Yeah, I definitely switched for a reason. I mean, I go to school in Lincoln, NE. While the film industry around here is growing, you won't get the same respect and opportunities here that you would get in some other places. So I realized, early enough, fortunately, that majoring in film would get me nowhere.

I'm buying a camcorder soon, though, so I can actually make the films I want to make, regardless of the fact that they may get me nowhere. Experience is important.

Also, the starting salaries for anything in media are more or less criminal. Last I saw, a PA makes like $15k/year. $15k? I work 40 hours a week and make way more than that. PAs end up working 12+ hour days for $15k year? No way would I do that. I know how much money I need to make to pay my rent and feed my kid, and $15k isn't going to do it.

My Newegg rebate for my PSU hasn't showed up...I lost my "rebate number" so I can't track it online...I hope it still shows up at some point.

I dont want to crap all over my own career and make it sound like it sucks, Noke. I will say this, when its going its the greatest thing I think you can do but when the industry is down you are pretty much fucked unless you have a huge back up plan. It takes so much time and effort to get a foot in that its almost not worth it. No matter what you do in school be prepared to do 2-3 internships for at least 2 years before anyone even thinks of hiring you for anything.

The best advice I ever got for working in TV/Broadcasting was from one of my profs who said. "I can teach you all you need to know about TV/Film but my only advice if you are planning on making a career out of this is to marry someone who has a real job."

TV/Film must be one of those areas that a ton of people want to do so they can pay new hires like shit and still have people line up for the jobs. Video game programmers are probably underpaid compared to guys who develop software to manage TPS reports for the same reason.
They apparently don't value good spelling/grammar.;)
Hell no they dont!

Honestly, why do you think I still dont care about it?

Damn, this sucks. I tried installing Songbird and when I run it, DEP immediately closes the program. So I tried to manually add an exception for it, but it says that DEP has to be running for that program and won't allow me to disable it.
Couldn't you get steady work doing regular shoots for programs? Local news programs and the like?
Easier said than done and its a trade off. New camera men I usually at the same station for decades so until they die or retire that spot is filled.

And once you get stuck doing news pretty much everyone else refuses to hire you because of the way news is shot. If I was looking for a camera man and there was 1 that shot news for 10 years and 1 that shot anything else for 2 years I would pick the 2 year guy.

News kills your ability to shoot anything else.
What's DEP?

Data Execution Prevention.
Stoneface got it right.

Usually if DEP closes a program, you can just add a manual exception. Never seen a program before that wouldn't let me do that.

Snow and freezing rain to start soon. :cold:
You ever crack open Ninja Gaiden II #83? Damn good game, but I had to play it in :baby: mode. I think I made it to chapter 5 on normal.
Damn. Sounds like I'll need baby mode too.

The crappy thing is that you have to start over to change the difficulty. I'd have probably tried to push a bit further on normal, but I had a feeling if I was starting to have problems on Chapter 5 then there's no way I'd make it through the full game so I may as well restart sooner than later.
I thought the demo sucked?
I was looking forward to some bootleg Ryu action, just to see how ridiculous it went.

Anyone know where to go to get the best deals on airplane tickets? This will be the first time I'm traveling by plane (scared!), so I'm a noob at booking tickets.

Priceline.

Try the 'Name Your Price' thing if you're flexible.

If not, they seem to have lower prices than the other sites.

Don't forget to look at Airlines' sites as well.

Are any of those sites (Priceline, Orbits, etc) good to book a cruise? :whistle2:k
I might want to do a cruise...

I dunno what I wanna do this year :(

Depending on where you are going it will be over before you even get scared.

Also, Spun was rather on the weak side, just finished it. Now I get to watching Season 1 of Hitchcock presents. Yay!

I once heard there's some software program that tracks pricing down from seat to seat and orders directly from the airline at the lowest price. And there's this whole shadow world like the CAG of airline seating to buy tickets.

I tried to track it down but couldn't find it. I heard about it on NPR several years ago.

I hate when I call a fucking client and they're like "so you're not coming down to our office?"....fucking retards...the process is explained to them by the sales rep and by our secretaries, that we do everything over the phone. :wall:

Thanks for reminding me about Songbird budge. I used it a while ago but un installed it for some reason. So much better than itunes, though I miss genius.

I bought Skate 2 today, because it looks like we'll be snowed in tomorrow too.
I guess they are in the water because the ship left without them. :(

Has anyone been on a cruise?
I have. Mrs. Number83 and I go every other year for our Anniversary. Best vacations ever.
