Not digging the box art

Ordering the 3D version.  tempted for a minute to get the special packaging but it looks cheap and I rather have it isite nicely with other blu.

The special packaging looks like it is junk.  I would be all over it if it was high quality, but then it might cost more.  I will just get the BD when it comes out.  Maybe pick up the 3D set if it comes with the normal BD as well for when I do get a 3D tv.  I hope it is packed with deleted scenes.

Too bad this doesn't have an isolated sound effects/music track feature.  The sound effects were amazing.

Still no word on a sequel....  I guess they have to wait until final numbers for home media sales to come in to decide to let Del Toro make a sequel.

in other news the cheap glue on my Crimson Typhoon's leg dried up and now the leg is broken.

Bought the Best Buy version with the Striker 1 cover. I Had to show my love of the film after seeing it so many times in the theaters and I'd be more then willing to toss money at the screen if they give the go ahead with a film budget since they're already writing the script.

I'm considering getting the collector edition just for the extra disc.  Last I looked Amazon has it for a few bucks more than the 3D set.  I can always order a 4 disc case to put it in.

Both the 3D and normal version have the same extras. Outside of the covers, the only other difference is one version has a 3D blu, but that's about it if you think there's anything more past that.

Why am I seeing the collectors edition listed with 4 discs? Even in one of the reviews on Amazon it said that the only way to get the extra was to get the collectors.

It comes with 3 blu's and 1 DVD for the collector's, same as any of the 3D versions of the film. One of the blu's is the 3D version, the other the normal 2D, the last blu is the extras and the DVD of course is the DVD copy. The only people who got "exclusive" extras on an additional disc is Wal-Mart (a featurette on jaegers), but that one is just the normal blu-ray copy with no 3D and an exclusive cover and gotta pay extra for it. Otherwise there is no extra bonus features disc in the collector's set and you're just paying for a extra plastic. The blu-ray.com review posted earlier also backs what I said.

That's odd then that Amazon has all of the blurays showing just 3 and the collectors showing 4.  Also a review even states that the collectors is the only way to get a bonus disc with 30 minutes of video on it.

Then that guy is full of shit, you're playing for extra plastic and 3D. That's it.

After watching this movie 3 times in the theater with it's amazing sound effects, my home theater lacks the punch.  Man the effects track was very good.

That means shit. He also had plans for Hellboy 3 that would make it take place after the apocalypse happened, but that never came to fruition and he's working on 2-3 other films right now. Unless Warner Bros. in the next few weeks gives it the green light and a budget I'm not going to get too excited.

Yeah......... If this movie DOES get green lit, I would love for it to go toe to toe with the 2015 line up.

I'd rather it be a 2016 or so film so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle and get as wide an audience as possible because there's no way in hell that Pacific Rim 2 can go toe to toe with advertising in the likes of Batman vs. Superman, Star Wars, Avengers or even Jurassic World. Hell, even 2017 since so many films are being reshuffled to 2016 as is anyways. I'm still disappointed Japan let down not just America, BUT THE WHOLE WORLD in not tossing money at it.

I want a sequel to this so bad. Pacific Rim came out of nowhere it seemed and I want more of it. Guillermo Del Toro will probably make a sequel at some point, I just hope it's sooner than much later.

hmm... I think they took out some of the Glados voices from the home release...

I recalled hearing the "ELBOW ROCKET" confirmation during the theatrical release...but it's missing from the home release

Just saw this. I'm glad its getting another film. I don't think people gave the first one a chance and most of the ones that did went in expecting something they shouldn't have. This film is great if you become 10 or 12 years old again, shutoff your mind and enjoy the robot and kaiju fighting.

It would also be great if I were retarded. Pacific Rim blows dick.

I don't usually expect to have to turn off my mind when watching a Guilleremo Del Toro movie.
I don't usually, but with this one it was just mindless fun. Also I'm not sure how much of this fill was from him. I remember reading an interview with him and he said something about wanting to do a robot film and finding a script. It seemed like someone else wrote it, del Toro made some changes and got his name slapped on it to help sell it.

To each his own. I liked it however I did read that it was one of them films that you're going to like it or not. Most didn't. I went in expecting Robot Jox with a budget. I got much more than that so I was happy.

I love Pacific Rim. It's the best Godzilla movie ever made.

I'm not sure how I feel about them releasing a sequel. I don't know where they go with the story. Things get wrapped up fairly nicely in the first film. I don't think it would be a good idea to bring back any of the original characters. I would also need to have Guillermo Del Toro at the helm again. His sense of style helped make Pacific Rim work.

I'm also interested in an animated series. There's a lot that could be done with that. An animated series gives creators a chance to flesh out the world-building, which was already one of the strongest points from Pacific Rim.

Cept I messed up the initials lol

Egg on my face.
I must have known what you were getting at or have some form of dyslexia that I don't know I have.

I had read somewhere that a lot of footage had to be cut out to make time on the first one that lead up to a sequel. Some was cut in the editing and some was just never filmed. It was expected that when the film came out on Bluray that we would get all that in the extras. I don't think we did. I really hope that at some point we do get to see it.

Only thing that sucks about this news is now I can't find anything he said to expect if a sequel was green lit and what was missing from the first film. All I can find is the news that this will be made. In some of what he said he talked about what would happen to have a sequel. I don't think the come from the rift in the next one. I think the animated show is what will lead up to it. Might be able to find something in the thread that was posted just after the film came out.
