me the Starfox Adventures for $2 after a short chat with him (it rang up as Price Required).

The Starfox Adventures has a "BONUS Star Fox Adventures Official Nitendo Power Player's Guide with the purchase of this game" image printed on the cover (not sticker) as "Kmart Exclusive". What's it? A separate guide that you get free with this game? I don't think Kmart carries this guide any more.
